[Help] Recover fastboot using xFSTK Downloader - Zenfone 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, my Zenfone 5 could not enter fastboot, so I followed some tutorials on recovering fastboot using xFSTK Downloader, (one such can be found here https://www.asus.com/zentalk/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=33800).
I managed to get the success message, however, my phone still stuck on Intel logo when I try to enter fastboot. Can someone please give me some help on this? Here is the log from xFSTK Downloader:

I have the same problem. No matter whatever debrick method i use, i am stuck at intel logo.

You can try this --> https://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone-5/help/debrick-asus-zenfoen-5-fastboot-t3377455
I'm success with that method

I'm success with that method

Click to collapse
I tried that too, initially that method was ending access to bootloader, but seems after erased partition, the Asus stuck at intel logo.

I'm getting GPT command failed on whatever method I use.

I am stuck at no.5 from the instruction.
From the USB logo I am unable to go to droidboot or recovery when pressing power + vol up.
Going to droidboot is the main issue.
Is there a way to boot the phone usind a SD card or any other means?
press lower volume button at the time of usb logo . ... reply quickly ...!
---------- Post added at 09:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:22 PM ----------
to do all above things you have mentioned you have to enter into bootloader .....!
Regardless of whichever combinations of pressing the vol up/down with power, it is not going to the droidboot.
just connect it with pc and tell me it got detected by pc or not ....! a pop up notification will show that windows is installing device driver .

device driver is already installed.
when run xfstk downloader, it detects.
The droid explorer cannot be installed as it is asking to specify path for SDK even though I have specified the right path.

What I understand from this is need to get the right firmware ifwi etc, etc..it then should be able to flash 100%.
I am going to try all those and will update you accordingly.
whats your firmware sku ...its ww or tw ...!
---------- Post added at 02:23 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:21 PM ----------
get a fresh jellybean /kitkat firm ware from this site : https://www.asus.com/gr/Phones/ZenFone_6_A601CG/helpdesk_download/
keep in mind that you have to download the proprer sku .......if its tw then try tw or if its ww then try ww
---------- Post added at 02:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:23 PM ----------
you will also get raw firmware from here
---------- Post added at 02:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:24 PM ----------
open the zip of your firmware you will got recovery.img. also a ifwi zip file ....!
I have no luck to proceed beyond 7% from the manuf. flash tool. I have also wrote to the youtube author asking him for help.
My sensing is that the phone can be revived with proper files.
It's TW
The ifwi file name is different (ifwi_ctp_a600cg.bin), where as the author's one is just ifwi.bin. I tried to rename it but that also don't work. Recovery.img is not found in this firmware.
UL-ASUS_T00F-TW-6.3.3.3-user.zip
download V1.18.40.11 for TW SKU from asus site ...its jelly bean ...you will get all the flies required for it.......!
you will found it at firmware section ...!
Author is also working on jellybean firmware ..! so try it .!
Confusion:
Should I add those 5 files, namely, FwDnx, ifwi, osdnx etc.. from the authour or rename those found in the firmware. Either way it can't proceed beyond 7%, meaning ifwi failure.
In addition it is now asking for fastboot.bin when using this firmware. In those latest version it is not asking for fastboot.bin, but fastboot.img.
I can't figure out why this failure occurs.
my examination is tomorrow , so i will unavailable for single day ... !
All the best for your exam!
The youtube author Ashraf's video is showing Zenfone 4 flashing. Since I have problem with all other firmwares, I decided to give a try for the same firmware even though I know it may not work.
To my surprise the ifwi.bin flashing was successful(15%) and asked to reboot. But it did not go to next step because mine is Zenfone 6 with TW SKU while he is using Zenfone 4 with WW SKU.
What I understand from this is my phone hardware is ok but the required files are NOT working working with the right firmware. The important files are:
fwdnx.bin
ifwi.bin
osdnx.bin
recovery.img
splash.bin
cloverview.tlv
signded soft key clak.bin
fastboot.img
zenfone.xml
I don't have knowledge on these files but do know that they are required for bricked zenfone 6 successful flashing. You may want to get in touch with Ashraf also to see how it can be cooked to work on zenfone 6. I have seen lot of them having difficulties with those files uploaded by him in the mediafire. In fact all of them are not working on Manufacturing Flash Tool 6.0.2.
here is solution :
please follow instruction :
download : http://www.mediafire.com/download/daq7x1j5zski7bc/xfstk-downloader-setup-1.5.1.exe
zenfone 6 download this also : https://www.mediafire.com/folder/tk0z4dmhxjfdv/ZenFone6
install xfstk setup ........its around 13 mb .
note: dont try to replace any file on zenfone 6 .
launch xtfstk downloader 1.5.1 .
you have to go : red marked section .
[/url][/IMG]
select files from zenphone 6 section ........
like this :
[/url][/IMG]
fw : dxn.bin
ifwi: ifwi.bin
os dnx : dnx_osr.bin
os image : fastboot-2.19.img.pos.bin
connect phone >> begin download
after the thing is done you can enter into fastboot then follow the first post step i had mentioned.
you must have isoc usb driver : http://www.mediafire.com/download/4gv78qp8hbblhvb/iSocUSB-Driver-Setup-1.0.4.exe
---------- Post added at 01:04 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:39 PM ----------
if mediafire is not giving permission to download bulk file the download it individually and put them into same namefolder
all the best ......!
I am getting error from 15:43:14 onwards.

[HOW TO][DISCUSSION] UnBrick Samsung Galaxy Tab 2

There are more possibilities how to repair Hardbrick Samsung Galaxy Tab 2:
* For those who damaged boot loader can try Running stock U-Boot from SD Card
* For those who have HW fault like eMMC bug can participate on development Running entire system from SD Card
The second one may be solve later with help of some experienced people.
Run stock U-Boot from SD Card
Requirements
* Hardbrick Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (GT-P5100). This can be recognized that it don't do nothing, charging not working, power button do nothing, recovery not working. More info How To Unbrick Your Galaxy Tab!
* SD Card Support UHS-I UHS104 (SDR104), with is not easy to determine with Card support this format and with not. I tried many cards and label UHS-I is not enough so i asked SanDisk support they recommended SanDisk Extreme. I bought SanDisk Extreme 32GB, and this card is working. I would say that every card 90MB/s+ should work.
step 0 not for Linux
Windows
* Install drivers for OMAP 4430 Guide / Drivers inside OMAPFlash download
* VirtualBox with Linux
* Set VirtualBox to capture OMAP 4430

Running entire system from SD Card
I'm trying to modify U-Boot and Kernel to load entire system from SD Card. Some have done it Say hi to "CyanoBoot" -- a 2nd bootloader/w menu aka "ub2" different device same CPU.
First step of boot is loading x-loader. The x-loader is signed so we have to use original one from Samsung. After some peripheral initialization x-loader copy u-boot to ram checking for magic constant as copied code and execute it. This is the place where we can change u-boot to boot from SD Card, because x-loader load u-boot from the same device as was loaded him.
u-boot source
Do anyone have u-boot source from Samsung?
I used this Guide and copy something from Nook device u-boot source because they made boot from SD Card on same CPU OMAP4430. And lge_p920 from LG Open-source repository. Do anyone have better idea?
How to compile
[u-boot source](https://gogs.lukastomek.info/lukas/u-boot)
[Building U-BOOT #(for Blaze)](http://omappedia.org/wiki/4AJ.2.5_OMAP4_Jelly_Bean_Release_Notes)
Kernel
I'm using Stock boot.img from O2C-P5100XXDMJ2-20131203002840.zip package. Do anyone have kernel booting from SD Card?
Prepare Debrick.img
Rewrite part of Image Files
Write recovery.img to specific address in debrick_changed.img address 0x2C00000 write in hex or dec depend on system (seek=$((0x1800000)) for linux) (seek=46137344 for Windows).
You need to rewrite:
x-loader (MLO) 0x20000
u-boot (Sbl.bin) 0x1800000
boot.img 0x2400000
recovery.img 0x2C00000
Code:
dd if=C:\temp\Tablet\sdCardDebrick\recovery.img of=C:\temp\Tablet\sdCardDebrick\debrick_changed.img seek=$((0x1800000)) oflag=seek_bytes conv=notrunc
UART Debugging
Pin 21 of [Samsung Galaxy Tab 30 Pin Dock Connector Pinout](https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1118986) is output of debug messages for x-loader and u-boot (port UART4). I would like send Kernel debug output to this port. Anyone know how to do it?[/HTML]I’m using UB232R for conecting to PC.
Output from debugging:

This look like kernel is executed but no more info. I tried set ttyO0 - ttyO4 ttyS0 - 4 but no difference to get output from kernel. Do anyone have some idea how to get kernel output or what is wrong?
I realize I'm four years later with this, but I hope you see my message, because I'm also trying to get u-boot working on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 and I saw the repository with your work so far, but for some reason it isn't up anymore, so could you re-upload it maybe if it isn't too much effort?
If anyone is still interested; I managed to patch the stock bootloader from Samsung (Sbl.bin), so that more verbose logging from UART4 is working and booting entirely from the SD card is also working: https://github.com/mspitteler/espresso-sbl

Thanks for your confidence but I am no god in these matters :laugh:
I have not used FlashTool for ages now as it's broke on my Linux distro and is missing some of the .png's.
I mostly use the command line xflasher tool. :good:
From the log it seems like you only flashed the boot area (Preloader, LK, etc) you should really choose to flash ALSO the boot/kernel, fotakernel, system, userdata and cache if it exists from the same package.
Make sure you select them for flashing, you have to choose them manually using the "exclude" option box. (Exclude SECRO if its giving you problems)
For userdata just ticking wipe userdata will add the userdata for you.
I found this old screenshot example so everything in "Under "Content"" would get flashed

Things May look or of changed slightly since this version screenshot but the principal will probably be the same.
If yours looks drastically different point me to a image that looks like yours.

You could just try another firmware package using FlashTool. Sometimes the Packages can be corrupted during download or extraction.

Hard bricked and stuck in EDL mode. MiFlash says 'write timeout, maybe device was disconnected' during flashing

Hey guys,
So, it seems my Mi A1 has hard bricked. It only boots into EDL mode.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Power + Volume Down just refreshes the EDL session. I have a blinking LED when I connect via USB to my PC.
Nothing appears on my screen. Nothing at all.
WHAT I HAVE TRIED SO FAR
Tried to boot into fastboot. FAILED. I can only boot into EDL mode.
Disconnected battery, short test points then connect USB cable. I am able to see the COM port on MiFlash but it fails a few seconds after starting.

The issue was hardware related. eMMC chip is most likely damaged.
