Specs says there's a gyro in Nova Plus but mine won't detect it - Huawei Nova/Nova Plus Questions & Answers

Hi, I have a Nova Plus MLA-L03 updated to nougat MLA-L03C578B302. (via firmware finder app)
I can't get any VR because it says my phone don't have a gyroscope...
Bootloader locked and not rooted.
Anyone can help me please ?
Also since I updated my phone some manufacturer apps are missing like Updater and some others.
I've seen someone else with this problem but I can't seem to fix it even with the proposed solution.
Thanks a lot

nova plus MLA-L03 doesn't had a gyro, I don't know where you see that specs that said it does it.

Sensors Fingerprint (rear-mounted), accelerometer, proximity, compass

Damn

what are you using to view the orientation and information from the gyro
firstly i tried google maps navgation then i downloaded anoter 2 free aps gps test and gps status...if i hold the phone in one position it shows me one point as beeing the north...if i do a 180 degrees spin it shows me another point as beeing the north
ps i think its the digital compas thats foulty not the gyro right?

You could use the app Phone Tester it gives you a reading of all the sensors, but that's it.

This thread warrants an explanation of the differences between GPS, compass, and gyroscope.
GPS: Tells you where you are. It can be used to infer the direction in which you are moving. It can NOT tell you which way you are facing.
Compass: Tells you which way you are facing with respect to the Earth's north/south poles.
Gyroscope: Tells you how fast you are spinning about each of 3 axes (hence why it's called a "3-axis gyroscope"). It can be used to infer the direction in which you are facing (albeit not easily).
Neither the compass nor the gyroscope can tell you where you are, or the direction in which you are moving.
The problem you are seeing is with the compass, NOT with the gyroscope. Google maps does not currently do anything with the gyroscope. The digital compass can be calibrated. I use the "Compass" app, which has a calibrate function.
It's a 6-axis gyroscope, not 3.

No it's not a 6 axis. It's a 3 axis. It's listed here: http://www.google.com/nexus/#/tech-specs.

Also general question/comment. Doesn't a gyroscope help the phone know which way is down? So technically you can have an object shown on the screen, then you can walk around that object with your phone and see all sides of the object. (Like the iPhone 4 demo Steve Jobs did with the game Jenga, he walked around the tower to see all sides)
@ ravidavi
Thanks mate yea thats it....the compas is all messed up...
On ur phones dose the north apear to be in same direction no matter witch way u turn or is this a wide spread flaw

There's no such thing (in this world) as a 6-axis gyroscope. What you are thinking is the oft-quoted phrase "6-axis gaming sensor" (or 6-axis motion sensor). A 6-axis motion sensor is actually a chip that combines a 3-axis accelerometer and a 3-axis gyroscope into one package.

A gyroscope only tells you how fast you are spinning about an axis. An accelerometer can (for the most part) tell you which way is down.
I found this video today

I would like to know what these guys are using to test the gyro on the NS.. Actually I am not sure this app is actually testing the app or the compass / accelorometer.
any ideas?
Did that woman say the phone had a barometer...?

[Q] Fingerprint reader on CM12

hello all , could you tell me if there is a custom rom CM12 whose fingerprint reader works for unlocking please ? or is it really no longer supported by CM12 ?

Fingerprint reader is not working on any cm12 based ROMS; you'll need to use one of the samsung based roms if you wanna use the fingerprint reader.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/orig-development
Does this still apply anymore? CM12.1 has been receiving fingerprint updates recently .
I have been wondering about the same thing. But i think they are just experimenting and testing to be prepared for the release of "Android M". And i hope someone can implement it.

No Compass on G4 (Plus)???

Is that true?? Why??

Yes true that there is no compass but really you can't expect all the sensors and high end configs for a mid-ranger. It is a mid-ranger and it will have some cons. As far as I see it, maybe the NFC would be a drawback. I wouldn't really worry about the compass sensor. I don't think it would be useful very much. But its just my opinion, you may need it.
But compass is a fairly basic sensor......
Does it mean there will be no navigation support on G4 (Plus)?
Will the gyroscope help?
Yes, I am also just worried about navigation. Is it possible for Maps to direction based on Mobile Data/Wifi in the absence of magnetometer?

I do believe the Gyro would be suffice. Even the G3 didn't have one and I think not many people complained of it. They were able to navigate without a Gyro too. I am not sure how the compass sensors work or how useful they would be but I don't care anyway lol

The gyro won't help. However, the compass isn't necessary for navigation. The GPS is what you need, which can locate you wherever you are, so it can tell what way you're going. If you really need to know what way is north, South... and it's nighttime do you can't figure out from the sun, you'll need to open up maps, and start walking, and you'll see in what direction you're moving.

I wasn't aware G3 had a compass. I know its a basic sensor but maybe Motorola thought it wasn't useful so ditched it.

According to gsmarena, yes. The g2 also had, but it was a horrible gyro that was clearly not tested. I couldn't find any info on the play and regular edition
I asked the compass question in motorola's Forum and this was Matt's answer:
No, it does not have a compass/magnetometer. It does have GPS but won't support a compass app.
That make's it a NONO for hiking because a low speed or standing stil at crossroads you definitely need this to show "the way" aka rotate the map or the guiding arrow (like in Locus Pro). GPS does this at speeds above maybe 6 km/h.

There you go. Confirmed that it doesn't have the magnetic compass. Strange.. Why would Motorola do such a thing. Someone also replied on the other thread this could be the reason the phone doesn't support driving mode which was supported on g3!!!

Why would they do such a thing? Because most people won't realise and won't care. That's why. I personally do care, but I'm the minority.
Yeah pretty sucks. Hope they release G4 Turbo like G3 and include a proper compass. but don't hold your heads up the chance is slim.

Of course. The only issue would be with the cardboard v1, where the button, which was two magnets that didn't even touch the screen, wouldn't work as the phone doesn't contain a magnetometer (aka digital compass). Though even many phones which do don't work because of the placement.

Anyone bought a RN3P recently and got an FPC fingerprint sensor? If so, where from?

Hey, I want to buy this phone, however I'm concerned that apparently some newer Redmi Note 3 Pros come with the Goodix fingerprint sensor that is incompatible with many ROMs.
So if anyone has recently bought a RN3P and got an FPC sensor, where did you buy from?
Where are you from I mean country
I bought a Kenzo from here 3 weeks ago..
http://stores.ebay.com.au/Compraelmundo-Inc?_dmd=2&_nkw=redmi+note+3+pro
(note - they no longer appear to offer the 3/32Gb version that I bought)
Shipping was surprisingly quick, around 10 days to Australia.
and I can see no Goodix folder in Root/data
Fingerprint works perfectly to unlock in Exodus ROM.
I didn't really use MIUI to find out if the FP reader could be used for photos.
Flashed to China Developer ROM from the hacked bootloader Vendor ROM, then officially unlocked Bootloader and rooted, then flashed TWRP and then Exodus.

Thanks, I took a chance and ordered from geekbuying. I hope it'll be alright, if not I can probably find some reason to return/replace it.
Bought one like 2 weeks ago from Gearbest. It has the FPC sensor. They were even out of stock for like 2 weeks when I placed my order.
Im having 2nd thoughts also on buying this device because of the different FP hardware and some roms doesn't support Goodix FP (yet).

Thanks, that's good news - I should probably be fine then. In my experience the Chinese stores all seem to use the same suppliers.. Back when I was trying to find a Yellow MI4C, which I still think looks really awesome, all the Chinese sites that claimed to have them went out of stock almost simultaneously.

Bought one from Mi India store about 2 weeks back. Got FPC fingerprint sensor. Everything except encryption and flip cover action is working in AOSP based ROMs without issues.
Got mine from aliexpress however that was almost 4 months ago but the fingerprint works everywhere

How exactly did you flashed exodus? I have a Kenzo with FPC fingerprint sensor but i can't make it work in Exodus Rom. The only thing i think i did different from you is this:
- from TWRP, did a full wipe.
-installed CM13 Firmware
-installed Exodus
-installed Radon Kernel
Can you help me with this? Thanks in advance.
I got mine from Flipkart - grey ,32Gb model last week and its having FPC sensor (I think if you can take a pic using fingerprint sensor then you have FPC and so I can).

I flashed mine to China Developer ROM with MiFlash tool,
rooted then installed TWRP
put the Exodus Zip and GApps zip on a microSD
Full wipe in TWRP (cache, Dalvik cache, system, data, storage)
Then installed Exodus (did not install CM13)
and GApps
reboot
got mine from aliexpress - 'xiaomi authorized store' in august, manufactured 2016.7 has fpc sensor confirmed using custom kernels and fp to use camera, also has a good lcd (white not yellow), and all the newest sensors it also doesn't suffer from the gyroscope bug that plagued older models - it has the new sensortek proximity / light sensor vs the liteon sensor that can be affected (in low light the gyroscope would stop working in these models, or be very sluggish)-
I think xiaomi did a revision update behind the scenes or different factory's use different parts or the china / india phones use different parts-
so basicly you have to look out for several things
FPC vs GOODIX (FP Sensor)
Sensortek vs Liteon (proximity sensor / Light sensor)
White LCD vs Yellow LCD (some displays have a yellow white instead of white white)
Front camera can also have different models - not sure how many models there are
now these could be the differences from the 2 / 16 gb vs 3 / 32 gb too
BTW, How to check which FP scanner I got? I just received the phone couple of hrs ago from Snapdeal.

best way to check is go to open the camera app. press finger on fp sensor if it takes a picture then you have the FPC if not then goodix,

You should this command over adb.

My God, I needed a new and cheap phone, I'm leaving a Note 6 Pro that is already tired. But I think I regret buying this "Poco M3"
The gyroscope I saw in POCO M3's test mode is "Voltafield gyro Gyroscope Non-wakeup", it is a soft gyroscope.
Sorry guys, have u ever experienced some issues or bugs with the accelerometer/gyroscope sensor on the device? I've read many threads about some issue in the sensor and I hope not to be the only one and find some fix
