I suppose that might work, it doesn't actually list recovery roms. But as you can see my device is in download mode ?
Maybe I just need an unbranded stock rom?

well, you have it in download mode in that pic, so it seems that youre wanting to flash a tar file via Odin. The pic is a bit blurry, but it looks like a G900F, is this the case? Does it not boot? What are you trying to accomplish? Whats the symptom?

I had downloaded the file but when I rebooted I got that? I thought when using twrp after I chose the downloaded file, it would reboot with the new Rom?

Yes I think I just need a Rom now for Samsung galaxy s5 g900f. I can't seem to find it, the ones i tried downloading were ridiculously slow eta 8 hours and keep falling.
I've installed Odin and the Samsung usb drivers on my pc.

well, if youre able to boot to download mode, then you might just need TWRP and a custom ROM. sammobile.com/firmwares (specifically https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G900F/ for your phone) is THE reputable place for tar.md5's, but is known for its slow speed and if your computer goes into hibernate at all, the downloads will fail. But, you might be able to get away with flashing TWRP, putting your choice of ROM on to your sd card and installing it from there.

androidfilehost is always a good alternative, but finding one can be daunting. The G900F is a very popular phone, so it shouldnt be that tough to find actually
here is a german 6.0.1 tar.md5. Should have whatever other language youd need in it as well

Ok So I tried using that rom with Odin. But it seems to have failed. And it tells me to use "kies" recovery.
I even searched that And found the software, but it wouldn't run on Windows.
So just what am I doing wrong here?
I downloaded Odin installed it, ran it under ap I chose the German Rom listed above. After a while it appears next to ap so I start the process off and eventually it says FAIL on Odin and my mobile says I need to go into recovery with kies.
Uhm this is starting to annoy me now [emoji15]

Rooting noob needs advice

Hi guys, new to the forum and a total noob rooting and custom roms etc. I have a note 3 SM-N9005 which i have just "successfully?" rooted with supersu flashed with clockwork recovery and am now running CM11 I installed the google apps package and it all seems to be running well apart from a few glitches. Does all this sound right? And how does it update? I'm aware that I am not running an official CM version but when that becomes available how do i get that running? Do I have to go through the process again?
Thanks in advance for the first of many stupid questions

You said you have SM-N9005 but the signature is SM-N9000. What is the problem.
Cyanogen build is reporting wrong is all. Nothing to worry about. Build.prop just needs changed... Now to answer the question. .
If you stay on the base you're on now you can dirty flash new builds over. But if you are changing cm from different devs you'll need to wipe and install from scratch.
You're better wiping and installing from scratch as it tends to solve 99% of issues.

This build is the one that Ibtimes listed
EDIT: Also for builds with some additional features, there is temasek's build, ProBAM and BAM - but obviously it is up to you which one you choose and to which one you prefer. - Pong's build was the first main build here at xda, and he's been doing daily updates to fix errors, a lot of people seem happy and content with that build right now, so unless you are looking for something different, you could stay on it without any major issues

Thanks. I had a look at PROBAM and flashed that on. I really like it. The only problem I had was with instruction number 7 select recommended kernel for first install.
What does this mean? The ROM is working fine and I couldn't find an option on cwm recovery. Lol I can just imagine the heads shaking reading this
Thanks

Can't select a kernel on installing that. Well not that I seen anyway, it includes a custom CM kernel - wouldn't worry about it too much.
But when custom kernels for CM do come round, flashing is pretty simple, just boot into recovery and flash the .zip. -- just be careful setting voltages etc cause what works for others won't work for you sometimes and may bootloop your phone. (it can be fixed) - As for the shaking heads, I wouldn't worry too much, we all started somewhere
Cheers radicalisto you've been a big help

I had the same problem on a different phone if you go into the TW RP or CWM you should be able to do a factory reset that's the only way I was able to fix my other phone not being able to flash anything after brick so give that a shot and let me know what happens

They did but not for the SM-S920L. There is still no rom including stock for this phone.
I'm not sure what that rom is. It was posted in the dev forum and op offered almost no details. All I know is that the file name is SM-S920L3.tar and it weighs in at 1.4GB.

In that case they must have put it up just recently. Things are starting to look up for us after all.
Maybe, I'm not going to be the guinea pig here and risk my phone on some unknown rom without a custom recovery available to backup and restore my phone should something go wrong.

Thanks, man! I'm having a few issues that I can live with with my phone, but if this works ok, I might just flash it. Oh, and I spoke with a few Straight Talk CS reps and they say that neither Tracfon, nor Samsung are going to release a stock ROM for 5.0.2. Perhaps some day we'll get an update to 5.1.1.
Ok so I it flashed in about 3 minutes for me with a pass. I noticed a set bit warranty: cache and system. I pulled the battery and then powered back on and got this:

Edit: model number

How bad did I mess up?

I updated my att galaxy s5 using the chainfire for a rooted 5.0 and everything was awesome and then It was time to trade in my Galaxy so I decided to reset it to stock. I messed up by not clicking unroot in SuperSU and trying to restore using odin and stock firmware (4.4), now my phone is soft bricked. I can get it to the Odin Mode screen and the download screen but Odin fails on every attempt to flash a new ROM. I remember now that I believe it said if you flash to the custom 5.0 rooted rom that you can not return to 4.4 because it locks the bootloader to 5.0 or something. Am I screwed and have to wait for a 5.0 firmware file to be released or is there something I can do to fix this?
I believe you have to downgrade to a kitkat bootloader(4.4) and then flash the stock rom. Try that and tell me if it helps on flashing stock rom.
How would I go about downgrading?
Try this.

I'm assuming the chainfire root you mentioned was you using flashfire to flash the prerooted L rom since that's the only way in aware of, if that's the case you're fine to downgrade as long as you use the right file, which is pretty much as long as its for your model, the flashfire thread has the downgrade_to_NCE odin package which I can personally verify works fine to downgrade.

Yeah, I think I may of taken the oc4 update becasue flashing it with Odin didnt work. I DID however get it to work by flashing the OC4 Kernal and then afterwards flashing the G900A_OC4_Stock_ Partitions. However im not sure if everything is in working order now, certain apps etc. dont start up when clicked.
Everything seems like its working after a quick restart actually, and Root Checker somehow says I still have root.

Flashed I337 ROM on I9500. It won't return.

I mistakenly flashed I337(At&t) rom on my I9500 S4. I tried Odin but it won't work. Why can't I return the rom? And How will I do that?
Also, I erased the stock partition using Safestrap. Now I can't even flash the I337 rom (which I waa able to before usibg Safestrap). It gets stuck at
"Get PIT for mapping.."
Then shows,
"Complete(Write) operation failed."

Why do you flash a I337 rom on it if you have a I9500 model?
As I said, try a different USB port and cable. Try with repartition too. Make sure the pit file is from a I9500!

And make sure you don't flash an older firmware, as it will be considered downgrading and fail.

The i9500 and I337 have different hardware and different bootloaders. You may have to take the phone to a repair shop and have them jtag the phone to get it back to being a 9500. Odin probably thinks the phone is now an i337 and will not load a stock 9500 rom.

Boot your phone into download mode. What does it say your model is in download mode?

The i9500 and I337 have different hardware and different bootloaders. You may have to take the phone to a repair shop and have them jtag the phone to get it back to being a 9500. Odin probably thinks the phone is now an i337 and will not load a stock 9500 rom.

It seems very logical. How will the repair shop fix it tho?
Sent from my ASUS_Z00AD using XDA-Developers mobile app
The shop would connect a jtag cable and force flash the rom.

I dont know how but one of my friend had galaxy s3 which also was like this.

Official lollipop upgrade failed

I was upgrading my Verizon note 3 from 4.4.4 to 5.0 using Samsung kies and the update failed. I tried to do emergency recovery but it says to take the battery out and reboot into recovery holding up volume, power, home button. Instead booting into recovery it just goes back to the this image. Can anybody pls help me?

Were you rooted or just on plain old stock?
Best way I know to fix is via a PC, using Odin to load stock firmware from Verizon.
Or, you may be able to get a company Verizon store (not a verizon reseller) to reflash it.

It's on a Un- rooted stock Verizon 4.4.4. Going to Verizon probably out the question, finished contract and went to net 10. I can get phone in download mode (volume down, power, home button) I tried Odin but it failed also. But I may have been doing something wrong. Not real knowleable on these things. Does anybody have a link to stock Verizon 4.4.4? Another thing, my pc is not recognizing my phone now also.

You can get stock 4.4.4 from www.sammobile.com, you have to join to download firmware, but it's free.
They also have a link for Odin and how to use it.

Odin does work... Apparently you don't.
I can't read your mind... Tell me what you did and tell me if you enabled usb debugging and what version of Odin and which "slot" you put the firmware and if you have unzipped the firmware so odin sees a xxxx.tar.md5 file

I wasn't getting smart... The comment "odin doesn't work" means nothing just like " I got it to work" means nothing.
Other people can't read your messages and learn anything, or give you any advice.
If you had said... I tried xxx and got this error yyy then someone reading your post can suggest changes to what you are doing.
If you had said... I now did this instead and it worked... Then some other user could read your post and learn perhaps how to solve their problem all by themselves.

This is what you said.
(Odin doesn't work....Apparently you don't.).That's making a smart remark at me.
Its no problem.
How I got it to work was to use the stock 01 lollipop Rom not the 06.I think that's what you call them.
