Led indicator for email and messages - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answers

After updating to nougat, the led indicator was not working for the Samsung email app. After
experimenting a bit, I discovered it does work only if you enable vibration for notifications
(I am using Silent for the sound notification). You can turn the vibration off with the slider found under
sound and vibration intensity, notifications. This behaves differently that it did on marshmallow.
The sms messages app (google) does work with the led indicator without having vibrate on.

I don't have vibration set for any notifications and my LED light works for email and sms.

I expect a reset would fix mine. I have experimented extensively and seems I have to turn on vibration to get
led's to work.
I did find that leds work without vibration on if you use an audible sound on email. If sound is set to silent,
the the led's do not work without vibration on.

Wake up LCD light on incoming calls/texts/emails on 8525

My 8525 LCD doesn't wake up when there incoming calls/texts/emails and I have to press the power button to wake up the LCD light so is there a way to set it to wake the LCD light itself when there are incoming notifications?
Thanks
Bill
Start/Settings/Sounds & Notifications
Notifications tab
Display message on screen should do that I believe..
I wish I could make mine NOT light up!
I just figured out that it does light up on incoming calls and text and always had been but never lights up on incoming instant message or emails or any notifications which I been wanting it to do and get more often than a call or text.
Look like there no way to get it to light up on other notifications and does anyone know if there a registery setting to force any notifications to power up the device other than just only incoming calls or texts?
Thanks
Bill

Vibrate Mode for SMS?

Anyone else having problems with their SMS apps when on vibrate mode? Handcent and SMS popup both do not vibrate when my phone is on vibration mode. Is it me or is it the apps? Any apps people recommend for SMS vibrations?
You have to turn on vibrate within each app you want to vibrate: gmail, mail, messages, etc. This means that vibrate is on all the time, and if you turn your phone volume up it still vibrates. It would be nice to have a situation dependent setting, but I like vibrate on all the time, even if I have the ringer on.
mine dont vibrate either

Lol, I know this already...but even when the notifications are on, it still does not vibrate. I'm guessing it's the apps I'm using...I think the developers need to update for our vibrants.
Here's a fix.

Actually try it before saying it doesn't, because it does work.

Wow, it actually works. THANKS A LOT DKYang!
F.Y.I. on this. I noticed that if you lower completly down the 'vibration intensity', though labeled as the intensity for touch vibration, it controls the vibration for sms vibration as well. It took some playing around to find this.

Notification light

on my old phones the light would link when i had a text, voicemail, or missed call. this damn phone blinks like 5 times... is there an easy fix?
Missed Reminder
http://www.appbrain.com/app/missed-reminder/ru.orangesoftware.areminder
My settings
Turn the screen on - Unchecked
Popup - Unchecked
Vibrate - Unchecked
Ringtone - Silent
Blink Led - Unchecked
Notification intervals - 1s
Number of repeats - Forever
This helps keep the LED blinking on DK28. This even works when I have the Blue LED set within Go SMS.

I can't get it to work. Do you need Froyo for the LED blinking config?
I have successfully used it on DI18. Try setting Blink Led enabled, Led blink interval 500 ms.
missed reminder works great. thak you so much i tried it before but it didnt work.
It works for me but I can't get it to blink blue :-(
Blue only works on froyo... the blinking control works on di18 but not led color changes and we only have blue and red on froyo

Vibration notifications

For some reason I cant stop my notifications from vibrating when my phone is in vibrate mode. Its been a while but Im pretty sure in the past on my S7 I was able to have my notifications muted if my phone was in vibrate mode (except for texts and calls). I only want my phone to vibrate when I receive a call or a text if I am in vibrate mode. Otherwise I want all other notification sounds and vibration silent/muted/no vibrate when I have the phone in vibrate mode. This may have changed with a recent OTA update, currently on PE1. Am I missing something?
1) In settings/Sound and Vibration, Vibrate while ringing is checked and actually grayed out, I cannot unselect it. Which is fine because I want it to vibrate when ringing unless I mute the phone.
2) In Email notifications, notifications are on, but Vibrate is turned off and actually grayed out, I cannot turn it on. I have 3 email accounts setup through the built in Email app and all 3 are set to the same thing. Yet, it still vibrates when I get a notification.
I thought I had this figured out but apparently not. I ONLY want phone and texts to vibrate my phone when in vibrate mode. I want all other notifications muted. I have email vibration turned OFF but it still vibrates, along with most other notifications. Since I have 3 email accounts set up on my phone, this is quite annoying. What am I missing? Does vibrate mode make everything vibrate even if I have vibrate turned off on nearly all apps?
Try using do not disturb instead. You can customize it to allow phone and text messaging to go thru, and mutes everything else
Vibrate mode means vibrate. Why would you expect it not to vibrate when you use a setting called "Vibrate"?

Is there a way to turn off LED Notifications when the phone is in Do Not Disturb mode

I received a new Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge the other week, and I've sufficiently customized Do Not Disturb to reflect the settings I used to have on my HTC M9, except for one caveat: the LED notification light still blinks even though the phone is in Do Not Disturb.
I really don't mind LED notifications most of the time, but I turn my phone in to Do Not Disturb Mode when I sleep, and if I receive an e-mail or some other notification, I am greeting with a bright, blinking notification light.
Do any of you know of a means of conditionally turning off LED notifications, an alternative Do Not Disturb app, or any other means besides just turning off the notification LED completely?
