Signal Connectivity Issues - Sony Xperia X Compact Questions & Answers

Greetings
I am currently unable to obtain a connection to my carrier (T-MO) unless I toggle airplane mode on and then off. I'll get LTE for 30 seconds to a minute and then it will drop to no service. In service providers, the network shows up (LTE and 2G), but will not let me connect.
I have ran software repair, reflashed the firmware and even gotten a new sim. At my wits end, had a Z1C prior and never had these issues. APN was entered per T-MO standards.
Anyone run into this issue before?

Did you ever get this resolved? I've had an issue twice now where I've had to remove my SIM card and reinsert it because it couldn't detect it. Last time was a few months ago and then again just today.

Phone has Randomly gone into NO SERVICE

my phone hasnt gotten any signal for the last 2 days. i dont know what happened, the phone just says NO SERVICE. I know its not my T-Mobile account since my sim card works perfectly on another phone. this phone has never been dropped, and its only about 3-4 wees old. It started when I was eating lunch in my school's cafeteria (which is underground) when i noticed i had no service and a "g" every once in a while (theres usually atleast 2 bars and always 3g since my school is downtown). i thought nothing of it since it was underground, but my signal never came back.
what should i do? i flashed the newest radio earlier and now i dont even get the "g" anymore.
it's running virtous 0.8.1 with S-OFF. i also tried my cyanogenmod backup but there was no difference.
im going to try to return everything back to stock and see if it works. did this happen to anyone else? if so how did you fix it?
does anyone have any information that could help?
Probably a long shot, but have you tried enabling and then disabling airplane mode?
Idk if this'll work, but hey its worth a try call *#*#4636#*#* and change your settings, it should restart your network. Hopefully.

Did you test the SIM in another phone? Did you try enabling 2G networks only to determine if this is related to 3G/4G? Did you call tmo to see if there are network issues in your area?
What is your city location?

i have tried those things, when i do *#*#4636#*#*, it shows that i have a signal but it doesnt show on the status bar or that im connected to tmobile. when i go to select network in settings, it says my sim card wont allow me to connect to this network, which makes no sense since its a tmobile sim card and was working fine 2 days ago.
i live in Buffalo, NY. there is no network outage here since i tried my sim in another phone and it worked fine

All bets are off until you restore the stock rom with OTA update. Post back once you've returned it to factory because tbh, nobody from T-Mobile can or will help you either if your phone is all jacked up.

This is a network issue, its not your rom, no worries. When registration fails or network not allowed happens, tmo needs to send an engineer to the local towers to fix it up or file a trouble ticket. Is it happening within your home area, such as a 7 - 10 mile radius - or wider.
Take my word for it, you need to call

I have the same problem, and I'm in the LA area. Called, T-Mo and they said there werent any outages at the time.
Tried enable/disable airplane mode. no go.
Tried enabling only 2g mode. no go.
I don't have another phone with me to try my sim card in right now, so will try that later (T-mo rep said to use the new sim card).
I'm running stock on my g2. Will update when I get it fixed.
I'm having the same issues. went back to the stock ROM. went through several different ROMs still, the same.
Someone PLEASE help.
Sim card try another, seriously, happend to me once and a friend... went back to stock and everything.
G2 doesn't like sim cards....
Same thing happened to me. Card worked in my old G1 but not my G2...it was less than 30 days so they replaced it. This is worrying me though...I hope it's not a common issue that can just happen any time.

[Q] Who else is having issues with keeping a connection to AT&T?

Right out of the box, after I popped in my att sim (now microsim) card that originally was for an Atrix 4G, I noticed that after the cell connection was idle for like 10 seconds, I would loose any and all connection with the cell network. My N4 still recognizes that it has a sim card inserted, and is aware of my phone number, but no matter what it won't reconnect with the cell network until I reboot the phone, and then this cycle continues all over again. Call quality and reception are great when I have it however. I've already messed around with some of the suggested APN settings, but even of those work, my problem still remains. Does anyone know what's going on here? Do I just need to go into an ATT store and get an official microsim? And I don't know if it's related, but I can't seem to get any type of GPS connection/lock either. Not a single time since I've had the phone (it arrived today).
EDIT: Seriously? No one else it having this problem? I even got a new microsim today and activated it, but the same problem is still present. Is this a Nexus 4 problem, or a carrier problem?

Axon 7 Nougat Verizon - SIM issues!

I just "upgraded" to Android 7.0 today. My carrier is Verizon.
I'm not sure what's up with it or how to troubleshoot it, however I need my phone back up as soon as possible.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! This is kind of a big deal for me.
Under Dual Sim Settings->Network mode it says the following:
Card 1: LTE/WCDMA/GSM
Card 2: missing or error
However, it's not connected to Verizon's network at all.
I've tried popping the sim in and out, along with restarting the device.
edit:
A SOLUTION HAS BEEN FOUND

I managed to get a hold of a friend's active AT&T phone. Put his sim into slot 1, rebooted and put the Verizon sim back into slot 1 once the AT&T sim was recognized.
This resolved my issue. I just did it so I don't know if it's a permanent fix or not.

I had to remove both my SIMs, put my GSM (T-Mobile) SIM in slot 1...wait for the phone to recognize the SIM...then reboot a few times...then turn it off...put my Verizon and T-Mobile SIMs in slot 1 and 2 respectively...and then reboot. It's worked fine ever since. An old, inactive GSM SIM or a friend's will work fine for this procedure.
But yeah lots of people are having this issue with Verizon SIMs after the update. Really annoying...but it does seem fixable in most cases.

Thanks, I have a friend with a GSM sim. I'll try this out tomorrow night.
@flyer_andy has helped me too with this problem. I had to buy a straight talk sim from Walmart for $50 to get this thing working. I had to do it because i updated on the way to work. Once got to work i had no phone :crying: lol
I had to use my sisters sim card. I turned off the phone, put hers in, once it saw T-Mobile, I took the SIM out while the phone was on, swapped and was good to go. Boots just fine with Verizon data.

Just had a similar issue, running dual SIM. My T Mobile SIM which I use for the mobile data lost its data connection and would not reconnect, showed full Signal but no data. I eventually had to swap the 1 and 2 positions and now it is working.

I hope a phone came with it for that price.
I picked up a SimpleMobile (T-Mobile MVNO) SIM at Family Dollar for $1.
I also had the unexplained automatic reboots after installing B15 last night. It also wasn't recognizing the SIM. It wasn't even recognizing the GSM SIM. I did a couple factory resets and reboots with the GSM installed. I t looks like it needed the radio reset like back in the old A20 days. It eventually recognized the GSM SIM. I then switched out the PagePlus SIM, and added the Tracfone APN.
Everything I looked at seems to be working. Speedtest is showing 5.46 mbps down, but only 100 kpbs up. I think that's about normal for me.

I wrote too soon. I'm back to no service. I'm not sure when service disappeared
I tried putting in the GSM SIM and rebooting a few times.
I put my PagePlus SIM in my old Galaxy S4 to try to have that recognized on the network.
I powered off the Axon and replaced the SIM with the PagePlus one.
It starts up and shows No SIM card, then No Service, then Verizon Wireless for a few seconds, then back to No Service.
It looks like the problem I had when going to A29, but the solution to fix it then isn't working.
Edit:
I did a factory reset with the PagePlus SIM inserted. It came up with phone service. I had to add the TRACFONE.VZWENTP APN.
It then showed an LTE connection. I shut off Wifi, and it started to load a web page. It then stopped loading, and went back to No Service at the top.

Do you have a Verizon phone that you can stick your PP SIM into, to verify that the SIM correctly works?
i'm having similar data connectivity issues with my Axon 7 and at&t after the Nougat update. Axon 7 is rooted with B15, using 1-sim and a microSD, here's my issue description
-
day 1-3: 4G/LTE connection working, no data issues
day 3: 4G/LTE connection working, can connect to web pages, but could not connect to Google Play, Youtube,Google News and none of my 3 Exchange email accounts. Switch to Wifi and no issues connecting to any Google Play, Youtube,Google News and none of my 3 Exchange email accounts
day 4: Same issues as day 3, factory reset manually reinstall all apps, email accounts, etc. after a couple of reboots, could not connect to Google Play, Youtube,Google News and none of my 3 Exchange email accounts. tried Lineage OS and 4 hours after fully setup, problem is back. with Lineage OS, signal bars showed no signal with each connection attempt and after 30 seconds, connection timed out and signal bars would return.
Troubleshooting:
- swapped sims from two working devices into the Axon 7 and same no-connection/time-out connectivity issues with Google Play, Youtube,Google News and my 3 Exchange email accounts
- all 3 sims tested work in every device except the Axon 7
- at&t re-provisioned my account and confirmed there are not issues on their end.
i'm stumped. any suggestions would be appreciated. otherwise, i'm in my 14-day window and my have to return the device. thanks.
When the verizon sim is installed, is global mode an option under settings, network settings (not the 4636 menu)? If so, try that.

I should have been clearer. The PP SIM works fine with my old Galaxy S4. I miss a lot of incoming calls with it, but that isn't configuration related. It's always done that.
Thank you for the reply.
Can't recognize ATT sim either..
Pull the sim and factory reset, reset network settings also. Then put the sim in and keep factory resetting until it's recognized. Took 3 tries on my phone and 5 on my friends.

Are you all able to use HD Voice & video calling with the native dialer on the Verizon network? Some phones have an option under settings called 'Advanced Calling'. This is where you can turn on HD Voice & Video Calling for Verizon.

G930U on freedompop, no LTE connection.

I have been battling with this no LTE case for this Galaxy S7, BYOD. This is the official US unlocked version, and works with Sprint (on their whitelist), furthermore, my wife has the same phone rocking LTE with FP right now (BYOD as well, so on sprint network), so it's compatible with FP's service.
My understanding for FP byod (based on previous exp) is that if the phone was activated on Sprint network before, the MEID and the ICCID info is stored together, so even if BYOD process only ask for MEID, as long as you have the previous activated SIM, the ICCID info get carried together, so you normally would have no problem getting LTE.
This Phone was never activated on Sprint before, so when I first activated it BYOD, so no previous SIM info, but I plugged in a compatible SIM that was activated on Sprint network before (with another MEID though). My initial activation had problem (red bar on my account summary), had to email customer service to add this ICCID. Phone passed the hands free activation and all. No problem using the fp apps, phone, sms, cellular network worked (only 3G).
I then started to do all kinds of reset trying to get LTE connection. I have done,
1.##72786# carrier reset
2. Restore APN setting to default, clear cache, reboot
3. Matching all the LTE related parameter with a known LTE connected phone (my wife's GS7)
4. factory reset
5.Deactivate and then reactivate the GS7 (by swapping devices between two fp accounts)
Now almost three months now, I'm still facing the same issue. FP customer service has been helpful doing the routine checks, but not beyond the suggestion of PRL update/reactivation. The final solution they offered was to deactivate the account and the activate the GS7 with another byod account. I did this just today, by swapping another device in this account, and then reactivate the GS7 to that account.
My very first concern is if the ICCID info has been accurate (not missing or mistaken a digit), but I asked them to verify this at least three times, nothing came back as error.
Compared to my wife's same GS7 with fp, my phone is rather slow to establish the 3G mobile data connection, for example, her phone would almost show LTE instaneously after a reboot, but my phone would be at least after a min to show the 3g icon.
Can someone share some insights on what else I could do? I just could not think of anything else from my phone side to do. A note worthy thing is, when I helped BYOD my wife's GS7, I was in the same boat of needing to add ICCID via customer service to pass HFA, and then all the reset to get the LTE. I actually wasn't able to get LTE connection by what I did, shut off the phone with 3G connection, but next morning I turned on the phone, LTE was there. Along with me, I saw multiple users who had similar no-LTE problem report they were getting LTE same day.
I'm currently in the same situation. I've even tried adding the AT&T LTE bands as instructed on this thread and I'm still maxing out at H+. Anyone know how to enable LTE on unlocked Sprint S7? Any help would be appreciated.

S7 SM-G930V can't connect to Verizon Mobile Data

Hi everyone, so I recently purchased an S7 SM-G930V and I'm having some problems with the mobile data connection and was hoping that someone on here might be able to help me out. I've been heavily researching and trying everything I can find online for 2 weeks now trying to figure out why I cannot get this phone to connect to mobile data and I'm about to give up and use it for target practice.
So here's the story:
I bought the phone from a seller on Ebay (I know I know) and it showed up in flawless condition externally and SEEMED to work perfectly. Upon receipt of the phone, I noticed that my current simcard wouldn't fit so I took the phone to verizon to get the nano sim and have it activated. The guy put the sim in and booted it up but after about 15 min the phone was still saying that it was "activating" so (being in a hurry) I told him that I'd just let it activate and be on my way. About an hour later my phone chimed saying that activation was complete but I noticed that it was showing H+R for a data connection which I believe meant I was roaming? Anyway I didn't think much of it because I was in a pretty rural spot in Alaska and the service was spotty.
Now here is where the problems started. Once I got home I noticed that the phone was not picking up any 4G LTE data at all and was bouncing back and forth between 3g and 1x but wasn't actually connecting to them, just finding them (greyed out). I rebooted the phone to see if maybe it just needed to update the local towers or something but it still would not connect to any mobile data at all so I took it back to the verizon store and they swapped the sim for a new one. Now, the phone will not activate AT ALL. The guy tried 3 different sim cards and nothing. It shows fully connected (5 signal bars) for voice but just cycles randomly between 3g and 1x data and will not connect to them let alone even find 4g lte service. When it connects to the towers it shows Verizon Wireless as the connected carrier but since it can't connect to data, it won't activate. The guy finally told me to call tech support and after about 3 hours on the phone with them, they pretty much told me they don't know what's wrong and to get a new phone.
So I decided to hit the internet and try out every option I could find before just sending the phone back. However, after countless hours of tinkering with the phone including rooting the phone, updating the firmware, factory resetting multiple times, clearing cache, disabling the cell radio and changing settings in build.prop, default.prop, apns_config.xml etc etc and getting nowhere I am stuck. I was really hoping that this was just a software issue or APN/modem/radio band etc issue that I could fix but it's looking like it might be a hardware problem or it's way above my skill set.
TL;DR
Verizon Galaxy S7 will not connect to any Verizon Mobile Data Network and therefor will not activate but it will connect to data while roaming? Any and all suggestions, help or advice is appreciated! Even if it's just to tell me that the hardware is faulty and I need to replace the phone. I just need some opinions from the pros if possible. Thanks guys/gals.
