S7 edge dbt. E:failed to mount /data (Invalid argument) + random reboots - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hello guys,
Since I have bought this phone I had a constant problem with random reboots minumum 3-4 daily, I have tried to factory reset 2 or 3 times but no luck the random reboots continue. After I wipe the cache partition I get this E:failed to mount /data (Invalid argument) before my phone boots. I have not changed anything no flashing no rooting no what so ever.I hope you can help me.
Sincerely,
Ali

That's because the S7 and S7 Edge have encrypted storage. The only way to flash packages is by removing the encryption (which means factory resetting your phone)

[Q] S7-101's (NOT Slim) touchscreen stops working

Hi everyone,
My S7-101's (with just a front camera) touch screen just stopped responding... Device boots up OK, everything else seems fine (actually, at one point screen was responding "a bit" but now nothing again).
I've tried to re-flash the Brasilian ROM (best so far for 101 devices; initially, when I bought the device, it came with Norwegian sttock ROM, but now I cannot find to download it again; all existing links for it on Huawei site are not working), reapply the Clockwork Recovery, I've hard reset it, cleared/wiped everything possible but still no luck.
Flashing South African ROM does not help; it's for the SLIM version and installation hangs after ~one third of the installation process (HW buttons start blinking rapidly and no progress).
My \data\app folder is completely empty (no *launcher*.* to clear).
One note: during the wipe cache procedure I got some errors:
Code:
ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.1.8 xauBeta v0.11
-- Wiping cache...
Formatting CACHE...
Cache wipe complete.
E:Can't mount /dev/block/ntdblock5
(Invalid argument)
E: can't mount CACHE:recovery/log
E: can't open CACHE:recovery/log
E:Can't mount /dev/block/ntdblock5
(Invalid argument)
Not sure if it helps.
Does anyone knows what should I do/try to do to fix this?
Thanks all in advance.

[Q] com.android.phone crashing on every boot

Hello everybody,
I flashed today the Polish 4.4.2 and on every boot the phone starts off by giving me an error that "com.android.phone" has stopped working and for a while it's a bit laggy and sometimes Settings crashes too. My IMEI is alright and I also tried fixing by factory reset from both Settings and recovery. I reflashed many times and even tried the XEH Hungarian ROM which has the same problem. This was starting to get really infuriating so I flashed CWM (thus tripping Knox) and tried flashing this zip but to no avail. What's interesting is that if I remove the SIM card I don't receive the error anymore and the phone works as it should speed-wise. Also while having my SIM in the phone I noticed that it also takes a while before it manages to connect to my PC right after booting and when I try without the SIM then it connects much faster.
Other then going tomorrow to my carrier and changing my SIM what else do you recommend me to do?
Thank you for your time!

Did you dirty flash and keep data intact? if so you'll need to wipe and reflash, as KK has a different file system and can cause issues.

I already mentioned I reflashed and wiped countless times. At the moment I'm actually thinking of trying the Netherlands ROM.

You stated you factory reset, not wiped, the difference is data. - You could always trying wiping /system - but you'll need the PIT file incase you mess up the partitions, - Reflash it after a /system wipe. (PIT file is your fall back just in case) - If you're unsure about wiping /system then have a good read up on it, once you're confident then give it a shot, if not then don't try it.

I formatted /System, /Data, /Cache and /SDCard from CWM, after that rebooted in Download Mode and now I'm flashing again the ROM. If this doesn't work then I'm attempting the Netherlands ROM even though it's CSC is different then the Hungarian and Polish ROM.
Later edit: After another flash it still crashes. I'm going to try now the Netherlands ROM since it's been downloaded.
Later edit 2: Same story as before I wiped/formatted /System, /Data, /Cache and /SDCard from CWM, then flashed in Odin 3.09 the Netherlands PHN ROM and I still get crashes when it's booting. Tomorrow (it's technically today since it's 2:30AM lol) I'm getting another SIM. Hope this will be the solution still if anybody has any idea what else I can do I am more then welcome to hear your ideas.
It seems changing my sim solved the issue, which is odd because the old sim wasn't even old enough. Out of this whole ordeal I lost my Knox 0x0 status and 12$ for a new sim. Thank you Samsung for implementing Knox and making my life easy!

Nice, the typical "I messed up my device, but I am not at fault. The manufacturer is responsible" attitude.
I'm sorry, I wish I could help you

Phone won't boot after charging overnight

Hey, I'm in a very strange situation. The thing is I left my phone to charge overnight just like usual (made it reboot before doing so), when I woke up today I've noticed that it was bootlooping like crazy along with being very hot to the touch, like it was about to go off :x. Rebooting resulted in nothing, phone still bootloops. After entering TWRP and trying to look for my backup I also noticed that it shows "Internal storage (0mb)", what is totally weird considering that I've been doing absolutely no software modifications lately (I'm on Lineage). I also cannot mount data in "Mount" section, backing it up is also not an option.
I havent't tried yet to restore my full back up I've made around a month ago, is there any way I can revive the data partition?
Ok, since my backup is missing I've decided to reinstall the rom. But I can't format the Data partition at all . TWRP just goes "Failed to mount '/data' (Invalid argument), Unable to wipe /data). What should I do? Is the phone internal memory dead or what?
OK SOLVED. I entered erecovery and formatted my data. Now I reinstalled Lineage and everything works again... apart from photos of my doggy lost . Damn, I have completely no idea what caused that Data partition failure

Messed my LG G2 big time

Hi everyone,
I installed AospExtended 8.1 ROM ten days ago and I rooted my device using Magisk afterwards. Everything was working perfectly for 10 days and I was completely satisfied with the ROM but yesterday my device rebooted itself and I ve got nothing but the black screen glowing after the LG logo. After 10-15 attempts I turned on my device successfully but it rebooted itself after few minutes again. I tried to perform clean installation of the ROM again using the TWRP recovery but every time I failed to wipe and got messages like failed to mount storage, system, data, failed to mount cache etc... Any help would be appreciated:angel:.

I can't tick any of the boxes in the mount option, it says my internal storage is O MB. I tried the option which is suggested by lot of people, to change file system of data from ext4 to ext2,3... in the wipe option but I failed every time and got E:unable to mount storage message.

Thats pretty bad.i will ask my friends if they have any solution.
I had no luck with fixing the problem i wrote about earlier. Would replacing the motherboard solve anything?
Emmc dead I guess
sometimes my phone shows the capacity of my internal storage and I perform the installation of the custom rom and gapps. After rebooting the phone it goes into the twrp and shows that capacity is 0 Mb again...

I need some help to revive an almost dead OG Grand Prime G530-H variant

I already have a much better Xiaomi Redmi 7A phone, but that's besides the point. I really want to make this phone work again.
The problem:
I have a Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime (G530-H). It charges properly, is in pristine condition (visually), and feel quite new. My dad bought it sometime in 2015 and it survived up till now, but at the end of 2019, it would occasionally experience some unwanted reboots. Now, this phone will not stay stable for anymore than a minute at best. One minute of usage an bam! It reboots itself. Everything else seems to be working the camera and video works, file explorer works, messages, etc. works but whenever I take a picture or do anything that involves a read/write operation, the phone starts to reboot. I tried going into the recovery, (it does not reboot while inside the recovery menu), and resetting the phone, only to get this error message:
# MANUAL MODE #
-- Appling Multi-CSC. . .
Applied the CSC-code : PAK
did not match sized '/system/csc/common/system/csc/others.xml' (No such file or directory)
-- Wiping data. . .
Formatting data. . .
E: format_volume: make_ext64fs failed on /dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/userdata
Formatting /cache. . .
E: format_volume: make_ext64fs failed on /dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/cache
Data wipe complete.
It says "Data wipe complete" at the end, but nothing actually gets erased and the reboot upon read-write problem persists. I've heard that this usually points to faulty eMMC memory and that might be the case since the phone is five years old, but as I said, it does not shut off inside the recovery mode, so maybe it is fixable... any thoughts?
