Any word on rom development yet?

Since I used 3TB last month with cricket they are kicking me off for a while grabbing this phone in a few hours from metro. I'll have a dump tonight and will start working on things this weekend.
Edit update
Got a dump having issues with the kernel but once thats fixed I'll have a stock ROM out and will work on everything else.

Hey guys I'm starting my ROM thread so far they are just dumps uploaded but when I figure my kernel issue then it will become a ROM. If you have that skill make the ROM and I'd like to collaborate with you. So far with my tweaks but making a full backup after I installed root then I started to delete junk even legs launchers installed both pixel launcher and the now launcher then copied the pixel launcher to the system/priv_app re booted into TWRP cleared cache and everything then restarted and removed now since it worked. She's so smooth omg.

Let me know if you need any assistance.
I have a question though.
I unlocked the bootloader, I rooted it, but now I am having issues with the GPS. None of the GPS apps work (maps, tinder, etc.) It keeps saying to enable the location settings, which I have done. This happened a few days ago but the phone been rooted for a week. I am not entirely sure if they happened at the same time or not. Unfortunately the chimeratool will not ket me restore the original firmware (this device isnt supported) , but one of the LG firmware flashers may work. If that is the issue anyway, I won't reflash the firmware if there is a faster fix.

You could try disabling gps through adb and then enabling it, not too sure the commands but that might help.

Service?
Dose mess have stock 7.0? That sounds harsh but I'm just needing to know what type of build and could it use bug fixes or do a team need to do mess a good job or with custom boot and all..just asking. Flashbach from cm6.Not sounding greedy or a bit like a bully but cash??

Solved
Solution: Disable high accuracy GPS. Leave (device only) on. GPS+network were not meshing well.

And the other tips can be find a home team. Its obviously simple just different.Examples are like building a house. The electric work is hidden along with the plumbing but the ppl that live the life there never see the work it took to get it running. The phone or device its self tells the ones that want to know. But its not the normal so all the bricks dont get counted. My point being is trying is lame when its step by step copy and paste.Just being real when will the job get seen. But honestly im out of reasons to keep the phone.Not.Ppl will miss it everyday while the apps fall out the sky.Give up for what.Push and im still learning the no pc one click.Just my opinion or did ppl stop dreaming all along. This is the goal.Js.Now break that code in the nice way we. Well some of us no how..7.1.03

Frp bypass easy.thats googles key to the locked door..um root permits not needed or do u still have to flash them. Now ck clockwork is still at work.draw apps could be better.but id like to recommend an idea to double check.

[Q] Help with Safestrap/Cyanogenmod on Razr m

Hello,
I'm a little late to the Razr M game, but I just got a device off ebay since it's only about a year old and in great shape and quite cheap :good:
In any case, I've so far managed to unlock the radio for Tmobile in the US (GSM), and root it the device. Unfortunately, I didn't know when i bought it about the inability to unlock the bootloader with OTA from May and beyond, which mine is according to fastboot. I believe I came across the actual number being 98.18.78 somewhere.
So I've been doing a lot of reading, got SafeStrap running, made a stock backup, and am testing on slot1. However, I can't seem to get any CM ROM's running! Most of them 'boot' but then all I get is a blank screen, though I can connect with adb and therefore confirm that it does actually run some CM build.
I'm first of all somewhat confused on what ROM i should be using. I've found several links that should seem like they work, but none have succeeded (all have that halfway functionality that only works in ADB):
http://d-h.st/FgU
http://skrilax.droid-developers.org/cm10.1nightly/razrqcom/index.php?device=xt907
http://goo.im/devs/Hashcode/scorpion_mini/cm10.1
http://skrilax.droid-developers.org/cm10.2nightly/razrqcom/index.php?device=xt907
I found these in various threads on XDA and droidrazr.com. I basically read the entire 55 pages of http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2012093 and since the link in the first page is dead I tried all the links that came up on the thread, which got a couple of the links in my list above.
Also, I did run across the tip that I had to mount system in SafeStrap to get these working, no success. And what's this thing about having to wipe dalvik and system and cache two or three times??
Basically I'd like the proper, up to date link that should be working, along answer to above question and and other tips!
Thanks!!! I love the phone otherwise it's great
UPDATE:
I did manage to get an CyanogenMod spinning forever startup screen with an ancient rom described here http://www.droidviews.com/install-first-aosp-based-unofficial-cm10-rom-on-motorola-droid-razr-m-xt907/ which appears to have come again from the thread mentioned above. The link is now gone but I have the .zip that I must have snagged right before it disappeared!

---------- Post added at 07:51 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:47 PM ----------
There are others but they are not current.
Well, none of the custom ROMs out now will work with SS. Their are some stock based ROMs, one of which was posted by Avi, that will work with SS. There are some older ROMs that were designed for SS and they were built prior to April (when our bootloader was unlocked). You'll have to dig back a couple of page to find them. I know there was SS compatible CM10 in that link you posted, but I don't think the link is active for it anymore. If you decide to run an older SS compatible ROM on your newer system version, you're going to run into kernel issues. Things like the gallery not working and WiFi signal being weak. Your best bet right now is to load a stock ROM on slot 1 and start tweaking that with XPosed and enabling Init.d so you can get some performance tweaks going.
Thanks for the response, I'll check those out. Glad to find some up to date roms haha

This is something I didn't realize/know before, good to know! That would explain some of the problems. May I ask how you know they don't use stock kernels? Just experience in the development process or is there a way to check?

Thanks for the info, I'll have to do some research if aviwdoowks's pointers dont work out! Second day fiddling with this stuff on android so I don't know what XPosed is/what Init.d does (although I think Ubuntu has that file too...)
Also, I tried the DeadCalm SS rom and i get an
E:signature verification failed
error

Word would get round if they did, but What vzw wants moto to do to a phone is not what cwm wants to do. 4 cyl hi mpg VS racing v8
Same problem with the xt907-98.30.1-deodexed rom:
E: signature verification failed
Not sure what's wrong with BOTH of these?
Sorry, didn't do enough testing. Disabled zip verification and it wrote, just have to see its working!

DL my SS deodexed & use it as a templet as to what items need to be taken out.
Root Explorer is all you need.
Thanks for the help and links, I have the deodexed SS version from your link working. I see that it is not a debloated version; is the odexed version debloated?
Also I was originally hoping for a ROM with functionality like Cyanogenmod, but I guess the situation is too specific for that too happen. I might be interested in getting to ROM making/customizing at some point, I did some preliminary reading, I should be able to edit the deoxed SS ROM and then 'stitch it up again' in simplest terms, and it will still work on my device, correct? I feel like editing a ROM would be a great way to learn more about Android/Linux/bootloaders etc before I go to college.

The odexed is DST which means a debloated to the same specs at the Telstra build. The SD swap works on both.

What is the telstra build? Is that the name of the stock motorola ROM that came with the device? Also I'm guessing SD swap is just a way have the phone treat the SD as internal memory?
Also, any idea if it would be possible or how difficult it would be to modify the ROM you linked me to to turn it into a Cyanogenmod port?
Thanks for all the help

Telstra is the Australian firmware, I believe. If you want to port CM, you need to pull from their source. The DST ROM is a stock Moto ROM that's built by the Moto software team. You can't really take that and change it into a CM port, but you can make your own build environment and start building CM.

Telstra is a carrier for the xt905. There are builds posted in our dev section. Any telstra rom is encrypted & if flashed w/ Rsd or Fastboot will brick an xt907.
Very difficult. Edit impossible.

Alright thanks for the info. I was just doing some reading on the Linux Kernel. Since I am stuck with the stock motorola kernel, but this implements all the things I need to make the upper level, platform independent sys calls and other api's, there shouldn't be a need to build a special kernel for a cyanogenmod port, correct? If i port the higher level things everything that is implemented in cyanogenmod should work... am I getting this right? I'm trying to figure out what the OS kernel requirements are.

We have rom support!!!!

I have the s7 active that I got a few, days ago. I seen that this thread doesn't have any support for roms well I'm here to tell you that all of this changes now! The g930A roms work the edge varient roms work however I've so far only tested with echo rom and used the s7 edge setup since the build prop is 3600 mah. Editing the build prop to be that of the active caused of to vibrate alot and thus I'm returning it to stock. All other features minus the active button work. Power button works home button works and the double tap for camera, when it wants to lol. Also volumes. Back and menu do not work. I'm not a dev but I got a massive set and I wanted this tested since I got the g935F and miss the custom stuff. SU stays in tact as well. Ill try to get picks of my homework for you guys lol.
You don't have to do this but it'd be much appreciated since I lost my job a month ago due to family deaths. But donations are greatly welcomed. I've been inactive on here for awhile now but I felt its time to show some love to the community.
Lastly: ill get anyone whos interested a tutorial that I used to get everything set up. All things do work minus the stuff I. Mentioned and I'm no dev by any means.
I would potentially be interested in this
Its a fairly simple process. Could anyone be it a dev or someone with them page making skills for roms and the like jimmy up instructions if I give them the details? Idk anything bout forums other than download and reply to things lol
To those interested.
#1 Root with the original method
#2 flashfire and rom of your choice I use echo rom first boot takes 15-20 mins.
#3 flash rom as if you would if you used twrp. wipe etc etc.
Once the phone boots it'll say secboot invalid or some error so boot to download mode.
#4 flash the unlockboot.tar used to get SU access for root.
#5 profit!
#6 optional donation would be welcomed
Hey I am new a new member to xda. I have been rooting phones for awhile. I don't have much experience but went to itt tech for software development before they shutdown . I would really be interested in helping u . Can u send me the full instructions to port the g930a roms. And thanks for urban work so far.
your all good captain. i actually didnt port any rom over. just flashed as it was was and once flashed in flashfire, i used odin the flash the boot image/kernel and from there its touch and go. 1st boot takes about 10-20 mins so i suggest a fan with cool air on it for the duration. sorry for the lack of reply, been busy looking for a new job and such.

donations are not needed but they do help me in staying motivated.
to add more captain, im not too computer savvy but im more android savvy and 95% of all i do i do via the phone itself with root explorer. most versatile apk ive ever had the privilege of using. i wish i knew how to use the kitchen because id make roms left n right if i had a way too. once i get the phone back, ill look into getting a dump or some kinda whatever for ya if need be. i really wanna flash twrp on it via the flash fire since the g935a ROM took. my theory for that is, if it took the ROM why not the twrp? same internal minus the battery and water proofing just under a different name. i also tried taking the build prop off the stock active ROM and putting it on the echo rom but that causes them fruity boot loops hahaha. still feel twrp would work tho.
Below is a gofundme I just made for this new project of mine. Which is galaxy related. If you have time check it out and please share, donate if able or both.

so once you have the echo rom from the standard s7 booting on the phone, do all the buttons work ok ? active button ? front buttons ?
does everything else work ok ? memory card, bluetooth, wifi, camera etc ? ..
Is anyone still trying this out? Flashing s7 or s7 edge roms through flashfire? Are the buttons broken? Anything else?

you just replied to a VERY old post, which i put up back in April ! ..
since then i found out WHY you got all the errors , and HOW to fix them all, so all the buttons work as they should, and so you dont get those horrible blue error screens...
made my own mod, and released it properly, and then ironed out nearly all the problems from first release....
and am working on a new release to keep all the mods, but keep the original unlaggy kernel

For your query reagarding LineageOS, the best way to find out is to visit their portal and check the supported device list.
Regarding rooting, to simplify understanding as to why it is difficult for some devices:
Vehicle = Mobile Device
Person = Kernel/Driver
Vehicle Key = Bootloader
Mechanic = Engineering Kernel (Substitute)
Passenger = User
Any "Vehicle" can be driven by any "Person" as long as he has the "Vehicle Key" and the person knows how to drive (and has a driver's license).
Using this logic in the case of Galaxy S7 Active:
We could not obtain/borrow the "Vehicle Key" and the "Person" who knows how to drive the "Vehicle". The closest we've ever come to was having found a "Mechanic" who can hotwire the vehicle and attempt to start and drive it--but NOT efficiently or reliably; no warranty or certification at all. As the "Passenger", you take the risks associated with this attempt.
Cheers!
If senior member would help me gain active, working root, and debloater installed, I'd gladly donate to PP or GFM, I've got both on my phone. Ok, I see a SR Member has gotten root and all buttons working properly. Also see asking for donations. Lineage OS Rules

For anyone wavering on upgrading to Lineage or remaining on stock, JUST DO IT. I cussed at and threw this POS Z4 for over a year, hating it and Sony for what a failure it was. My first flagship and it was a POS.
Well in walks LineageOS and suddenly this phone out performs stock tenfold. What I'm most amazed at is the sound. I paired the phone with a Sony SBH80 bt headset(the bass is 10 htz on this one) and was never pleased. It didn't sound as full or loud as my 10 year old Nokia. I guess Sony does put out the best hardware, you just have to get rid of their software in order to appreciate what you've paid for. So go ahead and take the leap - you won't look back.
If the sound is as good as you say, then they must have updated the sound drivers. Last time I had it installed, I went back to stock despite its impressive speed and user experience. When used directly with my Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 80 Ohm, which is a pretty heavy headset which requires alot of power to get enough volume, the volume was too low and sounded much like how I imagine cardboard sounds like with the same Viper4Android-preset as in stock. It was also impossible for me to tweak the settings until it sounded as good. For me, this little, but yet so big issue, was enough to return to stock. But from your experience, maybe its worth a new try. Luckily, I got alot of free time now that I have summer vacation!
Lineage volume is way better than stock even in call volume. Further now it also support otg. I can now rw my 500gb ntfs drive without any additional utility like stickmount (unlike stock).
Dear try it, you won't regret.

hello.
i use this tutorial to flash lineage on my e6553
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z4/general/guide-safe-bootloader-unlock-restore-t3386915
make sure you use all the steps and if you brick your phone, dont tell me i have to fix it.
google anything you don't understand.
good luck.
p.s. i flash lineage a month ago, i have no regrets.
need help
bro i have installed a rom bot i cant login my google account its struck on checking info and then google services has stopped comes
You need to ask in the thread for your ROM & phone. This thread was a comment on how much better lineage is on sony than Sony is on Sony. Not how to do it. That has already been published.

I'm interested in installing Lineage OS, but I'm not convinced yet
The last time I checked there were some missing/broken features with Lineage OS. Is everything working properly now? At least same functionality as stock ROM? (not talking about some Sony specific stuff like linking PS4 controllers and stuff)
Then don't install it, and you won't know what you're missing.

Very helpful bro, very helpful... I had the impression that you would care to elaborate, since you started a whole new topic to convince people. But nevermind, will plow through the 39 pages of the Lineage OS topic.

well, you know what lineageOS usually offers,
write what you need and folks can decline or confirm if it's on board

I've read the last ten pages of the Lineage topic, and some things seem to be a bit unstable unfortunately. With one nightly it works, with the next it is broken, like the 3.5mm jack working or not working, audio recording not working while filming, miracast functionality not working... I use those things now and then, so it would be nice if it works when I need it. Can't be certain of that, it seems.
I'm a big fan of Lineage/CyanogenMod, was my daily driver on all my HTC's back in the days. But at the moment I'm staying at stock with Magisk, offers everything I need right now.
Hopefully those issues will be fixed soon, I like to try Lineage on my Z3+ one day
You can do a Nandroid Backup of what you've got. Install lineage and see if you like it, and if not restore your old backup all within an hour. What's the issue?

Damn, you're right on the money, I was about to return my Z3+ because of the heating problem and lags(even on 7.1.1). Last resort installing the LINEAGE OS, bam...feels like my Pixel phone but waterproof, got this phone because of the COPPER color, looks cool and cost me only a dime. Now, loving it...installed MAGISK and booyeah, ANDROID PAY works, even the newly update from google:highfive:
Hows the camera without drm keys and what about the fm tunner. If camera is ok and the Fm radio works ill prolly flash it.

New be looking for help

Hi guys. I got a galaxy s5 sm-g900t with tmoblie. And basically I think I'm looking for a rom. Browsing around I'm not sure which one to get plus the last time I flashed a rom there was way less info lol. I'll have to freshen up on how to root.
And then there this linage thing. I'm so lost.
What I'm looking for is basically a bare bones that has all the bloat gone and system apps that aren't used. I'd like a dark mode but if I remember correctly that's a package I add?
But ya I'm running umm 6.0.1 and it's suddenly gotten slow and buggy and I haven't done anything so any help is apprieated. Thanks.

Haven't actually found a rom. I was thinking the linage os. 16.x but seems like a high chance of me screwing it up.
Guess I'm basically looking for a bloat free stock rom that's got a speed boost. I've looked bc it seems like that would of been done but I didn't find one? Probably searching wrong.
Atm the biggest issues I'm having is maps, fb lite, camera, Gmail get very slow and none responsive to the point the phone reboots. Mind you I have tried rooting or flashing anything yet. It's still stock.

Don't Worry , you are searching for the wrong thing ,
I have tried so many ROMs one of them is fast and stable,
Search resurrection remix --> Website --> Download -->pie --> klte --> Find The Latest Version ,Go To The Bottom , Now download the one before the last one , that is 400mb , that is our ROM we need to download .
For custom recovery :twrp , root : magisk
Flash twrp tar image in Odin , choose the ap tap , don't touch anything else , or find a tutorial on YouTube on how to flash twrp
That is it ,don't forget to like my post

Make sure you make full backups before flashing custom ROM in twrp , that if anything goes wrong , you can always revert by restoring to your old backup.

MOST IMPORTANTLY IS TO DOWNLOAD GOOGLE APPS (GAPPS) : visit opengapps.org and choose arm and 9(pie) and nano or pico , pico has less gapps and nano have more gapps that are not available in play store .
So you need to flash it in twrp !

just got this device

Hi I was just given this tablet. It's a galaxy tab 2 10.1. so it's model number is gt-p5113. The android version is 4.2.2 build number jdq29.p5113ueucmk3
It was hardly ever used by the previous owner. When I charged it up and booted it up it was very very laggy. Of couse I did a factory reset fist thing. I went through and disabled all the useless apps on it. And it seems to be better.
I would.like to know if this tablet can be unlocked and install a clean version of Android on it. AOSP is what I would like to do with this. So is that possible? I have been using nexus and pixel for so long it's hard to remember all the stuff involved with doing all this. I would.like to get a newer version of Android on it. It doesn't have to be android 10 just a stable beer version. Is odin still the way to go with samsung? I do have android debug software on my PC so my pc should be good to go just need to install samsung drivers.
The main purpose of this tab is going to be for vision chats. I am moving so I want to be able.to see my nephew.
I. Not a rookie at flashing and modding but it has been a long time so if someone can give me a good place to start and there experienced with this tablet I would greatly appreciate it. If I can't put AOSP on then I will.jist disable as.much as I can and install pixel.launcher and all that and go that route. Just let me know what you pros think I'm open to whatever you guys have to say

thank you for the suggestion. I was able to get 4.4.4 running completely aosp. Very nice and clean build. However I cant figure out root and I can't get anything higher than 4.4.4 going. It installs 6.0 but it won't boot. Most of the links in the galaxy tab form are not valid because this is so old. Is the file system different? How can i get 6 or 7 on this tablet? I can't even find stock files from Samsung to flash with Odin anymore. Do you have any valid linksorfilesfor this device? Or any advice on where to look? And again thank you for your help.

Thank you again I appreciate it. I did wipe everything I even tried to redownload 6.0. The only thing I can think of is I am trying to install from the external sd card. Maybe I should try to put it on the internal sd card. But 4.4.4 works fine from the external card so I don't know. and oddly 4.4.4 only works with the pico gapps all other gapps make it not boot weird right? I have never come across that before. I never really had much luck modding tablets. And its been a long time since I did anything other than pixel/nexus. I am definitely a more pure android fanboy. anyway thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.
edit: Ah I feel like an idiot. I was using an older version of twrp i found a newer version thank to you. 6.0 booted with no problems!!!!
