[DEV][ZS570KL][ZS570KLPRO] HikaRi Kernel 3.20.18 v1698 - Asus ZenFone 3 Deluxe ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries, &

Code:

*/[/B][/COLOR]
I started playing with the kernel sources & as expected, ASUS didn't disappoint in releasing a b0rked source.
Not so bad as Huawei, but still.
Changes:
1: multiple defines need to be corrected for header locations; the solution is not elegant but it works
2: DTB generation "fixed"; again, nothing elegant but works for now.
The versioning & definitions are inconsistent: v3 vs v1
I didn't manage to hack dtbtool to solve the issue, but need to let kernel build integrate the DTBs itself.
3: Integrated exfat (Credits @samsung)
4: disabled some debugging; results to be investigated
5: fully monolithic kernel
6: disabled (some) ASUS Logging
7: probably other stuff I don't remember
todo
- buildtime optimization
- ramdisk & init optimization
- include features (what?)
Boots - all features seem to be functional (BT, WiFi, GPS, Sound, 3D).
Let me know how it fares for you.
> kernel <
As I have very little free time on my hands (& as required by licensing), I'm sharing the sources.
Hope someone has more time & can pick up where I started.

Great thanks! Would love to know if the restrictions on fastcharging can be removed to be compatible with all Qualcomm qc3.0 chargers and not just ASUS?

Kernel not ready? Got the message of "bootrootsrc.img is trashed by the owner."

Trashed it by mistake when sorting out files in gdrive.

Thanks. I will download it.

You can do that yourself if you're rooted. Use the apps found on the playstore called System App Remover. The advantages of this app is that it comments on what is safe to remove and what isn't. The free version did such a good job on my Nexus devices that I bought the pro version just to support the developer.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jumobile.manager.systemapp
It can remove user apps also but that is less to your needs.
The best part is that it automatically backups what it deletes into a trash directory. This means if you accidentally remove something you shouldn't you can use the app to reinstall it. I used this feature on more than one occasion when an app would no long work (e.g. Gmail need a cloud print module).

That is good to know. Yes, I am rooted and have TWRP recovery.
I want to know what apps are safe to remove, and what aren't. With a tool that can tell me, that would be perfect. I don't have a samsung phone, so I have no use for sidesync, for instance.

Do I have init.d support?
Well, here is a way to test:
1. Download the file from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1612958
2. Extract the file, you will get a file named 00test. DO
NOT flash!
3. Paste it into /etc/init.d. If there is no init.d folder,
most probably you DO NOT have init.d support.
However, if you still wanna try, just create the folder
named "init.d"
4. Change the permissions of the init.d folder and
00test into rwxrwxrwx.
5. Reboot.
6. If you see a file named Test.log in /data, you have
init.d support. If not, you will have to run Uni-init,
Term-init or Zip-init.

And yes even if you have asked dev for permission, he will be always wanting that his mod to be shared.
So if you share other's work, you must always give link to their op and credits
I am not being rude, but still imagine as you have developed the mod and somebody else posts the mod without giving you proper credits.

I talking with Daniel101 and him not compiled from sources but it's a cooked rom, so I will try to compile from sources after cm repo is downloaded (i think tomorrow).
For the modem you can link the version and/or where I can found? Please link in pm or here the post for this aosp rom
The alarm when the phone is off I not tried, I can try now, give few minutes and reply here
NeedROM ppl found a problem with whatapp voice message, I added for now here.

I don't understand the problem for other ppl to use xda for development our roms.. I like this place, I shared all times my knowedge here and supported sometimes, btw Ill continue with my project and I leave all cooked roms and working with a compiled version, stay tuned (I think to collaborate if him want with loki, it's a good basework and him share the source code aswell).

[KERNEL] Modified O Boot Image Kernel for O as Daily Driver

After installing the O Preview, with no source code available for the kernel, I was wondering how I could run O as my daily driver with my apps like Sony Music, ES File Explorer (Root) etc, when Chainfire came with SR4 Beta.
Also required in my daily driver is my own custom kernel. Here is a kernel with boot.img from O along with ramdisk and module tweaks:
RACER_O
Kernel version name will show that of O stock boot image, but rest assured that some modifications have been done. Open the kernel zip to explore what is in.
Tweaks that are part of the kernel zip:
ramdisk: init.racer.rc, Bullhead power script, Ghost peper Interactive Gov Profile
default.prop: persist.bt.enableAptXHD=true, ro.opa.eligible.device=true added
Modules packaged for O: (I am testing these modules)
LED
SURROUND LOUDER
APTX - need libaptx.so and libaptxHD.so and may be one or two other files from AOSP BT Stack. As of now O-DP1 doesn't have those. Since the System UI shows the options, one can expect this feature to be activated in future O updates.
Apps packaged for O:
Pixel Launcher
Sony Ericsson Music
Reserved -1
Reserved for later
Reserved -2

RACER_O_20170324

Is there any way to port this over to the Nexus 6P? Having aptX sounds fantastic (no pun intended), and the ramdisk tweaks could help with the sluggish performance in O.
So this is stock or does it have performance enhancements ? Its not overclocked is it ?

No. Everything that goes into zImage of the kernel is stock. External modules and tunables are all that can be played with now.
Previous builds posted here have too much battery drain during active as well as idle, though they are still not show stoppers.
Here is a more stockish build with stock interactive gov and stock thermal conf tuning to see is there is any improvement on the battery front. Thermal appears to be work in progress. I have not seen any exposed parameter tunables such as /sys/module/msm_thermal/parameters/temp_threshold
RACER_O_20170325_Stock_I&T
Thanks for the info. I've been having a rough time with DP1. Can't root and having issues booting. Will try next release
Can't download. No mirrors found.

That's strange. I hope you are using latest Jolla recovery and Chainfire's Su...SR4. Root works like a charm for me. A pixel launcher and navbar animation are available, even before Charles comes up with his full mod, that is already in the making I think. Overall I have no reason to get back to nougat.

Flash the preview O and used SuperSU SR4. I used standard TWRP, I believe 3.0.1. Didn't have any issues when loading TWRP and Preview O work. Just when I tried flashing SR4 via TWRP the thing went into bootloop and would not boot. The only way to force boot the ROM was to flash the stock preview kernel back. Not sure what happened, but could not get root to work flashing the ZIP

I found a test folder with 24th march versions and main folder with 25th kernel versions. Which one should I install? What is RACER_O_20170325_GP.zip?

It has Ghost Pepper interactive governor profile and stock thermal. The other option has stock interactive governor and stock thermal. The test builds are with different thermal-engine-8992.conf options. If you extract the zip you can play around with init.racer.rc and other files to pack different flavours and create your own kernel zip.

Installed, but dont seem to be doing anything: lights.bullhead.so, mixer_paths.xml
Help required: How to make O work with f2fs data and cache, usual fstab.bullhead mod has no effect

The lights.bullhead.so file is for the RED LED when on low battery. The mixer_paths.xml contains the DualMonoV2 LOUD "surround sound".

I am searching for it. Navbar animation in pixel o has some major advances. You can edit it to add 2 more buttons. We have to wait till somebody ports it.

Unity Installer [TEMPLATE][Deprecated]

Unity is now deprecated. It's recommended to switch to MMT-Ex unless you absolutely need your mod to work in non-magisk environments
This is a developement thread for Unity (Un)Installer
Unity Installer allows the install/uninstall of a mod on any device regardless of root solution (or lack thereof) in use.
Compatibility:
Magisk 19+
Supersu
Rootless
Any other root solution (Like LOS Su)
See the Github Wiki for how to make your own unity module

You must have installed other modules, probably my deep_buffer Remover because this module does NOT touch your bluetooth settings. This module is simply a framework for other modules to utilize and edit audio policy and audio effect files on your system.

Don't know what to tell you man. All this mod does is copy certain configs to a magisk directory and then magisk symlink them to your system.
The only thing I can think is that you have a boot.img compatibility issue with magisk.
Good news guys. I finally found a fix for AM3D and Dolby Atmos to work 100% in enforcing on both MagiskSU/SuperSU, Magisk OR System install.
This will be available in the AudModLib v1.3 update I will be pushing soon. I'll obviously fix any more bugs or make any other additions in the meantime.

So this won't be an app, this will be as part of the script. It essentially makes a few things permissive and allows the appropriate things to be activated, those that effect AM3D and Atmos.
Hi. Thanks for the mod. If I download and install through magisk or even download through magisk I get installation error. Doesn't say why. I'm on Z5C Nougat and fully rooted. Thanks Kam
[UPDATED] Audio Modification Library

Go easy on the guy... He's obviously new and inexperienced and probably here to learn...
@mvarejao You should probably do a whole lot of reading before continuing.
Go to your device forums. You'll most likely find a lot of useful information there, among other things threads like this (where you'll find lots of resources and reading material): https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/how-to/xiaomi-redmi-note-3-sticky-roll-t3528728
