Compared with the redmi note 4,redmi note 4x specification not so much change. We know redmi note 4x equipped with Snapdragon 625 processor,Because the use of a new rear shell process makes the full body thickness increased by 0.1mm.It's worth mentioning that provide users with gold, black, gray, pink, green and Hatsune Miku package version with logo and the only NO.
Colorful Metals: fashion and personality, better hand-touching
Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X in the appearance of the above changes are not large. But the appearance is more beautiful, fashion and different. In addition to the classic platinum silver and champagne gold, before redmi Note 4 popular matte black , as well as the new cherry blossom and blue-green color to join the consumer to a more diversified choice, more able to experience the personality of consumers.
Redmi Note 4X positive design no change, in this case we got black version redmi ntoe 4x.If you look from the front, it is still difficult to distinguish between redmi Note 4 and Note 4X.At first glance is very beautiful.
Unfortunately, the phone did not use a positive fingerprint identification design, but as most of the same as Android phone fingerprints function on the back of the phone.
The phone body on the back of the design changes are relatively large, red rice Note 4X to give up the integration of metal body and switch to a three-stage body design.
In the fuselage in the box processing, Redmi Note 4X to cancel the double-sided metal trimming design and the use of the back shell in the box of integrated design, making the phone grip feel more comfortable.
Snapdragon 625 processor more practical
Redmi Note 4X on the biggest change is used the Snapdragon 625 processor. Snapdragon625 chip is the main push in the 2016 high-end chip, the use of Samsung 14nm FinFet advanced semiconductor technology, equipped with Octa Core Cortex-A53 processor, clocked at 2GHz. From last year has released a variety of Snapdragon 625 chip using the phone point of view, these products in the life and heating control has a good performance, so the word of mouth is also very good.
As the high-end Snapdragon series which is one of the most popular two precesores (653 and 625), although Snapdragon 625 performance is slightly weaker, but in power consumption and heat control is even better, this time redmi Note 4X choose this processor should also be the reason for this. So how is performance on note 4x ?
From Antutu benchmark note 4x score is 61646.Accroding to before test we can found that all of the phone with 625 processor score low to 6w,note 4x Antutu benchmark is better than others. It can be explained Xiaomi for this processor optimization is still good.
Xiaomi redmi Note 4X island navigation experiment also attracted a lot of people's attention before xiaomi launched. In this test the Redmi Note 4X in the continuous use of navigation function 14 hours and 26 minutes later, still remaining 18% of the electricity stunned a lot of people. In order to further understand the redmi Note 4X battery life, we had two hours of test power consumption when I got this device.
In the case of no SIM card, connect WiFi, screen brightness below 50%, I have carried out online ultra-clear video, online novel reading, games, music and watch live two operations of 20 minutes. Two hours after the end, Mobile phone power from 93% to 77%, a total consumption of 16%. According to this calculation, in such a strength for more than 12 hours of continuous use should not be a problem, it seems that the island of the test data is also very reliable.
However, because it did not join the fast charge of support, and the use of large 4100mAh battery,The Redmi Note 4X charging speed is not ideal. I spent two hours and 40 minutes before the power is filled. But the Redmi Note 4X power use a day no problem, the user will not affect the normal use of the night charge.
It is worth noting that the redmi note 4x heat dissipation done very well. We throughout the test process, the body did not appear fever situation. So, Snapdragon 625 for redmi note 4x reduces power consumption and heat, for mobile phone life needs of higher users, red rice Note 4X will be a good choice.
Camera
From the parameters point of view, the Redmi Note 4X in the camera did not make a promotion, and the use of Redmi Note4 the same 13 million pixel camera (Samsung or OV), with F2.0 aperture, equivalent focal length 3.5mm, Support PDAF phase focus function, the following we look at some Redmi Note 4X shooting proofs.
Today's outdoor haze, but from the above photo we can see that Redmi Note 4X's performance is still good. Although inherited the xiaomi white balance warm features, image 2 and Figure 3 of the white slightly reddish, but the overall perception is still very good.Due to lack of indoor light, resulting in indoor pictures will automatically pull up the ISO to ensure that the perception, macro shooting layering is good, the background is not too much blur
Conclusion
As an upgraded version of redmi note 4, the Redmi Note 4X continues the fine tradition of the Redmi Note series. But also in the battery capacity remains the same premise, the Redmi Note 4X equipped with a red rice Note 4 than the use of the Helio X20 more power Xiao Long 625 processor.
In the configuration, Redmi Note 4X is still "fever", it is currently the cheapest Snapdragon 625 smartphone on the market, the other brands phone comes with same processore more than $190.It makes this device have great market competitive strength.
Appearance, Redmi Note 4X provides five colors, in addition to the common champagne gold, platinum silver ash, but also joined the cherry blossom, scrub black and Hatsune Miku green for young users is very attractive Force.
On the whole, Redmi Note 4X's life and configuration are at the same level of the upper reaches of the price of Redmi Note 4X life and configuration are higher than the same price of the product, the $ 150 is still very attractive.
At present, the price from the official website of xiaomi these two 32GB version are about 150USD, but redmi note 4X seems to have more advantages. From my point of view, for people who like to play games, the pursuit of performance, the Redmi Note 4 may be better than the Redmi Note 4X. And for the focus on life, like watching TV users, Redmi Note 4X may be a better choice.

Another very interesting phone, I really like the black version. Already saw them on sale at geekbuying for $189.

I'm thinking about buying this phone; I'm wondering, does it get hot while using Internet or taking photos? what do you think should I go for this one (note 4X 3/32GB for about $174 ) or redmi note 4 mediatek (3/64GB for about $175)?
I've heard Mediatek gets hot or lags sometimes, I don't really play games too much, however I like to change ROMs every once in a while. So redmi 4 X20 or redmi 4x SD625?

This phone is such a big disappointment for me. I was waiting for release of Snapdragon version for buying it since it seems so promising after redmi note 3 and redmi note 4mtk. Redmi note 3 is powered by Snapdragon 650, equipped with the 16mp camera and 4000mah battery. As I can see redmi note 4x is quite a downgrade it uses a weaker Snapdragon 625 and 13 mp camera. Redmi note 3 has extremely good battery life and marginal improvement doesn't matter to much. Just like a weaker version of the car model, don't drive well but at least use less gass
It is not a a significant downgrade but when we realize that this is a one year newer phone it gets big enough to skip buying this version of redmi note.
For comparison first version of redmi note W 3g was equipped with 8 cores MTK 1,7ghz, 13mp camera, 3100mah battery, 2gb ram, 2 sim slots and separate SD slot and no fuss about bootloader unlocking. So this is not a huge improvement over 3 years old phone.

I'd say SD 625 hands down, you got external memory anyway. At geekbuying it dropped to $175 by the way.

how is the voice quality during calls and in video recording.

Already book, waiting devices arrive, anyone test rom for RN 4 SD with RN 4x, it is same or not, due to this device has same hardware "identic" like Mi3 and Mi4, only Freq Band Support it's different.
I hope it is same

After a lot of research I found these are the 10 differences between Redmi Note 4 and Redmi Note 4X:
1. Note 4 (MediaTek) has MediaTek Helio X20 (MT6797) CPU with Arm Mali-T880 780MHz GPU - Note 4X has Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 MSM8953 with Qualcomm Adreno 506 GPU
2. Note 4 offers 4 colors: Gold, Gray, Silver, Black - Note 4X offers 5 colors Black, Gold, Pink, Silver, Turquoise
3. Note 4 has all metal body - Note 4X has mix between metal and plastic (plastic are downside where micro USB is and upperside where 3.5mm connector and IR port are; i.e above and bellow antenna lines)
4. Note 4 has dual band Wi-Fi 802.11ac conectivity - Note 4X does NOT have dual band Wi-Fi 802.11ac conectivity
5. Note 4 has weight of 175 g - Note 4X has weight 165 g
6. Note 4 has screws on micro usb side and can easily be opened - Note 4X has no screws on micro USB side and I didn't find anywhere how to open it.
7. Note 4 has IR port in the middle of upper side - Note 4X has IR port on side of the upper side (this means Note 4 cover will not match with Note 4X)
8. Note 4 has compass - Note 4X has NO compass
9. Note 4 has Samsung S5K3L8 camera sensor - Note 4X has Sony IMX258 camera sensor
10. Note 4 does NOT support fast charging - Note 4X does support fast charging
Please correct me if I'm wrong

Fast charge?

Are you sure 4x has fast charge? If so which technology? e.g quick charge 2.0 or 3.0
I am confused because I did not read this anywhere, even mi.com does not raise this claim

No compass?!! What's that about?
Can anyone with the phone confirm this bad news?
[edit] Etotalk claims it has E-compass, but I never completely trust their write-ups. https://www.etotalk.com/p/xiaomi-redmi-note-4x-332gb-black_p15813.html
[edit 2] Lots of other reviews and spec pages are saying it has a compass (magnetic field sensor).
So it seems my main issue with this phone (and the whole Redmi Note 4 lineup) is that it doesn't have any kind of protected glass on the screen.

I just received it yesterday, it has the compass.

RM Note 4x international (+ LTE bd20) has an e-compass an NO fast-charging !

Chinese version, doesn't have fast charge as well...
It has compass.

just bought a global version rear camera is samsung on mine...

When traveling abroad I use offline navigation a lot, so compass is very important to me. Is it 100% sure that the 4x DOES HAVE a compass?

Hi, I've just got a Redmi Note 4X and it does have a compass

Xiaomi redmi note 4 global edition has a compas to. Please mention in the review that many redmi note 4 are effected with white pixels on the screen.

Download Xiaomi Redmi 4X Stock Wallpapers from here

Hi, I just bought the 4X but I can not add widgets on the lock screen.
I tried with Calendar Notify but nothing.
Does anyone know how to do?
Thank you

Redmi Note 2 Or Elephone P3000S

I will buy a phone and don't know if i should buy the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 or the Elephone P3000S
They charge me the same for both. So the price it's not relevant in this Question.
The camera is the most important point in my decision, keep that in mind
Wich one should i buy?
Okay so here's the merits from what I can see from both phones.
Elephone P3000S:
Bigger battery
Touch ID sensor
NFC
Gorilla glass
Gesture support
Redmi Note 2:
IR blaster
Bigger community (tech support)
Better camera optics
Made by more reputable company (better quality control)
Faster processor
In my opinion (trying tot to be biased) I think the Note 2 is the better option. A large community is a must when buying Chinese phones where the return policy is absolute bull plop. If something goes wrong with your Note 2 there's likely someone who can help thanks to it's large fanbase. Also the fingerprint sensor on the Elephone looks archaic, it's reminiscent of the fingerprint scanners on the old IBM laptops and if that's the case you'd likely be disappointed with it.
That't my opinion, watch some reviews and make up your own mind. Whatever you end up buying, don't regret it. But enjoy what you've bought as there'll always be a better phone.
Good luck!

Hi,
I bought Elephone P3000s an Redmi note 2, and in my opinion Redmi Note2 is a better choice: I agree with Nippernator.
Furthermore Elephone still has Android 4.4 and there's no development at the moment, even if the Company said the Phone will have Lollipop.
Bye
Elephone is garbage
Not even a fair comparison, the elephone p3000s is really outdated compared to the redmi note 2 and there is a huge difference in regards of CPU (cortex a53 vs a7 cores), camera and screen (720p vs 1080p and better screen quality on the Redmi Note 2). I ditched my Moto G3 for a Redmi Note 2 and it's a whole new experience.

[Discussion] Wait for Redmi 4 vs Buy Redmi 3s prime now

Hi everyone
I am looking to upgrade my secondary device and I can not decided between if I should order a Redmi 3s Prime now and it would be with me by mid November or should I wait for Redmi 4?
Now there are factors which can affect the decision and I am sure many of you might be in similar situation as well. I like to game a little on my device mostly FPS online like Nova or MC4. I do not play any other game and I plan to stick with these games as well. I can run these on 1gb and Sd410 with some frame drops.
REDMI 4
The redmi 4 was leaked around late August and Gsmarena tipped it to be with Snapdragon 625 and 1080 HD display. However it is NOT officially released yet.
Complete specifications can be looked here :
http://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_redmi_4-8263.php
if we talk about generally, the advantages of redmi 4 over 3s,
more support
rom development
better performance
moving to nougat before redmi 3s which might stay at marshmallow.
Different design with a curve which may help in grip as 3s is slippery
HD display 1080 vs 720
If we look at 430 vs 625, we see there is no comparision between the two. 625 is a clear winner in all aspects
These are strong points out of which only the snapdragon 625 attracts me more.
Why to go for 625 ?
Smaller size Soc 14nm vs 28nm on redmi 3s prime which translate to 30-35% more user friendly
Higher clock speed: 2ghz speed vs 1.4 so better gaming and performance
Big Little Technology : It utilises faster cores when gaming and slower cores while reading/emails/browsing to safe additional battery
Better modem : X9 vs X6
Now the only issue is WHEN it will be available as I am looking to get a device by Christmas.
Now the problems waiting for Redmi 4
Not announced at all and no clue when it may happen
After availability, it will take some time to be available on distributers and it will take time
be expensive as it is not available in Europe and initially new devices are expensive
May need to wait long
maybe 1080 eats more battery and thus Redmi 3s wins in better battery performance
Now what will you guys do in this situation ??
I want your opinion and REASONS why ?
I think the Redmi 4 has the Mediatek Helios chipset or is that just the Note?. If it has, it probably still has poor gps and power consumption as with all their past chipsets. The Qualcomm chipsets win hands down...

I actually posted it when redmi 4 wasn't announced. Now it's a clear choice. REDMI4 prime
I bought the new redmi 4, last week, in alegrecompra.com. I'm waiting to received it. you can also find it in http://www.gearbest.com/cell-phones/pp_563921.html?wid=21.
This is much better than redmi 3s .
I hope the cyanogemod is working as soon as posible in a room for this mobile phone
In my case, i prefer wait for redmi 4, but 3s is more popular in índia, and when xiaomi publish your kernel sources, 3s is gone receive much custom ROMs, and redmi 4 dont, because xiaomi is too slow to publish kernel sources, but redmi 4 is more beatiful too... If i have money to redmi 4 and 4 prime, i choose the 4 prime... I'm thinking to move from R4Prime, but i will wait for kernel sources and choose.
I use the Redmi 4 Prime for 4 Days now, and it's FANTASTIC, battery life is way better than Redmi 3S
Can't wait for the Redmi 4 section here at XDA and some developers to get their hands on
Is the design of the sim carrier any better on the 4 than it is on the 3?. The 3 has a poor design which means that you can only use one sim if you want to use a microsd card at the same time. I have an Elephone which has a dual sim and microsd carrier. This is the same size as the redmi 3 design but allows both sims and the microsd to be used simultaneously.

Is the Redmi Pro the best Xiaomi device atm?

Hi,
I am pretty new to the Xiaomi- and especially to the Mediathek-world. This is why I have this noob question :silly:
Is the Redmi Pro currently the top smartphone by Xiaomi, at least hardware-wise?
Of course, besides Mi5/S, which run the SD 820/821...
Or is e.g. the Note 4 the stronger device, or any other? As far as I know, the Redmi-line is more a budget-thing, right?
Thx for any info on this! :highfive:
Best
P
Redmi Pro is known as the Xiaomi Redmi's flagship and that means It is the strongest of the Redmi's even that it is Mediatek powered . mediatek disadvantage is that they does not release sources (which is needed for compiling custom roms and kernels) and the Snapdragon release its sources thats because snapdragon devices are the most wanted and that means bigger price but weaker phone. redmi pro's helio x20 or x25 is compared to snapdragon 810 and and its very close to sd 820. Redmi note 4 has the same chip (x20) but isnt better than redmi pro.Redmi note 4 PRO has a sd652 and that means it has more development for that device.
If you want a phone with a lot development buy redmi note 4 PRO --- if you want a stronger phone buy REDMI PRO.
PS: the best xiaomi for now is MI MIX (the bezelles device
Thank you very much! My times of ROM-hopping are over...my current S7 is not even rooted...so I guess the Redmi Pro will be my first try on the chinese devices (Huawei P9 would be interesting, too, but I am searching for a bigger phone)
I have checked the Mix, it looks gorgeous and I would love to get my hands on this, but the price is far from what I invest in smartphones normally...
So, next step is checking the int. Xiaomi-ROM for the Pro, how to install and what to expect...
The best xiaomi device now is mi5, mi mix, mi note 2.
S7 has much better camera. Redmi Pro is not considered as flagman.
Xiaomi has better models like Mi5.
Even so I would prefare Redmi Pro because of OLED display.
But now Im having trouble with flashing ROM as it doesn't has official global vertion. So you need to apply for unlock bootloader and wait. Some people wait more than 10 days.
It's a good phone but with some really annoying hang ups. ( performance in general is good to very good with occasional lag due to bad core switching, screen is nice although a tad dim for outdoor use, build quality is great)
First of all the camera is a complete waste of time and this appears to be a software issue as the sensor it's self is capable of taking decent photographs. But it's honestly one of the worst smart phone cameras I've used and I've used a lot.
If you've ever used a blackberry in 2010-2011 that's the sort of quality so expect only at higher resolutions.
Second of all Xiaomi appears to have abandoned further development for the device ( no news on 7.0)
Also its missing wireless n support which is just weird, doesn't bother me oh so much as I rarely transfer files over WiFi but still an odd omission.

He said the flagship for the xiaomi redmi series not xiaomi mi series

Everyone still using this as their daily driver?

I just busted the screen and looking for an alternative.
The Xiaomi Note Redmi 4X while only being 5.5inches and an IPS screen, has roughly the same spec and I can get it for around 150USD at the moment.
Any other recommendations as I think I want a phone I can manage more easily in public.
I'll still use the Honor Note 8 at home for streaming videos and such as the cracks aren't luckily on the viewable area.
Xiaomi Mi Max or Mi Max 2
For long battery life Lenovo P2
Redmi Note 4X is enough for daily use, been superb in battery life here, especially if you have rooted and unlocked bootloader. Check our XDA Redmi Note 4 Snapdragon section, very large community and many devs supports, so much ROM you can choose. So much supports you can rely on if you like customizing things.
But if you have a little more budget you can take Lenovo P2, same specs but better display (AMOLED), Gorilla Glass, Battery monster and support fast charging. It's very reliable phone for daily use I think
Cheers guys, 4X looks solid as a budget phone and the P2 looks great with the extra battery and better screen. Just need to figure out if those features are worth double the price.
Just bought the Redmi 4X MTK 4GB version...
Quite dissapointed compared to the Honor Note 8 even though they are roughly the same gen spec.
Performance: Redmi lags opening a variety of apps, Note 8 is still snappy since the day I bought it
Interface: MIUI has no multi-browser support, seems clunky and lacking in options, EMUI is comprehensive and feature rich
Bluetooth: Redmi disconnects on occasion, Note 8 has never
Battery: Redmi drains from 100% to 0% in 8-9hours!, Note 8 lasts 24hours+ - 4100mAh vs 4500mAh, no comparison
Heat: Redmi sitting at 42C, Note 8 at 32C while both are charging, Redmi feels hot even when screen is off, Note 8 always seems cool
I'm looking to get my Note 8 screen fixed and sell the 4X. Only thing I like is the black on black and smaller foot print. Everything, and I mean everything else is better on the Honor Note 8.
The Redmi Note 4X has a Snapdraon 625 - are you sure it is a Mediatek SoC (i.e. the Helio X20), as this should only be present in the Chinese Note 4?
I have owned both the Helio X20 Note 4, Redmi Note 4X SD625 and Redmi Note 4 Global SD625 and battery life has been above average (X20) to fantastic (SD625) on these devices.

Hardware
This device is powered by the well-known power-friendly Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 MSM8953 (Octa 2GHz Cortex A53 and Adreno 506 GPU). In this case, with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of ROM (a 4/64 variant is available too). This is basically the Redmi Note 4 sold officially in India, but with the addition of the 4G 800MHz (B20) band, essential for best 4G signal reception in coutries like mine where it is used.
Unboxing
Packaging comes with some accessories: 1x Micro-USB Cable, 1x 5V/2A USB Charger with EU plug, 1x Quick Start Guide, 1x Warranty Certificate (India-only), 1x SIM Card Tray Tool, and the Smartphone (of course). There isn't any case or screen protector included in the box.
Unlike the previous Redmi Note 3 Pro, this successor comes with a more premium chassis. The device feels solid, with the speaker finally positioned on the lower side near the USB port. Unfortunately though, Xiaomi choose to go with the Micro-USB port, something unexpected considering that they choose a Type-C port for the Mi Max 2 instead.
It is 15.10x7.58x0.83cm and weights 169g, impressive considering the 4000mAh built-in battery.
On the front side there is the 2.5D curved glass, something pretty common nowadays, and the upper front side of the device features a Front-Facing Camera, an Earpiece, and the Sensors hole that includes Light and Proximity Sensors. The Hall Sensor can't be noticed, but it is here. Also, an RGB Notification LED is here on the left, even though it isn't perfect since it doesn't support a complete palette of colors.
On the lower front side there is the Touch Keys area, with Multitasking, Home and Back touch buttons. All buttons are backlit, even if not too much.
On the back side there is the unibody metal chassis, with plastic bands for the top and the bottom.
The upper rear side of the device features the Camera Sensor (Sony IMX258) supported by a Dual-LED - Dual-Tone Flashlight, together with the Fingerprint Scanner.
On the lower rear side there is just the classic MI (Xiaomi) logo with nothing else since, as already mentioned before, the speaker has been moved on the bottom.
Device
Screen
There are some discussions online about the screen used on this device, some units are shipped with BOE panels, others with Tianma panels. Mine has a BOE panel and does seem to have the yellow tint someone reported. It is perfectly usable though, it will just look a bit warmer compared to another Redmi Note 4 with a Tianma screen.
Light Sensor supports ultra-smooth light changes, this is its maximum brightness.
Viewing Angles are excellent for an IPS screen, one of the best i have ever tested.
Camera
Thanks to the Sony IMX258 camera sensor, there are huge improvements compared to the predecessor. It is well-known that the number of megapixels doesn't matter too much (13MP vs 16MP), and here it is possible to have a confirm. Photos shot with the Redmi Note 4 are way better, with more realistic colors and less noise.
The Flashlight is pretty powerful, and the Dual-Tone config helps to not mess with colors even in low-light conditions.
As regards Video Recording, the camera is able to record 4K and Full-HD videos at maximum 30FPS (no 1080p60 is here), and the quality is decent, with stable frame-rate and an overall high amount of details.
Unfortunately the front-camera is pretty awful, this time the number of megapixels make the difference, since a 5MP camera sensor won't provide superb quality for selfies or video-chat.
Audio
Speaker is decent, produces a nice balanced sound, and it is loud enough. It lacks low frequencies just like the majority of all mid-range devices, but there isn't any distortion.
In-Call Quality is nearly perfect, and i say nearly because the earpiece seem to lack some low-frequencies, but the Dual Microphone config works great.
GPS
As i always say, Qualcomm devices are the best it comes it GPS Quality, and here i have the confirm. Excellent Indoors and Outdoors.
Indoors on the left, outdoors on the right.
Telephony, Mobile Network & WiFi
Being the Global Version, this Redmi Note 4 have no issues with European 4G Networks. Signal Reception is stable with pretty fast switching between 3G and 4G networks.
4G Network Speed is as good as expected, my mobile operator is not able to reach better speeds at home but, compared to other smartphones i reviewed, this is one of those who used the maximum upload bandwidth available here.
WiFi Reception is excellent, supporting 5.0GHz networks. Connected at 150MBps to my network, it is able to use all the bandwidth from my VDSL connection (70/20).
Battery Life
It is well known that, starting from the Redmi Note 3, this series has excellent battery life, able to reach almost three days for my usage. 4000mAh Battery + Snapdragon 625 = Perfect Combo for infinite battery runtime.
Here you can see some battery stats, reached almost 8h of screen-on time with a pretty heavy usage and unstable signal reception (since it isn't great here).
I won't show whether the battery capacity matches the declared value or not since it has been confirmed by everyone who already reviewed the device, and also there are no reason to not trust Xiaomi since they never lied to consumers about the hardware they use.
Something i don't like is the inability to get any Quick Charge compatibility, since Xiaomi, to reduce the cost, disabled this feature and also used hardware that would not be able to handle Quick Charge voltages. I hope they do not do the same for its successor.
Review (part 2)
Software
Just like all Xiaomi devices, the Redmi Note 4 comes with MIUI, the Xiaomi OS based on Android 7.0 Nougat (soon updated to 7.1), and we all know how the UI is and how well they take care of every single feature of the device.
Here is a good video that shows how to update the device to the latest MIUI 9 ROM and a first look of the new UI. In my opinion, i would have expected something more, there are no many new features compared to MIUI 8.
I am an Android Developer so i am not a fan of Custom UIs such as MIUI, eUI, etc... but MIUI is the only UI that i would use daily. There are many reasons for that: smoothness, feature-rich and updated. Memory Management (or LMK) struggles though to keep all apps running in background with only 3GB of RAM. I would recommend to get the 4GB variant instead, unless you are not an heavy user.
As regards the Fingerprint Scanner management, it is way better than the AOSP/Stock implementation since it gives the possibility to give a name to each finger, and also feels more polished.
Benchmarks
I have used 3DMark, AndroBench, Antutu Benchmark, Epic Citadel, GeekBench 3, GFXBench, PCMark (Work 2.0, Computer Vision, Storage & Work 1.0) and Vellamo to stress the device to the limit. I won’t test Games or Video Playback because there are already some related tests included in these Benchmark suites.
3DMark – The Adreno 506 isn't meant to be used with heavy apps, and as a result, OpenGL 3 tests struggles to get high scores.
AndroBench – Disappointing Write Performance with Great Read Performance, this is weird sincerely.
Antutu Benchmark – I won’t say a lot about this benchmark, this isn’t as reliable as others (well benchmarks are not reliable at all, imagine how bad this is). I’m providing this just for Antutu lovers.
Epic Citadel – Somehow this test seems to be well-optimized to run even at 60fps on this GPU.
GeekBench – The Cortex-A53 bottleneck is noticeable in single-core tests, but multi-core performance is rather acceptable.
CPU
Compute
GFXBench – As expected, 3D Performance varies based on the amount of load requested on the GPU, and the results vary from test to test.
PCMark – Even PCMark says the Storage test provides lower results than usual, i guess Xiaomi messed up something on the Android 7.0 Nougat release.
Work 2.0
Computer Vision
Storage
Work 1.0
Vellamo – Most tests are not able to beat the Snapdragon 800, something i would not have expected at all.
As you can notice, the Snapdragon 625 is not the best-performing CPU at all, but thanks to the optimized software, you won't even notice the lack of performance in daily tasks.
Conclusions
After having reviewed lots of Mediatek devices, i finally managed to get my hands on a proper Qualcomm device. This is definitely the best-buy for all those is search for outstanding battery life and solid performance.
OK, it may not have a great camera, neither the best screen quality, but for the price target, excluding LeEco devices that unfortunately have been abandoned due to company issues, it is impossible to find something better (correct me if i am wrong).
I can recommend it with no doubts, and consider getting the more powerful variant for the best experience.
Pros:
Stable Performance and smooth UI
Outstanding Battery Life
Decent Rear Camera
Blazing-Fast Fingerprint Scanner
Best Price/Quality Ratio
Cons:
Awful Front-Facing Camera
Lack of Performance for some apps
Missing Stereo Speakers
Screen Quality could have been better
