Nexus 6p factory image that of Pixel XL - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As shown in the title. I'm not sure if it's just my phone. I have a Nexus 6p but in the about phone section the model comes up Pixel XL. Is that supposed to happen? Sorry I'm not a developer and couldn't find a similar thread. The build number is showing as NMF26F.
I rooted my phone and installed Get Assistant (root) from the play store. Not sure if this app had anything to do with it. However, a couple of days ago I had to do a factory reset due to my phone bootlooping. That factory reset should have taken me back to the correct image, right?

Get Assistant edits your build.prop file. Therefore your phone 'thinks' it's a Pixel XL. That's needed to get google assistant working.

OK, thanks for the reply. I thought after the factory reset it would change that to the default.

Unfortunately it won't change back after a factory reset because there's no default backup of the build.prop file or any internal file actually. Any changes you make on a system level like that will stay after a reset. The get assistant app does have a backup and restore function for the build.prop though.

in order to get back to your original factory state, you need to flash a factory image via fastboot. you can find them here - https://developers.google.com/android/images

[Q] Nexus 4 shuts down at night for no apparent reason

OK, This is my problem. I own a nexus 4 which is rooted with the Wugs Nexus Root Toolkit. All the proper drivers are installed according to the toolkit. I updated the phone to 5.0.1 and re-rooted the phone successfully. Now with that said the phone works all day and when I go to sleep at night it shuts itself down and takes holding down the power button for a while before it will turn back on. 2 nights in a row now. I am not super tech savvy so if any one knows why this update has brought on this issue please clue me in. While searching for answers most people think factory data reset and that is no guarantee and seems to be a bit drastic. Google has to be aware of this issue because you can google the problem and it has a lot of entries about Nexus 4 shutting itself down after 5.0.1 update.

It's not a shutdown. It's a freeze. That's why you have to simulate a battery pull (hold power button longer) to restart it.
You could flash the factory images if you'd like. It's like a factory data reset, but it also re-installs the system itself. You are rooted, so you can backup your apps and data.

I have most everything backed up but what should I do? If Google isn't going to fix this should I factory reset or is there something else I should do.? My phone is rooted and there is a setting to "Factory Data Reset" on the Backup & Restore setting. Or should I do the reset through the WugFresh Nexus Toolkit? However I do it isn't the 5.0.1 update going to be installed if I do a Factory Data Reset? It won't go back to 4.4.4 will it?

Okay so
1. There's probably nothing to fix. Your system just developed a bug that can be fixed by reinstalling it. I don't have any problem. It's not universal.
2. By flashing the latest factory images, which are Android 5.0.1 ( https://dl.google.com/dl/android/aosp/occam-lrx22c-factory-86c04af6.tgz ) , you will basically delete all you data on the phone, which is factory resetting, while reinstalling the system at the same time. And no, you won't go back to 4.4.4.
A factory reset by itself does not reinstall the system. It simply deletes your data.
Here is a guide on how to flash the factory images:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/general/how-to-how-to-flash-factory-image-t2010312
And then you can use the toolkit again to root.
Same happens to my phones and flashing or restoring is not gonna help u in any way. Roll back to 4.4 and that solves the problem for me.

(XT1575) Moto X Style February Security Update Problem

Hi all
First I'd like to apologise if this thread already exists but so far I cannot find anything (please link me it if it does)(this is my first post as well)
I bought the phone a couple of weeks back. The phone had Android 6.0 marshmallow on it out of the box. The phone has been working perfectly up until today. This Morning i got a notification to say there was a new security update available. I downloaded the update (6mb) and installed it. I went off to work and when i took the phone out of my pocket it was rebooting. I waited for it to boot and after about 20 seconds of using the phone it became unresponsive, i.e. the screen froze, and a couple of seconds later the phone restarted. The phone rebooted constantly throughout the day when I tried to use it. When I got home I searched online for help but didn't find anything, although a factory reset can solve a lot of problems and so that's what I did. I setup the phone as a new phone but after about mins it froze and rebooted again. I have just turned the phone off and I am using a spare atm. I am considering a re flash of the software, however if any of you have had the same problem and have had an easy fix, please let me know. Any help is appreciated
Regards
TechGuy
It is odd that even after a factory reset it did this. Maybe try another factory reset and put your Google account on the phone but not any of the apps from Google restore. This will tell you if an app that you have installed is clashing with the new security patch or if the phones software is the culprit.

@TechGuy82 ... Go to the "General" thread (if you haven't already) the whole matter of installing the update is being thrashed out there.
Yeah check out the thread in general... Also just wanted to confirm that I'm having the exact same problem you are and have tried factory reset with the same results. I'm currently attempting a complete software flash with the CLARK_RETUS_6.0_MPH24.49-18_cid9_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip using the flash all bat

After the factory reset, the phone is rebooting before i can even set it up.
Same issue. I even rerooted and flashed a different rom and it will do it. going to try flashing back to stock before the update and see what happens.
I have the notice for this update - I am not rooted nor have I installed TWRP (I'd like to, eventually)
What I do need to know:
I don't use the phone like most do - services except for buying apps are not necessary. I have downloaded and paid for large data base nature and astronomy apps which a dumb phone won't run. I like speed on the phone so a program opens faster.
Given that - I have disabled 95% of the social type apps on the phone. I've disabled all the extras from Motorola. I don't use, want or need them. What will happen if I apply this update? I
1. Will it refuse to run if something is disabled?
2. Will it override disable and open whatever it thinks it needs?
3. Will it just install where it needs to?
4. Will it bugger the phone?
I just read through what's in Google services and I don't seem to need that. The only thing would be verification of a bought app from Play Store. I disabled Maps, Location, Hangouts, Photos -- There's better paid apps in Play Store and that's why I need to be sure that Play Services doesn't do the checks to see if you bought the app.
I like the feel of this phone, the performance and I love the camera. I just want to use it my way. If I could carry all my reference books with me, I'd use a feature phone. I like to take nature walks and birdwatch.

I have got answer for my own question.
It happens when before flashing in terminal type "fastboot oem fb_mode_set" , thats kind like bootloader force mode , when you reboot it always boots to fastboot. So after flashing i forgot to type "fastboot oem fb_mode_clear" to exit force mode.
Sorry for too many "reboot" words)
The only way I was able to resolve it was to do a full restore using this factory image. Leave it in fastboot and reflash. I tested before had wiping my sd card, removing my sd, wiping the internal, cache. Figured at that point easier just use a full stock image and see what happens.

Currently not storing any backup?

Hey,
In the settings, backup and reset, suddenly the feature to automatically backup is greyed out. I encountered this after I factory resetted and came back to an 11 day old backup. Logged in with Google account, check boxes are ticked, the feature to choose an account to backup though, is greyed out?
Factory reset didn't help, everything sync wise is on.
I'm on stock OOS 4.5.5, elementalX 1.04, Magisk root.
Should I flash something like Gapps file? I used this on a Galaxy S3 with AOSP ages ago.. But idk if it's safe to do in this situation.. Because factory reset isn't working the bug is within the stock Gapps I think.
Thanks!
Me to google cloud is not backup my devices op5
When i factory reset i not see blackup device on choice i see only old device(samsung device)
Somebody know how to blackup device to google cloud!

Had the same issue, strange to say but after installed Google drive on the pc, connected the op5 and choose to backup it as suggest from Google drive on pc made the trick. Now I can see my phone backup and the phone update it regularly. Hope this could help. In any case weird, I never had this issue with any of my previous android phones.

Galaxy s7 edge factory reset issue

Hello everyone
Today I factory reset my galaxy s7 edge and it did not turn up with android 6, instead I found it on android 8.0.0 with September 2019 security patch, I didn't update my phone after the reset, I did the factory reset from the settings menu "general management" factory data reset, I had to reset it cuz my storage was always full after I deleted everything from it, it was still full and when I check storage settings, device memory, I see "files" occupate 15 GB I tried diskusage app and cleaning cache apps and everything else but couldn't find them hidden files so I factory reset my device and it did go well since I ended up on android 8, what is the issue here ? Can someone please explain this to me please ? Thanks in advance

If ota update is enabled, he can download the update and store it and when you reset the device, he installed this update. This is the single most plausible explanation in this case.

Another thing that confuses me is why it chose September 2019 patch update and not another one?
is there anyway to go back to android 6 without flashing the phone? I mean just using the factory reset option and did anyone else get android 8 after factory reset his galaxy s7?

This was probably the most recent version that was stored on your device. Android 6 only custom roms of portals of other devices, because due to the bootloader block, you will not be able to install anything other than the stock version for your device.

Question (Solved!) My Phone(1) won't auto rotate. Help

Tried toggling the switch not helping. Reboot also didn't solve. Anyone have any idea how to fix?
Update:
Ok. After my 2nd factory reset, auto rotate is back working!
What changes? First time setting up phone(1) and after 1st factory reset; i went with restore from old phone.
2nd factory i decided tp setup new and not restoring any data or config from recent back-up from old phone.
My old phone is a Pixel 6 Pro btw if it matters. I noticed by restoring from old phone, the glyph switch on notification quick panel is not there, but by setting up anew without restoring, it is there.
Did you try to do factory reset? That's the last step before writting to support i think (in this case)
Manually make it go landscape i.e in YouTube will rotate it, and move back the phone to portrait will rotate back the display.
But from portrait to landscape won't auto rotate. I guess I really need to factory reset it. I'll update again the outcome

I'm from Malaysia. So VoLTE/5G restrictions were the issue.
Yeah I know I can root which I did or install Hentai OS ROM and relock bootloader but I'm too old to still manually flash update using PC every month. Haha
