asus is very bad at programming, zf2 is the most bugged phone I ever had, I prefer that they make a full stable mm than a bugged nougat.

The only good thing would be, maybe, the updated blobs.

the blobs are holding us back if they are update without DMAbuff then it would be really great

That's very strange, because it's the most stable that I ever had. Even beat my Galaxy Nexus.

I know there have been people that had problems with the phone, but isn't it the same with all the phones? There's no perfect manufacturer or phone, some will have problems, some won't.
I'm still satisfied with my Zenfone 2 and even if it had 1-2 problems with Marshmallow when it was released, now everything runs smooth and it's stable.

On LL I never had a problem, but with MM, about once per day, the phone screen freeze, audio plays, motor vibrate, but after ~10 seconds it completely freeze and I have to force reboot.

if you go in zentalk they say hell about zf2.
I have proximity bug since 1st mm and other minor bugs, other people had bad software bugs and hardware issues(screen flick, poor sim2 signal (me), poor sim slots detection problems (me) and more,
https://www.asus.com/zentalk/forum.php?mod=forumdisplay&fid=88

Overall, I am also satisfied with my ZenFone 2. It is more than a year old and did not have ANY problems at all. I never even had to factory reset it.
But, there are somethings I am not happy about.
This device deserves VoLTE update and ASUS either is deliberately not releasing it for marketing purpose of their newer phones or their developers are not doing a good job.
Android Nougat is also seriously deserved by the device.

im not sure about 5.1 but most probably we'll get it.however as for android M its mostly a no from me :/
I'm not even sure for 5.1, seems that samsung prefer to focus on newest phone and let their old premium flagship behind
I don't think we're inline for M, but we can easily flash a ported Note 5 ROM.
N9005 HLTE, Rom: Audax_L, Kernel: Audax, Recovery: TWRP
Yes but I'm talking about official update
I hope we do get an update because 5.0 is broken for me.
Battery life almost half what kitkat was and I have a Pebble smartwatch that doesn't stay connected because of the bluetooth issues introduced with 5.0
It's broken because you didn't do a clean installation, 5.0 is great, battery life is better than it ever was on Kitkat!

It was never great.
It isn't great because Lollipop isn't great anyway! You troll too much!
I have been doing some reading and i will try a clean install to try and improve battery. Anything worth a shot.
But 5.0 still introduced a bluetooth bug that prevents my pebble smartwatch staying paired - I believe 5.1 fixes this.
Take a look: HERE.
Only the lockscreen pointers are meaningful, others aren't. Battery life is indeed better in Lollipop than KitKat. Samsung has brought back Silent mode, and yes, it is the True Silent Mode, can't believe how and why Google fraked it up! Can't say about Multi tasking, I just need to three or four open apps, and they work more than fine. Can't comment on Apps' compatibility either, I only need a 50 of handful apps that's all. But yes, the Lock screen notifications are fraked up, the Lock screen management was indeed much better in KitKat. But overall that dark crap of KitKat was very tiresome for me. I love how Lollipop looks, how it works, and this is 5.0, so I am sure a fixed version of 5.0, i.e 5.1 will work much better.
5.1.1 probably. 6 sure not

It should be. This is not a magic, Samsung didn't make any special ROM for me, so if it works fine on my device, it should work fine on all the other N9005 units, as simple as that.

Not necessarily.
1. Mass production doesn't produce equal products, it produce similar products. All of them within a range of acceptance.
2. You're commenting in a global forum, people don't only own N9005s.
3. With the huge amount of people here, something's gonna fail. It's a matter of statistics.
4. A device that's so likely to fall, get hit or suffer different conditions is gonna react differently.
Anyway, I'm not commenting anymore here because it's completely off-topic.

Yes, agreed with all the points, but those were self implied. If a person doesn't know whether his/ her phone has taken a good amount of damage or not, then no comments. And I know that there are other versions of Note 3, that's why I specifically mentioned the model number!
I see battery related problems mostly and others with Lollipop ROMs, and I then ask whether it was a clean installation or not, and in 90% scenario, if not more, users say, no they took an OTA update! So there you go.

Thinking of buying this phone but...

I have checked this phone in two different stores in retail mode. Both phones presented a weird slowness when coming back from an app to the home screen. Not always but sometimes. It took 2-3 seconds to load the home screen and icons. It was very weird from an otherwise snappy phone. Have any of you experienced this?

I second this. Hardware is top notch including the display. All the bells and whistles included.
Can you buy from somewhere you can return if not happy.
Slow has never been associated with the Mate 9. Software design is their main issue nowadays. They change/remove things without any real reason. Getting better with every version.
Lag, Stutter, freezing. Definitely NOT an issue with this phone. Best phone out. Buy it.

I would go for the one plus 3t software updates are gonna be a pain on this mate 9 already regret the purchase. Software always over hardware.
possible demo mode?
i agree software is going to be a pain, but this phone is amazing out of the box.
a little tweaking and youd never have to worry about updates...just the dev of this phone is going to be really slow until huawei release binaries...

Yeah but who likes sticking to an old version of android? Sorry new updates = security patches and overall a better experience with new features. I could not see myself recommending this phone to anyone on xda, maybe other people who do not care about updates and development.

I've came from Nexus 6p, OP3T knowing there wouldn't be much development as those phones had. But I would say this phones software isn't that bad, or as heavy as Samesung or LG. Ive rooted and returned back to stock which I am using now on the US version. It's an amazing phone as is and the camera blows out the OP3T and screen size is a must. I hate little phones (personal preference I know) so yeah the Nexus and OP do have the development communities but for the price and how well the phone is made and the smoothness of which the processor handles the work load it is definitely a great phone.

It was probably running an early build. My Mate 9 has had 3 updates since I got it. No lag whatsoever.
Same here, no lag in any situation. Buttery smooth. Though I got rid of the stock launcher as soon as possible.
I get it sometimes. Coming out of an app and the screen will be blank for a couple of seconds (just the wallpaper) then the apps appear
Lag is normal on my 156 fw. No double tap to wake up. And other things. But one is fine battery.
No issues here. Smoothest phone I have ever had.

Thoughts about Mokee (MK81 aka android 8.1)

In the past I've used Mokee in my HTC Desire HD I was really happy
Thought of trying in my 1+1 ..well if you don't care about charging led when the phone is turned off and no percentage(just a simple animation) ..I didn't find any big issues
GPS seems to take a while longer to lock in the late builds
P.S. It's weird I don't see any official presence here
Wow man, you used Mokee on the DHD? I made that port Never knew they released 8.1 for the OPO, care to share a link?

hahahah for real? well I still have the DHD and has the mokee installed, although it's too slow for my taste that's why I went to 1+1. Lately it couldn't handle more than 5 apps, with 10-15 apps I couldn't answer a phone call hhahaha

It has some extra which are nice to have, only bad thing is that they share kernel specs as the "no charging light when phone is turned off" but the animation of that seems cooler(but no percentage either) - SafetyNET passes ..case you're wondering

Without any apps it works quite fast
P.S. Now about MK81 and our phones that kernel bug is bugging me ...charging it without a lit led seems disturbing(when it's turned off) ..it's an old CM bug. The animation they have is fun although not that smooth and has no percentage

Rom better than oos

Is there any rom out there better than stable in terms of performance and stability

Better? Probably not. Custom ROMs are about features. That said they can be just as 'Stable' and 'Perform' just as well in some, if not all, cases
A rom similar to stock would also do the job with no bugs
I gave up on custom ROMs once I got the op5. It feels like a phone with a stable custom ROM without the occasional bugs I always had with custom ROMs.
My second phone is an HTC one m8 with a custom ROM and despite picking a stable ROM it's having issues with installing new apps lately.
I've gotten tired of the custom ROM thing and just want a phone with a stock like OS that always works and I feel like I finally got that with stock oos
Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk
Yeah I've been flashing custom roms for almost ten years but I have no reason to do it on OP5.
Stock or open beta does the job for me.

There's no difference between stable and open beta in terms of stability or bugs. Different/other features, but no bugs. Stability is the same.

Nope. Nothing can beat oxygen os. My advice, stick to oxygen os.
My setup -
Open beta 19.
Magisk 17.1 - adaway - Viper4android - youtube vanced - Google sans font - Google camera.
OOS for the win.

for now , I agree.
But in few years, when OP will drop OP5 support, this thread will be helpful.
Just like the OP1, I was looking for a stable nougat rom, and from what I read, even lineage wan'snt ''that stable''. I went for the SlimRom 7.x, but even that, some apps crashs.
Anyway, for the OP5, got with stock OOS rom, its updated to the latest (or almost) stable android version.
I don't know about it being the most stable...
Bluetooth has been broken for me for five months and seems with the release of 5.1.5 there's been a huge increase in the number of users complaining of Bluetooth problems on the OnePlus forums.
Contacting OnePlus support has been useless so I'm going to start trying custom roms in the hopes I will get working Bluetooth again.
On a previous phone (I can't remember if it was the LG G4 or Galaxy S4), there was a noticeable camera quality drop when you moved to a custom rom, do OP5 custom roms experience this behavior or can I still expect the same photo quality?
I have actually downloaded all the files (hopefully) that I will need to root the phone in another year or 2 when support is dropped and it gets way behind in updates.

Sounds awesome. I'm on Pixel Experience right now, but will definitely try this.
Can support this as well. While the Bluetooth issue sure sounds like a bummer I'd really try to get OOS working.
I went to using custom roms shortly after getting the phone as well, since it was always the superior option with my previous phones, but stock is really just damn good, hands down.
With all the good the things about this phone, the software is definitely the best imo

I've never noticed any Bluetooth issues with mine in the year I've had it so far. It's stock, never even rooted it. Only ota updates and it's never been factory wiped yet. My wife and I actually went from having occassional bluetooth issues connecting to our cars to it being rock solid a while back, probably the same update. Bluetooth between cars and phones has always been a mess in my experience, I've always assumed the cars aren't following the BT standards properly so the device manufacturers have to play around trying to find the balance between which cars to get working and which might break.

I drive a 1984 car so my Bluetooth is only really used with my tile keychain so I can't lose my phone or keys and occasionally for music but I usually use the headphone jack plugged directly into my stereo for better sound quality.

For me the main reason to switch to LOS is the system profiles. I haven't found a similar simple solution to activate a hotspot when my OP5 connects to my Car Radio.
I guess you can do the same with Tasker, but it seems much easier to me to just use the system profiles in LOS.

Bought a 3T in 2019

Hey Guys
Just bought a 128GB 3T today.. picked it up for £180.. as new condition with charger, but no box...
really impressed with how fast and smooth it is.. and that we are getting P shortly even after 2 years..
Running OS 508, Camera is really fantastic for a 2 year old phone and can easily match an S7 or an S8.. Single speaker is pretty loud and clear, and headphone audio is stunning on a pair of AKGs., but still testing battery life and SoT
I came from a Nokia 7 Plus.. I changed due to Nokia failing to fix the Wifi non-connection issue since November.. Camera is not that great and making and receiving Phonecalls don't always connect (phone is often dead or "number does not exist" message)..which is a shame, because its great to see Nokia coming back from Microsoft.
My only gripe with my 3T is I find the in-call volume abit low.. although Ive read this is a common problem..
Anyway, very pleased with this great device...

Not everybody has an issue with the volume. I, for one, am happy with the way it is in my phone, so I've not needed to use the fix.

Still using my 3T as my daily driver (as I'm sure is the same for most of the folks still on this device forum section). I know a newer phone will be faster/smoother. You often don't realize how much faster a new phone will be, until you actually make that switch. But for now, the 3T does all I need or want it to.
To a large extent, we are hitting the point of diminishing returns for buying a new smartphone every year (or even 2 years or more). Folks are increasingly starting to skip upgrades, as the performance difference or new features don't justify the price (especially $1000 or more for a "flagship" iPhone, Samsung, etc.).
Just as important, still a decent sized community here for this device. Getting a little quiet. But still a lot of helpful members, ROM development, etc.
Welcome to the club!
Still rocking with my 3T as-well.
I realized that performance-wise, the 3T covers all my needs from a smartphone, so upgrading to a newer chipset is purely a waste of my money.
The only thing that will cause me to upgrade is the "outer shell" of the phone.
I am not a big fan of notches to say the least, so up until now, I held back from upgrading.
With the 7 coming out, i'll have to re-asses my stand

I can't stand those notches either! It drives me nuts that the manufacturers think that protruding a big notch onto the screen is preferable in order to make the bezel a little smaller. Or really the main reason all the manufacturers are doing this, is because Apple did it, and the other companies feel like they need to copy it. Same as removing the headphone jack. No consumers actually like this, it's only because Apple did it, and all the other companies follow like lemmings.
My wife bought me the 3T just over 2 years ago for £475.
I removed the plastic screen protector after the first year, second year I started playing about with custom ROMs. It's an amazing device, I plan on keeping it for as long as possible. No slow down, still does what I need and plays the games I play (which are not many) and your right the camera is pretty amazing. You should install the gcam port and the pictures become much better.

So far I'm getting 1 day standby out of it with some decent youtube and general use.
It doesn't look as though OnePlus are going to release an official Android 9 release (Boo!) Looks like custom ROMs then.
I might also but a One Plus 5. I don't like newer devices with a notch and no home button - am I stuck in the past?
