Really liking the j7 prime sm-G610M/DS - Samsung Galaxy J7 Guides, News, & Discussion

The 3 gb of ram really helps keeps apps from pulling juice from the battery as long as you dont have 300 apps installed.. im getting a full day of use off the battery.. i like the wifi calling and video calling and duel sim is cool.. its a overall a great phone. Sm-G610M/DS

I like it better if I can root it

Wifi Calling
I have a G610M and I don't see any way to activate wifi calling. How did you get this to work? What carrier are you using?

New to the Nexus 4 and I need some advice.

Guys I gave my gf a N4 for christmas and she is so disappointed. She switched from the HTC Amaze!
She says that phone is very slow. internet wise. It takes long time to load a youtube video or a search on the internet and sometimes it says no connection.
We are on a tmobile network which the N4 should support the 42 speed like my s3.
She says that it would be nice to have a end kill all on the tast like my 4.2 rom on my s3.
She is not rooted and im trying to convince her that by rooting it and have a custom rom may help her internet problems.
what can you guys recommend on doing to it? Did you had this issue before rooting it? We've done several hard resets and still do it. I know the first step is rooting it. but what rom and what mod should I flash?
maybe a build.prop data speed tweak etc etc.
This is driving me crazy too. The way she nags about it all the damn time.
Paranoid android!

My favorite combo is codefireX and Franco kernel. It has tons of graphical and functional customizations you can select, scores 2140+ on geekbench 2 and I get 18 hours of battery with 4-5 hours of screen time!

How is the data speed on it? Does it hang all the time? She is a noob so I dont think she will know how to manage a phone that can do all of these tweaks.
Well if you want simple performance and battery get the minico ROM. Super stable, very lightweight and fast. Has all gapps present in the ROM.
You might want to add custom APN settings or you need to enable lte dial *#*#4636#*#*
CrossfireX has a kill all button enabler, has a "hold back and kill current app" and tons more.
In At&t I get 13mb/s which is NOT on lte.

Been looking at that one and at minico. so far minico seems to be the one she likes as it boots the volume on sounds.
13mg/s for att 4g network its pretty fast. I think this phone was build for their 21mgs right?
I havent played with the n4 that much. but she has showed me how slow it is when it comes to browse the web or youtube videos.
with full bars and H on the side.
She is kinda on my nerves because she used to have an htc and she never had problems with it. And now I gave her this phone! lol
been reading on how to root this phone and blah blah...
also pimp my rom have way to tweak the data speed and the touch screen responsive.
have any one of you tested if pimp my rom works for you?
Well you could always sell the nexus for twice what you paid since they haven't been for sale since November 27th.
Did you get then phone from Google or T-Mobile? What speed test results do you get on H?

I'm on T-Mobile as well, and haven't had any problems with data speed. Have you tried switching out the SIM card?

Best rom for cricket on tmobile phone

I've been using stock t-mobile rom which isn't awful but i've had a few issues which are way super weird and prefer to get rid of most of the bloat ware and hopefully run at a more reasonable ram amount lol. I've used a few tmobile ones i forget which one's almost all didn't want to send mms's so that was a problem for me :-\ Also my weird problem with the t-mobile rom is I need my bluetooth on constantly or else the batter drains super duper quick like a percent a minute while charging and not also (which the phone heats up like mad and it's just so weird.)
So what rom should I get I want shealth preferably the old one I loved the goal achieved sound the trumpets one and new one doesn't have that for some reason :-\ or I could try a cm based one or pure android. I saw the note 5 one by darklord i'd love that one when the camera's working on it because that feature with screen off is awesome (not that i use the pen enough screen size is to small :-\ imho nice feature sometimes for jot down notes tho ) anyway what does everyone recommend guess a tmobile one is what i need and change the apn's manually and hope mms works lol.
Thanks for the recommendations if any and if you have tmobile note 3 running cricket i'd love to know what you're running and how you like it THANKS again

Selling My Mate 8

Hey all, I just wanted to let you all know that I'm selling my Mate 8. I recently purchased a Nexus 6P which I love so the Mate 8 must go. I will still try and make the Twisted Mate 8 and Stock roms for the Mate 8 but I'll just need a tester or two. I listed my phone on Swappa just now and hopefully it will find a good home.

I bought a Nexus 6P. We will never see any custom roms other than what's based on stock on the Mate 8. Plus the Nexus 6P has a better camera, stereo speakers and stock android which there are a ton of roms for. I love the Mate 8 but I'm selling it and looking to buy something like the P9 Max if it ever is released or something over 6 inches.

I can totally understand you.
Love the Mate 8 too, but hate the lack of custom ROMS.
Need the dual SIM for work, otherwise I would have decided on a Nexus 6p.
Don't forget the notification issues on mate 8. I have tried every ROM for AL10 and the all have this bug. I use the phone for work and need the app: root call sms manager to work with timer scheduler. It opens for call on my work sim card when at work, and disables then when work ends. But it is not working and always delayed because of this bug. My xperia Z5 dual works perfect with this app, but only have the half battery life of mate 8. And no!!
Is does not help to disable doze, use greenify or make the app a system app. It's really sad...

This is what makes me want to sell mine. I've been working on a fix for so long that I'm about to give up and sell it. Other than this the phone is wonderful.
@ajsmsg78 hopefully you continue sharing your knowledge and work with the community.

Yes seriously looking into switching to either 6p or S7 edge.
On the other hand still hoping that all these issues with the Mate 8 will be solved at some point.

I don't have the notification issues after enabling wifi and mobile data during sleep but yeah the notification issues shouldn't have even been there to begin with. I have mine on Swappa but the low ball deals people are offering me are ridiculous.
I have notification problems and nothing has worked, i wasted hours trying to get them to work.. I am going to wait till the galaxy note 6 to come out and give this phone to my parents because everyone one is low balling me on craigslist...
Notification are important to me because this is my work phone, I have to carry my note 4 when I'm on call, pretty annoying to always have two phones..
Well guys, the phone has been sold. I'll still be around helping out and doing the smaller stuff.

Enable wi-fi and data did decrease the delay, but it did not fix it. On my Z5 dual notification comes instantly as they should. I use my mate 8 only for gaming now until Huawei wake up.

I am using kingvip slim Rom and doesn't have notification issue with gmail. For whatsapp i put the apk in the system folder and it starts working. The mate 8 is the best phone i had (i owned a lot of them). Excellent battery life ( who need a phone with a dead battery at 4-5 PM), microsd card support are a must for me. I had before an LG g4 and was plagued with bad battery life and relative overheating so can't imagine an sd810 based device even if it is a nexus phone.

The 6P uses a revision 2 Snapdragon 810 chip and doesn't overheat. Mine stays as cool as my Mate 8 did. The Mate 8 is probably the best piece of hardware I've ever owned but one of the worst in software other than the early days of Samsung's TouchWiz. If the 6P had a 6 inch screen and slightly larger battery (it has a 3450mah battery) it would be the perfect phone. I still have my Mediapad X2 with a 5,000 mah battery. Talk about long lasting!
So, what noti issue are you guys talking? ? Did i miss something on my mate?

You apparently did not. Most others did, on older firmwares, without resorting to tricks :good:

It seems like the smart plan mode kills all notifications from apps, but choosing performance apps stays alive.
My Gmail and other apps behave normal again. [emoji2]

HD calling/advanced LTE setting??

Using Nova launcher i decided to create some shortcuts to system settings last night and was amazed at the settings i was coming across that for some reason i cant access if i were to just go into settings as normal! If i go to create a widget however and use nova activities then theres so much more available! Anyways, one of which was HD calling / Advanced LTE services which i presumed might be a battery drain and also might not be necessary so i turned it off! I have since made calls and have found no difference so iam just wondering what this is? What does it actually do ?
Also, I encourage anyone with nova to check out the various shortcuts you can choose within Nova activities as its pretty cool/handy!!
HD Calling, or VoLTE is when it uses a little 4G data to greatly enhance voice call quality. Both users need to have this feature to enable HD Calls.
This is an important feature for me, whatever phone I use. The quality is outstanding and I will never disable it whenever I can.

Ah ha, I generally turn 4G off (unless i need it) so more often then not iam using 2G which is probably why i noticed no difference when i turned it off as its probably no use having it on unless 4G is also on!! Am i right ha

Yes, you need to connect to 4G first.
And why do you have it off anyway?

Wi-FI-Locker and usage access

I'm not sure what the Wi-Fi locker is. So I took away it's usage access and Wi-Fi seems to work a lot better. Despite all my mods and work around i was still having issues with Wi-Fi sometimes. So I turned the usage access off and now Wi-Fi seems to be working better than it has. I think it's time i look at this apk and see what it does if possible.
Well decompiling it didn't help. All I know is it has to do with credentials but not Androids.
