Hi. So today sprint just released this for our phones. Is there anyway we can take advantage of this without updating?

Whatever you are trying to attach is not coming through.
They released it as an update last Friday I believe or that's when it started rolling out.

Sprint's towers sends out data at different frequencies. Sprint's newer phones can pick up all three of the LTE ones. If you are in an area where all three are broadcasting, your download speeds may increase, as the technology allows data to come in from all 3 frequencies at the same time. I may be a little off, but I think that's the general idea.
Also, its aggregation, not aggression.

My radios seem to work, but the battery life BLOWS. Thus I am hoping for some kind of fix. (maybe it's the radios, maybe it's something else...)

Ok sure. I know my old evo and my bro's epic both get 1-3 more mbps constantly on speedtests. And they get better reception. Not bar wise but -dbm wise.

the reason for the slow update is due to patent disagreements
as apple holds the only patent to make radios work via software update google has to talk to them first

Sprint will want it but they dont have the money, there is a group of private investors that have been lurking on the fringe. They have been designated the most likely outcome. Chinese and Russian firms have shown an interest but the Congress hurdles would be great.

QFE. I wonder why it tok this long though, I would've shot it down the moment they announced it.
i think apple should buy tmobile so they can give iphone users a true end to end experience. tmo could exclusively sell iphones, leave all the good android handsets to the other carriers. if all the big networks(ie att and vzw) saw a mass exodus of customers to go to a service provided by apple, prices would prolly go down across the board.

I may be able to get my hands on it for a bit, I'm pretty technically capable, is there anything I can do that would help us know more about this phone, Advance root, grab apks, etc? It's a loaner device so if it could brick it, I can't do it.

Someone in one of the other posts on this form tried changing all their info to that of the Priv and still couldnt download from the play store

Yikes! December is quite a while away. I hope that info is outdated... I was hoping John Legere would announce it during Uncarrier X. If it doesn't come out this month, I'll probably just buy it from BB with my bonus since it still gets VoLTE and Wifi calling. Band 12 isn't out where I'm at yet, but the Priv does support it, so the only thing I miss out on is the Jump insurance.

Idk I don't think it's out dated and considering att has an exclusive, I wouldn't be surprised by it being December.

Didn't they remove the word "exclusive" due to legal reasons?
Checked: It now says "first in the US on ATT", so it is no longer an exclusive (timed exclusive maybe)

I didn't hear that but that makes more sense than exclusive since you can buy it from B&B's website. But still the timed exclusive has to be worth it and I couldn't see AT&T paying for anything less than a month.

I'm hoping they never paid for exclusivity and just made that statement as a marketing stunt since no one else had announced plans to carry it. If that's the case, we could see one on T Mo pretty soon!

It's not the same device as the unlocked as Verizon has unleashed it's world of pain on the device. Also can't use HTC Dev.

Still not exactly the same. Verizon tends to neuter bands and very rarely can you flash a non vzw rom to a vzw branded phone. LTE/CDMA differences. Pain in the arse kind of thing

Is this something that can easily be done, or are there hoops to jump through? I have no familiarity with the process, so i a just asking?
I was wondering why I couldn't find the Verizon specific forum... There really should be one before someone doesn't read and ends up bricking their phone. Historically there have been carrier specific forums for other devices and it makes sense.
