nandroid backup for xt1607 stock rom? - Moto G4 Play Questions & Answers

Does anyone out there have a nandroid backup of the stock ROM for the xt1607 gsm version? Having issues with custom ROMs and away from home for quite some time so no computer unfortunately. Just looking to get back to stock and make it through my travels until I get home.

[Q] Apps2sd without custom flashed ROM

Sorry, if this sounds newbee, I'm kind of new to the whole cusotmizing phones. I just rooted my 2.1 HTC Eris phone to get SU access, which worked great with help from this site. I used the 1 click root app and i kept the stock OS ROM. Worked like a charm. Anyways I'm want to get the ability to download apps to my SD card, however I do not want to flash a custom ROM. I want to keep on using the stock HTC Sense UI, not to mention I don't want to redo my whole phone after a flash. Is this possible. I've searched the forum but every mention of A2SD seems to come with a custom ROM. Any assistance would be much appreciated.
Probably the easiest way to get apps to your sd card is to flash XTR Sense. It I sherry close to the stock rom but is optimized for stability and speed. It also has the easiest method to start apps2sd.
I would do a nand back of your phone. So you can always return to this pot if you don't like the new rom. Do both wipes data and dalvik and flash the xtr rom.
I think most people report being much more happy with this than the stock ui.
Thanks for the info, I was affraid of that. that xtrasense does look pretty good. I think i'll go that route.

Just in case the OP still hasn't taken the plunge, +1 what Jp50 said. Been using xtrSENSE for weeks and am loving it. I've never settled on one custom ROM for such a long time before I started using xtrSENSE.
Just make sure and read the first post or two thoroughly.

Once you get a custom rom, you can overclock! That alone is worth it to me. If you like custom roms, you can check out TheCookieRom. It's a feature loaded rom if that's what you want. The link is in my sig.

Use a backup app for your apps and your contacts if you don't want to get those from the google server.
Oh and NANDROID IS YOUR FRIEND!!! I don't know how to stress that more but if you mess something up, you can restore from nandroid and POOF! All better.
Thanks for the reply, I got the NANDROID backup figured out and completed, I just need to figure out how to backup my aps.

I recommend MyBackup Pro. It seems to restore more of my apps than Titanium Backup (even the latest version - just tested it the other day when I flashed an update to xtrSENSE).

[Q] Factory image removed because unstable?

Hi All,
i received my device 7 days ago. The Devices worked perfectly.
Yesterday, i deciced to test the Canogenmod Nightly for about one day and then i want to revert back to stock. i downloaded the Image using Nexus 4 Toolkit, i flashed it manually with the flash-all.bat. I never flashed a custom Recovery, only temp-booted it with fastboot.
But after restoring the Stock rom - it is very unstable, Lots of warm reboot (X bootsplah during usage or idle mode) unstable WIFI.
so i think Google removed the Factory Image because of it (and the LTE Story, of course).
maybe someone took a full backup from the original supplied rom, (GSM Europe)
Any help would be appreciated .
Thanks
Edit: i tested with both Factory Image (4.2 and 4.2.1)
Isn't the stock rom what was on your phone before you flashed (and was fine)?

there must be somthing different, I didn't took a full Backup from the Original preinstalled ROM, because i thought:" i don't care, if i want to revert to stock ROM, i can download it..."
i think, i learned my lession
I have used the stock images available at phantasmagoria twice and they are perfectly stable.

[Q] Want root, but need updates

Ok, so I got a new phone today from work, and I need to keep it as close to stock as possible. No problem there, as I like Samsung's UI and all. But in order to do proper backups and such I need root. Is it possible to get root, but still keep it stock? Or at least make sure I keep getting firmware updates?
Cheers!

Nah. The Samsung software has never really worked. That's why I need a proper backup program to get my sms and mms out...

Should I wait for an Android 5 ROM?

So in these past few months, I've messed around with my phone a couple of times and a bunch of stuff happened, and I was unable to enter recovery mode. But now, for some odd reason, I just can! So I guess its time for me to flash a Custom ROM since I've had such poor battery life after rooting my phone (thanks to towelroot) and a bunch of other issues.
Do you think I should wait for an Android 5 Custom ROM or install an already existing ROM like CM11? I REALLY do love the Lollipop look, but I've been put under the impression that it's easy to switch from ROM to ROM, so is it just better to go to CM11 now and switch to a Lollipop ROM later on, when it's fully developed?
Thank you!

You can install CM11 now and when Lollipop is released, I'm sure that CM brings an update with the Android 5.0 build
And Lollipop will be released for the S4 in the next year, I guess, so lot of time since then.

okay great, thank you! also, I've been reading through the CM11 threads and I've noticed that there's a lot of comlplaints about battery life- how common is this?
and out of curiousity, is there a sense ROM for the s4 19505? i absolutely LOVE the sense 6 look, the settings page, the stock apps, everything looks very professional.
oh and, what other ROMs would you recommend for me? i know this is a very open ended question, but there's just so many options, i'd like to get some suggestions from people who are experienced. of course my priorities are battery life and speed.
thank you!

ahaha, thank you! also, one last question:
is the cyanogenmod easy install reliable? like the one on the website, is that applicable for the 19505?
do i just click on the get started button and just go on from there? or do i have to download a specific build for the 19505?
additionally, do i have to do a nandroid backup before doing this, and then restore again after its done?
also, has there been any problems with that? thank you!

Okay, first of all, you have to do backups everytime when you flash custom firmware. I recommend you to make a Nandroid backup and Titanium backup.
But when you install a custom rom for example, it doesn't make sense to restore the nandroid backup afterwards. Because than you restore the previous rom again. Nandroid is a complete system backup. This is just for the case when something goes totally wrong.
You have to read the installation introductions and follow them, than you are safe

What du you mean with easy install?
No, for restoring apps and settings you can use Titanium backup but be careful it is difficult to restore Touchwiz system apps on AOSP rom like Cyanogenmod. This might cause trouble and won't work.

like when you go to cyanogenmod.com, theres a "get started" and it instals pretty easily; no flashing needed. does this work for i9505? also, the only apps i'd like to backup are whatsapp, bbm, some of my games and my contacts. is it possible to backup my contacts?

This will lead you to the cyanogenmod installer and this works for your device.
Yeah you can select single apps you want to backup with Titanium. You can save contacts by copying them to external sd card if you have one. Go to contacts-settings-import/export contacs. That's all. Or you download backup software from playstore but I never testet them.

just one last question:
do you have any tips during and after flashing a custom rom? some people said let it settle for a day or so, without re-installing lots of new apps. this would apparently minimize battery drain, but i'm not very convinced. does this work?

i just found it through researching ahaha, but thank you!
i'll be flashing it once my phone is fully charged
so just to get this straight::
1) make a back up with CWM and Titanium
2) use the cm installer
3) reinstall all Titanium backups and apps from google play store
is that the usual order? thanks!

What do you mean by it just stays open. Do you mean it never boots? Like a bootloop? If so, search 7.0 ROMs bootloop, you'll find the solution, tons of threads on the help and q&a here. But if you don't mean what I just explained then could you clarify?
Sorry for not being clear, i dont think it is bootloop. It boots into the rom no issues and i can use it normally and doesn't restart till a few minutes no matter what rom i flash.

If I were you I would flash back to stock and make sure you you don't have a hardware problem, If nothing else it's a chance to start over. I haven't gone to custom roms for these reasons, mine is my daily driver to and I can't afford to get caught without it.

No worries. Yeah I don't know what the issue could be, could be a ROM issue, it's weird though, but like the poster above me, it could be hardware failure and flashing stock would be a good way to find out.

I agree that they are a little hard to follow, I looked at them myself and it looks like the quickest way would be to go back to 6.0 and upgrade back to 7. But someone else could correct me on that.
For future reference, it's best to always twrp backup your stock rom before doing any kind of major changes especially custom roms. That way you can always fall back to original if something goes wrong.

Alright if you wanna go the custom ROM route, don't update to stock 7.0, not many custom ROMs work with it's new firmware. I'll get you a guide to go back to stock 6.0 then!
Edit: Alright @Philo0o, here's a good page with all the firmware links for your phone, and the commands to flash the firmware are there for you. Let me know if you have any questions about that.
Also, when your ROMs aren't working, what are you doing to try again? what I mean is you could try a full data format in twrp. Not just a wipe of data, system, etc.. A full format isn't quite like going back to stock, but it may help if there are leftovers somewhere causing issues if that makes sense.
so if you wanna try a full format, backup your internal storage to a computer, or to an sd card, and then format, and then you will have a clean slate, move what you need back over to your phone and voila!
Ill look through that tutorial, and whenever i flash a rom i do a full a wipe
