The best ROM for land - Xiaomi Redmi 3s Questions & Answers

I need ROM (not MIUI) for daily use..
What you suggest?
preference:
Smooth
High SOT (Screen-On-Time)
No bug in camera
GPS work good
Fingerprint (I have Fpc)
Tweaks
Thanks.

I think you should give a try for Xiaomi.eu Stable version 8.1.5.0
I used it for daily driver..

My vote is also on xiaomi eu stable rom. Tried a lot other versions and I'm not happy with them at all. Don't know why, but CM/Lineage rom's are chaotic. Too much developers trying to make good rom alone, and everyone is missing something. They should work together on one CM/Lineage rom.

I'm using Lineage from @fedosis for quite some time. It's stable, smooth, everything works as it should. SoT about 7.5 hours. You can try that one. Or, wait for @zwliew or another capable person who can create Nougat based rom for our device.
If you're really into tweaking everything, you should check RR or MoKee rom. Lineage covers only basic things, just like MIUI. There's no way to add listview animations, change colours of the notification area, move WiFi and data icons to the left, or any other tweaks you can find in Resurrection Remix.

Camera works well, but honestly I think the quality was a bit better on MIUI. GPS is bug-free: recently I have traveled about 500km by car and there were no problems at all (been using Google Maps).

Which Rom do you Prefer and why?

I'm currently on LOS but I Will return to nuclear as the battery is very poor for me on LOS and RR.
Resurection remix. Can 't beat the optimization options and battery life... Best rom for me.

How is the battery life compared to LOS and Nuclear?
I can not make comparisons between roms because I only use RR because of optimizations. I get 2 full days with 5 and a half to 6 hours of screen on time. Can not complain.
Resurrection remix is the only thing that exists.
Unlike the others, I haven't tried RR yet, I thought the locked thread was an indication I should wait.
I've tried Stock MM, Stock N, LOS and Nuclear. The stock ROMs were nice, but I don't get much out of Mifavor, and there are too many default apps I don't need.
LOS makes for a nice base, but requires a lot of tinkering to get what you'd otherwise get from a ROM that's using it as a base.
That's where Nuclear shined for me. It ships with substratum, has nice options for the lockscreen, and statusbar, and kernel optimizations. The battery life has been great so far.
Though, now I'm thinking I should give RR a whirl
This thread should've included a poll. My vote goes to NucleaROM. It is my first non-stock rom on this phone and the moment I started using it I realized how well LineageOS works on this phone and how little I will miss MiFavor or whatever it's called, although I have to admit that the stock rom was pretty fast and smooth aswell.

I love LOS 14.1 and am extremely happy since the speaker output was recently fixed. It seems to have the most support also (the whole LOS team)
I would switch to another ROM if the battery life is better though.. thats my only problem with the axon 7 now. are any of the other ROMs significantly better?
Stock, because deodexing is for noobs and bloatware is for pros.
Seriously, just stock. Performance is always better on stock ROMs.

I am on RR ROM and would not go back to stock. Sound is so much better and really loud without distortion.
I have tried most of the ROMs available and I like RR the best. Due to the customizations it has available, I like my phone to be the way I want it.

I'd like to try a non stock ROM, but having an Axon 7 and losing the DAC is madness to me.

What is/are your favorite ROM(s) for the G4 Play?

So I've been meaning to try out some new ROMs lately and I'm wondering if any of yallz have any favorites or recommendations to throw my way. Currently I'm running the latest Resurrection Remix build for this beloved device and have been stuck on it for a while. It seems many of our ROMs have stopped in terms of development so I'm looking for direction in what to try. Thanks!

Many thanks that's next on the list! Haven't even glanced in that direction yet.
Edit: How is it in terms of battery life? As of now I can go about 9 hrs with heavy use and no charge.

It's an efficient ROM on most platforms (typical for AOAP). I do not run it on my G4P as stock MM w/Xposed and a few kernel tweaks is a better match for my needs in this device.

I gave lineage a shot as one of my first ever custom OS's but it seemed to be lacking in customization. Last I remember there's no stable substratum support or anything of that sort and I love my colors haha. Maybe I'll give it another go though. Feel free to add anything to persuade me!

Yes I ran a deodexed MM stock rom for a while with xposed but I feel as if xposed gets messy (could just be me going crazy with the availabilities.) Definitely lots of fun tho. A couple hours ago I installed xposed over RR just to see what would happen and it didn't do me over like I thought. It worked well but xposed isn't the route I wanna take at this time.
Thanks for your answers!

Of the ROMs mentioned RR is probably the most customizable (w/o add ons) followed by AEX and Lineage. Each suits a different audience. Enjoy the hunt.
i have been on the rom that no one talks about much and i have been on it for months.i try to switch but keep falling back..its the VIPER ROM...its been very stable..good battery life...everything works..GPS is best among all roms..i dont know what they have done but i get a fix pretty fast...i am looking for an alternative but havent found anything that comes close in stablity and function.it may not be as customizable as RR or aospextended...but its very smooth ..even on stock kernel.give it a try if you may....https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=889964283620760488

Your favorurite ROM with Slim Recents or OmniSwitch?

Hi all,
I am not a fan at all of the original card recents in stock/AOSP. I have been using RR and the slim recents are great, but the ROM in other areas has gotten worse in recent updates.
There are a lot of other ROMs now, and I don't really have time to look at and flash every single one; and many don't list all their features.
So I want to ask your opinions - what is your favourite ROM which at *least* has a replacement recents working like RR slim recents or OmniSwitch?
Thanks for input!
Almost every ROM has it, AEX, RR, Cosmic OS, DoT OS. I personally don't like it TBH.

See the thing is I never heard of those ROM's. RR is a mature and long-standing one but it's buggy, at least on our device.
I swear I tried Cosmic OS and it didn't have it....
....guess I will have to try them all then :\

Oh, well then AEX certainly has it. I'm currently using it and it is great. And yes, RR is really buggy.
crDroid sounds good, no complaints in the past few posts - only praise. Think I will give it a try. Really don't care about most of the other features beyond basic stuff like LOS has, but if it's stable then I'm happy
Thanks guys!

Best custom rom in your opinion

just wanna know what custom rom you guys use as daily driver and i wanna know why, also pros and cons
Try them out. To each their own and some may find this topic rude.
Check this out : https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/custom-rom-t3867290/page57
It's OP6 but not much difference as you know.
The spreadsheet on the last page is pretty nice.

CAF PE has fingerprint support for 6T?
For the first time (since OnePlus 5) I've been happy with stock OOS. Even the Oreo base didn't seem as polished but now I can happily say I haven't felt the need to go to a custom ROM.
The only inconvenience is not having full/proper OMS support, so I have to reboot to see built overlays in Substratum. Other than that I have no complaints.
Honestly all these roms, even w/FP support, are not better than stock OOS.
*None are as smooth
*Obviously none are as stable
*Either a rom is jam packed with features you may find useful, but buggy as hell. Or they are stable and powerful, but the only features are to change the time in the status bar.
*No rom has been able to imitate or even out perform OOS gestures, which surprisingly is pretty important for me.
But if I had to pick one it would be Omni Rom. Most balance of all things.
The new official omnirom is great although I couldn't get microg to work. It is the only ROM that screen casting worked for me.
The stock ROM with XXX script is pretty good.
The ROM I used the longest is carbon ROM.
Best is going to be different for each user as not all users require the same options. Right now I am on omni official although microg doesn't work. Using gapps for the first time in three or five years. Kinda odd using Google apps again.

For me, MIUI is laggy and slow mess. Gets really slow as soon as you start using phone.
I recommend Lineage OS 16 by AmulyaX. This is by far the smoothest ROM available to our phone.

I try a lot custom roms aosp PE, LOS, Syberia, etc, all them have poor battery and some bugs
Now i'm in last xiaomi.eu stable (miui 11) veeeery smooth, good batery life and performance. no bugs. And notifications don't dissapear.

Agree, miui 11 has "automated task" it can auto turn off wifi over-night and turn back on in the morning. I use this automated task + naptime almost zero battery drain overnight. I just miss the smooth of caf base rom. Miui has much more useful feature and navigation gesture of miui is far better than Google does
