This is the exact reason why I Do not belive all idiots in this xda forum, all people who write download download now "official offcial "
people just want nougat and some people do not seem to give a flying **** about if its beta software or final software.. they just want it now now now.
THAT is the reason I am STILL using 4.0 cause I am waiting for more trustworthy evidence.

I wonder what you are doing on this forum still being on 4.0. 4.1 is stable AND official for a long time now. I assume you're talking about EMUI because latest official Android is 5.0
This is all about hobby and most people here know that and take (calculated) risks just for fun. I am on Nougat and I am happy with it but I can fully understand when you stick to what you have.
It is indeed silly that naïve people get advice to reset and on 1 of april you should be aware of that but this one was bad taste.

Android 7 Nougat Update Schedule & Release Date: When's Your Phone Getting It?
Huawei Android Nougat Update
Huawei has come in leaps and bounds during the past 18 months. It was also one of the first handset makers to get an Android Marshmallow phone out — the AWESOME Huawei Mate 8 shipped with Android 6 during November, just one month after Google released the software. This puts Huawei in very good stead, as it is confirmed to be updating its Mate line at exactly the same time this year — November. If this happens, an entirely plausible potential, then Huawei would have one of the first, save for Google’s Nexus phones, Android N phone on market.Expect the Huawei P9 and Mate 8 to get the same treatment during December at the earliest. On November 16, leaked details have provided some information of when the Huawei Mate 8 will be updated to Android Nougat. The firm has already launched the Mate 9 with Nougat pre-installed, so in many respects it's a matter of Huawei tweaking things to be backwards compatible with the older model. The update has not been rolled out officially for the Mate 8, but it has been discovered uploaded onto Huawei's servers. XDA Developer forum users have downloaded the files and installed them on their Mate 8 units. As well as all the Nougat features and updates, the new version brings a fresh build of Huawei's Emotion UI straight from the Mate 9 (version 5.0). This includes a new app drawer option and better multi-window functionality for multitasking several apps at once on the handset's big screen. On December 1, Huawei has now revealed the extent of its plans for Android Nougat updates. As previously leaked, the company has now confirme that Android Nougat will arrive bundled with version 5.0 of the EMUI software. A specific date has not been confirmed, but Huawei has said Q1 2017 will see a rollout begin for its range of Android devices. Handsets which will be updated include the Huawei Mate 8 and Huawei P9 in the first wave, subsequently followed by the Huawei P9 Plus, Huawei P9 Lite, Huawei Nova, and Huawei Nova Plus.As well as the onboard Nougat improvements, Huawei is bigging up how much more intuitive and secure EMUI 5.0 is, saying that it "significantly cuts down on the number of steps needed to achieve the desired function.""Furthermore, the user can reach 90% of the core functions in just two to three clicks," it added. One beef we've always had with EMUI is being remedied - the platform never had a traditional app drawer, but with the new update you will optionally be able to switch this otherwise standard Android feature back on. Huzzah.According to details leaked on December 6, the Huawei P9 and Huawei Mate 8 may be updated to Android Nougat as soon as December 7. The info is coming out of Huawei's home nation of China where it is claimed internal documents have been seen. It's alleged that a build number B352 for the Huawei P9 and B552 for the Huawei Mate 8 are expected. However, crucially the documents are talking about the release in the Chinese market, so we don't know if we will see a wider rollout at that time of if other global regions will have to wait - possibly the global rollout may occur in Huawei's previously announced target of Q1 2017.

You see what I am talking about ? people write false miss information all the time
THERE IS NO OFFICIAL 4.1 VERSION! IT HAS BEEN BETA ALL THE TIME!!! What does it matter if it is official or not yes it a official beta!
4.0 is the last official final version, and nougat is a OFFICIAL beta.
Regarding 5.0 we only seen a few people reoproting here they have got OTA updates WHILE not being in the BETA program or have installed any beta version.
If you get 5.0 OTA whrn you are on b192 then you know for sure it is official, but again, huawei have done this before pushing out beta software to a few countries, they did that in poland with mate 7, like 5 months before the final was released, so you have to keep this in mind too, for us non chinese people it is hard to gather the correct information, since we do not use or can even read chinese websites and social media.
We have seen a lot of people getting 5.0 ota when they are on Beta version, you will get beta version with OTA if you are using a beta version currently, or if you have sign up with the hicare app, you get early adopters versions. The confusion is when people say they get OTA but they get it while using beta software and then say it is final version.. then people keep spreading false or non-confirmed information that this is the final version.
I have still seen no offocial from huawei on any of their websites that the 5.0 final has been released.
A beta tester said only 1 week ago the final version is not out yet, cause huaewi did just send out a new beta version to their beta testers, it takes atleast 3-4 weeks after they push put a beta version to finalize and going thru all bug reports.
People are desperate and they are simply to eager to install and go over to nougat that that they do not care or get blind for the actual information, it becomes a snow ball effect, people just keep writing over and over it is official and final etc etc until people believe it is true.
If you ask me, current status with mate 8 android 7.0 is that it is in the last phase beta. According to leaked roadmap Android 7.0 should had been released in January.
People are free to use beta version if they want, I have had good patience and waiting even if my fingers are itching currently because of my frustration I Want to move over to 7.0 the minute the official version is released, not later.
What we need is more chinese people in this forum who are watching all the chinese websites.. it is their everything is happen, it is the FIRST source for huawei phones not xda where huawei is kind of small compared to a lot of other brands.

I got an official. Just flashed it from the xda forum.
If you want to have a nougat - you need to flash it by yourself. If not, wait for OTA and dont ask questions.
simple as that ;]

Because you stated 4.0 I assumed you were talking about EMUI version as I mentioned. There is sometimes a lot of confusion interpreted as false information.
My Mate 8 was delivered with Android 5.0 and using eRecovery it installs 5.0 so I assume it is an official release.
Regarding Chinese sites, I don't understand Chinese but with current possibilities to translate whole pages it is feasible to visit Chinese sites and read latest information. I found my latest version B577 there.

6.0 and emui 4 please

Well I just got my honor 5 and wanted to upgrade the software, emui says it's 3.1 and when I put the check for updates it says there are no available. Nether when I check my lollipop 5.1.1 to got to Marshmallow. No upgrade available.
My cellphone was one of the Prime Day 120 bucks, KIW-L24c56.
Is there something I should do? I know very few of cellphones, but at least my moto g2 asked me itself to upgrade to Marshmallow which I did, apparently this has Marshmallow upgrade also but nowhere to be found.
Than you.
Wait for it its not fully out yet.. it takes some time.

im checking the hihonor website and there is no 6.0 upgrade
Is it just me or no one else can see it ?

Well... so far no luck upgrading.
I'm new in this subforum (just got my KIW-L24 last night) and have no idea what the "-c56" on your model number is so hopefully I'm not wasting your time, but
I was able to update mine to marshmallow using this update package that was provided in this thread.
Just make a "dload" folder on your internal storage and extract the update file from the zip to it. Then in system update on the phone, hit menu and local update... should walk you through from there.
Hope this helps!
well apparently Huawei pulled out the update because there were some issues with the phones, they are gonna work on it and put the update on L24 with Marshmallow 6 and Emui 4 back when everything is resolved.

Did you hear this from Huawei? I'm thinking the same thing and posted this in another thread, but was wandering if it was officially a problem.
See below:
They have removed marshmallow from the site. It's not official, but I believe they are doing some work to it. It was extremely laggy and had poor battery life and performance compared to lollipop. I reverted back after running it.
You guys would be better off waiting to see what repairs are done to it.
When you click on the support site, look to the right under manuals
http://www.hihonor.com/us/support/
You will see how to rollback officially from Marshmallow, if there were no problems, I'm pretty sure that would NOT be listed the same day marshmallow was removed from the site

Yea, I wrote to them and they replied me that there were some issues regarding the update. One day there was the update and the other it wasnt, so I asked them and they said their engineers are looking into it and as soon as possible its gonna be back posted on the website.
amazing how these buggy updates make it through testing to get released, beyond belief & biggest drawback with current phones is crappy firmware & apps , programming, testing & design rules needs massive improvement ...
Android itself is big part of problem ...
Funny how CM has a better software compared yo such big brand Honor/Huawei
Just now at the Honor US support site.
There is this

Ok so your saying that U.S.A. will definitely have the update even though Huawei says that they do not support in the USA for this phone? I need to be sure because I have already decided what my replacement is if I can't upgrade this and will be returning in a couple of days.
Unread count icon badge is not showing anymore in my mate 8 64 GB
Any help how to make the unread notification badge work again on my mate 8 using stock room

I'm not trying to be an a** about this, but, I'd really like someone to answer this question.
What difference, in "real world use" does it matter if you have 6.0 or 7.0?
I ran my mate2, on 4.3 for well over a year before they released the 5.x update, and, had they not given an easy way back, I probably
would have stayed on it. It was just THAT stable. Huawei's 5.x was very stable on my Mate2, and I kept it 100% stock, until September
when I upgraded to the Mate8. 6.x on my version of the mate8, is just flat out stable (Nova Launcher Prime). I'm not a gamer, but I
do a ton of phone (2000 minutes/month), lots of web based work related things, streaming, Mp3's, email, text, photos (Camera FV-5).
I use to be a flash-a-holic back in my PDA phone days, but, phones to me, are "tools". I just pick them up and use them. The version
of software isn't important as is stability. As long as my apps are supported, the version to me, personally, makes no difference.
Don't get me wrong...you guys that flash, tweak, and run the bleeding edge stuff, eventually makes it better for everyone, but, I just
can't wrap my head around being pissed off if a phone, 6-12 months old, as long as it works as built won't get a newer version of
Android. I can see minor builds, patches, but going from say a 5.0 to 6.0 or 6.0 to 7.0 is a "major" update and perhaps the hardware,
as built by a vendor won't support it, but if your phone works, what's the big deal?
Maybe I've been out of the flashing all the time thing to figure it out.

Does anyone know when the Android update for the Huawei Mate 8 in America will come or is there a way to update the OS through flashing since update isn't supported in America. Thank you.
The last OTA update on L29, if I remember correctly, was B180. The B320 was done via the dload method. I suppose you could use the same even if Huawei do not push a Nugat OTA update in America. But as pointed out, do wait for the official as the current beta is buggy.

Where is the Nougat update for L29C636?

So i am now starting to get extremely frustrated with Huaweis support teams and the lack of information on here. I have been waiting for a nougat update since the betas last December came out and still nothing. I watch every device model of the mate8 get this update except the model i have listed in the title. Even the L09C636... so where the update for the dual sim L29? and why are there basically no useful threads for it?
I have tried unlocking the bootloader to install the last beta build i have downloaded because it wont install with the official update app. The emui site that is listed all over the mate8 forum keeps telling me that i have not been signed into my huawei ID for more then 14 days when in reality, it has been for almost 2 months now. Im tired of waiting and once again huaweis support is useless in this respect even though they have a whole official page dedicated to unlocking the bootloader.
So I am here with a last ditch effort to finally enjoy this phone. I really want to keep it becasue its had the best battery life on any phone ive tested of late, and its super fast and snappy. Im just picky on software updates becasue like most of you. I like to be as up to date as possible.
Please if you have any info or sites that can help me out with this issue put something in the comments, it would be greatly appreciated.
also im in canada if that has anything to do with my problems, because this is the Asian model of the device.
Same problem. Always waiting for Nougat...

But I digress I found what I was looking for finally even if jumping through hoops to get it and being the last device model to do so.

Hi there
It's so outrageous that we don't have Nougat for C636.
Someone should post a message in twitter or social media on Huawei's pages... Maybe the Singapore one as the C636 is the Asian model.
Though there are a couple of Nougat betas... We still don't have a stable version and we are way past Q1 2017 which was when Huawei said the Mate 8 would be updated...

I haven't done anything to it manually...
I've been worried there was chance I may break something... I've heard someone with L29 C636 upgrade manually to Nougat and then do a factory reset only to break it... And then be forced to root it... I want to continue using banking apps so I haven't risked it yet....
Hopefully I'll be updated via OTA to Nougat... Since I'm becoming a little restless...
Also have you manually updated at all? I've been on B193 since day one with no updates...
U can update your phone by firmware finder app ...

lucky you!
yes i updated manually from B180 to B320 and B320 to B560 and just now i'm updating from B560 to B580 by using system update (its my first time!!!) in this link:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-8/general/nxt-l29c185b580-frimware-t3595441
also before mate 8, i had sony and samsungs phone and updated manually a lot
but yes! its so risky.
I just upgraded via firmware finder to l29c636b585. Went smoothly.

Just got a Mate 8 (NXT-L09). No Nougat update available?

I thought the official nougat was released last month? I went to check for updates and it said none available. Still on 6.0
First of all check your Model & buldnr.
and second of all Trust me you dont want Nougat so many ppl want to rollback and arent able to. nougat is buggy as ****
I checked my model and build number. What do I do after that?
tell me the buildnr.
L.09CXXXBXX ?

Number one, It's easy to roll back (had to do it it because I flashed a test-keys build), number two, what's buggy about nougat? I've installed it on my L09C432 and have had no issues with it so far, if anything marshmallow was much buggier.

@OP
You could get the answer just by reading this forum. Everything is there.
But I get that it's a bit confusing, and it takes time to sort all the infos. So here's the main ideas.
Final release of nougat (Or EMUI 5.0) is expected this summer. This release will be pushed automatically on every mate 8. But not until a few more months.
Until then, there are betas. Those betas are pretty stable, but they are still only betas, test versions. There will be changes until final release, they do not work perfectly on every mate 8 out there, and more importantly they are not automatically pushed to every phone.
There are many variant of the mate 8. Your build number means that your have a model L09C636. And your software is on build 191. The build 191 is a stable and final release of EMUI 4.0, huawei's version of android 6.0.
Huawei regularly release new builds, but not for every variant. Build after 500 are EMUI 5.0, wich is android nougat. But also, every build after 500 is NOT final. Even if it's official (made by huawei) and stable, it's not definitive. And that's why huawei does not release every build for every model. At some point they will reach a release stable enough and release it for every variant, bu not for now.
So, can you get nougat ? Well, yes, but I wouldn't advise it.
There are many ways of installing one of the newer builds. If you really want to, there's even ways of changing your phone variant, since the difference between most variant is only software. But it's not really safe, or easy. For some, with the right model, it might not be that hard. But for others, the installation of the beta fails. The phone ends up not recognised as any model anymore, and is partially or totally unusable.
It's really not a good idea to start messing with your phone system if you do not know what a custom recovery, fastboot, or adb is. And if you are familiar with those, then you should know that there is always a chance that you will end up having to spend hours trying to understand incomplete guides to resurect your phone after something did not work as another guide said it would. Plus, nougat and emui 5.0 are not that different. The update does not radically change anything, it's really not worth taking any chance just to get it a few month early.
@EGOiST1991
I'm on C432, had teskey for a while.
I think what I did was
Fastboot -> flash TWRP 3.0.3..0
format data, then erase everything. don't reboot (since you just erased TWRP as well, you won't have it anymore after next reboot.)
Install kangvip ROM (don't ask me why, it's the only one I could get to boot. And it gave me build number C432B560, even though the rom in itself was buggy as hell.)
Then I used Dload method to flash the official C432B560
The phone would not boot, but I still gave it 10 or 15 minutes.
I booted to recovery again, did a factory reset. And now it works.

I used the files from this tutorial https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-8/general/how-to-downgrade-beta-b521-to-b170-t3546264 but there are rollback files for almost all models i think. Tutorial would be the same on all models though, all you really need is the rollback file and a full rom of the previous version you'd like to downgrade to. PS! I rolled back from b560 test-keys, not b521 and it worked flawlessly.

Final release of nougat is out for alot of models, china's had it for months, NXT-L29C432 and L09C432 has started getting it via OTA for some time now, and im sure other models also already got the final version, so saying every release before summer is beta is wrong.

I'd wait...after watching the threads, it's still got a couple bugs...bluetooth and what not.
But, if you really want to, check this thread>> https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-8/general/update-to-nougat-easiest-playstore-app-t3554957
Lot's of people have been successful using it. I can download it, but it's not the "full" update for my version of the Mate8, so it won't
update. Since, if you believe Huawei, the "official" version is due out sometime between now and the end of March...I can wait.

You might be right. It seems b560 is considered final version ( At least for the c432) and is being pushed to non-beta users. I though it was still beta.
All the more reason for OP to NOT try to force the update manually ! Just wait, it's comming in the next few months.

I am in the UK with NXT - L29C636B193
Dual SIM 4gb
I am still on June secuirity patch.
Are there any later style releases for my device?
I thought that stable official nougat was already released and I thought Huawei just didn't push an OTA to models not in China.
Also can I update to nougat stable versions using firmware finder? In screenshot below. Without losing warranty or using root as I want to keep Android Pay intact.
Thanks

Android 8 and EMUI 8 coming very soon

Hello guys... Just want to tell you.. New and big update is coming soon.. Its android 8 and emui 8..
When exactly i have no idea but all what i can do is showing you what will it bring to us...
Enjoy waiting and hope to enjoy the update very soon ???
I did see it on Firmware Finder
Installation not approved
So sad that firmware finder doesnt have the capabilities to flash firmwares that is not approved for installation anymore unlike its previous version. (which is good either way to prevent people from bricking their devices). But since that I've been waiting the approval for april/may security updates on my P10 for 2 months now even it has been released on FF. Now the nova 2 plus has the oreo update but its not yet approved to be installed.
