[Q] What is this FSC script?!!? - Sony Xperia X Compact Questions & Answers

pls help me out guys
I downloaded a MM 6.0.1 ce1 region firmware from easy-firmware website but when Im trying to flash it flashtool gives a msg that those files are not in fsc script so they will be skipped! and it lists all the available files in ftf firmware!!
so when I accept it, it skips everything!
I checked in the ftf file and there is a default.fsc file in it, what is it?!
------
also when i try to creat ftf with flashtool it asks me to include fsc or not
what should I choose?!
im getting very confused here guys! help me out pls
---
Edit: Problem Solved! Afters searching a little more I found out that FSC script is a script required for 2015 and later phones that contrains flashing steps to be near or equal to sony's xperia companion
also after many try and fails, I realized that the default.fsc script in my 6.0.1 ftf firmware was somehow corrupted so I had to do this steps:
-extracting the .ftf file with 7zip
-deleting .fsc file from it
-selecting all other files and compressing again with 7zip with a name that ends with .ftf not .zip(not sure about this step being important but I did it anyway)
this was the only way flashtool would recognize my ftf file after modifying and the I flashed it and chose to use flashtools own fsc script and it worked out!

[Q] Open Xperia X8 ROM

Hi,I want to port Xperia X8 ROM to my LG P500. So,I downloaded Russian 2.1 ROM (.ftf file),but how can I open it?
FTF is zip file. Unzip it. You'll find system.sin. Google for sin2img and use it on system.sin file. You'll get system.img which you can unyaffs.
Extracted but didn't found any boot.img. So what? Also files needs to be extracted from .sin file as root,so it creates a root folder, which nor zip tools or kitchen can handle.

[Noob-Tutorial] How to create a CWM flashable zip file from FTF Firmware

Hi @all,
I´m using the Flashtool and other provided tools here in the Forum for a long time (thanks to all people who are involved in the developing)
Now I want to give something back.
I´m not a developer but I understand (hopefully) basic things.
I have also some phones which does not support the flashmode so I am reliant to the fastboot mode and CWM.
At this point my goal was to flash the stock ROM to the Xperia Z.
I found a tuturial how to make a flashable zip file for CWM but it was for old devices with yaffs2 filesystem and the new ones have ext4.
After some search I found everything what is needed and I want to share it with you.
The Tutorial covers basic things but maybe it will help some people who will try it.
Step 1
Download the Stock-FW you want (FTF-File)
Step 2
Rename the .ftf File to .zip
Step 3
Extract the system.sin (with 7zip or WinRar for example)
Step 4
Open Flashtool go to "Tools" -> "Sin Editor" -> Choose the extracted system.sin and push "extract" Data
Step 5
You will get an system.ext4 file
Step 6
We have to extract the files which are in the system.ext4 file - for this I used the DiskInternal Linux Reader
Step 7
After extracting the files you have to put all the files in a folder named "system" (low letters)
Step 8
Create a folder named for example "Firmware"
Step 9
Put the "system" folder in the "Firmware" folder
Step 10
Download the Attached META-INF File - extract it and copy the META-INF Folder in the "Firmware" folder
Step 11
Now you have in your "Firmware" folder two sub-folders
"system" and "META-INF"
Now you only have to zip the both folders for example with 7zip or WinRar
Important: You have to set the compression to "Store"
Step 12
Copy the zip File to your SD-Card and flash it with CWM
If you want you can now add files to the system folder - like busy box - and or modify things and flash it over CWM.
Special thanks to Bin4ry
Best regards

Learned ! Thank you.
Nice tutorial!
EDIT: The flashable zip is huge (990MB), did this have anything to do with the compression being set to 'store'?

If you don't set it to store it wont work at all, no rom/flashable zip have anything other than store compression the same goes for bootanimations
Edit: OP/Mod you might just want to change TFT file to FTF in step 1
Sent from my GT-i9100 using Tapatalk 2
Edit2: It seems like this only goes for bootanimations, sorry my bad.
Great.....learning it now
Thanks for the positive feedback.
Changed also the typo on Step 1
I've tried setting compression to 'Normal' and all seems to be going fine...

You have to selected the .ext4 file open with LinuxReader. (like you .doc file with Word)
LinuxReader will "mounted" it in his own window, open your "new" disk (2Go) then select the "Save" option above...

did it via linux ! thanks any way !
When I tried to extract Xperia S's stock rom from the ftf using DiskReaderInternals, then the rom would boot but USB would never work. Even the guy above me (ShivangDave) tried extracting using DiskReaderInternals for Miro but the rom failed to boot and got stuck at the Sony logo. That's why it is better to use linux to extract the system.ext4 image.

This Tutorial should also work with the Neo V. Only one thing could be different.
But depending on your Android Version (when I remember well) it could be possible that you have instead of an ext4 file a yaffs2 file. In this case you can search the forum for an how to for this extension.

I use a template for flashing various things and I just drop stuff in it using Normal compression and it flashes ok, might be more important for full ROMs or zips to be run on the Phone like a boot animation, but for flashing the odd apk or other file I don't think it matters.

[STOCK ROM] [FTF] (C6602) v4.2.2 10.3.A.0.423 Generic US (Unbranded USA)

Hello!
I just downloaded this latest firmware using the Sony PC Companion, decrypted and used Flashtool beta to repackage it to FTF. Tried it on my own Sony Xperia Z and everything works great!
Please use the Tutorial on how to flash the Stock FTF ROM using Flashtool
Download the two files from Dev-Host and use WinRAR to join them together. Just unzip both files in the same folder and let WinRAR do its thing.
File #1: http://d-h.st/F2n (WinRAR Archive 237 MB)
File #2: http://d-h.st/Ebf (WinRAR Archive 512 MB)
Some things to note;
- You do not have to be rooted to flash this with Flashtool
- You can flash this with either a locked or unlocked bootloader
- Your Xperia Z's bootloader stays unlocked thus keeping the Bravia Engine
- Customization code for this firmware is 1271-0119_R5B
Hope this helps out people who are looking for the Generic US ROM to flash on their Xperia Z.
I would appreciate a Thanks if this post was useful to you.
Enjoy!
Cannot unzip file... please update on how to unzip? keep on getting error..

@HoOnZ: only 236.66 MB? You must have done something wrong. Please download the latest version of Flashtool from here: http://androxyde.github.io/. Flashtool beta is now deprecated. He said FTF, so no, it's not a flashable ZIP... Stock firmware comes in FTF files, custom ROMs in flashable ZIP. Just flash the FTF with Flashtool.

7-Zip does not support spanned ZIP files (.zip, .z01, .z02, ...), but WinRAR should work fine. Perhaps you have a corrupted download? Check if the file sizes (in bytes) and/or MD5 sums match:
Xperia_Z_C6602_10.3.A.0.423_Generic US.z01
536870912 bytes

Yes, I checked them last night. I even tried it here on my work computer and everything went through. Make sure both the Xperia_Z_C6602_10.3.A.0.423_Generic US.zip and the Xperia_Z_C6602_10.3.A.0.423_Generic US.z01 files are on the same folder. Have WinRAR open the Zip file and extract! WinRAR should be able to know what to do. Try it out again!

I download "Xperia_Z_C6602_10.3.A.0.423_Generic US.z01" via IDM when it start to download .z01 file change format to .zip
i don't it s converting or just find compatible software and show
problem is here >
when i try to extract smaller part it asks for .z01 part and winRAR cannot find another file !!!
and when i select that converted (.zip of bigger file) > Error; file corrupted !
maybe i should uninstall WinRAR and all app that support .zip and ... and then download it

IDM does not convert anything, it just changes the filename extension to .zip because it recognizes a ZIP file. To extract this archive successfully, the filename extensions may not be changed, so disable IDM or change it back to .z01 after downloading.

Thanks, i can make a zip flashable prerooted whit prf creator?
I'm repackaging same as @LadFromWales85. Let's see how it goes
Yes i upload wrong file sorry
Open ftf files with 7zip file manager
Open attached meta-inf.zip, extraxt meta-inf folder and copy to ftf files on 7zip.
Flashed now, without your META-INF, though I need to factory reset as I haven't done it since Lollipop and Google Play Services randomly force closes, as does Album.
I really don't want to though, as without USB mass storage access to the internal memory I can't correct the file modify time for pictures and they get sorted wrong in galleries. That and I'll have a Z5p soon so don't want to invest too much time fiddling with this!
