Can't Unroot S4? - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, i tried to Root my GF's I9506 with CF-Autoroot.
Safteynet fails and PokemonGo doesn't work, login problems.
I Unrooted trough SuperSU, restarted the phone a couple of times but PoGo still wont login.
She's on Stock Samsung Rom with Stock Recovery.
What can i do?
I was able to Re-Root with SuperSU for some reason. Had to update the binary tho. That's strange...
Shouldnt work if SuperSU unrooted in the first place?

Maybe it leaves files behind. If you're interested, there are ways to hide root from the game.
Anyway, the only sure way to remove root would probably be the flashing of a stock ROM.

Hmm. She really dosen't want to do a factory reset. so i guess i have to hide it then..
I think there are a few options i think all of them needs another recovery though:
Magisk + Magiskhide + phh
SuperSu, Suhide
Something called iSu.
Might it help to root again, remove anu "Su" files and folders trough ES Filexplorer? Then unroot from SuperSu?

If the phone is running a stock ROM, flashing a stock ROM usually leaves all of the data intact.

Removing any root file live might break root, which in turn won't let you remove any of the other files left.
Besides, you don't even know what files to look for.
Having a custom recovery won't affect her usage of the phone, nor the game. Besides, it gives you the benefit of making a Nandroid backup.

Ty for all the answers. So a custom Recovery doesn't trigger Saftynet?
Might as well install TWRP, backup and try to reflash stock rom from there.
Samsung Galaxy S4 International Qualcomm (jfltexx)
Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE Advanced i9506 (ks01lte)
Which one? i suppose its the 9506, flashhing my old CF-autoroot for my 9505(jfltexx) didn't work.

To flash a stock ROM, you need Odin, Samsung phone drivers, and the stock ROM from sammobile.com.

OK. But i'll do a backup on twrp first. Ty ty
Fixed it! Reflashed stock Rom with Odin and now Pogo works again!
Ty a lot for all the help. you guys are the best!

Root checker says I don't have proper root access.

Hey, so my root checker is failing, and I have no idea why. I'm using TWRP and have flashed Illusion mod, however, I don't have any root access to kind of tinker with my CPU levels.
I'm basically thinking I have to re-root my device. MY question is, I spent a lot of time customizing my phone exactly to how I'd want it and I just found this out. If I back up my custom flash, and reroot my device, can I go back into TWRP and restore my backup? Will that mess anything up?
OR most importantly, does anyone know how to give full root access to an already rooted device?
Thanks! I'm almost there with my 100% customized phone, I'm VERY eager and have been having a BLAST learning all this.

You won't lose anything if you reroot your device. You don't have to wipe data. Have you tried downloading supersu from the play store and letting it install the binaries? Or flashing supersu through recovery?

Yeah, I have tried downloading supersu from the play store... but it says it cannot update the binaries. Not sure why.
I'll try flashing supersu from recovery though. Might be a better idea. If I flash supersu through recovery, will it install all the latest binaries as well? Or will I still have to update it later?
edit: flashing the SuperSU worked perfectly!!! I only tried installing it via playstore, not actually flashing it. Thanks a ton!!

Permanent Root?

After installing the lollipop update I lost the rooting to the phone.
I rooted my phone again but to be sure for the next time,is there a way to root Lenovo a6000 plus permanently?
When u flash new rom, you have to root again, no way for permanent exept root option include in the rom
You wanted to root again hah? Flash SuperSU.zip (based on my knowledge stock LL cannot/hard to root withe root.apk like kingroot. So, i think the latest tricks is flash the supersu.zip) but still... if you are Advanced User if not dont trying it

For me root still work even on reboot. To root my phone, i flashed SuperSU.zip with custom recovery twrp. How about you? Did you using same thing like me or by apps like KingRoot.apk?

Yup obviously.. By SU... I never use kingroot... Well i know it shouldn't have happened... Btw fresh rom install will solve it.. But i don't wanna do that.. Setting up phone again and again suks.. I just asked it because i thought if you might have had this problem! Thanks btw
To clear things up. Think of root as a system module (binary) ("su" module located in "xbin"). Each time you install a new OS, core partitions need to be formated (/cache, /data, and ofc /system). If the SuperUser module is not pre-installed in the new firmware you are flashing, it can be additionally obtained through Chainfire's installation zip. Nearly all custom ROMs have it and will work just fine, with some needing user input to activate it (Settings > Dev Settings > Root Access). While stock ROMs will NEVER have root capabilities pre-loaded.
So, all in all:
No, there is no such thing and will never be, as permanent root. Everything is being overwritten all the time.
Rooting and re-rooting the A6000 is safe and easy.

Magisk on s7 & s7 edge

Hi Everyone, l have a question about this Magisk Mod and its directed to s7 & s7 edge users. If anyone is using this Mod, may you please tell us how you got it to work, coz l have tried and failed many times. Your help would be kindly appreciated..
King Addies
Root and install xposed.
I have used a stock rom, as it says on the magisk thread and followed all the instuctions and still failed.. lm not really botherd about using the mod anymore, but l made this thread so all the other people who are in my situation can get help or a tutorial on how to install it on s7 & s7 edge. Coz l could not really get much help from the official thread.

I'm using sac23's custom Note 7 port ROM. After installing his ROM, I went to SuperSU, clicked the option for cleanup to install different Super User app. Reboot phone. Then I booted into TWRP, flashed Magisk, then flashed Phh's Super User. Reboot system. Then install Magisk Manager or Auto Magisk app. Activate Auto Magisk under accessibility settings. Works like a dream.

Thanx for your input on this issue mate, hope the info you have provided helps all those that want to use this Mod on their s7 or s7 edge phones..

One more step, sorry. You have to also install Phh's SU app from the Google Play store.
Besides Sac23's Note 7 Port Rom, has anyone else tested or used this Mod on any other s7 or s7 edge Rom..

Magisk works fine with any ROM. You just need to use a custom kernel or:
Obtain root using CF - Auto Root
Remove root via SuperSU app
Click No when asked about restoring stock boot.img
Go through the normal Magisk/Phh Superuser steps to install
Only thing I've noticed is that banking apps can still detect that I am rooted. Not sure if this is because I did SuperSU/modified boot.img method. I may try flashing back to stock via ODIN then flashing a custom kernel and install Magisk that way and see.
I've already tried all this. Do you think it's because i've got encrypted device?!
I've tried so many combinations as well... In the end, i have to always restore the stock firmware, run CF-autoroot and xposed normally.
Any ideas why? anyone?!

Encryption isn't the reason, I'm encrypted too.. There isn't really a benefit to it right now anyways. SafetyNet has been updated, you can't pass it with Xposed PERIOD until another bypass is done by the dev.
The key like someone said on a different thread, is to run CF Auto Root, then unroot with SuperSU. Follow the steps from there and you should be good to go but as I've already said, a lot has changed since then. Su-hide isn't working half of the time etc. Better off waiting for them to sort out all the issues first.

Maybe I did have it working then, the only thing I tested it with Pokemon go and it didn't work.. so I just assumed it wasn't working, so I reverted all changes. I spent way too much time than I had hoped

Magisk is pointless right now. Simply having an unlocked bootloader causes SafetyNet to fail. The latest version of magisk also removed the checkbox to turn root on and off. To use Snapchat YOU MUST login before any modifications. Make a titanium backup of Snapchat logged in, then you can restore it whenever you want.

What part of S7/S7Edge do you fail to understand?
Or, boot into TWRP, format data to unencrypt then flash latest magisk and reboot. Once booted, open magisk manager hit menu button and open settings, check magisk hide. Exit settings, open menu and open magisk hide, there you can check any app you want to hide from root. done.

Can't root anymore

Hi All,
I had obtained root via CF-Autoroot and was using it with xposed for the last few weeks without issues. I took the lunge and tried to install phh super su, magisk systemless root. so the nightmare begins for me and i'm hoping it's an easy fix!
My system is still encrypted (I believe because TWRP can't see the system) SD card is fine. I've wiped my device a few times already and am hoping I don't need to wipe it again(prior to this setup).... So currently it's running fine without root access (How I hate android without root!!!)
- I've tried flashing Supersu zip in TWRP and it's failed - I believe it's not supported yet for encrypted devices.
-I've tried using the original CF-Autoroot method I used initially.
Both methods, it boots up straight away (no optimising apps) and after installing supersu app from playstore, it says no binaries found.
What are some ways I can inject root without wiping my device?
Please help me! Thankyou!
Maybe go back to the start and flash original FW through Odin and start from scratch, so you have a fresh phone to work with.

That's my plan when I get home tonight. I want to flash the original firmware file my phone started with (I'm assuming it won't delete anything?) and then run through the root steps again.. if it doesn't work, I'll wipe my phone and make sure I get rid of encryption this time..

I think you will only lose stuff if you do a system reset after installing the original FW.
I only have had to do that on my tab S not my Edge after coming from a custom rom as I got slow down.
Resolved: flashed original rom and obtained root with cf-autoroot.
If someone has detailed instructions for magisk systemless root and xposed, it'd be much appreciated.. i want to have the option to use android pay or play pokemon go if i wanted. Thankyou

Lost root after flashing 4.1.6, Please help.

Hi, Can someone please help, I must have done something wrong. Flashed official 4.1.6 update through twrp successfully, but lost root, tried to flash super su again (ver 2.86), but got stuck in boot, logo froze.
Flashed 4.1.6 again, phone works but no root still.
Is that a wrong super su version or did I do something else wrong?
Help will be really appreciated.
Regards
After flashing a full update you'll always have to reflash your root solution. I guess you mean SuperSU v2.82...
Use the official 2.82, found here (there's a link to the flashable zip). There's also a link to a version to try if you're experiencing bootloops.
You could also try the release candidate, found here.
Magisk all the way
1. Wipe data
2. Flash ROM
3. Flash root package, either SuperSU or Magisk
4. Reboot
I see no reason why wouldn't this work for you

I think, I was not able to explain, Rom is already there, but I just flashed 4.1.6 update, and root was gone.
Just wanna avoid all those data backup, restore, register all new banking apps etc, it time consuming and painful.
I am pretty sure, root can be restored, when I have an unlocked bootloader, twrp recovery working properly.
SuperSU is still there in apps but can't open as says, root not available. However, can uninstall this if that is required.
Cheers

You can try to uninstall it through supersu app but make sure to keep you boot img. Then your phone will be fully unrooted, go into twrp and reflash supersu/magisk
