Dev activity? - Xiaomi Mi Note 2 Questions & Answers

Greetings;
I literally have one hand on "Place the order" button! on this phone but I look at the development section and I back off!
Are we in the wrong forum for this particular phone? Or is it too early? I mean this is a great phone, I have no doubt,
but I also know myself and if nothing happens on the Dev front, I'd probably sell it and lose a lot of money or I can go
for a 1+3t and be safe?!
Any input, opinion is greatly appreciated.

Why are you here instead of somewhere else and mind your own business, maybe start your own tread titled the same on you general section.
What do you think about that reason.

sorry had to do it.

Besides your snarky reply this kind of questiondoes belong in the General Section since it has nothing to do with development.
Just trying to help keep things clean and organized...I think the mods would appreciate it...I wasn't being rude. No need for a hostile come back.
WOW is this still here?

[THINK TANK]backlight notifications on bottom buttons from i9000... port possible!?!?

backlight buttons used for notifications on the i9000
i remember seeing this before in the theme and apps section and it got ruled out for the vibrant because of kernel issues i think it was... but they figured it out for the i9000, so i hope we can see this on our phone... soon.
btw... please dont flame and tell me this is in the wrong thread, because it will get more views here... and its in this section of the i9000 thread.
If you build it. they will come
Try this, it works like a charm: http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.led.notify
thanks... ive seen that in the market... but unless theyve changed the battery drain and the using home button to power the phone back up... it doesnt feel like a complete solution. atleast for me...

well the source is there from the i9000 build, sounds like you need to get to work to fit your needs.
oh and it's in the development section in the i9000 section because there is DEVELOPMENT done, unless you plan on doing something this should go in the Q&A section.
flame on!
Who cares if its in the wrong section or not? If everyone posted crap like that then nothing would get done with our phone so take that **** elsewhere. Anyway back to the topic at hand, just reading over the first post it seems as tho the dev who made that is willing to port it to other Galaxy S phones. Anyone try contacting him yet?

woww! a fantastic 4 reference...
youre sooooo clever
ive never heard anyone use that out of context like that before
what a clever clever girl you are
i know how these threads work.
and in case you havent noticed!!!
the i9000 is a GALAXY S,
now look at the back of your phone
it probably says GALAXY S
hmmmm... soo strange how that works.
it isnt my fault that samsung decided to put
out 5 different versions of almost the same
effing phone.
i do my part for the community anyway i can,
and i know as well as anyone else, the q and a
section doesnt get as much attention... so,
hopefully this thread will bring to life some actual
development since this can and should be port-able
id do it myself, but obviously i cant...
which is why i posted.

The i9000 is a variation of the Galaxy S just as the Vibrant, Epic and so on are. Each may be similar but no two are alike, if they were you wouldn't be here requesting someone do something you are too lazy to figure out and learn yourself. And yes it's strange how THAT works.
hmmmm... soo strange how that works.

Is it anyones fault? There is plenty of documentation available on android and there is the source for this project, why not contribute?

Do your part by not being one of the members that purposely posts things in the wrong section. If the moderators did not feel the need for separate sections we would have one general forum.
And the reason the Q&A section doesn't get "much" attention is because people like you refuse to post there.. why would someone looks there if you continue to post here?
Change the thread title to include [Think Tank] then he can't complain anymore.

because people like you are on a high horse... you arent a mod.
you arent the xda police. id just like to bring it to an experienced persons attention who could do it faster than it would take me to learn. why? cause i work and have a life that doesnt completely revolve around xda.
so why dont you go flame someone elses thread little lady... as you can see, there are some ppl here that would like to accomplish the same thing id like to see. which is to get more functionality out of my phone, since it is obviously possible on other "similar" models.
to the mods. if im out of line.

Really? Isn't the whole point behind a Think Tank to get people in here and try and get development done? Hmm seems to fit this thread perfectly. So what exactly is the problem now?
Edit: That configurable backlight timeout thread has nothing to do with this topic, It's a separate topic that in no way involves using the backlights as notifications. The other thread isn't a Think Tank so go flame in that one if your that hell bent on being useless to getting this to work on our phones.

it's a shame when someone takes the time to show you that what you posted has been done twice now but instead of bumping one of the old threads you create another one.
What was I for thinking about the actual guidelines around here.
Good day

sounds like a great idea... i guess im just hoping for an update.zip or apk possibly... like in the other thread... so that we can unlock this feature with ANY rom... but im glad to see people taking proactive steps... ill be sure to mention it on the samsung website...
sorry for the negativity previously in this thread... its just kind of sad to throw a disclaimer up, only to find someone try to tear it down... its unnecessarily negative when the out come of this thread is supposed to be positive.

Lets thank the moderators also

FOR WORKING HARD.
I appreciate the initiative my friend. Knowing my work here is appreciated does mean a lot.
But....... Once again, this is not a development thread and so belongs in General Discussion. This time, HD2 General Discussion since it's not Android related either.
Gonna move the thread but leaving a redirect for the time being.
hooray for the mods, cheers

yes of cause they deserve big thanks from us. We always grateful to the developers, moderators and whoever helps to achieve the target.
This thread is really something I've been waiting for. Since I bought my hd2 this site has been my daily journal. I've learned so much about something I've never heard about, that is: this community. Although in every single thread there may be some illiterate, there was never a lack of information. This is a joy for me, even not having anyone around to share the experience with, being afraid of robbery or envy. I had the opportunity to experience more platforms than my notebook is able to deliver me, and it was more expensive than my phone. Now we have the beginning of NAND and so much joy ... how can I evaluate my phone if it is just as I want it to be? I just have to login, pick a shelve, download, follow all the instructions without wanting to make it easier on me, that is, being a smarta** and check for the recurrent issues. Most of the time I stay with the "thanks" button, sometimes the problem seems to be different than all, so I report it, that's all... No fuss. Following this simple instructions I have found the best suiting ROM for my needs and I ready don't care what other people think about, its my phone still. So this is a big THANK YOU, other than HELP ME (that we are all used to), for the incredible existence that all developers, moderators, guinea pigs, etc, have put into it. You should be proud!
THANK YOU, so many times as this can still go on.
PS - When I have enough money, I'll get everyone here to have a beer in my bar!

only handful of thanks to moderatorscome on ladsssssssssssssss they also deserve the thanks for the hard work they doing
To be honest, I haven't noticed any moderator's work except for moving wrongly placed posts.
The fact that they tend to be invisible and not the heavy-handed type is the thanks that I offer them.
I am distinguishing between a moderator doing a moderator's job and the same moderator posting help and advice.
Yeah you guys really thanks!!
People say that facebook is like a refridgerator, you keep on checking it even though you know that there's nothing new. I must check XDA around 40 times a day - is that absurd or what?! i love this website!

Galaxy S II 32GB Exynos/Mali

Hi. I have one! I am an Android noob, but would like to give back where I can. Living in the wilds of Palm for as long as I have any tidbits are valued. If anyone wants/needs this ROM please post me explicitly detailed instructions on how I can capture this ROM and post/submit it to whomever. I dunno if this is a unique device given the 32GB storage, but would like to help if it is.
Just purchased today in Taiwan.
GT-I9100
2.3.3
I9100XXKG1
2.6.35.7 I9100ZSKG2-CL361136
GINGERBREAD.ZSKG2
Anything else anyone wants?
I honestly dont see why this thread is in andriod development section.
It's a nice thing from you, but this firmware is already on Samfirmware for some time. Latest one is KG6

Why do you keep posting the same thing so many times? You have opened 4 threads on the same topic. There is nothing special about your ROM. It is a standard XXKG1 ROM.

Honestly, what is it with you guys? The OP wasn't asking a question .. he was kindly offering to make his ROM available, in recognition of the fact that it is so rare!!!
In the light of this, it seems entirely appropriate for him to post in the Dev forum.
Instead he gets a flaming slap in the face cos why? .. cos he happens to have something you don't, and your little green eyes blind you to his generous offer, that's why!
Get over yourselves!

If it was a question it would have to go into the Q&A section.
This belongs in general since it has nothing to do with development, if you can't understand why it doesn't belong in development you don't belong on XDA.

Perhaps the people who don't belong on XDA are the ones who aren't moderators, yet post completely useless and rude comments in other people's topics out of some cyber-policing need?
I'm fairly certain the rules on attitude and proper forum conduct are as important as where to post, if not more.
Mea culpa, noobum es
I thank both of you, and do apologise to those who felt I was disturbing the force so much. Yes, trids it was an honest attempt to simply give back to the community. I was uncertain if I had something unique that could be a benefit to the dev community, so posted in the sections where experts were sure to find it. I never thought there would be such a hissy fit when someone tried to help. It wasn't like I was posting a youtube vid of hilarious cats. I was literally, and I believe still am, the only person on XDA actively posting about a long awaited device that there might only be a few thousand in circulation, the plurality being in the hands of those who can't and don't read this site. I count myself lucky to have this unique device, and hope those who don't, get one someday as well.
While waiting for the 32sgs2 I was mulling over other options, and was hence lurking in the HTC Sensation's forum. What appeared to me to be the same type of unicorn event happened when someone got an s-off unit somehow. He posted the info there as he knew he had something that was unique, but wasn't technically proficient enough to know exactly what to do about it, so he took it to the experts. As I've said, this would have been welcomed with open arms in Palm world.
Obviously, this thread, that draws the very life force out of all wise, valiant and brave men who happen upon it, should forthwith be drawn, quartered, staked, hung by the neck, stuck on a pike, be thence burned, and it's foul ashes scattered upon unsanctified ground underfoot of all manner of unclean beasts.

I guess I'm looking for justification for keeping it - or advice on where best to sell it!

Try XDA Marketplace - http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=476
But be aware of fraudsers. Thus read the first Sticky thread very carefully (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1100447)
Though in your case I dont think its very risky since you are the one selling....
Also search the Marketplace you will find persons who may be looking to purchase a Shift and you take it up from there. Like this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=931190&highlight=shift
and this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=880189&highlight=shift
and this other one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=761091&highlight=shift
You could also try and trade your Shift with any other device you may need etc etc. But as I said tread very cautiously at the Marketplace. Pay particular attention to the trader/buyer's Feedback at xda
You could of course also go the ebay route.....
Thanks for the info. I did look in the marketplace to see if anyone was looking for a Shift but didn't turn up any... must learn to search better!
I've previously only ever sold via eBay and will probably end up going that route, but appreciate the input.
