XePeleato LineageOS for 4X (Kirin 620) Discussion - Honor 4x Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi there, as can you see here https://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/development/xepeleato-s-lineageos-14-1-t3542120, from @XePeleato, he did a LineageOS ROM for P8 lite but he want to help us too, so read the post slowly and if you want to test it, go ahead
In Which phones works?
Che2-L03,Che2-L11, Che2-L12, Che2-L23, Che2-UL00, Che2-TL00, G735-L03, G735-L23
Downloads (Always thanks to Xepeleato for helping us, Really)
Experimental Build 1: http://hisiliconroms.pw:8080/4x-1.zip (it doesn't boot)
Experimental Build 2: http://hisiliconroms.pw:8080/4x-2.zip
Installation Instructions (PD: it is hard)
First of all, you need or XePeleato TWRP for P8 lite here http://error404software.com/android/recovery.zip, or TWRP 3.1.0.0 (custom) from Roman Horulsky here https://mega.nz/#!FxwWjJxA!KrLvc85QD9w97ECX3kNRHM5LLWdGLVQix524JnPk5Og
Go here and get the appflasher https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-4x/how-to/install-emui-4-1-4x-4c-g-play-g-play-t3515702
On http://hwmt.ru/oth/HWFF/info/view.php?find_model=ale-l21 download any rom that is says FULL, and add it to appflasher with the instructions in the post above
On TWRP Mount everything and install the P8 lite ROM (install ZIP)
Then on TWRP. reboot on Bootloader and Install TWRP again
On TWRP, go to Wipe, but before anything, FORMAT DATA (NO WIPE), why would you say? because when you install a p8 lite rom the phone encryptis itself and you can't use/wipe data, and emui data IT IS NOT COMPATIBLE with LineageOS Data
Wipe Cache, Dalvik, Data, Internal and System
Then install the zip posted above
Bugs ATM
Doesn't work:
No RIL on Single SIM Phones (on Double Sims RIL Works)
No Sound
No Bt
It seems it detects the sd card (you can enter to install things and everything, but only from the notification), in short words it isn't visible in media apps
When i connect the headphones the phone doesn't detect it
Record and see videos (.mp4 files)
Can't confirm, but maybe OTG (all of us the testers don't use it)
What works
Wifi (perfectly)
Camera
it seems GPS works
Install apps from explorer
Play store (it shows all the apps)
Dev Options
No problems with root (it needs to be flashed)
Many thins more
You maybe are wondering, why it doesn't boot on G Play/4X, or it has some sort of Wifi Bugs on G Play Mini/4C? because the net card, P8 lite (and probably 4C too but with different model) have a Siliscon Net card, and we 4X users have a Broadcom Netcard, so the romitself it is trying to load a module for a hardware that we don't have, so it doesn't boot
I did this post here, so we don't inundate the P8 Lite topic
if you have questions about this, it is your time to ask! (and if you are a dev, your help is appreciated)
EDIT: first experimental builds are up, see the 3rd page on comments (added pics)

Alright, so later on I'll build a special zip with a compatible kernel. This is going.to be the workflow.
1) You are interested and send me a PM
2) I send you the zip
3) You answer with your device model and whatever you think it's important like:'wifi didn't work, here's a logcat when I try to enable it's
4) I send another zip...

@XePeleato Thanks man! anyways so we don't spam your messages, it is better to comment here when you have the build done? or in any time

IT'S NOT POSSIBLE TO FLASH ON CHE2-L11
I have followed all the instructions (slow method), but flashing is not possible on my Huawei Honor 4x Che2-L11. It stops in the flashing process.
When doing adb sideload, it fails with the error message:
Code:
"E:unknown command [log]
Updater process ended with ERROR: 7"
(this is error message in TWRP, not on laptop)
I have never succeeded in installing CM before, so not surprising that I can't install LineageOS. Nobody has taken care of Che2-L11 so it's total uncertain situation while some claim it works but don't show how. I have followed all the advice, tried all the different TWRP versions, but it always got stuck on "patching system image unconditionally" (with CM 12.1 - P8Lite version). Probably reason might be that they are not wiping everything, but keep some partition but forget to tell me about it. I wipe everything.
We need some common effort to make Che2-L11 versions, work together. I can do my part if we cooperate.

As I said, this is a discussion and not the ROM itself, the ROM for 4X isn't available yet, anyways I put these instructions so you can test it, and your error isn't normal
If you want to try, get the boot.img and flash it, the phone won't boot
I made this discussion for people that are interested on lineage OS and want to try the experimental ROM that will be here soon
And it is weird that cm12.1 failed to you too, me with other users already installed other roms, like this one or cm12.1 and it flashed well
All from us for Honor 4X Che understand your frustration too, since even the other devs here of the 4X (che1) ignore us, but at least now someone want to help us,so we need to support him
And yes it is sad that even a dev from other phone is helping us, the only dev we had sold his phone

Thank you for the answer. Can you tell me what you wiped before flashing the CM 12.1? How did you perform the wipe? With format? I think there must be something remaining when you flash CM 12.1, which I am wiping.
Maybe I am flashing the wrong rom. I don't know that there exists any rom of CM for Che2-L11. The one I am flashing, I had to change the update-script to remove first line. Where is the CM12.1 for Che2-L11? I don't think any exists.
I fully understand the situation with lack of devs. I think it can be improved with some better documentation, for example we can make a separate thread here.

When I install custom Roms, first I install any p8 lite ROM (emui) then flash it, and then I have no problems
Sent from my Che2-UL00

So I should download the rom zip from p8lite thread and pm XePeleato for a compatible kernel for it to boot? Sorry but there's too many instruction. I can't follow btw I'm on b515. Should I use a p8lite rom for it to work?

@ericotena for now he want to test that we users with 4x, all of them doesn't work to see rare things, for example an 4X working
i mean yes download atleast the zip now, and try with those steps, personally i tested using 4X and @MarcoPLs with P8 lite rom, and we made it to test
Xepeleato said it is enought that if you quote him in 1 comment, so he will pm you then with a rom

@XePeleato I want to test it too when it is available haha. Thanks for your efforts on this rom!!!!

@XePeleato I really appreciate your great job and I wish you can help us , our poor Huawei honor 4x users

Don't worry, I couldn't PM you yesterday because the build didn't finish (nothing I can do about it). As far as I know, the ROM has to be compatible with Che2-L11, but if there's other more 'compatible' model I'd like to know it, like the ALE-L21 for the P8 lite.

Skinny_Pro Custom Boot Image for RN3

Hey guys, I have adapted my work on custom boot images to cover the Redmi Note 3.
I don't want to manage another thread so wander over to the RN2 thread where I will host work on the RN3 also.
A functional version is now available based on 7.2.50 boot.img. It will be slimmed down further to match the RN2 version but I need to be guided by feedback on what works as I do not have your device.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-2/development/b-skinny-pro-t3347906
Thanks you . i will test
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwdRTuyj12_ydFl0VGM4YWpZMWM/view?pref=2&pli=1
It is link?
---------- Post added at 04:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:29 PM ----------
It is working on rom dev 6.4.28 Testing more. What more can i do to improve battery life. Sr my english so bad
@phunghai110 All of the tweaks that apply to the Redmi Note 2 also apply to the Redmi Note 3.
The boot.img enables you to create an init.d script which is the main tool for managing performance / battery life.
Start by making sure your Busybox installation is up to date. Link to my BB 1.24-2 updater here:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwdRTuyj12_yY01jZGFTZi14X3c/view?usp=sharing
Next, update SuperSu to any recent full version (don't rely upon the stock MIUI included versions)
Now do everything in the first post here except for deleting fingerprint related files of course:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-2/development/b-skinny-pro-t3347906
Leave the zram lines disabled at the moment until I release a boot.img that successfully disables mcd service (waiting on feedback from Test3 version)
This should be enough to see an improvement. More to come.
Does it work on "unofficial" Miui Roms too ? Like this one lhttp://en.miui.com/thread-277452-1-1.html ? It's a 6.5.5 Global Rom

not sure, but if you have an unlocked bootloader & custom recovery there is not much of a risk to just try it out - just be sure to safe the original boot.img first!
i, for one, can confirm that it work's well on this modified rom by quakze: http://en.miui.com/thread-236615-1-1.html

Okay, thanks. I will try. I had the fear that it could hard brick my phone.
Every MTK based (advanced) phone user should familiarize themselves with using SP Flash tools - a hard brick is virtually impossible since the MTK chip is hard-coded to power on and be flashed via USB when it receives the special code sequence from such software. One piece of advice: Never-ever do a format using this tool unless you want to loose your nvram partition and hence IMEI.
Skinny_Pro_RN3_MIUI_7250-5_boot.img is looking stable (thanks to @schmanto for testing)
I cannot say whether it will be compatible with 6.5.5 yet but someone will tell me soon enough - there is no risk of anything disastrous happening and you will always have a good backup to recover too if it messes up
Tell me please 8020 v8 will work with RN3?
Okay, I read everything, but couldn't understand much (sorry )
Still I'm a go for experiments and testing, always ...
So what exactly is SkinnyPro, and why should I flash it? P.S. I hate Xiaomi, too! *high five* xD

Install EMUI from Different devices between 4X(620)/4C/G PLAY/G PLAY MINI/P8 Lite

Hi there, i was asked to do this post, with tutorials of htcmania and 4PDA, i say now, if some user of 4PDA is reading this and you dont want to post your information, pm me and i will delete it
Install EMUI 4.1.1/4.1 on 4X/4C/G PLAY/G PLAY MINI/P8 Lite (ONLY ADVANCED USERS)
Hi, searching things on 4PDA , EMUI 4.1+ Can be installed on these phones without problems, simulating being other phone (in this case P8 lite or Y6II)
Before anything, you need to be on LP/MM, on KK IT CANT BE USED
ONLY ADVANCED USERS, DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK
ON Y6II MOVE APP 2 SD USING STOCK METHOD IS DISABLED
IM NOT RESPONSIBLE OF DAMAGED PHONES, ETC, FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS REALLY CAREFULLY
You need Unlocked Bootloader, TWRP (from 4X/4C or P8 lite, depends) then you go here
http://hwmt.ru/oth/HWFF/info/view.php?find_model=
AND YOU ONLY SEARCH FOR ROMS OF CHE2-XX, CHM-XX, ALE-XX, CAM-XX AND FULL (IT CANT BE OTA, I REPEAT, CANT BE OTA), AND DONT INSTALL 28/11/2016 B893 OF P8 LITE
Don't install roms from ALE-04, CAM-L32, CAM-AL00 and CHE1-XXX, they are snapdragon
Then you download this updateflasher.zip http://www.mediafire.com/file/w9ms2fh8fr0atxi/updateappflasher.zip
When you have both downloaded, you need to move the UPDATE.APP from the zip rom that you got, and move into the appflasher, it should look like this
http://imgur.com/a/2hElq
Now you move the zip to your phone, mount all partitions and install normally, it will give some errors but dont pay attention, it is normal
before first boot, wipe with the default recovery data and cache
Then, on 4.1+ the internal mem is encrypted by default, if you dont want this, install twrp, go to alongside advanced wipe, you press format data, write "yes" and then data is ok to go
Some Pictures
CAM-L21 http://imgur.com/a/Vaen7 (EMUI 4.1.X)
P8 Lite ALE-21 http://imgur.com/a/t1sZm (EMUI 4.1)
The main differences is these roms are optimized, a lot, really, they are really fast, and you get 3.3gb internal instead of 3.6
IF YOU WANT TO RETURN TO 4X/4C/ETC
Simply do the same process as you did with with the CAM-P8 lite rom, but with any rom of your real phone
i mean, for example if you have a g play and you want to return to it, just put any rom that is LP+ on appflasher and continue normally
If you want to disable navbar, change qemu.hw.mainkeys=0 to qemu.hw.mainkeys=1 (if it isnt on the prop, add it manually)

This is very informative. :good:
Did you tried flashing using adb?
---------- Post added at 12:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:29 PM ----------
Anyone tried flashing using adb?
@trulalueclav some people tried on htcmania, but on p8 lite and it worked for them, 4x or 4c didnt tested via adb
thanks for the guide

why do you want a flashable zip?? go on and flash firmware..
No issues with different netcards? I see in P8lite thread about LineageOS ROM that this ROM can't work on Che2-L11 because of the different netcards. But is tested Y6ll ROM on my Che2, and is runs fine, like on P8lite. Confusing....
@Iceman66 that only applies to custom roms, not for emui roms (i'm using a p8 lite rom atm)
for custom roms, they are incompatible (except if someone ports in, but on 4X sub forum nobody cares for the che2 version, only for the che1 version, so we have no devs)
Thanks, maybe there are no devs with a Che2 device ...... Haky had a honor 4c.
Good job, I'm trying to returen to stock EMUI 4.1 from CM12.1.

Hello,
I installed CAM-L21 B141 today... I have few questions...
1. how to move apps to sd card?
2. how to enable otg?
3. double tap to wake feature.
4. how to remove 4G option from network settings and from navigation bar and from preferred network type?
To be honest I have to say This is one of the great work ever done for this device! +1 ?
Thanks in advance.

Well you all would have already know that-↓

And yes I how did I manage to install it?
I was getting error 7 and error 6 then I opened the "update script" file into the rom and deleted all asserts coding and even then it did not work. So after trying for 2 to 3 times it installed easily but was not booting up.

How did you finally manage to install the rom? Did you succeed? You did not write clearly. And where are the files located?
Wait for Oreo releases of the XDA Devs here instead of flashing untrusted stuff from the internet.
Z2 Plus is not officially supported by Lineage OS for now, so possibility of getting early builds is kind of unlikely, so please verify the source of the download once and refrain from flashing anything thats not released by our devs for now
I am new to XDA and That's why I was not permitted to add any external link to the rom (files) itself.
If I still can add external link so please tell me how to do it

calm yourself and just gently show patience.
the devs here on XDA are working on Oreo, check the Offical AEX thread, Davide stated that the next build is going to be Oreo.
I wouldn't flash any ROM without having the ability to see the source code atleast. The site you found the ROM at does not look legitime to me at all.
Who knows what it will do/did to your device.

Need Help Rooting (solved)

Hello XDA,
I have been using Samsung phones all my life , Rooted (odin) a lotta phones installed countless custom roms and finally i thought its time for pure android experience . I bought a moto g4 plus from a friend of mine and have been going through the g4 + forum for 2 days now . I have not got the slightest of idea how you root / install custom rom on this device . Its so different from how you do it on a Samsung device so finally I have decided to ask for your help .
Info I would like to share :
1.The boot loader is locked
2.The device is a XT1643
3. 3 GB / 32 GB
4. December 1 , 2017 security patch
5. NPJS25.93-14-13
6. There was a OTA update when I received the phone which I didn't update
As mentioned earlier It looks like I am a complete noob when it comes to this device and I would need all the possible help I can get .
If anybody would be kind enough to guide me through this initial learning phase I will be very grateful and would even share my whisky ( which I usually don't do )
If you need any more information please ask
Thanks and Regards

As mentioned above I have been searching the forum for almost 2 days before I thought of asking for help . I did go through the thread( that you have mentioned ) earlier today but it looks a bit old to me . The link on how to flash twrp comes back with a 404 error . The last few posts are helpful (as it deals with the same build) but again as am new to the particular device It would be helpful if someone could give me a noob friendly procedure . I am not here to break the rules just trying to learn without bricking my device
Thanks and Regards

Flashing TWRP:
>>> Flashing TWRP or Rooting will void your warranty. Please ask anything before doing, if your not fully confident on what to be done. <<<
Get the TWRP image file from http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...p-twrp-3-0-2-2-recovery-moto-g4-plus-t3386586
Next, get the adb and mfastboot from https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5jlU9JnLAZGbVU0UzJ3N3p4X2M/view?usp=sharing
Unzip the file and place the image file inside the extracted folder.
Reboot to Bootloader (power off, then press the power and volume down buttons simultaneously).
Open a new command prompt or terminal window and do the following:
Code:
mfastboot flash recovery twrp_*version*_athene.img
Rooting Device:

Sorry for being so short earlier. We have quite a few members here who constantly post issues without using the search function.
You can try to post I quoted above to flash TWRP. It's fairly straight forward.
Are you planning on flashing a Nougat ROM or are you going the adventurous route and flashing an Oreo ROM? The TWRP version mentioned in the quoted post should be fine for flashing Nougat and 32-bit based Oreo ROMs, but you'll need 64-bit TWRP for 64-bit Oreo ROMs.
Use this as a reference for 32-bit and 64-bit Oreo ROMs: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/oreo-roms-table-t3717226
64-bit TWRP: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mo...recovery-twrp-3-2-1-unofficial-touch-t3722206
Once you've flashed TWRP, you can either flash different versions through TWRP itself or through the Play Store app.
As far as ROMs, I'd recommend Official Lineage OS 14.1 for Nougat: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/development/rom-cyanogenmod-14-1-t3522101
And I'd recommend Official AICP 13.1 for Oreo: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mo...om-aicp-13-1-o-8-1-0-official-weekly-t3731269 (You'll need to download the 20180212 build since most recent builds either have a broken camera or won't boot.)
Any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.

@Ragarianok
I am going to try the Oreo builds as I have never got a chance to try it on my previous devices so I guess I will be using a 64bit version of twrp.
This is what am planning to do :
1. Unlock the bootloader
2. Flash an official version of TWRP
2.a Take a backup
3. Flash a custom kernel through twrp
4. Flash Super Su / Magisk
5. Flash a 64 bit version of twrp using TWRP
6. Flash a custom ROM
Please correct me if I am wrong
Thanks a lot for the detailed guide
Thanks and Regards

If you want 64bit Oreo roms it's a little bit different
1. Unlock the bootloader
2. Flash a 64 bit version of twrp
2.a Take a backup and safe it off your phone
3. Flash a Oreo 64bit custom ROM
3.a flash gapps package arm64 (8.0 or 8.1 depending on rom version)
4. Flash magisk 15.3
If you want to root the stock nougat rom steps 1-4 of your list are correct.

Not quite. You'll want to go in this order:
1. Unlock bootloader
2. Flash TWRP
3. Backup
4. Wipe (Wipe/Advanced Wipe; ART/Dalvik, System, Data, Cache)
5. Flash ROM
6. Flash Gapps
7. Reboot
8. Go through setup wizard and let everything settle for ~10 minutes
9. Boot into TWRP and flash SuperSU or Magisk (I would suggest Magisk), then flash kernel and reboot
You'll need to flash the unofficial 64-bit TWRP mentioned in my previous post to flash a 64-bit Oreo ROM, otherwise you'll get an error message when flashing ROM.
You'll also need to use unofficial Gapps since there aren't any official Gapps for 8.1 just yet. I'd recommend either mini or micro here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/unofficial-opengapps-8-1/files/arm64/20180225/
You should be able to flash the most recent Magisk located here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/beta-magisk-v13-0-0980cb6-t3618589
If you do flash a custom kernel, I'd highly suggest Frostbitten: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mo...s-frostbitten-kernel-moto-g4-g4-plus-t3649155

If it was an OTA update, it looks likely to be more the February 2018 security patch rather than the January 2018 patch.

That is true, however for our devices we have generally been issued the same security patch level regardless of region. It may be different builds for particular regions (e.g NPJS25.93-14-13 for India, Brazil and EU, and NPJ25.93-14.7-3 for US) but they are both the December 2017 security patch.
Regardless, we've still yet to see an OTA newer than December.

Evening ,
Thanks For all the support i finally rooted MY phone
But
I ran into a bit of a problem " Sim Cards Not Detecting "
This is What i did
1. Unlocked My bootloader
2. flashed twrp-3.1.1-athene_shreps
3. Took a backup of everything
4. flashed ElementalX-G4-2.00.zip
5. flashed Magisk 16.0
reboot : No sim cards detected
After which I flashed lineage-14.1-20180219-nightly-athene-signed.zip and the gapps provided
experienced the same error again .
uninstalled magisk and flashed the latest Super Su (V2.82) with no positive results
not sure what went wrong ...is there any way out of it ?

First, I'm a little confused about the fact that you flashed that version of TWRP instead of the one located here: https://dl.twrp.me/athene/
Second, I've never had that happen when flashing, so I'm not really sure what to recommend. If I had to guess, I would say the best route would be to restore your backup and see if the SIM is detected.
I have found at least one thread with a similar issue; might be worth a look: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/fix-sim-card-issue-t3751679
Let us know what happens.

I went through that before posting my question .. the paper does not help .
Is it okey if I flash the twrp that you have mentioned over the existing twrp?
Thanks and regards
DW
Edit : I have restored my backup but still the same issue.
Edit : flashed the official TWRP . still the same results
EDIT : After 3 hours + Countless reboots the issue solved on its own ... I am not sure what really happened.. lol
Thanks for the Support

In most cases is kinda a lottery to install successfully a treble ROM because of the Huawei encryption. Firstly I recommend to upgrade to the final and latest version of Oreo (B360) (using HuRUpdater) which is the final version and then flash this TWRP recovery:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/p10-lite/development/recovery-twrp-3-2-1-0-oreo-t3777582
Here you have 2 options: You can format /data and then factory reset after you flash the ROM OR flash back the stock recovery and wipe data from there. The later option works the best for most people.
If it's a system.img then you can flash it by fastboot and keep the original Huawei recovery and do a wipe from there.
Like I said it's kinda lottery so keep in mind to have the stock firmware handy if anything goes wrong.
thanks for the advice
i will have a play
the only thing i dont understand is that i thought the Treble ROMS should be device non specific and then ANY treble rom should work........... as the underpinning "drivers" (sorry im used to explaining my thinking in windows speak) are allready sorted and on another partition on the phone ready to go
If im missing somthing please can someone correct me or explain it better as although i can and have flashed all of the android devices i own my knowledge ends there with Android.
