I currently own a GS3, I do enjoy using it and it's been good to me so far, which is a first among Samsung devices. However, I'm currently entering into a career in law enforcement and I am going to need a reliable, dependable and above all... durable device. Most of Samsung's phones are made for show, and the GS3 is no exception. A buddy of mine in my academy has the old GZ'one Commando and he said it's survived almost everything at his last agency before he transferred to our current agency, and he mentioned that a 4G version was coming out but I can't find anything on it.
Anyway, I've owned several Motorola DROID devices and they've all been reliable, with the exception of the Bionic. What really interests me is the long battery life on the HD Maxx, especially if I need to use the GPS while responding to calls for service in different areas. I've always had good luck with Motorola's radios in the phones, especially being down in tunnels. The Razr models seem pretty tough, and as much as I like the GS3's screen, it's a little too big for me to use one-handed. I just don't want to get into a "use of force" situation on the street with a suspect and my GS3 falls to the ground and shatters, which is common from what I've heard. Also, comparing the sizes, the HD Maxx is smaller in almost every dimension except for thickness, which is fine with me knowing it has that huge battery.
However, I would be sacrificing a beautiful screen and 2GB of RAM, as well as an unlocked bootloader. Honestly, other than the warm tone of the Razr HD's screen, I still like the screen on it, and I'm sure the RAM isn't a big deal as I don't run a bunch of things at one time. The unlocked bootloader isn't a huge deal, I've kind of grown out of the heavy customization of my devices... as long as I have it running reliably and it's pretty fast, I'm happy.
So, what's your honest opinion about the Razr HD and/or HD Maxx? Is it worth the "downgrade" from the GS3 and is it as tough as it's advertised to be? Any major faults other than the camera quality?
I love my Maxx HD. The battery life is unbelievably long. Full charge to dead, using GPS, Pandora, a few others and the screen at 50% brightness... it last better than a full day. Durable is about a 7 out of 10 and if you want to raise that to a 9, get an Otter Box for it. Not real happy with the GPS it has, if you use the preloaded GPS apps you s/b fine but any custom ones like Waze have a difficult time connecting or staying connected to the GPS even with the suggestions of turning off wifi or the Google location services. Over all, its one of the best and durable phns I have had. I would like to see a 4g version of the Commando with a batt life like this has. Good luck.

I would hardly call it a downgrade. I've have to lucky opportunity to get to play with many phones, including the SGIII that being said the Maxx HD is by far the most solid built phone I used and no plans on ever getting rid of it anytime soon. Some people get caught up in stats and and how awesome the phone looks etc. The Maxx HD feels right, not a 17" monitor in my hand trying to compensate for my short comings. This phone is snappy with nova launcher installed. I hear some frustration about the GPS but I've yet to have any issues with it what so ever.
I use this phone non stop at work and I work 12 hour shifts and come home with 40%+. With all that being said, I was in law enforcement for 10 years and never once dropped a phone nor radio, those that do are just not aware of there devices and how to properly protect them as they would there weapon or any of there gear for that matter.
I'm really looking at picking up a Maxx as well. I currently have a Nexus 4 but I have the opportunity to get a Verizon phone through work (and let's face it, AT&T and T-Mobile in my are have fairly bad service). I've been eyeballing the Maxx for a while and despite really liking my Nexus 4 I think the network and battery life overall will make up for the shortcomings with the locked bootloader and battery life.
The other option would be an SGS 3 on Verizon (I'd be installing an AOSP based ROM). Other than the network though I don't think the phone offers anything valuable over the Nexus 4 and would seem like a downgrade.

Well I bit the bullet yesterday afternoon and got the Maxx HD. Unfortunately, my experience has already been poor. The first phone had major network connection issues, to the point where it would cut all signal during the middle of a phone call. After sitting at the Verizon store for over an hour and testing two more SIM cards, they replaced the phone. Now, this second one has a distinct yellowish tint and it's super slow. Not only that, the earpiece is not loud at all on the highest setting and that's a no-go, especially in the areas where I'll be working, and my S3 for some reason still gets a better data connectoin. So it looks like the Maxx is a no-go for me, back to the GS3. Very disappointed with Motorola in the past year and a half with the Bionic and the Razr models.
I also wanted a great battery experience but the phone is not working in India . It is blocked for some reasons

That's unfortunate. I don't experience any of those problems you listed. Maybe you got 2 bad ones? Long shot but still.

Sry to hear that. I love Moto and IDK what was wrong with Ur Bionic but last year in July when I got ICS on it, it became a beast. Over clocked and really turned out to be a awesome phone. What hurt the Bionic was the software issues in the beginning of its life that turned a lot of people away. I still have mine and its solid.

Man, I'm so up in the air. I was in love with the DNA until I realized no SD and moderate battery life. I spend a lot of time in the woods and need a solid battery.
I was ready to buy the Maxx but then Verizon doesn't sell it anymore. I guess I can go to Wal-Mart. They still sell the Maxx HD. I haven't had a Moto since my old flip phone. Seems like everything has its compromises. Hope your experience improves.

Try Best Buy. 2 weeks ago wife and I got some Maxx HD's at Best Buy and they had the regular Maxx there. Best Buy also price matched Amazon Wireless, so we got them for $160 each (with re upping on the contract). Maxx HD is awesome phone. Snappy, nice screen, I think I preferred my DX screen to this amoled one, and the battery life is phenomenal. It's almost like having battery life on the old not smart phone. what would kill my DX in one day goes 3 days on this beast. My wife is not a power user by any means and she can get 4 almost 5 days on hers.
Looks like the Moto X may be a keeper with a 5.2" screen.

Same about the battery, big concern if this thing cant last a whole day. Should be at least a 2700mAh battery with a screen over 5 inches. Unless moto made some big changes to background software for the battery (and the L preview's project volte being a battery saver), I might just wait and see.
No . I currently own the LG G2 (having had a Moto X 2013 before). I liked how compact the old moto x was and have been disappointed with this year's flagships (HTC, LG, Samsung) for going larger but not superpowered relative to the LG G2 and Nexus 5.
The X2 is bigger in every dimension compared to the G2 (and I found that 2.8" width was my breaking point where I no longer like holding phones... why I downgraded from the LG G3 to LG G2) with a smaller battery and similiar power. The AMOLED screen will be great for battery life with notifications. The software updates seem really good and leave me more confident that post-Google Motorola won't fall off a cliff. The speakers aren't my thing. The additional mics aren't either (as I never leave my phone far from me in a crowded room. The camera looks very good as it seems like they fixed a weak area of
I think I'll be targeting slightly smaller phones for now (in the pre-SD805 days). On my fall list are the Galaxy Alpha, Sony's Z3 Compact and the Xioami Mi4.
i'm very interested in seeing the actual performance of this phone. i have high hopes for the camera and additional functionality they're claiming. all-in-all i'll have to hold it before i make my decision.
Currently a Note 2 user, I was pleased to see the size increase on the Moto X. I'm concerned abotu the battery, though. Right now I'm torn between the Note 4, LG G3, Moto X, and Nexus 6/X.

According to Joshua from Anandtech even though the Moto X is the same in dimensions to the S5, the Moto X is still much easier to use with one hand because of its design and is similar to use with one hand to LG G2. So you should give it a try, maybe you'll like the size.

Very disappointed to see the increased size, though it was inevitable.. I have been looking forward to this phone for months because of the innovation and engineering that went into the original moto x. Using separate processing elements for different parts of the phone is, I think, the absolute key to the battery life/functionality equation. I've been waiting for a company to split the UI and external features (screen, mics, cameras, etc..) off from the core phone functionality to save juice for a long time. When the screen is off, there should be little need to run the main processor, and therefore it should be kinder to its battery. I do need to know if this unit will have a replaceable battery, unfortunately its a complete no-go for me if it doesn't..

I was thinking about replacing my rooted GS4 with this one but I wonder whats coming down the pipe from the Nexus and LG

I like the size increase. I would rather it stayed at 5 inch screen instead of 5.2 but the battery size should have been bumped to 2600. Even if they are going to release a Moto Maxx version with a 3000 battery. Not sure if I will get this now or wait until the Nexus X before I ditch my VZW unlimited for greener pastures.

I'll probably wait to see what the next nexus phone is and then make a decision. Hopefully by then, there will be more clarification on what the Moto maXx is . I'd really like a 2014 Moto X with a larger capacity battery. For me that's the only thing it's really missing.
I don't get the battery size concern. I've never once worried about my moto x's battery running out by the end of the day. Motorola knows what they are doing.
the new X is a good 1-2mm thinner than the old one at the edges. i'd say there's room for a 4000mAh battery.

Way too big for my taste, and I've become a big Moto fan since owning the X. What ever happened to all that research done to come up with the original X being the perfect size? Hope they do a blow out sale on the original X and I'll pick up a spare if the price is good. I understand the trend towards bigger phones, but all the Android manufacturers leaving behind high spec more compact models is VERY disappointing.

1)screen size should not be greater than 5.5 inches (not even 5.6)
2)price should be equal to or less than Rs.25000( about $380)
3) decent battery backup
4) should not lag at all and should be smooth to use

i was crazy about oneplus 2 initially but i see a lot of negative reviews . i saw a video of speedtest between oneplus 2 vs moto x play in which moto x play beats oneplus 2 easily (i am shocked and confused after watching this)

Most of the problems with oneplus 2 are software related and can be fixed. If oneplus wants to, we can have a beast phone. I would personally go for op2 again because of the looks and ability to flash ROMs without losing warranty but I don't blame you if you go for moto x.
Good answer. Went for one plus 2 just because of the development aspect and the great camera, mixed reviews, but I've loved it so far. Feels like bit of a gamble waiting for one plus to get the software optimised with the hardware, will they get there? If they don't someone else will though and I think, if you like things a bit rough round the edges with lots of potential for tweaking etc. Go 4 opt

The play is on a completely different level than the oneplus 2. Even though the oneplus 2 is currently buggy due to poorly optimized software and a flaky cpu, it'll run circles around the moto x play. The play is using a modified version of the CPU in the galaxy s4 and HTC one M7. It's old, it's slow, the GPU is trash, and apparently has the same overheating issues the snapdragon 810 and 808 have. Now, the pure, on the other hand, can definitely keep up with the oneplus 2. I owned both the Moto x pure and the oneplus 2 at the same time and ended up returning the moto x, despite the fact that it was better in every measurable way than the oneplus 2 because it was uncomfortable to hold. The screen was a bit too big and the phone was a bit too wide and too thin and too slippery for my tastes. I dropped it several times during my time with it and just really was not a comfortable phone to hold. But to each their own, totally could have gone the other way, too, both good phones! (Well, ok, the oneplus 2 isn't good yet, but there's potential).
Honestly, if you want the best phone for that kind of money, get the oneplus one and don't even think twice about it. It's far better than the moto x play and the oneplus 2.

But i heard the complete opposite that if you dont have oneplus one then go for OP2 not oneplus one. Another question - If i buy OP2 and root it with other roms/Add kernels then will it void the warranty?
I like my OPT more and more every day. I'm a huge Motorola X guy but opted with OPT. I still own the Motorola X 2014 and Nexus 6.
One Plus 2 has huge potential but it may take a bit of time to get there.
The last update (2.1) has improved things and Android M hopefully will help too.
To be fair, I haven't had any issues with my phone. Screen is nice, fingerprint scanner works flawlessly (better than my Note 5), battery life has been good and overheating a non-issue for me. The camera is great.
Honestly, you can't go wrong with either phone.

I currently have a Moto X Pure and I LOVE it.... I've had it for about 3 weeks - but I just received my OP2 invite last week and went ahead and pulled the trigger and it should be here Monday or Tuesday.....But now, I'm not sure which one I want to keep?!?!
I can refuse the OP2 and get a refund, or sell it to my local/popular "used cell phone" re-seller for probably what I paid for it (or CL for a little more). Or I can keep it and sell the Moto X Pure for probably a little less than what I paid since it's been used for a few weeks.
The ONLY thing that has been the constant deal breaker is the front speakers on the Moto X Pure. I play in a band and watch a lot of YouTube videos to learn new songs and watch movies when I'm "on the road". The front facing speakers is, and has been since my HTC One M7, a big deal for me. How is the OP2 speaker? Is it better than the Galalxy S6?
Also, since owning the MXP, I've really become accustomed to the motion and sensors the MXP offers.... Just wave your hand over the phone to see any notifications or just touch the notification to see more detail (much more than just active display).
Things I REALLY miss... Notification lights. I'm constantly waving my hand over my phone to see if I've missed any calls or text. I had a Galaxy S6 for a little while and really liked the finger print scanner.

Camera - I need a good camera and both seem pretty "on par" with each other.
Custom ROMs - I'm sure the MXP will have plenty soon and the OP2 already has several
A few other concerns.. The MXP's battery life is just OK, not as good as my M8 was but about the same as my M9 (which isn't the best). It is better than the S6..... But I wish it was better. How is the OP2's battery?
USB C - I currently have about 6 or 7 actually active micro USB cables between home, my car, work and my computer bag that get used regularly... Plus my son and I share these chargers when on trips. USB C is the way we're all headed, but i'm not sure I'm ready to shell out $10-15 per cable just yet.
So.....Any input from someone that has owed both would be very helpful.

Battery (this is the best with this phone, easy 6-7h SoT) With the oneplus i get 4h SoT with the same use.

Camera in daylight. Inside in poor light it's pretty bad.
Well, thats it... The oneplus is heavier but i like it, it feels more premium. I love the feeling with my kevlar back.
The Play lags alot, but it's software probs so it will most likely be fixed soon.

Day 3 with my OP2 after sending back my Moto X Pure.....
What I miss about the Moto X Pure:
The great front facing speakers....Biggest complaint on the OP2 is thin sounding speakers
The Moto Gestures and always on listening (even with screen off)
Fast charging of the Moto X Pure....I'd come home from work at 60%, plug it in while I took a shower and change clothes.... 25 minutes later 100%
Daylight picture taking
The speakers (I had to say that one twice, it sounds so good).
What I like better about OnePlus2:
Battery life.... The OP2 gets 3.5 to 4 hrs of SOT... Moto X Pure (not the play), got 3 on a good day and never seen more.
Double tap to wake
Off-screen buttons (like on Samsung)
Notification lights! Probably my biggest complaint with my Moto, I missed the notifications LED.
Feels like a more premium build
Over-all picture taking - Not quite as good in nice light, but better in every other situation.
Fingerprint scanner, even though I don't use it, is quick....
More accessories that actually FIT.

FYI: I sent my Moto X Pure back because it has a few QC issues and I pre-ordered a Nexus 6P. If the OP2 had front speakers, I'd just keep it instead.... Really wish it did.
Imo, both phones are different takes on the same goal. For me it came down to the cpu/screen tradeoff as its clear both phones will have thriving dev communities (cm is really coming along for the pure now in month 1 of release).
The 810 in the OPT was just too hot and the screen just too bland. The 808 and qhd screen of the MXP have been a much more enjoyable experience for me.
I recently purchased a Moto X Pure, and within 4 days knew I made the wrong decision. I'll list below the reasons I returned the Moto X Pure and why I'm buying the nexus 5x.
Why I'm return the Pure Garbage™:
•Lcd Lights- Distorts screen at night. Very obvious placement.
•Battery Life-poor. Gets too hot to use while charging (my next point)
•Heat- gets VERY hot with normal usage. Can't use while charging.
•Camera- 21mp? I get the same quality with my daughter's Nintendo DS..
•Weight- uncomfortably heavy + sweaty hand from heat + Rubber Back = disaster waiting to happen
•THICK..Call it a BBC. (Big Bulky Cellphone! Get your mind or the gutter!!)
Why I chose the Nexus 5x:
•Camera - 9mp less but 100x better. Laser autofocus.
•Screen - Both LCD, but after countless viewing reviews, the lights aren't eyesores.
•Fingerprint- so convenient!!
•Accessories- Nexus has a much larger following. Last 3 Motorola's were hard to find cases for.
•Updates- for obvious reasons
•BOOTLOADER- IMPORTANT!! If you had plans on getting to the Moto X Pure and unlocking it, you're sacrificing your warranty to do so. Google allows you to unlock your phone and keep your warranty.
What I lost out on in the switch:
- Removable memory - 32g is plenty. I have 128gb card in my G3 that doesn't get used
- 5.7 inch display - Too damn big anyways. The LG G3's 5.5" is pushing my upper limit as far as screens go. Learned on the Moto that 5.7" is a two hand phone, unless you have ogre hands.

That was one of the phones I was looking at as an upgrade from my first gen Moto X. The big factors for me were an unlockable bootloader, vanilla android, regular updates, and the ability to use any carrier. I was hoping for a 5" phone at the most, but 5.2" is okay so far. I don't think I could get used to a 5.7".
I wasn't expecting to care about the fingerprint sensor, but now that I have it, I love it! Was concerned about battery life, but no problem at all getting through the day so far.
The active display (whatever they call it) stinks on this compared to the X. Not a big deal, though, as I have a Pebble, and it's so quick to unlock.
I'm a huge fan of moto, having had the last two moto Xs. I could deal with the garbage cameras because it was nearly pure Google, the size was manageable, customization is boss, and it felt like a quality phone that didn't need a case to be sturdy as hell. The size of the nexus 6 and 6p is what deterred me from them. The 5x is a nice phone with some awesome features and decent battery life but the performance on my 2014 was better (subjectively) and I feel like I'm holding a phone that will break if it falls off the table. I've never felt the need to put a case on my motos unless I was going to the bar or camping, but this guy might need one 24/7
Came from a 2014 X PE as well. I would still be using it if it weren't for FI network. It's a shame that it doesn't work on it.
As far as the camera, the X got a bad rap. I had that thing taking some good shots. Never a complaint from me.
The display blows the Nexus 5x out of the water. So vibrant, punchy and draws your attention. So far everyone that's checked out my 5x immediately commented on how the display was grey, washed out compared to the moto X.
Moto X seemed faster at nearly every task compared to the 5x. This thing stutters all over the place. Moto has some really awesome features that once you use and lose, you miss...a LOT. attentive display, active notifications, chop flashlight, quiet time...moto really nailed it on the head.
Alas, I'll be keeping it. I went back to Nexus for FI, the battery is slightly better than the moto X which randomly shut off with anywhere from 8-20% still supposedly left.
Still love Nexus devices though, its a fun serviceable device.
OP is so incredibly biased in not even going to counter it. Mxpe is a wonderful device.

The camera on moto still sucks big time in moderate to low light.. That was a bummer for m.. Otherwise it's a gr8 phone

I sat on the edge about the pure for a while. A few big things just glared at me.
First, The physical appearance of the pure just didn't match the 5x. It looked chunky and the front flash was just gross.
Second, although the pure will probably get updates fine, the 5x will undeniably be the leader of the curve.
Thank you for making me more comfortable in my decision, the SD card reader was hard to give up for those easy onsite backups and space for a mini rom archive, but I think I can handle the 32GB restriction, especially since T-Mobile allows free unlimited lte play music now.
I used solely Nexus devices from June 2012-March 2015. When I shattered the screen on my N5 I chose a Moto X 2014 Pure due to the size of N6. I actually ended up really liking the Moto, and probably would have went with the 2015 Pure if it hadn't grown to 5.7. As is I went N5X simply due to size. I do miss a couple features of the Moto, but overall am happy with the Nexus. Fingerprint sensor ended up being very convenient, I originally didn't care, but now don't want to give that single feature up.
And I really hate delays in updates, after using Nexus for so long, it was really frustrating waiting for my year newer Moto to update weeks after my original N5 had already received the update with its shattered screen and all.
I was selecting between the MXPE and the 5X, and chose the 5X because:
No Motomaker in Canada (would've purchased from the US though, knew exactly what colours/options I wanted )
MXPE not available in Canada (would've purchased from the US though)
It's too big, and heavy - as is the 6P (MotoX 2013 was the perfect size, MotoX 2014 was reasonable)
Due to their recent behaviour, I no longer trust Motorola to release timely OS updates (hopefully Motorola proves these fears to be false)
Unlocking MXPE bootloader voids warranty
No device can match the kind of support (both official and third-party) that a Nexus device will receive
I really wanted to get the MotoX this year, but the 5X was the better choice for me, by far. I love the feel and industrial design of the 5X (the top and bottom bezels are definitely larger than they ought to be though), I'm getting great battery life, the camera is excellent & fast, and I know I'll be able to get updates from Google for at least two years, and quite possibly beyond.
I've got a four year old Galaxy Nexus flying on Lollipop (with stable Marshmallow on the way!) thanks to the development community. Specifically Ziyan in this case. Not that I plan on using the 5X four years from now.
Coming from MX 2014 Pure (Germany):
- hated delayed Lollipop update (we got it 2 months after the USA)
- battery was subpar
- camera was **** especially in low light conditions
+ cool moto features but almost all of them are now incorporated into M
+ size was perfect
+ moto maker
The smoothness of 5X is much better than on MX 2014 PE. Battery is holding much longer.
I was considering MX2015 but:
- no fingerprint scanner (motorola got screwed in 2014 by apple buying that fingerprint company but for the 2015 models there is no excuse not to have it!)
- too big
- unlocking voids warranty (at least in 2014 model I could flash custom rom and here I don't want to wait for the "official" M update because it will most probably come much later)
I was considering a Motorola phone and even recommended the Moto G to people who asked, but with the acquisition by Lenovo and the abandonment of the Moto E after promising updates, I can no longer consider or recommend Motorola phones. I am pretty sure it will only get worse as time goes on and Motorola becomes even less Google and more Lenovo. I heard they were laying tons of people off.
Plus being able to unlock and relock the bootloader on the Nexus 5X and still having warranty pushed me over the edge. Also guaranteed updates for two years, and a great developer scene is likely.
Moto x is a phablet just like the nexus 6. I didn't want a phablet so I didn't consider the moto x.

Agree 100%. My last two phones were Motos, and they would have been my first choice for a new one, but I was suspicious after the sale to Lenovo and the recent debacle around their updates sealed the deal for me. To my knowledge Moto still has not articulated a firm policy regarding software updates and security patches going forward (it's possible I missed something, though, since I stopped paying attention once I pre-ordered the 5X).
The Moto E situation was particularly egregious. I know that if you read the fine print they probably complied with the letter of their advertising but the fact is that they tried to sell people on the idea of being the OEM to go to for updates and they completely violated the spirit (perhaps not the letter) of that advertising by providing only one incremental update and then dropping it.
Moto X Style definitely has a better screen than the 5X, also the video was a lot more stabilized than the 5X. Moto X Style has 2 front facing, loud, clear speaker, where the 5X only has one

How am I biased when I bought the Motorola first?
The Motorola had it goods, but the bad outweighed it.
I was sooo close to ordering the MXPE. I literally had my customized, Moto Maker'd device in the cart ready to check out when i started looking more into the 5x. Which from spec release until about 2 weeks ago I'd written off as my next device.
Then I spent some time researching and reading and researching, finally deciding on the 5x. Couldn't be happier. I've never had the MXP in my hands, but I'm in love with my Nexus, and the eventual development will be the cherry on top.
The size and weight of this thing is near perfect. The screen and speaker and sound on earbuds are nowhere near as bad as some may have made it seem.
I literally have 3 gripes about this phone. One major and 2 minor that aren't that big of a deal and I am already over.
1. No SD card. Pretty obvious.
2. 3.5mm jack is on the bottom. No big deal.
3. Bezels take up too much screen space, especially on the sides.
Honestly 2 and 3 never crossed my mind as a deal breaker. And no SD card I can live with, just need to steam my music instead of store it.
Sorry for the long rant, I just wanted to share I was on the fence between these two phones and couldn't be happier that I chose the Nexus.

The biggest reason is phone size. I wasn't interested in a large phone.
A second reason is that I don't really trust Moto anymore after my experience with a carrier Moto X 2014. Their builds were buggy and their update frequency and availability tapers off quickly over time.

I've had my turbo for about 5 months now. Bought it from a friend for 120 . orange ballistic nylon edition. I recently had the new phone bug bite me. So I started searching for a new device.. Note 5, nexus 6 and 6p, lg g4, lg v10, iPhone 6s ,s7 , been looking for something new.. Truth is last night I was on my way to buy s7 edge and turned around and went home . why should I ditch this turbo now?.. With cm13 I'm extremely happy at the performance and battery life. So no new phone for me for a while .. Anyone felt the same way?
I would consider leaving this phone for the moto nexus 6. And the only reason is for massive development. Other than that. No I would not trade it off.

The Quark is almost perfect combination of size and specs. The only phone absolutely better right now would be the Samsung Galaxy S7, if you could unlock bootloader and fully root.
The 2014 6" Moto Nexus 6 was just too big. Even Google realized that and made the 2015 Nexus 6P smaller. But I don't want a phablet even 5.7". (I also want Qi wireless charging, which this year's Nexus phones do NOT have.)
And I want a top tier phone with 1440p and at least 3GB RAM. So, that leaves out the mid-tier Nexus 5X with 1080p and 2GB RAM. Google should realize we want a reasonable size phone (5.1" - 5.3") with TOP TIER SPECS. If Google made a Nexus phone like this:

5.2", 1440p AMOLED display
at least 3GB RAM
at least 64GB internal memory
turbo charging
Qi wireless charging
large battery
stereo speakers

Yeah, the Quark no longer has current Snapdragon, but the Snapdragon 805 is still fast enough -- plus the other features I can't find all in one phone.
The only thing Motorola could have done better with the Quark is give us the rear camera OIS and stereo speakers the Moto Nexus 6 had. For the price they charged ($700 for the XT1225), I don't know why they left that off. I still bought two at that price, for me and my wife. I later bought a third XT1225 to have a backup, but the price had dropped to almost half by then.
If Motorola had remedied that shortcoming with Quark successor Kinzie (2015 Droid Turbo 2, Moto X Force), I would have upgraded to those phones. But they didn't.
This is the first phone I'm keeping for at least two full years. Amazing.

Have you had any cell connection issues with CM13? I had them with 12.1. Ended up having to use Verizon's repair tool to get cell service back.

I actually moved from the Nexus 6 to the Droid Turbo don't get me wrong I love the Nexus 6 but at the end of the day the turbo fits better in my hand even though I have large hands and could manage the nexus 6 but I still prefer the turbo size any day... and far as development goes really now a days all are pretty much the same with minor tweaks when I had my Nexus it seems like I was flashing a new ROM every 3 days but nothing really ever changed so I decided to stick with the pure Nexus ROM and that was really close to stock and after everything is said and done I just want something that I can tweak and works like cm13 for my turbo

No service issue here everything has been stable except no volte which was expected
Unless skrilax keeps this device longer than the average user, my guess is the nexus six will far outlive our device. Don't get me wrong I like this size too but the reality is nexus in Dev life is typically > than others.

I gave my wife my gray/orange ballistic nylon Turbo last fall and got a G3. I enjoyed that phone for a while but ended up getting another Turbo this time in black kevlar. Wish I could get my orange one back but the wifey isn't giving it up. Not sure what's next on my list, maybe the new HTC 10.

One thing on the wish list, which I went back and added was "large" battery. When owning the gen3 Galaxy Nexus and gen5 Nexus 5, the one thing I HATED was the puny batteries Google put into those phones!
I find it hilarious the 5.2" Moto Quark has a BIGGER battery than the 6" Moto Nexus 6 (Shamu). 3900 mAh vs 3200 mAh. I appreciate Motorola put a large battery into this phone, whereas last year for the Samsung Galaxy S6 that manufacturer went SMALLER than the S5. It was a huge mistake, and for the S7 they increased the battery size. Consumers are NOT demanding smaller batteries!

There are basically two Motorola Quark devices (two different FCC IDs), sold under three model names: Droid Turbo, Moto Turbo, Moto Maxx. All have the same hardware, but different radios. The Motorola Quark was basically the Moto Nexus 6 (Shamu) in a 5.2" size. In fact, as late as mid-August 2014, Google/Motorola was testing a 5.2" Shamu variant. We saw the leaked benchmarks... But Google decided on the 6" whale, which was a mistake. I bought the Quark instead.

Motorola obviously re-purposed the 5.2" "Shamu" variant as the "Quark" -- Droid Turbo/Moto Maxx, changed the camera and gave it a BIGGER battery. Still, a lot of the hardware specs remains the same as the Nexus 6.

I've enjoyed my Turbo so far. Bought a new 32 GB (they didn't list a 64 GB version) black ballistic nylon version in November, to replace my Droid RAZR M as my daily driver.
Five months in, I still haven't flashed CM to it, but I gladly paid for Sunshine and unlocked the bootloader a couple of weeks after the beta release. So I'm still sitting on stock Lollipop, rooted and with a tethering "bypass".
I continue to enjoy the phone, and using it side-by-side with my RAZR M (which is now a WiFi-only device that gets used primarily as a music player) really shows how much of a beast the Turbo is. The RAZR M still runs out of power after ~2 hours of SoT, while the Turbo is still kickin' with similar usage; and, of course, the Snapdragon 805 and 3GB of RAM absolutely beats the pants off of a Snapdragon S4 with 1 GB to its name.
My only regret about the phone is that I wish it had a microSD slot, so that I wouldn't need to rely on my RAZR M (or a better LTE plan) to carry around my music.

There's two Marshmallow custom ROMs for this phone, CM13 and Resurrection Remix.
If you mean stock Motorola Marshmallow, there was soak test in Brazil for the XT1225 Quark. Presumably it's still going on? But that's a LONG soak test. Or Lenovo/Motorola is waiting for Verizon to sign off on the XT1254 update before releasing Marshmallow for all Quarks.

thanks for the reply friend. Thing is i am waiting for the stock rom. since most of the mid range phones of motorola got the new update, i feel pity to use a beast like moto turbo with lollipop.

My Droid Incredible and M7 were by far my best phones. Great design and even better developer support. Hell, I'd still be rocking my M7 if the cameras and battery life was just a bit better.

If only the HTC 10 had Qi wireless -- which it can't with the metal body. It did catch my interest for a few minutes, however.

HTC went on record saying that “certain models may not be unlockable due to operator restrictions.” So if you want the Verizon model, there's a 99.999999% chance the bootloader will be locked. Hopefully there will be a local carrier XT1250-esque case that can get around this. It is a sweet looking phone though. If Sense wasn't so ugly, I might consider it, but I'm in no hurry to drop my Turbo.
Edit: It looks like the home screen has a fairly stock-ish layout. Interesting...will HTC become the new Motorola?

They do support Qi. My sister has an S6.
But for both the LG G5 not having Qi and the HTC 10 not having Qi, the reason stated was due to the all metal bodies. I don't know how Samsung does it.

Samsung gs6 and gs7 have glass backs with metal bands around the body. Qi works fine thru glass.
