G-sensor\accelerometer\tilt sensor calibration - problem!

Just got me Nexus one today, love it, however, has anyone else noticed a problem with the calibration of the G-sensor\accelerometer\tilt sensor?
I ran the Layar application and noticed the horizon was not straight. I then downloaded some bubble level apps and they have the same problem. You can calibrate the sensor in the bubble app and then it works fine, however this calibration is only for that specific app.
I tried the speedforce 3d game and the ship drives to the left when the phone is level.
this is very annoying!!
Does anyone know how to calibrate the sensor so it is calibrated for all apps? Like you can do on windows mobile phones. I cant find the setting anywhere? arrgh
I've the same problem too.
Same here !!
Anyone one looking into a fix?

Same with me.. the touch screen position will offset. I have to lock my phone bring it up again to correct the issue.
You can vote for this issue (G-sensor out of calibration and offers no calibration utility) over in the Android issues list here:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=4017
Just log in with your Google ID and click on the star to vote for it. With only 5 star votes currently it is near the bottom of the list of bugs to be addressed...

[Q] Camera orientation in apps is wrong!?!

Hi,
when I use the camera on the rear of the xoom in apps (wordshot, barcoo, wikitude) the picture is always turned by 90 degrees. Has anyone seen the same problem? Or maybe a solution for this?
Zusan
Is there really noone, who has the same problem? Or maybe any hint to solve this issue?
are you using the xoom in landscape mode when you do this? perhaps those apps code the camera to orient when the xoom is in portrait mode. just a guess.
you should also contact the dev to get it direct from the horses mouth so to speak.
Thank you for your reply. Because I had the same idea I started the app holding the xoom landscape and after that didnt work, I held the xoom in portrait while starting. Or is there another way to set the orientation?
A second thought was that there may be something wrong with the sensors of my xoom, because I have also strange behaviour in some apps:
- In "google sky map" turning the xoom from portrait to landscape without changing the position of the xoom, suddenly makes the north to the west.
- Wikitude doesnt show any icons for the places in the camera-mode anymore, which it did since a while ago. Maybe thats because of the newest version or maybe there is something wrong with the sensors so that wikitude cant place the icons correctly!?!
Just a guess, but I have no idea how to prove this.

Cardboard apps that don't need compass

Hi all,
I've purchased a Cardboard for a friend, however he has an Android phone (quite a new phone too, 1080p screen, but Chinese), which doesn't have a compass/gyroscope sensor. It does have an accelerometer though.
Does anyone know of any cardboard apps that work without a gyro/compass?
Thanks very much,
Shockfire.
I don't think so. However here is the list of some of the best VR and google cardboard apps You can verify it yourself. But chances are very less.
There are a lot of them
Try NOMone VR Browser. It's perfectly usable if you connect a mouse or use the mouse mode (press "Fn + D") in a bluetooth VR controller. Now you can have almost everything in normal web for you in VR

There aren't a lot of apps that don't require the compass. The best technique to find them out it test then

Excuse me, but are you talking about a gyroscope? If so, you can check out Xposed module that could replace the functionalities of a gyroscope.

CM 14.1 | NucleaRom | Google Cardboard

Hi there,
I'm using Google Cardboard quite a bit. In the latest NucleaRom (Nougat 7.1/CM 14.1) I have come across the following:
-- DPI is set to 420 via Nuclear Tweaks
-- in Google Cardboard, the view area is somehow scaled down to a fraction (full screen before, now it's about 1/4 of the screen) of what it used to be? => see as well the vid of somebody else with the same problem: http://youtu.be/UPJoNlolF0o
Anybody else had that problem and could fix it?
Many thanks in advance for any help/hints/suggestions
You must set it to 400 DPI.

Thank you for the answer, but that didn't do anything.
Can you please confirm, that it works on your device with NucleaRom 7.1?
Thank you

I had that same issue with cm14 and that seemed to do the trick, I hadn't tried cardboard yet so I didn't know about this issue and exactly the same has happened to me with Nuclear 7.1 . After using an app called vr calibration for cardboard and trying to calibrate it seemed that increasing screen to lens distance seemed to do the trick. Try it out and tell me how it works for you.
Edit: After editing the profile and trying it out with another app it is still the same so I guess it will stay like that whatsoever. We'll have to tell to Nuclear devs.

Well, in the mean time I went to https://vr.google.com/cardboard/viewerprofilegenerator/ and created my own 'viewer' by exaggerating the "Screen to lens distance" and the "Inter-lens distance". => Trial and Error

you want to use Google Chrome browser. Then, once called the above mentioned URL, you can "Save or Load Viewer Parameters". There you can paste following URL: http://google.com/cardboard/cfg?p=C...CAABIQgAASEIAAEhCWAE1KVwPPToICtcjPArXIzxQAGAA
Those are settings for the "Homido Mini" device (please keep in mind theyr'e counter compensating the screen resolution).
After pasting the settings URL, you need to click on the blue "Generate Profile" button. This will give you a DataMatix, that you need to scan via Cardboard as a new viewer (the same for Street View, btw.)
best regards

This one should work with Video.
Only HDR+ need some time till shutter and sometimes all other apps crash in the Background during processing of HDR+ / Portrait or Nightsight pictures.
As addition it's the only camera I know on Nokia 5 which captures videos in 4k...
Thanks for the answer. Unfortunately, this is not the right camera. For the one I remember, the labels were not changed, only the round element was of a different color. That one is the camera lens on the label.
Didn't works for me
