Unlocking bootloader - Xiaomi Redmi 3s Questions & Answers

Hey guys,
I want to know will there be any wipe when I unlock the bootloader like in other devices while unlocking bootloader device gets factory reset. Is it the same case with this device too?
I am asking for redmi 3s to be precise.
Regards

[Q] Locking Bootloader

Hei guys ! I have a question. I know that if you unlock your bootloader,
the device gets hard reset(most of the times). My question is: If i lock my bootloader back, will the hard reset happen again? I mean, does the locking/unlocking of the bootloader reset the phone?
Sorry if ti's a noob question..
As far as I know only when it gets unlocked then the device gets factory reset.
If you download the app TricksterMod and get the paid version you can lock and unlock the bootloader on the fly in the phone without having to use fastboot and no factory reset. Don't know of there is a free app that can do this as well.
Even if the bootloader is locked, if you have a custom recovery it is still possible to install kernels.

Bootloader unlock necessary?

Read some threads talked about un-boot risk without unlock bootloader. Is this necessary for 6p? Thanks

Can you please clarify exactly what you're asking? I believe having the bootloader unlocked is a must, even if you have no plans on flashing ROMs or anything like that. I'll tell you why. Unlocking the bootloader wipes the device. It's better for you to do this while you're in control and can backup your data first. If you have problems with your phone in future and need to flash the factory images to revive it, you'll need an unlocked bootloader. You might not have access to your data at this time to be able to back it up first. This means you'll be forced to unlock the bootloader and wipe all of your data. Sure, you'll have to live with a little warning each time your phone boots up, but that's much better than losing your data if something goes wrong.

I can't remember if relocking the bootloader wipes the device or not. I know unlocking it does, but I want to relocking for android pay and don't want to be shocked if it wipes the data.

It shouldn't wipe your data, but I think you would want a stock recovery if you do lock it.

Everything is stock, I just unlocked it to flash factory images. I'm not rooted or anything on this device. Just want to use Android pay again. With the Android beta program, u never know what things might not work so I keep it unlocked to be able to roll back to whatever I liked best. But darn android pay and bootloader anymore.....

I actually went to relocking it today, and it gives me a warning that it WILL wipe the device upon relocking the bootloader. I'm leaving it alone as I just got my pixel and unlocked that. I'll relocking it when I'm ready to sell this.

Hi. I gonna try to help you. So if you "deleted" the root, the bootloader should be still unlocked. If not, on my Phone unlocking Bootloader did not erase my Data (watch RootJunkie)
Have a nice day!
how ??

No he has made an p8 vid too (sry for late response)
Hi, in the comments of his video on the bootloader unlock he says that it does require a factory reset.
Is there another video where he talks about that?
Mohammad did you manage to unlock the bootloader without the reset?
thanks

I unlocked my bootloader. It did not reset my phone or erase data. However on nexus and htc phone once you unlock the bootloader the phone factory reset itself. This is not true for Huawei. However if you update your phone via SD card after the bootloader is unlocked your phone will factory reset itself.

Mi Unlock delete device data when applying for unlock in Mi Account?

It's basically what the title say, I know that Mi Unlock delete all the device data when unlocking the bootloader, but If you are locked and ask for authorization, Mi Unlock will delete the device data in any case or only when unlocking the bootloader?
I know it's probably a stupid question, but I didn't find the answer on the internet.
Clean all and lock
No, it doesn't, it does it only when the bootloader unlocks, like in any android.

But what you answered wasn't what OP asked.
By the way, applying for unlocking the device won't erase any data. The only time your data gets erased is when you succesfully unlock your bootloader. @CpDavid1408
