Is it possible to shoot Raw (DNG) ? - Huawei Nova/Nova Plus Questions & Answers

Can anyone test if its possible to shoot RAW with the Nova?
You can use the open camera apk (free) to test this.
And if it does shoot raw(dng files), could you upload the files?
Thanks!

I do not see any options for RAW in settings.

Did you try with the Open Camera app (or any other camera that enables dng capture)?

Yes, like you asked. I also tried AZ Camera but the phone does not support Camera 2 API.

Color Correction for RAW images

Hello,
After editing build.prop i was successfully able to capture raw images in 48bit however the colors doesn't seem to be matching even after post processing in lightroom/photoshop
the 10bit raw images (20mb file size )have quite better colors, is there any other way make the 48bit raw images (30mb filesize) look better ?
i have attached a compassion of the three.
What build.prop u changed ??

@dranzer006 How do you open raw images? I've done whatever I could but it won't open, all apps say it's a damaged image or sth like that,I've tried Photoshop, lightroom, windows default image viewer and many more..

I never had any problems opening raw. It's around 30mb if you are using camera2 api (48bit) and 20mb if taken in 10bit using freedcam.

in me rn3, while using freedcam, if camera 1 api, select 'dng' format, not jpeg or bayer, then edit with snapseed or lightroom

snap seed can't detect raw from RN3. but lightroom and ps works completely fine.

Looking for the P9 stock camera apk

I own the little brother, the P9 Lite and while it does support Camera2 API and thus RAW DNG capture, there is no way to enable this in the stock camera app.
While I know there are several 3rd party camera apps that allow RAW capture, having tried most of them, none even comes close to the stock camera app. They're either clunky to use, or they're ugly as sin (I'm looking at you Open Camera).
I even tried editing /system/emui/lite/prop/local.prop and set ro.build.hw_emui_lie.enable to false and although it did change some aspects of the UI (shades, notification drop down blur etc) there was no RAW capture option in the default camera app.
I guess what I'm asking is if there is a way to capture RAW DNG files on the P9 Lite using the stock camera app.
Thanks.
Try pro mode and look if you see raw in camera settings.
Wow... Why did I not think of this before?!
Changing ro.build.hw_emui_lite.enable to false and then going into pro photo mode, the RAW capture option is right there.
Excellent! Just what I wanted. Thanks.

Raw image supported or not on mi a1 ???

There are multiple versions of gcam in this thread. I use the one from the androidfilehost. There is an option in the app settings.
''HDR+ RAW+JPEG
Save raw DNG files when taking HDR+ images in addition to the standard JPG''
I tried capturing through Bacon Camera but it doesn't capture, and also by FreeDCam , It however captured Bayer file but it didn't work either as the Bayer file was not decoded
If anyone know it please let us know
It can be done with Snap Camera HDR I think, even without root. I would love to have a chance to shoot portrait mode in RAW with default app, but thats not gonna happen sadly.

RAW photo capture with ultra wide?

Hey all!
Just out of curiosity as the stock camera app only allow RAW photo capture with main camera lens.
Area there anyway to take RAW photo work the ultra wide lens? (Or even other lens equipped)
Cheers!
I tried the stock camera app and a few others.
RAW files only from the stock camera app and GCam 7.3.018 and ONLY from the main camera (IMX689).
I am not sure there will be any other RAW option from the other lenses. Which is shame.
Download and install the Camera2 Probe app and you'll be able to see which settings are available for each camera. If RAW isn't supported in the Camera2 Probe report, it's not available.
