shouldn't have done that...think the bootloader you removed is the android one, while the other one might be the bios.
here is a link to some rom with flashfiles....i can't tell you how to flash because all the instructions are in chinese. there are different flashfiles, which peform different ways of flashing the system, eg. without deleting data, or without updating the bootloader.
maybe it's 'flash_factory_update_pos_bootloader' - my guess it only updates the bootloader partitions...if it works and you have a bootloader again you could probably load recovery again and restore your system / data.
(you might use 'flash factory 1st stage' and ' flash factory 2nd stage' as well (i think those flash the whole system again, but I'm not sure. it's just a guess.)
hope you will manage it
look at the flash_guide.docx, it's in chinese but with google translator you can get some information about it.
to use the flash tool i think you must boot into dnx fastboot mode...hold 'volume up' + 'volume down' + 'power' to get into dnx mode (yes, pressing vol up and vol down at the same time works!)
maybe

not at the moment...
can you once more explain in detail what you did and how you ended up having no bootloader anymore.
i'm still trying to figure out how you were left with no bootloader (can you post a picture of that ?bios?).
i just want to know whether this is somehow related to the ported twrp. from my knowledge there's no way to wipe the bootloader or whatever.
thx in advance

Hi
First thanks I used Platform Flash Tool Lite downloaded from intel website and flash the file it complete 75% but then faild. However it started on logo screen where I immediately but it in dxn mode and booted twrp and it worked. Still WIP. I will update you of the outcome.
As for how it happened... as I mentioned earlier I wiped everything using twrp and selected advice option where you select cache, system, internal memory, etc...
And restore twrp earlier backup but I modified the backup data stored in my pc it had bootloader and bootloader1.. then I removed first bootloader and renamed bootloader1 to bootloader. During twrp restoration process, twrp read my backup and shown me the folders that will be restored, there I noticed that I succeeded on having only one bootloader and also unchecked the data folder and restored it. Where it ended on attached screen...

if you can access twrp again, just restore your backup as it is...all partitions without changing anything.
good luck. hope it works.
now people know how to get to the bios/bootmanager (maybe it helps for dual boot)
do you know what options there were, something like boot from sdcard/otg (usb) etc...?

Hi
There where two options
Android IA
EFI Hard Disk
As for my issue I was able to boot twrp and restore my backup..
But it seems I played around bios screen which ended up not showing bootloader or recover option even bios....
It's feel like something running but not showing in the scteen. Is there any way to reset bios or a stock rom to restore the device like out-of-box status....

I found out that it was running through HDMI output in the initial boot and it will not show in the tablet screen..
I did it again with bootloader modification and got the BOIS mode and connecting my tablet to LED TV through HDMI output I managed to reset the bios and got it back to normal (know boot showing in my tablet screen...)
When i flash the file you share and used flash/blank setting it will reach 80 to 85% but fail in bootloader flashing. then i used DXN mode and fastboot flash twrp recovery it will bring the main service options where I did factory reset then it will start loading with little screen corruption. however it will load perfectly after couple of reboots but without the Halo Keyboard. i could not find out how to enable it...
Then i used my TWRP backup and restore it where everything working fine....
My request is it possible to modify the flash-able file you send to load a perfect stock rom. it will help many people as it will be easy to use with Intel android flash tool...???

Thanks mmusaad and danjac, glad that you unbricked it.
Can I ask how does one flash it with Platform Flash Tool Lite? I failed to infer the meaning of 'setup your board' from intel's description:
> You have already set up your board and connected the board to your host system. This includes assembling your board, installing the appropriate drivers, and flashing your firmware.
(I'm trying to run or install Linux on yogabook, which I feel may brick it a few times.)
Also, do you think one can enter the BIOS setting or boot device selection without bricking it first?
thanks

Hi sagi232123,
I will explain it to you in detail.
I taken a full backup using twrp.
Then I notice two bootloaders.
First named bootloader. "note: I don't remember the full file name."
Second named bootloader1.
I removed bootloader.
Renamed bootloader1 to bootloader using my PC.
Then restored using twrp again, I restored it fully.
Here I was shocked when it load the bios.
Do it and it should do the same.

Factory Restore to Stock!!!

Is there a way to flash a factory image to the thrive using android recovery via pressing volume up and power button and selecting the middle option which takes you to the menu to install.zip from sd card, I get that far and it gives me an error (e verification failed) I do not have root or Clockwork, and cannot install either do to the system/xbin file being deleted so the tool has nowhere to instal the ROOT and it says File Location Does Not Exist when Trying to add the xbin files.
So Is there a "Signed" stock rom available that I can just install from the sd card via the "Stock Android Recovery"
If anybody has a signed stock android Toshiba Thrive Rom that I can restore to the device without ROOT or CLOCKWORK that would be awesome and I would be most greatfull!!!
No, there is no signed stock image available. You can flash the stock ROM, but you will need to flash ClockWorkMod recovery onto the device and load the stock image available on thisone.org or thatone.com.
Now the Clockwork Recover Mod and The Clockwork Recover Tool from marketplace are two separate entities as I understand it, so I can flash the recover mod without root correct? I'm going to give it a run and keep you posted.

The one on the market will not work with the Thrive. YOu will need to get my Easy Flash Tool from thisone.org or thatone.com. It hase a version of ClockWorkMod recovery that will work with the Thrive. YOu are correct that you do not need to eroot to install it. You do need to knoiw that you have to go back into recovery before the device boots or the ROM will replace the recovery with the stock version.
all back to stock and updated to the. 11 update, thanks so much

Need help with Toshibe Thrive
I have a Toshiba Thrive 10.1 (with 32GB RAM) that recently quit on me. All it will do for me now is boot up to the splash screen (the one saying it's a Toshiba and such) and then stops doing anything other than showing that screen. I've tried the data/factory reset option, but that doesn't change anything (it still boots to the same point and locks up). The factory reset ROM's I've tried all fail at "Verifying update package..." with the error "E:signature verification failed" followed by aborting... I've been able to fix computers since Win 3.1 (yeah, showing my age a bit) up until now with no real problems, but Android is a different animal... I've tried the "Thrive USB ADB" utility, Toshiba Easy Flash utility, and a few different factory reset ROM's... All have failed....
Also worth saying.... When trying the Easy Flash Tool and doing exactly as it says (except for not being able to tell the device to go into USB debugging mode), all the utility seems to do is sit and wait for my device.
What I may need is a step-by-step, get this file, do this thing, type of help...

There isn't one, it needs nvflashed back to stock, it will work provided there is no emmc damage/failure which does happen occasionally. There's only a few people with the Toshiba files to flash it back fresh, shoot me a pm and I'll help you out with that.

[Q] I bricked my tablet now it freezes at bootloader screen

So Today i just installed v8 ics bootloader on my acer a500 and i was very happy because after one month of trying auto way and failing i tried manual way and it worked
so i installed cwm then i wanted to install a rom
at the wipes i choose
Dalvik Cache
then i asked it to backup my first rom
so it went into the bootloader mode and after like 20 mins said that backup failed because of a reason i can't remember .
then it restarted and it just freezes at the bootloader screen .
and whenever i restart or anything just freezes at bootloader screen. :crying:
is there anything i could do to fix it ? even if it includes wiping all of my data?
I am new to android I know I probably just did something very stupid but we all do mistake and learn.
I suggest installing whatever rom you were planing on installing after your backup, that might fix your boot problem. I also suggest flashing and using TWRP recovery, Cwm would never backup my flexrom partition but TWRP always backs it up and i never have issues making a backup or restoring from a backup since using twrp. Use TWRP 1.7.- as some problems arise when using the 2.2- versions..
I used the afterota to install twrp over the cwm recovery but you might not need to.
Good luck and if i can help you i will if issues arise.
Please I am a noob can u tell me how to do that in very boring details ?
now after a little button pressing thanks to ur idea it gpt fixed.
thanks alot

ZTE Blade G Lux Bricked or System Read Only

Hi, I have an unusable Blade G Lux from ZTE. Yesterday it became to show the message "The application X stopped unexpectedly" this for all the applications installed. Then it start to reboot over and over again. I did not made any update or rooting process. I was listenning music.
So after 8 hours of research in the web, so far I tried to install the twrp recovery image with the SPFlash tools, the process show the successfull confirmation, but when I try to boot with the new image it load the Android System Recovery <3e> Interface. I tried already many roms, recovery images and it didn't work. Tried with adb sideloaded, factory reset from recovery menu and nothing works. With the Flashtool also made the auto format flash but still the same.
Then by a very good luck the system doesn't rebooted and I saw the internal storage, tried to remove some files but after unmounting the system and mounted again, the files that I deleted was there. So now i'm wondering if the system is in Read-Only mode and because of that i can't write anything and the factory reset also doesn't work. Since I can use the phone because it keeps rebooting I don't know what else to do. FSCK from linux didn't either.
Any help is appreciated.

Yup, yesterday did that but it failed at some point with the error: Symlink Failed, tried the same image in a working zte blade g lux and works like a charm. Also checked the update script from the room and the symlinks that is using are only to move bin commands so I guess the Phone is dead :crying: because nothing can write to the internal sd system is Read-Only or dead.
Any other hints appreciated.

For the same type. I started with only the recovery image and then downloaded the Stock ROM, and then one custom from one guy of youtube, and yours. But the main issue is that the phone never writes the new image nothing happens.

I ask you again!
Did you FORMAT with spflashtool the all flash before flashing the files?
If that doesnt work, dont know other way to restore the phone

I answer again: Yes, did it with the both options: Auto format Flash(whole flash & except bootloader). Still the same. Nothing is changing the phone. Neither the factory reset from recovery. It just blew after a song ends using VLC and then reboot & reboot. I did not installed any rooms or tried to root the phone before that, it was working fine and then this.

Stuck in recovery with no image to flash

First of all, I read this thread, but no luck.
Situation:
* I unlocked bootloader, installed TWRP 3.1.1-1 and flashed Freedom OS, succeding.
* Then I decided to try the Oreo open beta, but had a problem (error 7 flashing it), so I wanted to get back to Freedom OS
* After flashing Freedom OS again (with success) I rebooted but I was stuck at boot logo.
* I decided to flash again OOS 4.5.14, but I misclicked something and I found my self in TWRP with no ROM to flash on SDcard (I think I have checked also internal storage while wiping).
* PANIC!
So, 3 questions:
1) given that I want to stay encrypted (if still possible at this point) should I decrypt data or not at TWRP boot?
2) if I chose decrypt with the unlock code (read that I did) I have to go with decrypt or formatting is enough to keep crypt?
3) MORE IMPORTANT: how do I get a ROM to flash into the phone. Reeboting in TWRP sometimes I see the internal storage, but when I drop a firmware in it I get the transfer windows stuck at 0% and it disappear after a few seconds.
Thanks in advance to who will help me!

Thanks for the suggestion and... it's a beginning.
The problem is that if I sideload a small file like Magisk upload is ok, even if (obviously) it can't install.
When it comes to Oxygen OS I get I cannot read file error.
I doubleclicked the file and it opens in PC, so it isn't corrupted.
I'd be tempted to try another USB cable and maybe another computer if you have one. Failing that, if it's a problem with TWRP your last resort may be a complete low level flash. A good guide is here - https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5/how-to/unbrick-tool-oneplus-5-t3648169
Edit: I should say be careful if you do have connectivity problems, as flashing using unbrick tools while your connection is bad would not be a good idea at all since it could make things even worse (maybe even hard brick)
I finally got it working. I am a bit ashamed of what the problem was, but I share in case someone else does this stupid error.
The point is: I was formatting /data inside Advanced wipe instead of using "Format Data", so ( I think) I was not rebuilding the sd card allocation table.
After formatting with "Format data" I was able to put the firmware with drag and drop from the PC and I could finally have mu OP5 working again.
Can't you press reboot to recovery and decrypt with your code so your device gets mounted on a PC? Otherwise you can adb sideload the oxygenos file. I had the same error, but Google gave me this:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=69648733&postcount=47
Use the program on all the files in the adb directory and reboot.

Format data is necessary on the OP5 when moving between Nougat and Oreo. I hope you flashed the Oreo Open Beta rather than Freedom. It's far superior.

I didn't at the moment, but I did right now, reverting to stock recovery. Do you now if an Oreo-ready TWRP is around yet?

There are two with download links included in the instructions thread for flashing Oreo. I recommend the Blu Spark TWRP over the Chinese TWRP. It will be updated more often.

SM-J510FN Dual Sim Stuck in TWRP recovery mode

Can anyone help, I rooted my phone last year and installed TWRP as part of the process, I did a backup at the time which I have on my SD card
the phone is stuck in the TWRP recovery mode, I can restore from my backup and it goes through fine but then goes back into recovery mode.
This all started when I tried to reset the phone back to factory defaults. I guess I wiped everything. Has anyone got any ideas how to get out of this.
I am not too familiar with TWRP, if anyone could point me in the right direction with a simple step by step guide it would be most appreciated.

I did try that, I found a ROM j510fnxxs2aq14_j510fndbt2aq14_dbt.zip with size of 1,379,794Kb
when I tried to install it I get a failure could not find META-INF/com/google/android/update-binary in the zip file
Error installing zip file /external_sd/j510fnxxs2aq14_j510fndbt2aq14_dbt.zip
Which is why I asked for a bit more detailed advice on my problem. If you could point me in the direction of a suitable
ROM for my device which will work I would appreciate it.

I have tried several custom roms non of which work. What I don't understand is why when I restore from my one and only backup
it all goes through ok the size is 6036MB it reports restoring 7 partitions
then restoring boot then restoring data, at the end of it I get restore ok then it goes back to the TWRP recovery screen.

Is your stock rom android 5 by any chance?
I don't know what my stock rom is, I can't access anything on my phone apart from the TWRP recovery screen
I do have another SM-J510FN which was bought at the same time which hasn't been rooted running Android 7.1.1
I don't know if that would help to determine what the stock rom is.

Sorry I misread the thread I thought it was 2015 model.
So what exactly did you do? Step by step.
Did you wipe anything in twrp?

I went into the TWRP recovery mode then to Wipe hoping to do a factory reset, that went through ok and came back into the TWRP recovery mode
I then tried Advanced wipe and ticked all the boxes except micro SD card. Nothing could get me out of the recovery mode so then I tried a restore from
an old backup and that seemed to go through ok, but it still came back to the recovery mode.
If it was me, I would remove the back cover and via TWRP menu turn off phone.
As soon as the screen goes black, remove battery.
Insert battery and power on and see what happens.
Have you tried that? Or how do you turn it off?

Many times
Okay... when screen goes black have you tried to quickly start pressing the key combination to enter download mode?
For my J500 it's Volume down + Home key + Power (keep pressing until download screen appears) should be same for J510.
If you can enter download you have the option to use Odin and flash either a stock ROM or a newer Recovery.
If you want, you could:
Advance wipe, everything except SD card and OTG Usb. (How much was backed up? Did you tick all boxes?)
Format Data
Restore backup from SD card again
Advance wipe, tick only 2 boxes, Dalvik + Cache
Restart
Report back
Oh, and just to clarify... when you manually go to Restart in TWRP, no matter what option you choose, the phone restarts into TWRP again?
Bare with me, I'm trying to understand and help.
Thats the problem, I can't get out of the TWRP recovery mode so am not able to use Odin, I presume when I did my original backup
I didn't tick all the boxes because it goes through a recovery with no problem I presume the boot sector is missing.
From the TWRP recovery mode I am able to go to install and select a previously downloaded file but then it fails.
I have searched for a suitable ROM to download but am struggling to find one for my phone
Ok, what TWRP version do you have?

You can update your TWRP with a newer version from here:
https://twrp.me/samsung/j5xnlte.html
(Carefully check that I linked to your model!)
.img is what you want to put in your phone. BUT... I haven't done this myself, so it's your call.
In TWRP you choose to install img and locate the file on your SD card.
My thought is that your TWRP is too old for the ROMs you have tried... (anyone please correct me if I'm wrong).

I have the TWRP image file 3.4.0-0 which partition should I be flashing it to Boot or Recovery?
I would hate kill it after getting this far.
in reply to amirizad_7436 I don't understand, I can't install a stock rom via Odin as I can't get out of the TWRP recovery mode.

You can. There is an option to reboot download mode from twrp (might be reboot bootloader)
That will put the device into download mode and you can flash with Odin.
Alternatively you could go to advanced wipe and wipe everything like you already did and then just flash a custom ROM. You wiped everything you said and then tried to reboot. That's why it went to twrp because you wiped system, there is no system to boot anymore.

Wow, that worked, I updated the version of TWRP and then installed a ROM that I downloaded "resurrectionremix-5.8.4-20190821"
and all seems to be working, both sims are recognised and operational all I need now is to get my head around the UI apart from that everything seems
good. Thank you everybody who helped me through this. I almost got to the point of binning an otherwise good phone.
Once again a big thankyou to everyone.
