need Advie - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all, this is my first post so I hope that I am in the place. I was wondering if someone could give me some advise or point me in the right direction.
I have a Samsung S5 SM-G900v, but it is not on Verizon plan. I bought it from the Verizon Store and then subscribed to straight talk. I have called Samsung, Straight Talk and Verizon trying to get some answers and have had no luck.
My menu doesn't corralate with what anyone tells me that it should be, ex; there is no menu to turn my caller ID on or off. So I called St and they said that I should call Verizon, so I called verizon. They could not explain it because my phone is no longer under control by Verizon. They claim that when the released to Straight Talk , the only one that can change or control anything on the phone would be Straight Talk. Verizon doesn't even have any record of the phone because it has been released from there responsibility. So I called ST and explained what Verizon told me. Straight Talk said that they had no idea of what the problem could be, and told me to contact Samsung. I called Samsung and they said that they could not help me because they sold it to Verizon. While I had them on the phone I asked them about the FM radio that was supposed to be in it, and that it didn't work. The confirmed to me that the S5 does have a FM radio on board but Verizon has it disabled. Well .... Samsung sat they can't help me because they sold the phone to Verizon, Verizon says they no longer has a y record of the phone and no longer has access to it, Straight Talk has no clue ! So where do I go next ?
Does this mean that the boot loader is not locked because Verizon has released the phone to Straight Talk. Can it be rooted know ? I want to do something so I have some control of the phone that I paid for! I have all kinds of apps that Verizon has installed that I can not get off and can't use them because I don't get my service from Verizon. At last count, I think I counted 25 apps that I don't use and can't get off the phone. I can't even disable them, the disable button is greed out,but the keep updating ?
I am lost here. I don't know if this phone is rootable or not, is the bootloader locked ? I don't really want to loose android Marshmallow because it runs better than it did on lollipop, but what time do? If I can root it, can it be a rooted marshmallow or do I have to stay down graded?
Any advise or pointers would greatly be appreciated. Sorry for the bandwidth but you should see the steam coming from my ears !
Thanks for taking the time to read my post?

Try to root with KingRoot. If KingRoot failed then you can go for chainfire's systemless root method. It is in experimental stage.
You need custom recovery installed on your android. Flash Beta SuperSU.zip in recovery that patch your boot image while installing and install SuperSU app.

Thank you so much for responding Ashwinrg. I will go look up the apps, read how to use them properly and I will respond back here to let everyone know how things went. I can not express enough ,how much that I appreciate your input and expertise.
I must also apologize for my lack of proof reading my last post before I posted it. It will not happen again. But I just want to apologize to everyone for my lack of awareness. I post, asking for help and everyone has try to figure out what I am asking because of poor spelling that didn't make any since. Again,
I apologize.
Ashwinrg, thank you again! I greatly appreciate your time.

Sorry to bother you Ashwinrg, but Kingroot did not work so I downloaded what was suppose to be Chainfires system less root, but when I went to the file is was called BETA-SUPERSU v2.79 .zip. Does anyone have a good url to download Chainfires system less root so I can root the phone, then I can put a custom recovery on.

Okay man look, things you need
*Access to PC.
*Download whatever Odin version above v3.09 that you would like.
*Download the custom recovery .tar.md5 file for flashing thru ODIN (TWRP, or whatever is available),
then load the recovery file in ODIN under the AP slot, uncheck the F. Reset Time option,
& then go into download mode, flash it,
boot into your new custom recovery, flash the supersu.zip file you already have thru the recovery,
enjoy.

Thank you LilAnt530, but no joy! I followed your instructions and Odin says failed, so maybe Verizon released the phone but did they unlock the bootloader? I guess it might be time to say to hell with it! This phone has been a bad nomer ever since I bought it. You just can't do anything with it. Sometimes I wonder why do I even need a smartphone, I got by the first 65 years of my life without need for one, why now. I've spent the last 3-4 months trying to find answers and I am no farther along now then I was.
Many many thanks to you and Ashwinrg for your help and expertise.

Wow man sorry to see Big Red hitting Samsung that far back :/. I did some searching & found this thread though. I mean once you are able you can take a 0x0 back up of everything (Modem files are important) so this may help you out man, I hope it does.

Lol no worries bro! May I suggest a new device? Haha, I feel your pain as I have a stack of "Locked" phones like your s5 that just wont give in to anything.
So i found this http://forums.androidcentral.com/sa...s5-root-latest-firmwares-oe1-og5-ok3-pb1.html
And I know it only applies to the pre-marshmallow firmwares, but you could realistically only flash the bootloader from the LP firmware, add on the unlock + recovery, boot into the recovery, flash root on, then boot back out to Odin mode, reflash the locked MM bootloader then maybe run the safestrap.apk from previous thread?
The good news is it can be unlocked on previous firmwares, so if you want to root just need to downgrade that piece (bootloader) that is locked

Really, well let me go do some reading. I will see if I can find what I need, and understand the directions. If so, I will root this puppy. At this point, it is more or less to root just to beat Big Red. I will get back to you. Thanks dude, I appreciate your help and direction.

Ok, I read everything and seems to be fairly straight forward and with tips if something goes wrong. But it doesn't unlock the bootloader. I tried to find the sticky that was mentioned in that post but all I found was a post that says a S5 with the Toshiba chip can not be unlocked. My phone has the Toshiba chip .
Am I correct ? If I am correct I shouldn't flash marshmallow after it is rooted or I may have to get a new phone. Lol I am going to keep looking to see if I can find the post that was mentioned.

Well the general belief on my end was once you were rooted they would have a custom Marshmallow ROM somewhere around.
But yea definitely think everything out before you get TOO deep, Im going to also track down the ridiculous manual root method, I've gotten 2 ZTE offhand phones to cross over using it.
Just trying to get one in on Verizon for my dead LG Lucid haha.
Apps that will be of help,
A terminal emulator
Any from the store will do
Busybox (it can sometimes be used without root)
Also take a dive into Magisk, as they have developed a systemless interface that has broken through touchwiz encryption for me on this s6 edge+ and gotten supersu into my system apps

That may possibly help you, but I figure stock Samsung ROMs might make it difficult.
Make sure to grab a root file browser
Like Root File Browser lol

Well , I decided to root the phone but no joy. I followed the instructions to a tee, and got the phone back to lollipop but it still will not root. King root say something like no more avenues or something along those lines. I'll bet a hammer could root this thing . LOL I never had a problem with any of the pro0cesses until the root, that was a no go. But I do have lollipop on my phone. Any ideas or tips or maybe a steer in the right direction ?

Okay yea dude KingRoot is full of Sh*t lol, if it says there's no options available tap the area giving you the message and it should (hopefully lol) try the default rooting method it falls back on. Also try KingoRoot as it uses a different method.

Well LilAnt530, it looks like this phone is just impossible. I have tried KingRoot, KingoRoot, towelroot, somethinissingsrsroot and they all give me the same message, "device not supported". There is something that I am doing wrong or missing. Everything I read, indicates it should root.
Here is what I have ,
Samsung SM-G900V,
Android Version 5.0,
Baseband Version G900VVRU2BPB1,
Kernal Version 3.4.0,
Build Number LRX21T.G900VVRU2BPB1
Security patch Level 2016-02-01
Do you see anything that isn't right ? I am totally baffled now, I thought I had it licked but no joy yet.
Thanks

Dirty cow app ? Wow that is a new one. No I have not used that but I will see if I can find it to try. Last night I went thru 1000 posts looking for an answer and found nothing that was helpful.
I do have a question, if any can tell me. When
I downgraded to lollipop, the instruction said, " Do not install google or Samsung account when setting up phone. Well, I had to. Samsung said that due to a abnormal boot, that I must verify that it was my phone and would not let me continue until I put in my I'D and password.
Does anyone know if that could be preventing root?
I will go see if I can find Dirty Cow.
Thanks for staying with me this long,
I sure do appreciate your time and help.
---------- Post added at 01:28 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:01 PM ----------
I would not be comfortable with the Dirty Cow exploit. I did find much that was positive about it. Personally I think I have come to the end road. I have tried everything that I can find on rooting the S5 with lollipop. I hate to say it but it is time to think about whether to keep lollipop or let the phone update back to Marshmallow and forget about root.
I have learned a lot by going the route that I have but one thing is for certain, Samsung and Verizon have lost a customer! Rather than buying this S5 , I should have given in to Apple and bought an iphone. I hate iPhone but not as much as Verizon and Samsung at the moment.
I have to go make a decision on what I am going to do.

I'm dealing with this same issue right now. Bought an SM-S975L for straight talk last night and I want to use it on Metro PCS. Metro says all is well on their end and I just have to wait, but all I see is "Invalid Sim" on the status bar. How did you unlock the SM-S975L? There's very limited information around the internet about this model. I'm tearing my hair out and the wifey is driving around without a phone. Figured you (or anybody else) could point me in the right direction.

LOL, the $249 deal was hard to pass up. I got a couple of them, one for me and one for the misses. She'll be fine with the 4.3 that is on the phone out of the box, but I wanted to convert mine to be like the I9505G (GPE). I was thinking it would be simple as I've heard all of the LTE models were like the I9505 and they seem fairly broken into. But I think this is more like the SGH-I337 and maybe boot loader locked, but looking into ways to test that. I did root it already using towelroot. Installed SuperSU and Titanium Backup and root is working, now so see if I can get CMW and a GPE rom on it. If I find a way I'll be sure it is mentioned here as a working method for the SM-S975L. I'm not using it yet as I have my GT-I9500 that I'm using, but seeing better support for the qualcomm for custom roms I decided to get it. The I9500 should get Android 5.0 official rom first though.
For what it's worth, I just picked up this phone from the Black Friday sale, and I would *really* like to put a custom ROM on it. I won't even pretend to be proficient in this. How difficult would it be to convert the custom ROMs on other models of Galaxy S4's to this one?
I am unsure my self the closest variant is the att s4. Both the att one and this one is bootloader locked. Since we have 4.3 version of Android safestrap would be likely what to use. I am afraid of this my self so I have not attempted it

It is the SM-S975L with a T-Mobile ROM and the custom kernel. The SGH-I337 ROM does not work, it erases the system partition every flash.
Awesome work aromerblz. Anything special you had to do to load the ROM with the S975 baseband...or any issues you're experiencing? Will be testing this out later in the week when I get some free time.

That is cool, at the very least its Kit Kat. I still would like to find a method to convert completely to GT-I9505G. Just no time. I'm hoping with jtag access it can be completely reconfigured, then just make sure the IMEI is set to that the device should be. Ideally the only way to see it was a SM-S975L would be to look under the battery. I don't really care about removing the SIM lock though, I plan to stick with my ST SIM. I did get a new BYOD SIM and it is showing 4G now (Not sure if it should indicate LTE like old ATT S3 does) as my old BYOD SIM would not and ST support said that I could not move the included SIM to any other device as it would be bound to the S975L.
I would love to get off the Tracfone ROM. I'm going to assume that Samsung/Tracfone will never upgrade this phone beyond Android 4.3. The last native update was in February of this year, and it was just a minor patch. I'm not too concerned about unlocking, but being able to use a different ROM seems to be a step in the right direction. If anyone could post a tutorial or what ROMs they used, that would be extremely helpful. I've looked everywhere and this info is not available anywhere.
For what it's worth, someone over on GSM Forums has claimed to have flashed the AT&T ROM too. They also were unable to unlock it, however. Unfortunately, I can't post the direct link until I have hit 10 posts That poster has been inactive for two months, and before that, he was inactive for three years. It may be hard to get in touch with him..

I first flashed a T-Mobile TWRP recovery v27.1, but the latest v28 works fine. After that i downloaded the TMB firmware NB4 from sammobile.com created a custom rom with the android kitchen. After that the usual flashing of the rom via TWRP. Without a custom kernel the phone does not boot up. So i used the ktoonsez kernel. Once booted i rooted with towelroot and pjone has been working fine. Only things to know is that when booting up it says "Kernel is not SeAndroid"
"Set Warranty Bit: Kernel"
As that specifies it trips the knox flag. Which i dont care if it does as am not in the USA.
You used the TWRP for jfltetmo, correct? Did you use Odin to flash it?
Also, this might seem obvious, but even if I do this, it'll still work/remain locked to ST/AT&T, correct?

Yeah TWRP for jfltetmo. The jflteatt does not seem to work at all on this model. I flashed with odin, no need to use safestrap on this phone as i think the bootloader is not locked like the one found on the SGH-I337, although its the identical variant.
Yes the phone remains locked to ST/AT&T. A friend of mines was able to get the unlock cod for this phone but even with the unlock code its not a permanent lock. Reason is because you can unlock and be able to use all the features available to the phone but once restarted it asks for the code again. Not sure why it does that, I believe the radio has to be the culprit for that here. Not sure how TracFone will handle the unlocks for this phone after 01/01/15. does the same even on full stock TF firmware.

I wish I could explain to somone over the phone what is going on, but have no resources to contact for this kind of help. I did to the process listed in the link: Tutorial] Unlock ALL bands on xt907 (moto_msm8960) with no success. I will check out the other post and see if I get any further. Any assistance or help you may know of is much appreciated. Im hoping to transfer my phone to temporary straight talk phone until this is fixed, just hope I dont have to send it off to someone.
Edit....Ok my device is rooted (dont know for sure but I have super user installed (full version of SU)) and I can play apps that are not Google approved. I tried the Motopocalypse and cant get any further. Does it matter what version of Android i have? currently this phone is on 4.4.2 BUT I dont really care if it stays on that version...Do I /Can I go back to the 4.1 version I had before? I believe it was the stock version of the phone's android system by not positive as i bought this phone unlocked. I would contact the seller but they have disappeared from ebay.

More problems....arg
OK so my phone turns on, asks to run the setup again, as soon as I start the setup in android, after choosing my english language, it says "Please wait, this may take a few minutes." Well this has been doing it for 12 hours now......any help?? Im so frustrated at this point, I really need this phone to work. I have a temp phone to take calls on if anyone desires to be a superhero and help me fix this xt907. Thanks!

Meabrams, thanks for your reply but I am not sure what I need at this point. Not sure by what you mean by "big red", is that another site?

Flashing Firmware via Fastboot
You mentioned you are stucked at the initial setup screen. This implies that you need to reflash the stock ROM. Please visit this link to read my post containing instructables to successfully flash stock ROM.
Q. Can I unlock bootloader?
No. As of KDA 20.62 15.1 update, the Trust Zone vulnerability has been fixed which allowed exploit to work.
Q. Can I root?
Yes! Head to this thread to root (install SU) on your RAZR.
Q. Can I downgrade?
Unfortunately no! You are stucked permanently with the Kitkat flavour.
US GSM Carrier Unlock
The method is fairly long but easy. Head to the thread here to unlock US GSM carriers which will allow you use Straight Talk.

SM-G530T1 Stock or Cutstom ROM

Okay, I have a Samsung Galaxy Prime with Metro PCS. I was just texting the other day and then my phone reset and I got a black screen saying Blocked by Binary FTP. So yes i made the mistake of bricking my phone and flashing the T-Mobiles SM-G530T firmware. I've looked everywhere for the Stock Rom but can't find it and not sure if there are any Customer Roms for this device. Can someone get me going in the right direction or am i best with just sendng it back to Samsung and letting them flash it?

Here's the link with Galaxy Grand Prime SM-G530T/ T1 Stock rom flashed via Odin.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-core/development/odin-5-1-1-sm-g530t1-oh9-metropcs-t3280445
I know it says "Core Prime" but I assure you its the Grand Prime SM-G530T Stock. it's just a little typo.
It is the T-Mobile version but compatible with MetroPCS 100%. Metro PCS is under T-Mobile in the first place, pretty much the same thing except for the Start-Up & the apps. But it works! & the developer(s) that made the package did an amazing job!
If anyone needs further info feel free to contact me! I would be happy to assist in any way possible.

so i bought this phone about 3 months ago (SM-G530T1) and i bricked it 3 days after i bought it by installing busybox un-rooted. still not sure how that happened but that is not the point, the point is i flashed the only stock firmware i could find (at the time) and it just so happened to be a mis-marked T-mobile firmware package. i didn't let it bother me though and continued to gain root and flashed ShinySides [AOF8]. It worked like a charm! I was just running T-mobile FW on a MetroPCS phone and it just got confusing if you have to call costomer service lol. so i made sure it worked in every way and removed all the bloatware. the only problem i had was with the hotspot feature, it had a mind of its own and that got annoying but i dont really use it that often so i could live with that. the phone was a champ! so i went to find a recovery or twrp. i was looking and found TWRP 2.8.7.0...it was not for the SM-G530T1 but it sorta worked and when i say sorta i mean it does pretty much everything you want it to do except BACK UP FILES! Lol! (at least for me anyways) so i ran that with the T-Mobile software for a few months until lastnight... see I didnt know about the failure to back up my files issue so you have to understand that i fully expected the TWRP Backup files to work and last night when i went to restore one of the BUps it informed me that i had no OS anymore !! oh man i wanted to puke! Upon further inspection i realized that it was only backing up about 20% of my system only and i should have noticed but i didn't expect that and that is how we learn the difference between knowledge and wisdom right? OK so at that point i had a bricked phone (MY DAILY DRIVER i might add) and i was not to happy to lose all my personal info either, so i went back on XDA to see what i could do. i was very pleased to see that there was now a working MetroPCS Package compliments of TSAR3000 and I went to work. I flashed it via Oden and was happy to see the familiar MetrPCS logo again, but i needed to re-root it so i used the ShinySides [AOF8] just to see if it would worked with the metro Firmware and it did! it trips KNOX but i could care less cause i dont want that crap anyways and i get rid of it right away lol. I debated if i sould put this next part in the message but i decided i would because people should be weary of programs and roots applications and remember that this is the true reason we root and unlock our phones to begin with... so Im not a paranoid person by nature but i dont trust King root or any of those one click apps companies because of some article i read a while back about how the Chinese root apps and downloads could possibly contain spyware but i never found any truth to it but from what i do know about the Chinese government i dont take the chance but its my opinion and i like the good old fashion (though a little more involved) flashing of SuperSU or whatever you like. So yes if you want to use ShinySides root procedure do it cause it works with metro just fine. Good luck.

Put the file in AP slot and the metro pit file in the box marked pit and start. And in about 4 or 5 min your phone will reboot and the if you want root and recovery flash Mr Sunnyside's trap kernel AOF8 then after that flash recovery TWRP SM-G530H it's the one recovery I've been able to find that works.. Good luck

i wish someone would have been kind to me and gave me this little rundown when i started rooting my phones way back in the day. direct and to the point good job! anyways i hope there is no issues... i dont see why there would be since i have been running this exact recipe for 7 days and i must say its a rare moment in the phone modifying world when you can say "perfect" this is one of those times... now if we could only get some rom up in here it would really be awesome. hey i jus want to warn you about that TWRP your about to use. i know it to have bugs personally.... the main issue is that it doesnt back up your Data Boot Or recovery or Cache LOL, but everything else works fine so far. it will however back up about 20% of your system and shut of LOL (Basically just enough to add insult to injury) so my advice is use it cause its the best we have but BACKUP SOMEWHERE ELSE! just use the TWRP to flash or do the little weird TWRP things you gotta do K? Good luck!

I'm new to this forum. I've soft bricked my Grand Prime, flashed it, put a custom Rom on it and installed TWRP. What I'm trying to do is find the device tree specifically for this phone. If there isn't, how would I go ahead and build it from scratch?

This is the only one that I know of that will root the Nougat version of the S7 Edge. It is a very long thread, and there is a lot of information that can help. I know it works as I tried it on my G935U at one time.

Excellent! I wanted some confirmation from someone with the same phone (unlocked AT&T on N.)
Have you remained rooted since? I'm hearing mixed reports about performance and things stop working.) My primary concern though is our locked bootloaders. If we make changes that cause problems can we undo it? Like flashing the stock firmware? Thanks

Yes, I have remained rooted, but I ended up going back to stock G935A and then rooting again with that procedure. Personally, I was not getting the performance I was used to with the G935U as I was with the G935A with the root procedure.
Yes, there are some things that do not work with these eng.imgs that are being used to root the phones. There is NO Xposed for this one, Samsung Pay does not work, but I have been using Android Pay and it works just fine. As for the Bootloader, it is still LOCKED. There has not been any Unlocked bootloaders for the G935 or G930 so far and I don't think we will see it anytime soon.
As for Undoing, yes. There is a very simple way to go back to stock with Odin. In fact, about once a month, I return to stock just so I can get the latest security patch and then re-root my phone back to this way. I know it is somewhat of a pain, but with Titanium Back up I can get my phone back to running normally in a couple of hours.
Hope this helps...
It's not quite as fast, but if you are backing up and restoring to the same device, you can just use ADB. I still have a TiBu license, and use it on my Tab S2, but I have largely adapted to not having root on my S7 by taking advantage of basic ADB features.

One followup--when you say Xposed doesn't work, do you mean you tried the newest Nougat version that just got released? Or it never worked, not even on M?

What I meant was Xposed doesn't work on the current version of root using the eng.img. I have not tried using the NEW Xposed that is in THIS thread. I have looked at it but have not had a chance to run the zipped file and installing it. I know it works with MM as I had it working GREAT with MM and the eng.img with that version. I love Xposed and wish that was available for Nougat and N's root. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will be fully implemented soon.

I tried this 4 times and failed. The problem is it just keeps rebooting (about every 45 to 60 seconds) after I flash the eng boot img. Im never able to run adb commands. If I start from a clean slate I can't even make it past the setup screens to enable debugging.
I'm reaching out to you because you succeeded with the same model SM-G935U
So I'm just seeing if you have any insights. My phone should be the same as yours. Only difference is mine came with 7.0 preinstalled. Maybe an earlier firmware? But that doesn't make sense because people are, to my understanding, using the eng boot with recent firmware.
I'll repost in the root thread if I need to but thought I'd see if you have anything to offer. Thanks

I seem to remember the constant rebooting on the U-Firmware also. I too kept trying and it finally took. I think I would take the OTA from the server and try to install the eng.img with Odin. When you do this, does Odin give you any errors? Or does it succeed at the installation?
It has been a few months since I rooted the U-Firmware so not for sure what fixed the rooting process. Sorry I couldn't be more help...

Thanks. No Odin works perfectly whether I flash eng boot or stock.
I looked at the root guide for Sprint and the process is a lot more involved. I believe he boots to recovery twice and wipes cache plus factory reset twice. He also stresses to get the root.bat run quickly to avoid bootloop.
Might be worth a shot but the process of running Odin, getting back to stock and restoring all my data winds up being close to a few hours so It'd be very helpful to find someone with the same issue as me who was able to resolve it.

Downgrade 6.0.1 to 5x?

Ok, go easy on me.
Since the upgrade from Lollipop to 6 my verizon Samsung S5 was slower with lag but still bearable. However after today's security patch its so slow it's almost unusable. How can I force it back to Lollipop?
I know almost nothing about rooting/JB but willing to learn something new as long I don't brick it. I just don't understand the terms and risks and process. Where do I start?
Thank you.

That was first thing I did, then booted in to save mode but neither made a difference. It was fine utill I accepted the update yesterday morning. After it installed it has been EXTREMELY slow. As i type this it lags on key presses. It was definitely the update.

It's impressive that on so many forums everywhere people decide they need to only give their own opinion of situations instead of answering original poster's questions.
While I'm also skeptical that an official update would be the cause such a massive slowdown on his phone, that's not really what he asked to be addressed, even if the answer may be obvious to some.

Unfortunately as your S5 has the Toshiba chipset (emmc of 11) there is no way to downgrade the firmware to Lollipop or KitKat. The bootloader is locked. You are out of luck unless you or someone else figures out an exploit.
You can start here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve...t/rd-unlocking-galaxys-s5-bootloader-t3337909 This explains in a good bit of depth the current status of Verizon S5 bootloaders.
Other than that, just start searching and googling. It's probable that someone else has a similar issue as you. And like Rumsfield said, it's highly unlikely that an official update (which is what it sounds like you have) would be the cause of such a dramatic change in your phone's speed, so it would be worthwhile to investigate further. Have you deleted your dalvik/cache in the recovery? Have you done a hard reset? These are things you have to do before you blame the firmware, and if you have done already, it's a good idea to mention that in your original post so that you avoid unnecessary responses.
Good luck!

I have a very uneducated question to ask, don't or do The FOTA logs in the recovery menu contain all check values and patch notes old - new? Again bare with my lack of knowledge on this topic but if pushed ota and still in log can it be pulled although maybe enough info alone in log for aboot and other values as far a checks but can it be modified even with filler as what it looks like on a battery self check and re injected through command as OTA? Last question before I'm stone to death for being the forum idiot here...if something is odexed and after the patch now labeled an 8 digit number kinda like Cid or emmc or whatever the long as chipset number for instance has the another value as an I'd in the middle of it can it inturn be reversed so parameters are matched and verified and possibly editited? Thanks
---------- Post added at 07:23 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:24 PM ----------
Oh. Forgot to ask I didn't see a check after the
command: "/sbin/recovery" "--update_package=/cache/fota/update.zip" "--carry_out=open_fota" "--locale=en_us"
Is that a forced allowable command? The real last question and believe me I have searched threads with no luck but the mention of a dev phone and aboot.mdn
Is the recovery file system table
0/boot emmc/dev/block/platform/msm_sscc.1/by-name/boot (/dev/block/mmcblk0p15) 0
1/ ect...
2/ect..
If the 0 is a 1 would that turn any phone into dev phone or allowable options
And noticed the checks were against the chipset and matching verizon fw although att and tmo had 0 values if values were 1''s would that allow you to you the right matching chipset for att and it's fw tmo ect.. or even the 15mmc instead of the 11?

Thanks

Oh. Forgot to ask I didn't see a check after the
command: "/sbin/recovery" "--update_package=/cache/fota/update.zip" "--carry_out=open_fota" "--locale=en_us"
Is that a forced allowable command? The real last question and believe me I have searched threads with no luck but the mention of a dev phone and aboot.mdn
Is the recovery file system table
0/boot emmc/dev/block/platform/msm_sscc.1/by-name/boot (/dev/block/mmcblk0p15) 0
1/ ect...
2/ect..
If the 0 is a 1 would that turn any phone into dev phone or allowable options

No idea what you are actually asking because you are talking like a terminator sent back to April 11, 2014 to start some sort of war about a very old phone. Obviously triggered so hard you made a new account.

Huh? I was just asking a question? New account? Must have me mistaken sir. I was curious about this phone what options there were after the update to gain root access I have never chimed in as I was trying to read all past and present post on this topic kind of gets a little confusing one would think outdated post and procedures would be deleted or timestamped to where if the method dosent work anymore why have it up unless only as a reference. But thank you sir for no guidance or help at all.
After marshmallow update I am no longer able to view any logs in the recovery menu.

You were asking a question that was very convoluted from a "new" account, turns out you created it like 3 years ago and never posted. You quoted my response to someone else asking your question which to me made no sense, hence my weird response to you. I still don't understand why you are posting in this thread with that question unless you are trolling.

twrp-3.1.0-1-klte.img.tar 9.5M 2017-04-27 21:54:26 EDT which were flashed via ODIN with no issues.

Thank you.

Ok so first your warranty is void (gone) also make sure you backup your phone like photos etc take screenshots of needed text messages also your phone has an 11 CID (I sadly have one to) Like you mentioned which is not unlockable so we have to go back to Lollipop to root and what do you get with root you get the ability to flash custom Touchwiz based roms anything aosp/cm/linage wont work because our bootloader is locked and there is no current exploit to unlock them there is alot of Touchwiz based roms available I added screen shots on how my S5 looks I'm running Alliance rom I have added the themes from an older version of Alliance rom and added Viper4arise Viper4arise is a really cool sound mod it gives you increddible sound there is also xposed framework now if your interested in rooting download the drivers http://developer.samsung.com/galaxy/others/android-usb-driver-for-windows extract the zip and run the exe then download odin from https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=673368273298975100 extract the zip and run odin now power off your phone and hold Volume Down + Home + Power then click Volume Up To Accept then plug your phone into your computer make sure it shows Up in Blue in the top left in Odin Should say something like "COM" now download https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=673368273298975100 that is your lollipop tar.md5 download that and extract the zip now click AP in odin and select that tar.md5 you extracted from the zip odin might freeze but its verifying the file once its verified click start this Should downgrade the phone now you might have to pull the battery if the phone wont boot afterwards (stuck on Red Verizon Screen) and boot into recovery by powering off the device (Pull the battery) and then Holding Volume UP + Home + Power untill you see "Recovery booting" in the top left now use the Volume buttons to scroll and power to select go Down to Wipe Data / Factory Reset and click power button once its highlighted now use Volume buttons to go Down to Yes and click Power to select it when it is finished click power when Reboot now is highlighted now root the phone using this guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve.../testers-required-easier-root-method-t3561529 or this one https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/general/root-method-og5-ok3-t3290370 if you ever need help you can Private Message me on XDA.
You can even go back to kitKat and safestrap will work But you have to root 5.0 First here is a guide I made https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve...al/how-to-install-kitkat-lolipop-pb1-t3589151

understandable. no i usually have not ran into many problems before. as it has been years since i messed with these phones and decided to mess with them again alot has changed i updated one of them and was looking for a way back being it has the 11xxx toshiba chip. as far as replying to quote i have never posted before i just thought i was replying to thread or whatever but just glad i received a response lol. i was just curious i was looking in the recovery menu at the logs from the FOTA update that i accidentally accepted. noticed they were very detailed which i thought was unusual. Again very very detailed like source code or whatever the raw format is called and was curious if it could be pulled with an adb command. the second part was a shell script whatever excuse my ignorance when it comes to this but after they were ran they were checked/verified or whatever and showed values that must have been met, which lead me to ask about is there a way to use adb to unlock the boatloader as an update.zip? thanks
