Stock tar.md5 for 10.1 Table A (SM-P580)? - Samsung Galaxy Tab A series Questions & Answers

I'm wanting to root my USA 2016 Tab A w/ so pen. However, I don't want to go ahead until I can find the stock fw for it. No results in the normal places. The few I've found aren't from a English speaking locale.
Is there another way to restore this tablet to stock that I'm not aware of?

Updato.com, sammobile, Samsung-updates.com
Country code XAR.

Thanks. Found it at samsung updates. Was missing the XAR part, which was still confusing (Cellular South?) until I saw it on the end of the stock model name. Thanks again.

Ok, so was looking at this last night. The .zip from samsung updates broke into 4 tar.md5s. Which file goes in which odin slot, and do I need to install all 4?

Quick Confirmation Required

I have just received a new Tmobile Galaxy SII with the following info:
model gt-i9100
android 2.3.3
baseband i9100bokg1
build gingerbread.bokg2
I want to debrand it and put the latest stock firmware on it. I am planning to do the following but would just like it if some, more knowledgeable person can confirm it is correct. I am just getting a bit confused with all the talk of Frankensteins and CSCs etc;!
1. Download and install Kies to get USB drivers working
2. Download Odin V1.83
3. Download XXKI3 (Android 2.3.5) - which says it is original (unmodified) Wipe Package with new bootloader has: PDA: XXKI3| Modem/phone: XXKI3| CSC: OXAKI3. Is this the right one and the latest?
4. Phone to download mode, run Odin, add XXKI3 as PDA and click Start.
Job done. Is the above all correct?
Many thanks. I have searched the forums I promised but I am getting truly lost!
Where did you get that version info? The T-Mobile-branded GS2 should be T989, not I9100. The I9100 is the original, non-US version and doesn't support AWS bands, so you can only get EDGE speeds on T-Mo. If you have a T989 and you try to flash I9100 components you won't like the results, since the phones are basically unrelated aside from the name.
If you bought it from a T-Mo store/reseller, go here. If you actually have the international version (Settings->About Phone->Model number would be GT-I9100), then you've basically got the right idea, though I think KJ3 is the latest. If it's too confusing, you should also be able to update through Kies, which is Samsung's official support software.

OP has location Cheltenham and a British flag, would be a fair assumption to say he's on T-Mobile UK (EverythingEverywhere, or whatever they're called now), so I9100, nothing to do with the US.
Thanks for your reply. Sorry if I misled - I'm in the UK and its the normal Galaxy 2 just sold through the TMobile carrier so it has a few Tmobile odds and sods lying around (like web n walk browser etc. I saw that KJ3 is the latest so am downloading that (normal link not the "stock kernel" link) and will flash later.
Thanks again.

Almost, you need to use CSC XEU for the UK.

[Needed]CSC for Canadian GT-N8010

Hi,
If at all possible, could someone post the complete CSC for their 8010 that is running 4.0.4 (If there's any of left that haven't installed a 4.1.1). Im trying to revert back to the Canadian base firmware and cannot for the life of me locate the CSC anywhere on the internet.
Thanks,
Thomas
Hi agin,
I hate to bump my own thread. I'm just trying to figure something out. If any could please post the CSC for this it would be of great help to me.
As it stands I'm trying to figure out a problem I'm having where when I try updating through kies it gives me an error message. It appears my CSC has changed when I installed the German JB 4.1.1. And I have yet to find any indication of what the Canadian CSC may be, on the web.
Now us Canadians are good people, and when another Canadian is in need we help out. I beg of you help me. I've attached a screenshot of what Kies tells me.
Thanks again,
Thomas

Yes, I got this tablet directly from Retail in Canada without any modding so it should be stock.
I've only installed ExynosAbuse for rooting, without the Exploit Patch. And BusyBox, Smart Install.
(Those two shouldn't change the CSC and PDA, I assume)
Surprised it has an Australian ROM tho.
Below is the CSC and PDA info from KIES

Like I have said earlier its nearest rom is Australian as I had done an extensive search while trying to help out a member. But did not have a confirmation of the same as I do not have a device and no one owning it could confirm that.

I had seen your post about the Australian Firmware being the closest to the Canadian one. I downloaded the Firmware when I saw this so I'm about to install and hope for the best. Successfully Installed Australian. Just gotta go through the process of restoring everything, will update on progress.

Which Firmware? There isn't a available Canadian Firm. The best case scenario wold be some one on the stock Canadian Firmware making an image of their firmware.
Thomas
Would someone please tell me why you need the Canadian csc ?
A reason except "I think I need canadian csc for my canadian note".
Why is the last Taiwan firmware not good for you?
You just select your language at setup and select samsung keyboard english canadian in the settings.

This exactly. If ever something goes wrong with this I would like to have all my bases covered. After installing the Australian ICS I'm happier with the German JB. Also if ever the Canadian JB comes out, which I've read and heard is supposed to be before the end of the month?, I want to be prepared.
Thomas
Don't quote me on this but as long as the firmware you flash is the same as stock you shouldn't have a problem, I read somewhere on the forums that the csc is embeded in the device.might have to go top best buy or futurshop and check out one of the floor models lol

A bit green - but hoping this helps. Just picked up the Note 10.1 8010 yesterday - it is still on 4.0.4 - haven't touched it yet.
Kies shows the following as per your screenshot:
Current firmware version: PDA : LG4 / CSC:LH3 (XAC)
why Samsung Canada is such slow!
Screenshot of CSC bought at Future shop in Canada on January 13, 2013
Thanks everyone for cataloging the Canadian CSC here. I've still had no luck find the Canadian ICS. But have instead Rooted the German 4.1.2 and I'm as happy as can be. Still a little worried about what happens if it needs to go in for Warranty, but I'll deal with that in time.
Thanks,
Thomas

Depressing really.
I have to say, the new update for N8010 (MA5) is just awesome. Runs fluid like hell (about 6100 points in quadrant w/o tweaks or OC, for those who wants to know).
No new apps, afaics.
USB-OTG got fixed again, works, but unfortunately not with "high-powered" devices like my 2,5 inch hdd, btw it works with my galaxy s3 and get power, but not on my note 10.1
Oh Irony I hope the devs can rule this problem out, would really apprentice to see my external harddrives working with my note
I guess, its all I can say at this moment, since I couldnt test the new firmware completely (cause of exams -.-)

It is great, one of the things I really like is the on screen commands. Makes going back and forth thru web pages and content a breeze. 2nd only to the quick launch bar at the bottom that lets you pan thru, split screen or cascade windows. When you are on the web you don't have to waste time shutting windows to open an app. Next is the paper artist app, I really like it but it pales to PS which received the latest update. SNote was always good and much better. Now when you see something on a screen you just hold down the pen button while drawing "any shape, letter, number whatever" and you can save the content to a scrap book. Those are just the ones I appreciate so far.
One thing I have always liked about Samsung devices is on the keyboard is the www. and .com so you just type in the site name and you don't have to keep repetitively putting in the same www and .com for every site you visit. Another thing is voice tweeting. On twitter I just voice type in my posts. Last but not least you can write on any picture outside of SNote. In gallery you can send pics as postcards by just choosing a picture and edit. It turns the picture on it's back and you can handwrite or type in your message, then email. If you want to write on the face take a snap shot and then do so or go to PS or SNote. Too much to like I could go on and on. The best tablet I have ever had and I have had many.

About country versions:
Experience shows that the waiting time for your country firmware version or an OTA update for your country depends on the priority your country has for samsung (waiting time of 1 day, many months or possibly never get an update for your country).
Samsung firmware for the Note 10.1 includes all languages and is almost identical in all country versions (with exception of the China version).
Also the German version offers all languages at setup. You just have to select Samsung Keyboard in your language version in settings and the firmware will be like your own country version.
You should backup all your data/apps/settings with something like Titanium backup, install the new firmware and then do a factory reset.
You can also not do the factory reset, but you may have compatibility problems.
To install firmware on your Note 10.1 you need Odin.

The N8000 got it first because it is the most expensive, main device, almost a copy of the N7100.
N8013 got it second this time because you were lucky. N8000 and 8010 are international versions, N8013 is a USA only, regional subversion.

You can also use mobile ODIN if you are rooted and want to keep root.
This bypasses the using of a PC if you download the update to your tablet, unrar it and then flash with mobile ODIN.
If you want a perfectly stock rom then you just untick everroot option and tick clear cache/data and clear dalvik cache.

mobile odin is not free. everroot for keeping root is only in the paid version.
mobile odin installs a custom kernel, not the original samsung kernel.
Is this custom kernel based on the new 2013 samsung kernel that patches exynos exploit (the patch is in the kernel) ?

Wrong lol completely, lol joking but no N8000 got its ROM first not because its more expensive that's totally incorrect. Only because it has phone capabilities and is the starting point of the base rom. Once they where done making it for the N8000 then all they do is change the features in it to make it compatible with the other note 10.1's. We basically all have the same ROM just with changes made. And the CMA1, CMA3, and CMA5 at the end of the build names are just build dates not exactly versions.

Someone please give me clear answers for my new phone?

I bought G935FD from Amazon 3 weeks ago- it's unlocked and carrier-free. I've been using it out of the box, no root. Some parts of the box was typed in Arabic indicating it's from/for UAE.
I live in US and have been using MetroPCS (uses T-mobile network). It seems to work flawlessly.
1. Will I get OTA updates? I doubt MetroPCS will do it for this international version from UAE.
2. If above is no, what's the best way to get the latest updates / how do I know my phone has the latest version?
3. What are CSC and PDA?
4. I came across this link: Which country is best for me living in US? Should I continue to use the stock UAE it came with? Any advantage for other countries? (some countries get latest updates faster?)
As for updating FW- a step-by-step guide is appreciated. I've been reading up, and it involves using Odin, but there seems to be tons of different country/region versions for G935FD- and I get concerned about bricking my phone or messing it up.
So many questions.

1. You should get OTA updates. They will come from Samsung and not your carrier.
3. CSC is your region and or carrier code that identifies your Samsung firmware.
4. OJV may not update as often as the other UAE firmware (XSG). A lot of Americans run XSG or Spanish AMO. If ya need help. You can PM me and I'll help get ya sorted.

1. So why XSG or AMO for G935FD users in US over hundreds of other countries? What's makes those two compatible? If I use other countries, what happens to the phone?
2. Which one do you use?
3. This is bit of a different topic, does your phone suffer from Media Server battery drain? Mine does and that's what prompted me to update my phone hoping there's a fix out (deleting/backing up pics help, but it reoccurs)

Most people use those firmwares over others because they support Samsung pay. I personally use AMO because it has the add benefit of wifi calling and and white pages. As for the battery drain issue. You shouldn't be having that issue. I know I don't experience that issue with AMO. It could be a problem that was fixed in a later patch.

That's the correct one. Since you're switching firmwares use the AMO_CSC file rather than the Home_CSC file. That way it'll wipe your phone clean. Make sure youve got security PIN setup because you'll be asked for it after reset. Other than that. Just follow the instructions and it'll be smooth sailing.

Thanks. I'm learning a lot here. Getting ready to do it now. More Qs:
1. So with AMO, I can now use Samsung Pay? Is this the correct version for my phone? I presume this is not available on Google Play because it bypasses Samsung bloat if done through the phone? (if so, I need to manually update this app as new versions get released?)
2. Will wifi calling also work too as MetroPCS supports too right? (it did for my previous phone on MetroPCS)
3. This G935F firmware should work flawlessly despite my phone being G935FD right? I think I read this, just making sure.
4. How does whitepages work- AMO comes with it or do I need to download White Pages app?

You'll need to install the Samsung pay framework and Samsung pay app in that order from APK mirror website. Just read the description for the app before you download to be sure its the US version and it's compatible with the frame work. In order to make white pages work you'll need to enable it from the Phone app settings. G935F works with FD.
