How to flash miui using twrp? - Xiaomi Redmi 3s Questions & Answers

Hi!
I have my device a few days ago and I wanted to flash globerom (alias smiui), but when I tried to flash it in twrp it gave me strange installation logs and when it finished it killed everything except fastboot (I couldn't boot into system, recovery and the power-and-volumeup mode) I flashed twrp again and restored my old backup and than it fixed everything, but when I tried to flash a newer miui (the one can be downloaded from miui.com) it did the same. So what can I do than?
I don't want to do flash in fastboot, because a corrupted fastboot package killed my previous redmi
Is there any risk less method to flash miui roms in twrp?
Thanks for all the answers in advance!
P. S. : Cm13 worked well

I prefer flash a fastboot MIUI ROM compared to a recovery MIUI ROM

Did you disable "DM-Verity" in TWRP after flashing and first start?

How do I install any other ROM on Redmi 2 Prime currently running MIUI 8?

I am currently using MIUI 8 and i hate it.
I want to go back to Resurrection Rom. But the problem is when installing, i think i used wrong command and flashed the boot image (fastboot flash boot).
Now if i install any ROM other than MIUI 8, it does not work. Goes into bootloop. I can boot into TWRP recovery using fastboot. But after successfully flashing my Resurrection Rom, the phone starts, MI logo appears and it reboots again after a screen flicker.
Please advise on how i can install Resurrection Rom again. Also i can only boot into recovery using TWRP 3.0.0, any other recovery like Stock, Philz (CWM) are not working. I can only boot into recovery using fastboot boot twrp3.0.0.img command.
Thanks

If fastboot method is not working for 3.0.2.0 version then ,Just try to flash t.w.r.p 3.0.2.0.img (download from here)by flashify or rashr app. Then reboot in to recovery and flash any custom rom.
u can also flash recovery image file by your existing recovery.
And why using only fast boot command?U can boot to recovery by updater app or button combo.

Without PC....
1)Flash stock recovery(search it in xda) by rashr/flashify/t.w.r.p.
2)Rename the ROM file by "update.zip" and place it in the root (best is outside of any folder)of internal memory.
3)reboot in stock recovery.
4)wipe user data (not all data )
5)select update.zip from stock recovery.
I flashed miui ROM by this process many time .But. It is best to flash miui ROM by fastboot..
I tried to flash stock recovery but it stucks on mi logo while flashing through flashify

Did u try it from here.It always work with me.Or you have to search for a compatible stock recovery with ur model for flashing global miui ROM(without PC).
I tried this but it didnt workd
easy..!! flash twrp whichever build you were on.. reboot to twrp, wipe system, data, caches then flash miui8 any official build, you may get error 7 then go back and mount everything choose reboot to recovery again and flash miui8 this time it will be installed showing flashing firmware.
do caches wipe then reboot. done..!!

Stable MIUI, without Computer, Use Xiaomi.eu ROM for your device, they are zip which can be flashed easily with twrp 3.0 !! It's Pure MIUI with some more feature, also it gets update every Friday.

Mi 9T Bricked - No Rom

Hi guys. I accidentaly wiped System and now my phone has no rom on it. I tried to install stock rom from https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com via Fastboot but it won't install because of anti rollback. My Bootloader is unlocked and i have TWRP, can anybody please help me... THX!
If you can boot to TWRP, try to install a MIUI recovery rom: https://mifirm.net/model/davinci.ttt or a custom rom.
Or, try to flash the images with CMD/Terminal.

Dear Alin
Could you describe to us the steps you did to succesfully reflash your device?
In the future in case that happend again... its easy, if you still can enter to TWRP just connect to the PC and transfer any flasheable ROM... Flash it and thats it

The TWRP method didn't work because i wiped everything : system, vendor. etc... my phone had nothing on it, not a single file of the original firmware. When i flashed the rom with TWRP it always booted to TWRP and not the rom , even if the rom was installed successfully. Even when i tried to flash with FlashTool i got the anti rollback error. The CMD/Terminal flash worked for me.

Thanks very much it helped. I have downloaded fastboot Rom and flashed it. I have another big issue, after flashing 10.3.7.0 update I got miui stock recovery Installed so I again.
Flashed twrp from fastboot.
Then format data.
Flash magisk.
And reboot.
But after successful reboot and setup when I choose to use pattern or pin or password as authentication. The device is not recognizing my correct pin or password. It says password incorrect. Please help I am not finding any solution for this.
What is the correct pattern to install recovery to successful magisk install.
Thanks

Why did you used fastboot rom instead of the recovery rom? This way you didn't update the rom but reinstalled it. So I think that the only way to get rid of the password request is to format data partition from recovery and then install magisk. Next time you have to update you have to download the RECOVERY rom, dirty flash it and flash magisk before rebooting to system.

You have to flash twrp reboot to recovery if it asks for a password format data then install magisk. Vbmeta is needed just when you change rom from miui to aosp, so in this case you don't need it

After update to V11.0.4.0.QFJEUXM TWRP no longer available

Hi Guys,
yesterday the new update came out, great.
I of course immediately pulled the zip (source) and installed it with TWRP (source).
So far no problems.
After a while I realized that I no longer had root because the apps stopped working.
When I wanted to boot into the TWRP to reinstall Magisk, I unfortunately found that it was no longer available, but only stock recovery.
Well, I thought to myself and tried to reinstall TWRP (method-twrp-3.3.1-2-davinci-fix), which was fatal, because my cell phone only booted into the Fastboot.
Then I got my cell phone, set up again with the Fastboot method.
Now I'm back to 11.0.4.0 but unfortunately without TWRP and root.
Can someone please describe how I can get TWRP and root again on Android 10?
I am thankful for every help !!!
Same thing happening to me, no matter what I do, stock recovery keeps overwriting TWRP
Oh dear, that doesn't sound good.
I hope there will be a solution to the problem soon.
I don't want to do without TWRP and root.
I wanted to try it according to these instructions "https://miui.blog/redmi-k20/twrp-mi-9t-redmi-k20-vbmeta-mauronofrio/". But don't trust me, I'm afraid that it won't work and I can start all over again.
Flash official TWRP this morning with fastboot commands without problem.
1. reboot in fastboot mode
2. Flash recovery with this command "fastboot flash recovery yourrecovery.img"
3. Reboot in recovery with this command "fastboot boot yourrecovery.img"
Any problems here.
The fact that twrp is lost when flashing official rom (even thought twrp itself) is normal. You just have to reboot into bootloader and flash twrp again and it will be back.
Your problem here is that you are using an old and unofficial twrp build, that has problems on newer roms. Flash official twrp and you'll be fine

Does anyone dare to test this?
Here is the link to the TWRP for our Mi9t

Check it out...
I finally got it
I did the following.
"V11.0.4.0.QFJEUXM" flashed in the TWRP and booted into the system, TWRP will be overwritten.
Now flashed TWRP "twrp-3.3.1-0-davinci.img" in Fastboot and booted into Recovery (TWRP).
To be on the safe side, I had the cell phone booted again into the TWRP in the TWRP.
Then I flashed Magisk "Magisk-v20.3.zip".
Booted cell phone into the system and everything works.

Where did you get the twrp file from?
You can use OrangeFox Recovery if you want a TWRP that can survive after flashing MIUI ROMs or updates :

To install TWRP, is it neccesary to wipe Data (or something else)?
And if Data must be wiped, does it mean that Data will no more be encrypted as originally by MIUI?
I have 11.0.4.0, rooted by Magisk (Magisk installed simply by patching and flashing boot.img, did not need TWRP for, did not wipe Data, etc) and I possibly want to have TWRP but don't want to loose encryption of Data, Widewine L1 and so

You don't need to wipe anything to install a custom Recovery (like TWRP).
TWRP can handle ROM encryption, you just need to install a correct TWRP, and version, for your current MIUI / Android version.
A custom Recovery doesn't change Widevine level.
And TWRP is useful in case of bootloop (because of an installed Magisk module, by example) or if you want to easily reinstall Magisk after ROM update.

Ok thanks, so starting from v11.0.4.0 QFJEUXM, rooted by Magisk (did not wipe Data or so, just patched and flashed boot img), is it ok just to flash (from Fastboot) twrp-3.3.1-0-davinci.img, downloaded from the official site https://twrp.me/davinci/twrp-3.3.1-0-davinci.img
Maybe I could test first by
fastboot boot twrp-3.3.1-0-davinci.img

Something is fishy. IMO, if that official TWRP is really ok for 11.0.4.0, then it should correctly boot by:
fastboot boot twrp-3.3.1-0-davinci.img
But phone rebooted into the dark.
TG, I didn't really flash with, so by long pressing Pow it rebooted to system.
Tried again, no avail
Edit:
Tried the same fastboot boot with
twrp-3.3.1-12-davinci-mauronofrio.img and also OrangeFox-R10.1_1-Stable-davinci.img (obtained by unzipping OrangeFox), but it also reboots to dark and I have to long press Pow to reboot to system

You can install twrp by All In One tool
You can find its thread here itself
I took the official TWRP. " Link "
Flashed in fastboat and then booted the phone with a key combination in TWRP.
With the Fastboot command it didn't work for me either, the cell phone remained black ...
