Open Camera bricked Le Pro 3 - LeEco Le Pro3 Questions & Answers

My phone is a Chinese version Le Pro 3, and it looks like the Open Camera app bricked the phone.
I was taking a picture when the phone suddenly shut down and now does not turn on.
I connected it to charger but there is no led light nor battery progress movement. The phone looks dead. Pressing on power button or power and any volume does not result in anything. The phone is off, non responsive and does not even respond to charging. Is the phone bricked or is there something else I could try?
- This happened 5 days ago as well , also taking picture I think it was Open Camera as well. Plugged the phone to charger and couple of minutes later I was able to revive it
- been on 2 different le eco chargers/USBC cables for the past several hours
- no signs of life
- no charging progress bar
- no vibrations, no Led light
- tried pressing power button for 60 seconds or longer, combination with volume down, up and both volume keys as well.
- the difference between now and 5 days ago is the phone has TWRP, root, and 19s custom USA ROM by Steve Mars.
There are no signs of life, no signs of charging, the phone seems completely dead.

I am doubtful any app can kill the phone just like that. A bad flash of ROM definitely but not app, even system app that could potentially overclock or overvolt the SoC.
It could be a lemon so contact the LeEco and send it back for warranty.
P.S.
I tried Open Camera just weeks ago and it did not kill my phone. I uninstalled it because Google Camera App is still better.

Did you try connecting it to a pc? Maybe something in your phone like the motherboard burnt..

1) No sound or any activity when connected to USB on PC. I also installed qualcomm drivers used for brick recovery but there is nothing coming up in the Ports section of device manager either. Though my PC immediately came up with "power overload on USB" or something like that. I connected a different Le Eco phone, another phone, and a portable hard drive to the same USB port, no issue. This happened multiple times on different ports. Makes me think there could be some short circuit inside the phone?
2) I shot 8-10 photos with Open camera before the first issue. Then after reviving it first time, in the 5 days after that, I shot maybe 50+ photos with open camera. This time, it went down when I was changing lighting type within Open Camera app, even without pressing the shutter. But both cases are connected to Open Camera. I also do not believe the app is faulty as I have been using it for a year on Meizu MX5. I am thinking a memory or CPU leak somehow triggered by the app killed the phone?
My Aliexpress seller wants me to make a video for them to authorize a RMA... video of what? of a dead phone? Ok they can have it, as I see this is a standard procedure on many sites. I am just pissed that a superphone with supposedly superior hardware does this.

Yes just make a video of u pressing Power button and phone not coming to life. And then make video of u plugging in charger and phone not coming to life. Basically make video of the dead phone while u apply your already failed resuscitation procedures. They have to file RMA on the proof from customer who is in remote place by submitting videos submitted by the owner of the device. This is the rule which applies to every electronic/mechanical device purchased through Ali Express. I RMA'd my Quadcopter Drone this way which was dead out of the box.

I have 3 members in my family who use Le Eco Pro 3 North America version. One member of the family's phone bricked twice! I'm afraid the others wont last.

Sorry about that, wasn't clear on my situation. The first phone bricked, I had to send it in for a replacement and the replacement they sent bricked within a month. I wasn't even doing anything like rooting, just normal app usage. The phone works great when it works though.

In my opinion, I think they sended you the same bricked phone, not a new one

Hi, Have you try turn it on by press: Power button + Volume Up, at the same time.
I flashed Miui 8, I power the phone off and Power butoon didn't work. I use the method above to get it back to life.

All key combinations have been tried for hours and hours, even left overnight several with multiple button combinations pressed while on the charger.

Won' t turn on! Tried all suggestions

Yes I have read all posts regarding "Screen Of Death" issue and i have tried all the suggestions. But still, my 10.1 won' t turn on. I have left it drain the bat for 2 days now.
Even if i plug it to the charger there is no sign of battery charging. Hence just blank black screen. any other idea before I have to go to the Service Center. Thanks. Any help would be appreciated.....
Connect the USB to a Windows computer and press Power + Volume Up for 30seconds. Do you hear a Windows "new hardware found" sound?
Thanks... Tried... Still fail. My PC only signaling found new hardware but fail the installation process. I guess because the tab is still not ON. Help....
It seems my PC recognizes the tab but can't find the driver. I can also feel "warm" near the power button area when i connect it to any electricity but still no TURN ON or BATTERY CHARGING INDICATION.
Have you tried to charge it with the wall charger for at least 2hrs and then unplug it and hold powerbutton 10 sec?

Actually, that is what I was expecting as result.
The Power + Volume Up enables the nvflash APX mode, the screen remains totally black. I simply wanted to know if the tablet works and the culprit is just the screen. From what you say, we get the expected results... Windows detects the new hardware so the tablet works.
Now try the opposite: Power + Volume Down, hold it for 30seconds.
If you don't see nothing on the screen, it is probably a screen contact that got lose... you need to service it by Samsung.
yes done that. Still not ON. When I plug it I can feel it is working since I can feel "the warm" but screen still is blank
Then you already know what to do.
No biggie, Samsung will send you a replacement for sure.

yes. In fact now the APX is still working trying to find " a new hardware ". Should I cancel it and try the POWER+VOL DOWN now?
Yes, go ahead.
DONE the Power + Volume Down still not ON. BTW the APX Could not find any driver? Is it normal. Before this happens in fact i can transfer any file with my PC through MTP. Thanks again for your help. Hopefully you still know any other solution.... Keep waiting
The APX driver is included into nvflash package, it does not matter if you install it or not at this point. The advantage of this test is that the APX mode keeps the screen off in purpose, while allowing you to flash the tablet through a CMD window (only if you have an unlocked bootloader). We used this trick to determine if the core of your tablet works... we wanted to isolate the problem related to your screen.
I recommend you to contact Samsung and have the tablet serviced. Some screens lose a contact point when you drop the tablet by accident or if a soldering point is weak... The heat generated inside is enough sometimes to sever a lose circuit connection. Either ways, you do NOT want to keep this tablet.
I hope you did not flashed the tablet with some custom ROM, or else Samsung might void your warranty.
OK. Then the only thing i can do is go to SC.......Hmmmmm I am still using stock rom but unfortunately i did root the tab already. Is it bad judgement??? Thanks anyway.
I really hope it is only the screen connection lose issue. But just for curiousity. If only the screen keeps OFF, does it mean I actually can still check that my gtalk on the tab still connects? How this thing works??? since i just check with my phone my gtalk on tab is off.
You ordered the tablet online from Samsung or you bought it from a retailer like Best Buy?
I bought it from retailer. BTW is there any kind of USB JIG for the tab similar to SGSII? I just thought maybe this can help solve the screen of death issue. Ha ha ha ....
Perfect, just go see the store and explain to them nicely the issue. I'm sure they will exchange it for you.
Forget about the JIG or anything else, your screen is gone wacko... What you do now is try to force a blind guy drive a car... Just go exchange the tablet.
Ok I' ll do that. Thanks for your info and help. Hopefully problem will be solved soon.
I had the same issue but I couldn't return to the store so I went through support. They don't have parts yet so they just send you a different unit. In total it took 2.5 weeks for me and I ended up with an unlocked unit

Damn, it took 2.5 weeks to get a new unit?
The good news is, it's recoverable. The bad news is, it's going to take a long time.
Keep it off the charger.
Hold down the power button to get it cycling through APX mode while plugged into your PC (can hear the USB connection sound in Windows).
Tape the power switch down, verify it's still going into APX mode after taped, then unplug it.
Leave the tablet alone for a few days. Think about puppies, chocolate, bouncing breasts, whatever makes you happy, and forget about the Tab.
Come back, plug it back into the PC, see if you still hear it connect. If so, walk away again, come back the next day.
When it finally stops going into APX mode, plug it into a wall charger and leave it alone for about an hour, it should start charging normally, and once it's got charge showing, it'll power up normally.
Rule of thumb is it'll take about a full day for every 10% of charge that was on the battery when it went down, if you keep the power button taped down.

[Q] power button

Hello, is there any way to get my BRAVO to power on with one of the volume buttons? My power button only works every great once in a while, and now, if it powers off, I have to get to the bootmenu on the blue light before it goes to the battery charge indicator while it's plugged into a charger. then I have to fiddle with the power button while I have REBOOT selected. I would buy another one and install it, but I fear it may be the connector on the main board, and I don't want to break anything else while trying. the button seems to click just fine. it just doesn't register on the phone.
I use a screen off app and the volume button wake when the phone is turned.
all suggestions are appreciated.
Use Rom Toolbox by JRummy. There's a Rebooter widget that allows you to Reboot, Fast Reboot, Reboot Recovery\Bootmenu, Power Off, Restart SystemUI. I have the Pro version (highly recommended app to have), but I think the Lite\Free version has that feature as well. On CM10, select Rom Toolbox from the Widget Screen (app drawer) then select Rebooter -- for some reason, selecting Rebooter from the Widget Screen doesn't work (never shows up on desktop). Its a really good widget to have if you're running Paranoid and changing up your dpi values.
Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure my BRAVO has burned up now. about 5 hours ago it just shut off while I was using it, and now I can't get the charge LED to come on. The shutting off thing really isn't anything new,but the LED thing is. It used to shut off a lot; sometimes I couldn't get it to stay on for more than five minutes, and other times it would be fine for a couple weeks.
I finally took the phone apart figuring that it couldn't hurt anything since the phone wont turn on anyway. The power button itself was physically fine. (at least from what I can tell) I didn't see anything out of the ordinary.
I was wanting a faster phone anyway, but I really liked that phone. These BRAVOs really have some great development going on for them. Thanks for the help Skeevy.

I'm beginning to think that this phone is possessed. it was sitting on my desk not even plugged in and it just turned on for no reason. absolutely no reason whatsoever.
That really sucks. You weren't running a Defy CM10 Custom Kernel rom were you? If so, that may be the problem -- it ships with the 526 battd and once it fully dies you have to charge on a wall charger and pray. I almost had that issue myself -- installed rom before work and forgot to push the 525\520 battd. Luckily I made it home with 3% battery left and was able to push and charge -- well, I accidentally set it with 644 permissions and the led wouldn't come on, phone wouldn't charge, yada yada...had 1% left when I did the 755 chmod...makes me wonder if that was your problem as well. If it was (wrong permissions on battd) your only solutions are the MacGuyver cable\Motorola Factory Cable or use another Bravo\Defy to charge your battery on an external battery charger.
I really hope you're not screwed. 2013 is looking to be a good year for the platform. Custom Kernels, Jellybean, AOSP. Luckily Bravo's are really cheap now. I've seen some on eBay for cheaper than the parts to fix them.
Good luck on finding a new phone. Every time I find a phone I want it either AT&T modified it and locked the bootloader --
Xperia TL (I think L means locked down), its not for my network, or it costs too much for my budget (Note 2). I'd have a TL on the way if it weren't for the locked bootloader -- Thanks AT&T, you're awesome. After looking, I can pick up an HTC One X for $49.95 -- may be my new phone.

The one thing I didn't like about the one x was the non removable battery. What's your thought on that?
As far as I know I'm on the stock kernel; I'm on your cm7 Kang. I really can't figure this thing out. It's still shutting of on me after being on for about two minutes( that's if it even makes it past the red "M") , but if I plug it into a wall charger it powers on and stays on and doesn't shut off until I unplug it, and then other times it stays on for about 30 seconds after I unplug the charger then shuts off. I might just need a new battery. it was fine the day before last.
I've seen the ones on ebay, the one just needs a digitizer, and I have that. I would have to go with t-mobile to get another phone unless I save up.I had a new until I hard bricked it a couple weeks ago. It was a Pantech BURST that I bought unlocked for $160. the clockwork mod that was built for it rewrote all the boot partitions when it wasn't supposed to. So now I have a $160 paper weight sitting on my desk.
Also, when did all this stuff about kernels start happening. I was gone for a month, and now I have no idea about whats going on.

That and the no sdcard slot makes it a deal breaker....Its one of the phones that I can get cheap on upgrade, but those 2 "features" make me not want it -- my Bravo has more storage than the OneX -- 18gb via sdcard and that's not enough for me (I keep 12Gb of music on my sdcard, would be 15gb but I only have the one 16gb card and need room for nandroids and roms.) Perhaps I'll just hit someone with my 3lb sledge and take their Note 2.

Either bad battery or bad connections (wipe them with alcohol) I guess. Picked up a battery for $7 last night (found them for cheaper, but I was already on newegg getting a 4 pin to sata power converter -- only have one sata power cable on my power supply and either I use it for my 2tb hard drive or dvd drive -- 2tb drive won).
Looks like the Pantech Burst is easy to brick...Apparently CWM 6 flashes a bad recovery. CWM 5 reported to work just fine. Sucks that there's no PIT or SBF type file for you to use. Maybe one will be leaked and that'll unbrick you.
About 2 months ago MS2 user Czechop managed to make a 2nd-boot module load a custom kernel WITH radio. Sources were released about a week later and Quarx had a custom kernel up and running in no time. Defy JB 2nd-Boot roms run an updated 2.6 kernel and a 3.0 kernel is in the works . Sadly, the photo camera doesn't work (video and panorama do) and the phone acts like a Defy with 4 capacitive buttons.
If you want to flash a Defy 2nd-Boot rom, you have to replace /system/bin/battd with the one from our CM7 (necessary for the battery to charge properly), same thing with /system/etc/mot_ise_imager_cfg.bin (to use the limited camera). I use them as my daily rom on the Bravo and don't have any issues with them, but no camera doesn't bother me and the 4 capacitive buttons aren't that annoying.
The capacitive bug is due to using the Defy Plus devtree with the kernel (Bravo devtree hangs on boot). Not sure about the camera bug. Read the last 2 pages of the JB thread over in the dev section for more info.
Darn! Part of my power button actually broke off inside the phone now. the other day this wouldn't have been as much of a problem because when I plugged it in to a computer, or the charger, it would boot right up, but now it goes to the battery charge indicator. I can get to recovery, but with no power button I cant do anything when I'm there. I really don't want to part with this phone. I realize that I could probably push the twrp recovery through ADB so that I could still flash stuff, but is their anyway to modify the phone or kernel so that it will power on when any of the physical buttons are pressed?
I love this phone, but being dropped on concrete everyday really cut its life short.

The easiest way is plugging the usb cable (which is connected to your computer) to your phone while holding volume down button. No need to press power button. From download mode you can boot to recovery etc with the help of your pc.

This sounds more and more like a case for Yota's repair center. If there wasn't something broken in the device one of these methods described in this thread should have worked.
Sounds like hardware to me.
I had the same issue. Left it on the table with the e-ink screen on top, came back hours later, the clock was 90 minutes behind and the phone dead. Resetting with 10 Seconds ON/OFF button didn´t work. Had to send it in. 2 weeks later got it back. They said they had to change the whole motherboard, even got a new IMEI with it. Then a few days later I tried the main camera and it did not work, error message by Android, unaccessible camera... Then by pressure on the camera it worked sometimes, sometimes only misty lines, sometimes splitscreen mode, sometimes not. Maybe a mistake by the service while reassembling the phone? Anyway, had to send it in AGAIN, got it back, sold it on ebay with 130 Euros loss and bought a new white one because I love the principle and options of the second screen so much. The white one is a newer batch, they say with some new (and probably more reliable?) hardware, so up until now I am completely satisfied, no error for 6 weeks (fingers crossed...)
My old black one was maybe a monday batch

Hi Petra. Since you're using a Yotaphone as well, could I ask you to do a small favour for me please? After I had my YP rooted I accidentally deleted the system app "back screen manager". My back screen has stopped working since then. It'd be fantastic if you could just extract the system app from your phone and send it to me so that I can manually place the system app on my phone root folder. You don't have to root your phone for this. All you need is an App extractor from play store. And it will take less than 5 mins to extract and send it to me(Assuming that you are well versed with android OS). Here's my email address [email protected] or you could send me a link to the shared file. Do let me know if you are willing or not. Thanks a ton.

Bricked Le Pro 3 727 (Blue Screen of Death)

Hello friends,
My LeEco Le Pro3 (727) bricked two days ago and I haven't had any luck turning it back on. It was running LineageOS 8.1 latest official build with an unlocked bootloader, Magisk 16.0, TWRP 3.2.1, and OpenGapps ARM64 8.1 nano. Immediately prior to bricking I was setting it up for bluetooth with my car and was trying to run Google Maps through voice command. As I directed Google Maps to take me to a location, the phone froze, the screen got all "fuzzy" and I got the dreaded blue screen of death.
From that point on I have not been able to turn the phone back on. When I press the power button it will vibrate every 5-10 seconds as though it will turn on but it never does. Ive tried everything I can think of to get to work again including:
- Pressing power button for 2 min, 5 mins, 10 mins
- Pressing power button + vol up (recovery) for 2 min, 5 mins, 10 mins
- Pressing power button + vol down (fastboot) for 2 min, 5 mins, 10 mins
- Pressing power button + vol up + vol down (QFIL MODE) -> Installing Qualcomm driver, downloading "FlashOne2.0", flashing all versions of "qfil files" that I could find but still unable to boot up
- Pressing all different button combinations while plugged in to computer/charger
- Using different cords/chargers/usb ports
- Leaving it to charge overnight/full day then trying to boot up
- Leaving it sitting not charging for a full day then trying to boot up
At this point I'm starting to think it might be a hardware issue but who knows..
Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Where did you buy it from.
I don't have much to add here it seems like you have done everything that you could

Thank you for the reply.
It was purchased from a local retailer here in the United States through Google Express. Fortunately I should still be able to return it for a full refund but I would rather have a working phone than my money back.
No flashboot either. It's like the phone just decided to quit working one day. Tried holding power while plugging in USB as well and no change.

My one did the same, the issue was motherboard. You should send it back to repair.

The conclusion I'm reaching at this point too. I'll see what the return policy.
Well if it will not turn on it is hardware issue you should be able to return it.

That is so strange. The screen going fuzzy like that is indicative of a hardware issue, IMO. I saw that on my laptop once, but that was because I hit the screen too hard. Never seen a BSOD on an Android device before. TIL.
I assume you've already tried an adb logcat. Were you using the original LeEco cable? I heard it has issues since it's not up to spec. 99% hardware failure, but I can't help but think it has something to do with driver communication confusing the device and causing hardware failure (?) if that's even possible.
Just a final update for those curious.
After leaving the phone alone for two days I plugged it into the charger and low and behold it started vibrating and booted up by itself. It was running a Chinese developers editions 720 rom due to the QFIL File I had flashed in my earlier in my attempt to fix it. Battery was drained so I let it charge for a while and everything was fine until I attempted to restart the phone. As the boot animation was loading, I got the blue screen of death for a second time.
I took a quick picture, the phone shut off itself off, and same as before it wouldn't boot again. As other users have suggested it appears to be a hardware issue, likely with the motherboard. Fortunately I was still able to return the phone (purchased through Google Express via a local retailer) and received a full refund. I've since bought another Le Pro3 (727) and hopefully when that one comes in, it won't have any issues.
Thanks to all the users who left suggestions/tips.

You bought the same phone again? :good: You're courageous, lol.
i been experiencing the exact problem like your on my x720, as i boot up the system or enterting the recovery mode the screen go fuzzy on loading screen and shut itself off completly, i can still able access fastboot. As i left it for a while the phone will be able to almost finish the boot then ending it all with a blue screen.
Have anyone found a way to fix this DIY since my phone has past the guarantee plan ?

Is my Note 4 dead?

Hello dear community,
I'm posting there because I have some doubts about my phone and i'd like some answers from you.
1 month ago, I was charging my phone. When it reached 100% battery, It was fine but the problem is when I was trying to press "power" to turn it on but It didn't want to. So, I removed the battery because I couldn't even turn it off. When I tried to restart it again, it didn't want to. No reaction to the "power" button.
I followed EVERY tips on Google but none worked. I also tried to change my battery but nothing. I tried also to connect it to my computer, it was detected but my phone didn't turn on.
So, I guess my phone is dead unless if there is a solution to make it working? Also before that, my phone was becoming very laggy and when it had a small lag, it was turning off and was rebooting.
Thank you in advance for your answers.

I have mustered some conclusions about your phone based on what you typed:
1st claim: The power button no longer works anymore
•Reason: "... when I was trying to press "power" to turn it on... it didn't want to... When I tried to restart it again, it didn't want to. No reaction to the "power" button."
—Seems like you're gonna have to find another Note 4 and replace its motherboard with the Note 4 whose power button doesn't work anymore after 5 years.
But before spending, I would like you to try this method from a Youtube comment:
"... you'll just have to keep the charger [cable connected] on [your phone] while you take off the battery, and put it back after; then, remove the charger quickly..."
—————
2nd claim: The screen no longer works
•Reason: "I tried also to connect it to my computer, it was detected but my phone didn't turn on."
—If the phone is charged, seeing nothing but blackness, but you still see an emitting LED light on the top-left corner, that's a sign that it still works, just not the screen. So I would suggest that you buy a new screen and replace it with your old one. If you think you can't, then go to a phone repair shop and let others do the repairing.
—————
3rd claim: The motherboard is dead
•Reason: "... before that, my phone was becoming very laggy and when it had a small lag, it was turning off and was rebooting."
—The motherboard might be dead if these are happening, but I don't think this is the right reason unless the first two conclusions are proven to be true. If the first two conclusions are proven to be false, then the motherboard is dead, and you may either buy another Note 4 motherboard or get a new phone.

Thank you for your answer.
To answer you clearly about all the points you clarified, there is no led light appearing when putting it on charge and I also tried the "Youtube comment" but nothing.
So I think, the motherboard is dead as you mentioned. I just don't understand how it died after a charge but as I saw on Google, it's a general problem on Galaxy Note 4, so I think i'm not surprised at all. It's been since 2015 I had it.
Thank you for your time and to have solved my doubts about the death about my phone.

Put in cold fridge for 30 min without battery, then try to turn it on. If not, try the cardboard method under the emmc chip (search youtube)

Is this a serious thing ? (fridge)
I did the oven trick on my n910t. I left my phone stuck in the grill of my truck when I changed the brakes. I took it for a test drive and ended up running over the phone. Me being a noob at the time didn't know the AT&T Note 4 would not unlock Bootloader for custom roms or custom recoveries. I purchased the AT&T Note and was sorely disappointed there after. Flash 2019 I still have the motherboard for my note that I ran over. I can only get in to go into download mode and only when it was plugged in. I flash custom ROM or custom recovery and it would say would pass but it would just boot loop and boot loop. So I read somewhere where you can put it in the oven for around 5 to 6 minutes at about 200° and that it would settle any of the cracked solder that be around the emmc or anywhere else on the board. So I tried it. I stuck it in two different times at five minutes a piece, pull the board out and let it set for a day. I installed the board just a little while ago and she fired right up. It's amazing
I've recently replaced the motherboard on my N910F with a used one bought from AliExpress. As it's used I've no idea how long it will last but for £30 was worth a try.
It was pretty straightforward replacing the motherboard using one of the tear down guides on YouTube.
