No updates so far, no B126 or B135 - Huawei Mate 9 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi Guyz
can you help and explain why my device got no updates till now? B126 released few month ago and the B135 followed but i got nothing.
Am i missing something i got the phone from Dubai and live in UK
model is: MHA-L29C185B110

Seems like the sim card region matters

Yes papped is right, your phone region is set to middle East but living in UK will not show your phone to the OTA . changing your region in the "cust" file requires rooted phone and a sound experienced individual.

You can use FunkyHuawei to update to the latest version, if you aren't getting OTA updates. I don't think B135 was released for your version -- it's B126 for the C185, which is currently the latest. You won't have to unlock bootloader, root, or void your warranty to use FunkyHuawei.
Theoretically, I think that you will eventually get OTA updates through Huawei, regardless of region. But since not even eRecovery works on non-Chinese models as of yet, FunkyHuawei's the only option for right now.

EE OTA Update (UK)?

Hi
The latest firmware build for EE UK (EVR) (G935FXXU1BPLJ/G935FEVR1BPK5/G935FXXU1BPL1/G935FXXU1BPLJ) was released on SamMobile around Christmas time.....I'm still not getting any update notification via OTA.
I don't know whether or not to wait for the OTA to come through, or just go for an Odin flash.
I was wondering typically, how long does it take for an update to come through over OTA after it goes up on SamMobile?
Has anyone else received the PLJ update on EE over OTA yet?
I think the distribution time differs per carrier.. For me, (T-Mobile NL) the firmware is often available after it being on Sammobile for one day at max. But sometimes carriers only allow a certain amount of people to upgrade per hour/day, not sure why. (maybe to prevent server overload)
I tend to agree with you mate.
I've since found this quite interesting EE article which seems to confirm this
I like the network but their software updates plain suck.
Sent from my SM-G935F using XDA-Developers mobile app
I noticed the same, EE update but not pushed to my handset. I was about to download the firmware and Odin then found a guide that said to use Samsung Smart Switch for Windows. I installed that and although the update was not available to me via OTA through the Smart Switch application I was able to update.

Huawei GRA-L09C470B210 update to Android 6

Trying to update GRAL09-C470B210 from Android 5.0.1 and Emui 3.1 to Android 6 and Emui 4. For starters. If there's more to update even better. I've looked all over the threads and can't find my build and model and the update. I've looked on Huawei's website. I've done the phone Emui update search (no updates). Firmware Finder only has the GRA-L09 C470B210 OTA listed.
I'm new to updates so don't understand all the root and bootlog lingo.
Help!
C470 would indicate South-East Asia or Southern-Pacific (Aus/NZ) region - is this right? Also, is it Vodafone-branded by any chance?
If yes to both above, then Vodafone may not have released a Marshmallow (Android 6) update for the P8 in your area.
If you wanted, it is possible to manually update to a non-branded European firmware version (C432) if you like (see Steve039's post HERE dated 2016-Apr-24), & keep updating manually from then on, but I'm not sure how this is done safely (usually it's not recommended to update directly from one region's firmware to another, but it seems to work fine for some. Also, if it's a branded phone, then it usually also needs to be debranded before updating).
Once you are on a non-branded European firmware version (B200 or greater), you can update to the latest Marshmallow version, which is B393 at present: [Firmware] Huawei P8 GRA-L09 B393 27/02/17
It was purchased from eBay a few years ago as an International model. It is unbranded. I think it was either from a seller either in Hong Kong or Taiwan. I don't recall specifically. The hardware version is Grace UL VN1 if that makes any difference. It is unlocked. But I have never rooted it. I had updated it once, but did not keep track of what the actual update was for. I think it was to update to the B210 designation. Thank you for your help, I will look into the Euro conversion and see if it's something that I can do. I definitely want to update at least to Android 6.
No problem, I've done a search & can confirm for the Taiwanese version, B210 was the last official update released for the GRA-L09: http://consumer.huawei.com/tw/support/downloads/index.htm?keyword=GRA-L09
So, you should go for the European version if you are able to safely update to it. Make sure to make a restorable data backup (of texts, contacts, photos, etc as applicable) before attempting the update.
So, since my phone is unbranded, I should be able to switch to the European firmware, just above the B200, then make the jump all the way to the latest firmware?
And this would be done via a Local Update, correct?
I'm reading through everything in the meantime, thanks for all your help.
Yes, should be possible, but don't try anything for now until I (or someone else) can confirm it's safe to do & the procedure to follow.
The procedure may involve initially unlocking the bootloader & rooting your phone, but more on that later.

Version compatibility? MHA-L09C900B186 to MHA-L09 8.0.0.324 (C900)

My Mate 9 build version is MHA-L09C900B186 (unlocked international version). I see on Developer Team MT there is a version: MHA-L09 8.0.0.324 (C900) which seems to be Oreo for the "C900", correct?
However Firmware Finder says "not approved"...
Has anyone received an OTA or updated the same version (C900) to Oreo?
Oreo is beta, so unless you enroll the beta program and get in you won't be able to install it normally.
You'll have to use HWOTA.

Not according to this: https://www.getdroidtips.com/huawei-mate-9-android-8-0-oreo/
It says OTA, not beta.
And my question remains unanswered...

Their official non beta update has not rolled out yet except for the Chinese variant AFIK and those are quotas, it hasn't rolled out to any other variant as of yet. That article was not very clear about that. When it has rolled out for your variant you will know it as it will show up in settings, system update. All those Oreo ROMs on ff are betas so they are not authorized unless you are enrolled in the beta program. You can install them, but only through the HWOTA method. If you want the official OTA update be patient, it will get to you.

You are correct that it is Oreo for the C900 variant the reason ff says "not approved" is because it is a beta version.
Still no update for the C900?
And still no update for this darn phone, when is Huawei going to release an update? Android "P" is out already and no bloody update yet for this phone.
Same here. No update for this phone.
Even worse: the security patches are from April 2017.... thats a year ago. Really bad.

Hmm. You have generic international model without binding to specific region.
As I know, it has poor update history.
Maybe, it would be better to rebrand onto C432 (Europe) region.
I think I have the same international unspecified region (although I though I was Middle East) and have been on 181 all the time until today.
Then I received an update to b182 then b188 then 370c then 371c one after the other - just now.

Probably, Huawei will force C185 region to Oreo.
According experience, there are some factors which decrease chances to get update. Have C185 region while living in Kenya is one of them. I have C636 region's ROM and living in Russia. Also, I have problems with automatic updates and have to use FF to update. Not a big problem at all
6 hours after I wrote previous post, I received update on my device.
Without FF !
If you should want to change from C900 to something else, But I worked for me. I have a phone that I found was IMEI registered to the middle east but during the IMEI checks via FF I found that C900 and C567 worked on mine.
My phone was originally received as C900.
Just try your IMEI against separate ROMs and you'll find the compatible ones.

Yeah. Huawei approves imei from other regions, but you have to do rebranding procedure first to go onto foreign region's ROM.
Checked again and the firmware MHA-L09C432B363 is "approved for installation" through FF onto my MHA-L09C900B186, will this work?
Or should I use Funkyhuawei (or other method?) to rebrand?

Different region => rebrand
Damn Huawei! This phone STILL has not been updated after all this time, that's the last time I will ever buy a Huawei.

Stuck in V10M-SEA-XX

Hi guys,
This is the last version i have on my phone h870ds and havent received an update since november, but i've seen in other forums security updates in january and march, does anyone else have the same issue? Is this a region thing?
you not alone. TWN is the same version V10M - thought it says 1st October for me. Pretty much forgotten regions I think!
Just flash another Region, if you're able to handle this. I did it also by myself. I got the TWN v10m version like you, now i have v10v sea global 1st March Patch. LG left the China Market, maybe also the Updates.

I have considered that - just keeping an eye out if/when OREO gets released for the TWN region then saves me messing around flashing other regions. Ain't you might as well flash with a KOREAN version then you should get OREO straight away? Unless the SEA is KOREAN - if thats the case, haven't you got an opportunity to update to OREO?
Im on the same boat... SEA is south east asia, wich means Indonesia, Malasya, Singapur, Vietnam, Thailand among others, its a kinda big market to be left alone all things consider... Someone should ask LG about it, since my phone is from that region, and my LG support on my country at least sucks... otherwise i would do it myself...
Edit: From a quick search on lg firmwares site i found that many other LG products got updates on firmware for SEA versions as old as this past month.. so i dont think it stopped updating phones...
same here! just wating for oreo to flash another region...
So we should still receive Oreo even if the security patches stopped?

not necessary, but when Oreo get released, you may choose region which get an update first

And if we flash to another region do we still receive OTA's or we need to keep flashing firmwares everytime?
My G6 is from the HKG region, is there a way to flash another region?
both HKG and SEA can get Oreo update now via LG bridge

S8 stuck on October update

Since October 2018 I stopped receiving updates via OTA. I'm thinking about updating the phone with Odin but I don't want to trip Knox so I don't really know what version of the Rom to install.
My S8 is a SM-G950F unlocked with CSC - DBT, that's all I know. And when I check for updates it says: Current version: G950FXUU4CRJ5/G950FOXM4CRJ3/G950FXXU4CRI9.
What rom do I need to flash?

Have you tried manual update in settings?
You could also try Samsung's smart switch to update to latest version.
If you want to download firmware and use Odin then use either sammobile.com or updato.com. or samfirm.
Using Odin to flash official stock rom will not trip your Knox.
I normally use updato for my firmware or samfirm
https://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model
Latest version I think for Germany DBT is G950FXXU4DSCB ( March ) android version 9 (pie).
I've tried manual update and Smart Switch too and no success. It says I'm on the latest update. I guess I'll try Odin and flash Pie.
I am also facing the same issue. Mine is SM-G950FD. I bought it online, not from official channels. How about you? I have a small suspicion if Samsung is blacklisting phones purchased unofficially. I hope I am wrong.
Well I bought mine from Amazon Germany from a verified seller and for a few months I received updates, but since October 2018 no more. Why would they blacklist my phone?
Sorry. I didn't mean to imply that they are blacklisting. I was just being a bit paranoid thinking may be Samsung blacklisted my phone since I bought it unofficially.
I have a new theory. Looks like many people who bought phones from one country (UAE in particular) had their phone sensors bricked after an OTA update while they were in a different country. That may explain why Samsung is not updating my phone (mine is from UAE).
