Case that works with Gear VR? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answers

I currently have the Spigen Neo Hybrid case (very happy with it - small size, doesn't obscure edges, less slippery on back). My minor annoyance is that I have to remove the case whenever I want to use the Gear VR. I know it's an intentional tight fit to line up the phone, but does anyone know of a case that will work with the VR?

No way, the last screen protector I had didn't even work with Gear VR (it would peel up on the bottom every time I put my phone in the headset) like you said it's just way too tight of a fit. I'd be surprised if a skin worked let alone any case.

Seido unskinned holster + Bodyguardz/Invisible shield... would it fit?

Has anyone tried using the Seido holster with a adhesive skin like the Bodyguards or Invisible shield coating? I assume the skin is very thin but then the holster may be very tight and may not allow even the slightest addition in size (0.2 mm per Invisible shield website).

Sediosedio, can you comment on the holster if it will allow the 0.2mm?
Thanks
FYI, it does.
Just to let you know I wanted to do this exact same setup.
The good news is it does fit... the bad news is that you may be unhappy with the invisible shield.
Do a seach for my posts there is one recently describing my experience with the shield. Long story short, it doesn't cover much of the device (hardly nothing on the sides) and it doesn't really give a nice clean look when installed (unless you have access to a cleanroom with 0% dust particles in the air).
It would have been nice if it did work, as protecting the back of the phone from scratches would have been nice (as that area is exposed in the holster). Also the constant moving in and out of the holster MAY rub against the top part of the phone and cause the shield to slowly peel off...on the flip side it may be lessening wear on the phone case itself.
I am sending mine back via money-back guarantee today and have already ordered the Seido rubberized case. Unfortunately their standard holster does NOT work with their case (it is 1mm thick) so I had to order the combo to get the specialized holster too.
So, I have an extra holster for an uncased phone....if anyone wants to buy it...
I have the Invisible shield and the Seidio rubberized case. Both fits together well.
I went with the rather expensive invisible shield since I know their products and simply licked it for the apple stuff which is lying around at home.

Seidio Innocase II Review

I wasn't able to find anyone else using this case so I figured I'd give it a shot to see if it's any good. Seidio seems to make very good products and this case is right up there with the rest in quality and protection.
Assembly:
It's a 2 part case, one half slides down from the top of the phone and the other half slides on from the bottom. Both halves lock together on the sides and on the back. It's very easy to put on and take off.
Fit:
The case fits PERFECT on the phone. If you have the invisible shield on your phone it will NOT fit. The inside of the case has a felt lining to protect the finish on the phone. You won't feel like your going to scratch your phone when you take the case on or off. The case also wraps around to the front so it's protecting every edge and corner.
Feel:
It's a "hard" case but flexible, as seidio says. The material isn't rubber but it's soft and does feel somewhat like it's rubber. I love how the phone feels, i'm not concerned about it slipping out of my hands at all.
Durability:
I've only had the case for about a week now and I haven't put it through any rigorous testing... I hope I never do. On the other hand my girlfriend pulled the sheets off of the bed really fast and there went my treo pro flying accross the room on to the carpet floor The phone is perfectly fine though so it passed it's first test.
All together I'd give the phone a 10/10 rating. At $30 + shipping some people would argue that it's too much. You get what you pay for sometimes and this case is certainly worth every penny.
Other notes:
You may want to invest in a screen protector as well. I went with the screen protector seidio offers and I like it a lot. It's only the size of the screen so it doesn't cover from the top down to the palm button. But it gets the job done very nicely.

How do you pack it around...

Just in a pocket? In a case? Does it need a screen protector or is it scratch proof? Rumor has it, Telus is getting it in Canada soon, will pick one up, but wondering if I need a case/sleeve/protector, which are best?
I don't use screen protectors. I use a pouch for general protection when in pocket, etc., but I don't believe in screen protectors - phone has to serve me, and not vice versa. Also, the screen seems to be made from either glass or very hard plastic, so it is not an issue, I think. Screen protectors do make phone look and feel crappier.
I just carry it around in my pocket, no screen protector, case etc.
So far after two months, not one scratch. Everything is still in mint condition.
My previous phones (Touch Dual, Samsung i780, Saumng i600) all got scratched very easily. The Hero seems to be a lot more resistant
I put on the htc screen protector after a couple of days and it ruined the sensitivity, so took it off straight away. Had it since day one (Early august) and no scratches.
However, the metal around the edges is rather soft. I've got quite large (cosmetic) dings on both top corners, so I would recommend a case, since the gel ones are pretty sturdy/cheap/nice. However, i'm really not too bothered by them, so I still take it out fairly often
But if your not going to drop it, then no worries
Get a screen protector, get a silicon gel case. Mine resided in my pocket for a week before I got them, one scratch on the left hand side of the screen as a result.
Its common sense unless you have the money to waste buying new phones.

What do you keep in your pocket? I've kept mine on its own since my old nokia 5510 or whatever, this reduces the likelyhood of scratches etc.
I carry a little keychain torch, didnt think there was anything sharp enough on it, apparently I was wrong
Silicon case I would say pretty much essential but I wouldn't bother with any kind of screen protector. The silicon is good also in that it gives you more grip on the device but bad in that if you always have your phone on vibrate it kind of absorbs some of the motion so you don't feel it (or hear it buzzing) so easily.
i have it in a simple microfibre bag in my pocket. the microfibre is nice because everytime i pull it out the screen is cleaned from all that grease and dirt... also i don't have to worry scratching it when it isn't alone in its pocket (which happens occasionally, at work i carry a second phone for example). i wouldn't put my key or anything else with sharp edges in the same pocket though, the pouch is only fabric...
i don't use a screenprotector, didn't get one with the phone on t-mobile germany, and the screen has a way to good haptic to cover it with anything...
running good so far, but it's been only three weeks.
Microfibre bag is interesting, where'd you get it? I like that idea, very light, adds no bulk at all plus the cleaning bonus. And I'm sure it's good at eliminating minor scratches that would come from a coin or something left in pocket. I'd want one very form fitting of course.

can you guys link me to a good silicone case? I installed the invisible shield on mine yesterday.. did not notice any degradation in sensitivity
I despise the body cases and screen protectors. I generally don't keep the devices longer than 6-12 months so they rarely get torn up at all.
I use a simple leather, blackberry case for the hero and used a similar case for my Pre which I was glad to get rid of.

My Note 10+ case reviews

I have purchased a lot (way too many) cases for my Note 10 + Aura Glow 5G and so I thought I would share my favorites, daily drivers, garbage, and disappointments.
[Amazon] Meifigno Magic Series - It's a foggy black slightly see through case with a soft smooth matte finish. It is a case I keep handy pretty much when I'm going to more formal work events as it somewhat hides the flashy Aura Glow but you can still see through it somewhat and it's extremely durable while still being fashionable. it's not a cheap TPU it's very well made. $15.99
[Amazon] Spigen Ultra Hybrid - TPU on the sides yet very hard clear back to show the Aura Glow. This is my "go to the gym" case as it's got solid protection, is see through, and it feels solid in the hand w/ zero slip. $11.99
[Amazon] Design Skin Genuine Leather Phone Case and Card Holder for Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus, with Elastic Hand Strap for Extra Grip - Black - This case I had VERY high hopes for but in the end this was my biggest disappointment. At $24.99 I expected something perfect w/ this hand strap but the sides were flimsy (think car mount side bending, and the metal bars on the back are so big that wireless charging was impossible for all of my various chargers.
[Amazon] Galaxy Note 10 Plus Case, Salawat Slim PU Leather Vintage Shockproof Phone Case Cover Lightweight Soft TPU Bumper Hard PC Hybrid Protective Case for Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ 5G 6.8inch (Dark Brown) This case looks very nice but it's all for show. The fake leather will fool anyone looking at it however it's a bit odd to hold as the leather folds into the black edges which are then very sharp which constantly catches my skin. Good protection and I will use it from time to time But not often at all. $9.99
[Amazon] ESR Mimic Series Compatible with Galaxy Note 10 Plus Case, 9H Tempered-Glass Back Cover, Flexible TPU Bumper, Hybrid Case for The Samsung Galaxy Note 10+/ 10 Plus /5G 6.8 inch (2019), Clear
Now this is a work of art. If you want the best looking case to show off your Aura Glow it's this one and will still give you solid protection. It actually has a 9H Tempered Glass back (finger print magnet but easy to wipe). It honestly doesn't get better than this. Great button feel too. This is my daily driver. $18.99
[Amazon] ESR Metal Kickstand Compatible with Galaxy Note 10 Plus Case, Vertical and Horizontal Stand, Reinforced Drop Protection,Flexible TPU Case for Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ / 10 Plus / 5G 6.8" (2019),Clear This is my primary travel case due to it's incredibly solid feel for great protection, it's clear, and the kick stand is the best I have ever used as you can use it in many different angles as well as in Portrait mode! Additionally the stand is placed in a spot that allows for wireless charging on all of my chargers. This is the heaviest case I use, but granted the kickstand is metal so it's worth it. The additional gripping area due to the stand make the phone feel solid in your hand more than any other case I have. This could easily be the only case someone could have and never think of getting another. $18.99
[Amazon] Spigen Ultra Hybrid S Designed for Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus Case/Galaxy Note 10 Plus 5G Case (2019) - Crystal Clear - I love Spigen cases, but this one was just hot garbage as you would buy it for the stand and the stand is crap. Move on. $11.99
[Amazon] Eonfine Galaxy Note 10+ Plus Case,Built-in Screen Protector Heavy Duty Shockproof Rugged Cover for Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Plus/Note 10 Plus 5G (Black+Clear)(Fingerprint Unlock with Fingerprint Film) This case is OK and I will only use it when I'm traveling internationally to Mexico or somewhere where I know I'll be on a beach a lot or doing some sports. It's fingerprint friendly for unlocking. It's not a big winner but will do the trick. $16.99
[Amazon] ESR Essential Zero Compatible with Galaxy Note 10 Plus Case, Made with Slim, Clear, and Soft TPU, Flexible Silicone Case for The Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ - It's a TPU case, works just fine, I like it, and use it if I'm doing some gym workouts but it's not my 1st choice as I like the other ESR case w/ the hard back more for the gym. It's just a bit slimmer. $10.99
[Ebay] Hybrid Shockproof Armor Kickstand Case Cover, it's cheap, $8, ok for someone that just wants a kickstand case on the cheap. Looks ok, black gripy back.
[Ebay] Leather Removable Wallet Magnetic Case Cover - for $11.95 I was actually happy w/ this case as you can take the phone out of the wallet case due to the phone case portion being attached to it via magnets and the phone case portion w/ leather looked nice. Unfortunately the plastic ends that clip the phone end broke very easily w/ in the 1st couple of days. They just didn't size it right making it far too tight and the fold puts pressure on the left side of the phone tabs where they broke.
[Ebay] Galaxy Note 10 Plus S10 Deluxe Leather Card Holder Flip Case Cover for $10 these were ok, I got 2 different colors. They are nice for "going out" and holds 1 card. If you're taking the spouse out to diner these are fine.
[Wish] I ordered a few of those ultra slim cases from wish which come from China and honestly I just love these things. They are the thinnest cases I buy, the phone buttons are exposed, and they have a small lip so if you place your phone face down on a flat surface the screen shouldn't touch the surface. They are like $3 each or something so I get a few colors. When you just want to not use a case but still want some protection for "just in case" these are the way to go.
I hope this helps, I didn't post links because I'm not endorsing any seller but I do have to give a shout out to ESR as they really did knock it out the park with their various cases and my top 3 cases for daily use (Work, Gym, going out) are all theirs and I would have chosen them regardless of who made it. I hope this helps!
Thank you for all that! What about Pitaka?

It's a nice and sturdy case if you actually use the magnetic holder feature. If not then I would look elsewhere as you're then paying for a feature that you won't use. I could use a magnet holder in my wife's BMW but I couldn't in my Honda S2000 sports car as it rides much harder and there isn't a magnet strong enough to hold the Note 10+ steady and not fall off.
Thanks about the thread, it really helps
Anyway the ESR essensial zero... is it fingerprint/smudge magnet too?bc I use ESR mimic and can't stand the fingerprint
Thanks for the detailed info, it reinforces why I purchased the ESR kickstand case last night from other reviewers. My question is which wireless chargers are you using and are you using any wireless stands in portrait mode? I can see that kickstand hump being an issue with many stands in that orientation. Thumbs up once again for your detailed experiences, much appreciated.

Cases that work with Whitestone screen protector

Are there any recommended cases that do not interfere with the Whitestone tempered glass screen protector? I know some cases can cause screen protectors to peel up in the corners, since I spent the money on the Whitestone, I want to make sure I don't get a case that won't play nicely with it.
Any recommendations?
Thanks.
I've used the Spigen Neo Hybrid on my Note 8 and now my Note 10. Both have whitestone protectors on them.

Thanks, I had been looking at some Spigen cases since I previously had one on an S7. Decent cases and not expensive either.

Really? I have the neo hybrid on my n10+ and have been eyeing the whitestone. I may just pull the trigger if it works with my current case.
I'm using the flimsy spigen neo flex, dont get me wrong it's a spigen so it works but hate all the finger prints, can scratch easy. The best part of it tho is its case friendly.

It certainly does. It is a perfect fit in my opinion. There is very little space between the screen protector and the edge of the case.
Whitestone protector delivered today, and a complete fail at installation.
I should have known something was up as it was missing the little suction cup, but since I figured that was just needed to remove the guide it should not be a big deal. Watched half a dozen or so videos, felt pretty confident to get started. Took everything slowly, but when I went to move the liquid to the center it kept flowing to the bottom. Even after I laid the phone back flat on my desk, I tried tilting it in the opposite direction, but the fluid appeared to be just running out the bottom between the 2 pieces of the holder.
At that point took everything out and cleaned it off, tried again, this time the glue did not spread to the top of the phone (my desk may not be perfectly level, but it's also not way off either). With the screen protector dropped I tried to coax as much of the glue towards the top as I could. For some reason all the glue seemed to just want to run off the bottom of the phone and then end up between the 2 pieces of the holder/alignment thing. The phone was pushed all the way into it, with the glue initially dropped on the screen it stayed in place, but for some reason after that it just wanted to run off the bottom no matter what.
Ultimately, what I am left with is a bunch of small bubbles and an area around the camera that has no glue. I should have just grabbed a cheap protector and been done with it. Leaving the Whitestone on there for now, even with the bubbles and piece around the camera it is still better than nothing. But, I'm pretty frustrated with the whole thing.
Sorry to hear this, I have been thinking about getting one of thhese whitestone protectors, but then I encounter sad stories, and there are worse ones! I will stick to the tpu/pet/hidrogel ones
It's definitely frustrating as I carefully followed all the steps. The Whitestone does feel great though and the fingerprint reader is not affected at all. Just have the annoying piece by the camera where it didn't stick.
Also, can confirm it works perfectly with the Spigen case mentioned above.
Mostly all of them have worked fine for me so far. I'm eyeing the new Marcel Case by samsung as well .. hope that fits it too
Dang I hope it goes well for me, just ordered 2 yesterday with promo code $52

Good luck, take your time and you will more than likely be fine. What stinks in my case is I can't fix the messed up piece.

Hej...
I'm using Clear Ringke Fusion with Whitestone and there's no problem at all...no peeling on the corners... nothing...
Between case and glass is little space which allows to cooperate perfectly
