N910F seemingly dead. Black screen. No lights. Won't charge. - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
My Note 4 started playing up 3 weeks ago, it started to lag, freeze and reboot. I managed to bring it back to function as my daily driver (handy as I didn't have another phone!) with the Wake Lock app. Sometimes when I'd try to boot it up, it would be glitchy and it would take a while to fire up again, most often I'd have to boot into TWRP and wipe the cache, but then it would be fine. The wake lock app was set to auto run and all was good, apart from a major hit in battery life.
Today I started to set up my replacement N910F (bought used). It too was running stock MM, I'd rooted this one too and installed xposed. All was going well until I went to remove the sd card from the first phone. When I went to reboot.....nothing.
I tried to remove the battery and hold down the power button and then try again. Nothing. Tried holding down the power button for a few minutes with the battery removed and then trying again. Nothing. I even tried holding it down for a couple of minutes, putting the battery in for 10 mins and then trying to power it up. Nothing.
It doesn't show up on my PC or with Odin. Nothing happens when I plug it into the charger. I've tried 3 different batteries. All with the same end result. Nothing. :crying:
Is there ANYTHING I can do?

Could be battery is dead or your device is hard bricked.
You might wanna see link below to unbrick method

It's not the battery as I've tried the 3 that were working with the phone originally, and I've just tried the one form the "new" phone.
After looking through the link, that doesn't look like an option - the phone needs to be detected by the pc. Mine was connecting fine earlier, so I know it's not a lack of drivers. I makes a noise when plugged in, but then isn't shown.

It should be detected in device manager under ports section.
If the pc makes a sound when the device is connected, that means the device is fine. You can try the debrick method given on my thread.
Try it and report.

galaxy tab 10.1 p7500 shut off- bricked?

hey to all, its my first msg here so ill try to describe as much as i can
I'm reading in XDA for a while, almost every question i had i found the answer here somewhere so thanks all all of you!
i have the p7500 tab with JellyBeanRom ICS v6 XXLQ8 with the A1 kernel (installed it few days ago, till then i was with JellyBeanRom ICS v5.1 i think)
Two days ago i found my tab off, i tried to turn it on and no respond, only after at least 10-15 tries of holding the power and vol+ or vol- and just holding each one of them separately for 20-60 seconds one the combinations boot it on.
I used the tab like nothing happened , fixed permissions and it worked fine until the screen went off (i think only when it was in 'deep sleep' cos i turned off the screen few times only for few sec and it was ok). sine that moment the tab was off again for 12 hours, only today again after lots of tries and strange combinations i succeed to boot it again.
I installed the rom again, wiped every option, fixed permissions again and used again the tab for 45 min (while he was with screen on) and it worked ok, connected it to the pc and it was fine, i went to a meeting with the tab in my bag and i got out and the tab is still off.
when its off, the computer doesn't recognize it, the tab is no charging since the morning and still nothing.
any idea please? i have a cwm backup that maybe can help me but need to boot first
If you were having stange problems with turning it on, why didn't you look into it the first, or second time?
Anyway, this happened to me on my tab using one of the JB roms.
-Have you tried charging with charger and not the PC?
-When you plug it in to the wall, do you get the battery icon, even for a short few seconds?
Just to confirm, you have tried holding the power button for 30-40 seconds and it doesn't do anything? Do you feel it vibrate at all?
i didnt thought to look it up at the first time cos i thought its only a glitch cos i turned it on again and it worked fine, the 2nd time i reinstalled the rom and wiped everything..
-Have you tried charging with charger and not the PC? Yes, tried few chargers and 2 different cables
-When you plug it in to the wall, do you get the battery icon, even for a short few seconds? nope, didnt got anything, no battery icon.
Just to confirm, you have tried holding the power button for 30-40 seconds and it doesn't do anything? Do you feel it vibrate at all? yes i tried it, i even used a tape to hole the power button for few hours, and also to hold power and vol-.. and no vibration at all
if ill take it to samsung lab, they have any way to know that i changed rom? cos if its off, i can tell them that i didn't changed a thing and like this the warranty still good
please help..?
If it's still not turning on then I suspect it's a hardware issue. If you can get it to turn on again flash a stock rom and test.
If it turns off again your only option is to send it in for repair. Alot of times they will fix it and not care about the rom.

My g900F is Hard Bricked - Help me please

Hello.
I've flashed my s5 with popwizh and everything went well. But after a full battery discharge the phone won't turn back on.
Battery is good and charger.
volUp+home+power doesn't do anything
volDown+home+power doesn't start download recovery
tried to boot from sdcard with a debrick img but no luck.
What more can I do? I don't want a paperweight please.
Charge it?
Battery is good and charged
If you can't get it to even turn on or enter download mode, there's not a lot you can do
Try removing everything like SIM and SDCard, remove the battery too and only connect the charger, see if you can get any signs of life at all
If not, it sounds like a hardware problem
Its to much of a coincidence to be a hardware problem, I refuse to give up just yet.
So far all the posts that resemble to my situation go on an on about flashing a debrick.img to the sdcard and boot from there. Dead boots and stuff.
I did this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/general/g900f-debrick-img-lollipop-t3240626 but without success
You said it won't even power on ?
How you going to flash anything without power?
I'm not saying 100% this is the problem, but most devices die when they are powered on, as that is when they are put under the highest stress
For example, I put away my treadmill in the corner of the room about 6 months ago, working - came to use it a few weeks ago, dead
Looks like pixies killed it, but actually it was when it was powered up again, just looks like it died when it was off
--
Is the phones power button working?
If you at least had a sign of life, we could go from there, but without any power at all, I have no clue
Battery connection contacts not bent or snapped?
From what I understand the phone won't turn on because the boot partition is gone, so if I manage to boot from the sd card to the download recovery, I can then use odin to flash it back to stock android.
Am i wrong?
Are you even getting the logo on screen when you turn it on?
Does the screen even light up?
You said there is no power at all, that's not a boot partition problem
Man if it's not turning on and there's no reaction when you press the power button then there's two things I can suggest : the power button is not working; or when the battery went completely dead its safety system thing could have turned on, which means you have to put it to charge as long as it takes for it to turn on again. Plus if your phone was exposed to water which I doubt its power controller could have gotten burnt
Have you plugged it into a pc? See if it registers with that and if it dies but still doesn't boot just try to leave it on the charger for a few hours even if it's fully charged. Then battery out for 10 secs wait... wait... wait... and turn it on plugged into the wall. Or at least try. If that still won't work samsung repair Centre for you
Still no life, I've tried everything said so far. My only hope is a debrick.img to boot from the sd card, which I don't have.

Hard Bricked Samsung galaxy s7 edge

Hi! I managed to hard brick my galaxy s7 edge and i wanna see if someone here knows if its hard bricked or soft.
Got root and had renovate rom 2.0 ( n7 port) then i wiped my phone and flashed renovate 3.3 (s7 edge stock)
my phone worked fine on startup and i started to restore my old apps through gmail. i thought it would take a while so put my phone in my pocked and let it be fore about 20 minutes then when i took it up it was complete dead. i had about 67% before it died i tried everything (vol up down home all together) for at least 15+ sec. had it charge over the night ( i noticed that the phone didnt get warm or any leds shown) in the morning i tried everything again and nothing. when i connect my phone to my computer i hear the connect sound and then it disconnect a sec later. if i hold power button down and connect it ( and dont release power) my computer recognize it as onyx8890 and if i release powerbutton it disconnects. cant boot it in any way whatsoever. so what do you think? its only a week old thats the worst part of it!
I have left it to the store I bought it from for warrantable but its still rooted and have a rom on it. well if its complete dead they cant see if its rooted so thats one good thing.
still want to hear you opinion
sorry for bad english
so, from what I understand, u cant boot into any mode, are u even able to see something on screen? (logo, boot screen, etc.) U can try JIG (it somehow make any samsung device go to download mode). otherwise idk.
Hi guys, I have the same problem with my S7 Edge.
Can anyone help?
OK. So I managed to recover my phone.
The phone was dead because of a software crash(nothing on display, no LED light, power+vol. down for reset not working) and when connected to my PC - nothing (just a connect and after 1 sec. a disconnect sound).
But if I kept the power button pressed without letting go, my PC would detect the phone as exynos8890.
I tried to keep pressing the power+vol. down while connected to PC and I realized that the combo worked because after ~7 seconds the phone would disconnect and reconnect itself (but still as exynos8890).
But I tried a different approach. While connected to the PC I tried to keep on pressing power+vol. down. And I could hear that it disconnected and reconnected. But I did not let go of the buttons. And again a connect and disconnect. And again. And after literally 5 minutes of the buttons kept pressed down without letting go and countless reconnects there was finally a change. The disconnect sound was not heard after the connect sound. At that point I stopeed pressing the buttons and when I looked at the phone I could see that the battery icon appeared. Since the phone was connected to my PC, after 1 min. the battery started charging (it was charged 31%). And after that my phone booted fine.
wow
Hi I have just bought an s7 which turned out to be a Korean G930L but I cant get any response out if it apart from the 2 bottom leds and and the blue one. No response from trying to get into recovery or download mode, basically a black screen though it does vibrate on what i think is start up. It is found by pc and Odin and charges ok, I can tell as I can see properties on pc. But no other response. Is it possible that the previous owner tried to root it using non korean rom or TWRP? Any advice on how to fix either getting TWRP on or screen to light up. I am sorry for being so vague I have pulled it apart and checked all of the connections, screen, motherboard etc but nothing. Or chuck it out or put back on eBay. I tried your idea but it only booted once in that 5 minute period so I tried without it plugged in and rebooted several times but still no screen response.

Can't turn on the brand new YD206

Hello,
I received the YotaPhone 2 (YD206) today.
The box was sealed.
When I tried to turn on the phone, it didn't start. I thought it was empty so I put in on charger for 2 hrs.
After that I tried again , but still nothing happened -- i was holding power button multiple times, as long as 5 minutes at the time, but there was simply no response -- no vibration, no sound, screen remains black (not turned on), anything at all.
I tried different chargers as well (Xiaomi and Samsung one) -- they weren't working with this phone either.
When I connect phone to a PC, I just hear sound that something is connected (I saw installing drivers notice first time I connected it), but nothing happens at all. I don't see the phone in my computer or anywhere else.
Is there way I can fix this somehow? What else can I try?
Thanks!
You can try unlocking the bands like described here.
Not sure it will help but you can at least try.

Sounds like the phone is defect. The only thing I can think of is that it somehow freezed up and you will need to let the battery drain so all power is off the phone and then try to recharge it. Draining the phone completly without screen use can take up to 7 days.
I finally managed to turn it on,by keeping it on charger for whole day and night and after a couple of attempts it was on.
I thought battery voltage was pretty low which prevented it from turning on.
I used a phone for a day, completely discharged it and then recharged it to 100% again. I thought everything is gonna be good now.
Then I wanted to upgrade to Lollipop, I decided to use YotaFlasher to flash EU KitKat first, and that worked fine. After that, I used OTA update to download Lolipop.
Download finished, and I was offered to "restart device and apply update", but as soon as I confirmed, the device went off and I can't turn it on anymore. What the heck is happening with this yotaphone? (battery was at 97%)
I can't turn it on, restart, put in download or recovery mode, get it to charge or get the screen on. Also PC don't recognize it *AT ALL* -- not even sound that something is connected. It looks completely dead (again).
Any ideas what I can do to fix my new problem?

S7 Bricked? Won't boot, doesn't appear to charge

As title states, have a sm-g935f running stock firmware that won't boot.
Had issues with it freezing and rebooting so re-flashed stock firmware, has run fine for approximately 3 weeks now when suddenly, whilst installing swiftkey it froze, then turned off. Had roughly 50% charge at this point. Have googled for hours now, tried different button combinations for varying lengths of time to try to boot. Have left it to charge for 2 hours and have just had another crack at it. Charge indicator does not appear on screen when plugged in, led at top of display does nothing at any point.
I'm out of ideas at this point, really could use the expertise of the greater xda community now, this is my only phone and its unusable right now leaving me connectivity-ly stranded.
Thanks in advanced for the help guys :cyclops:
Can u boot into Recovery mode?
No, it does nothing at all. It won't even attempt to turn on
So brick it is.
Boot it into Download mode by pressing Vol Down + Home key and Power Key. Then open Smartswitch app click preferences and click emergency recovery follow the steps then
I also had this problem. Basically you need to follow SjDU. If you cannot get into download mode. Try and leave the phone uncharged for 24 hours. Then charge for about 30 min and try to get into download mode.

Why thank you, so helpful
Thanks guys, ill leave for 24 hours, i just have no way of knowing whether its uncharged or not, it really gives nothing at all regardless of what i do. Not even a slight vibrate when i plug it into a charger or pc.
regardless, ill leave it and report back
Thanks
Hi,
It seems to me that it's really dead, give a try at leaving it uncharged for a few hours and then trying again.
However I wouldn't hold my expectations up, I had a similar problem with the Galaxy S4, phone was constant freezing after a Stock flash (I was using custom ROM before), then tried to restart the phone, phone got stuck and removed battery. Turned out bootloader died and I had to flash it again using JTAG (S4 was pretty easy to open up).
I hope that you won't need to use a JTAG Flash, since it needs to open the device and obviously S7 is pretty hard to get to the circuit. An easy option is trying an USB JIG to get to download mode (that is, if your phone has charge - hence you will need to try first the option others suggested - and a working bootloader), you can easily find this device for less than 5 dollars on eBay.
Hope you get your beloved device working again.
All the best,
~Lord
