Probelms with ZC551KL ZENFONE 3 LASER after downgraded stock rom - Asus ZenFone 3 Questions & Answers

Hi,
I am opening this thread cause i am very frustrated about ASUS tech guys replies...always "sent it to service for review"
On November 26, ASUS publish a downgrade cause a major update failure they sent with firmware 14.40.144.6 causing the failure of the GSM modem and stop recognizing the SIM. :good:
The downgraded solved that problem, but others started like:
- answering calls not possible from lock screen
- notifications not showing for all apps
- vibration very low
if you are having any of this problems :crying: :crying: , join and all together will make like the last time, ASUS to rebuild a correct stock rom. :highfive::highfive:
My case number is N161267002.
Phone
Model ASUS_Z01BDC

I know this is not asus flagship but i was doubting to buy their one, luckily made my mind for the oneplus 3T.
Asus makes awesome hardware but crappy software with none support indeed..
Will never update zenfone 3 laser anymore.

You can set the vibration intensity in settings (volume settings),
notification not showing might be caused by "Asus mobile manager" (there is an option to block notification and one that blocks some applications when you turn off the screen)
But for the first I don't know
hope you can solve it:fingers-crossed:

Does it say "warning;camera failed" ? And are you loading the camera from the lock screen or home screen?

I had the same problem with my new Galaxy S4 that I bought on 8 of may in 2013.
In the beginning, the camera work fine, but after several minutes, on each time that I tried to open the camera aplication it had black screen with an error message.
I tried to exit the battery and return it, it didn't help.
I tried to rebot to manufacturer settings, at the first couple of minutes the camera work fine, but later the black screen appear again at each time I open the camera application.
Here is a link to youtube that show the same problem that I had :
Search on youtube "samsung galaxy s4 camera fail"
What can I do ?
I am having the same problem with my s4; tried system update, factory reset... maybe i need to try to flash my firmware. so disappointed with Samsung. a flagship phone shouldn't have this problem!
to be safe, getting it exchanged... i never bought insurance before but it looks like i might need to if i am sticking with the s4.
It's a known problem. Loads of people have it. You'll just have to wait for Samsung to fix it.

From today speaking to a guy who repairs samsungs this is a hardware issue. Reboots and factory resets seem to fix the issue but the root of the problem is the the camera module either not correctly attached/or soldered to the connection so when rebooting or resetting the phone the movement of the device in your hand or laying the phone face up briefly re-connects the module to the device. I'm awaiting my new device as my carrier told me a few people have had this issue also.
Hope that helps

no it dosent.. it just crashes.. with a black screen!
I have taken several pictures with my 2 days old GS4 but in one occasion when I opened the camera and switched from the front camera to the main, the phone froze and reboot it self :/
I hope i only was a one time failure and not hardware or software relate.
Cheers
There are several other topics created for this issue Slow or reboot when opening camera apps and [Q] Galaxy S4 - reboot launching camera from lockscreen
So far, temporary fixes are limiting the background processes to 4 from the developer options in the settings menu and disabling air view options and smart screen options. This has worked for me, I haven't experienced any other reboots but the lag is still present and sometimes when enabling both cameras feature the app would freeze.
I'm not sure whether this is a hardware or a software issue but nevertheless most GS4s experience lag with the camera app, especially those on the octa version, the GT-I9500. I bought the phone internationally, not using a carrier and switching mine will be a pain; therefore i really hope it's a solvable software issue.
This happened to me yesterday. I tried factory resets, going back to stock with Kies, clearing data, but nothing works. I thought it was because of something
I flashed yesterday, but that wasnt it. Sad it happened so quickly and hopefully it can be fixed.

He doesn't work for Samsung he just repairs them independently so he is speaking from experience. But I have since asked another independent business and the toldme the same. My problem has now stopped buti believe could be fixed due to my new case on the phone pushing the camera module slightly in place? Who knows but I am replacing incase it happens again (really don't wanna be lumbered with an s4 with a broken camera)

Were you receiving any warning messages?. As I dug into this problem I've found there are 2 error types. In the 1st scenario the camera would crash and a message would be displayed. The 2nd one, would just turn the screen black after accessing the camera app and after a few seconds the phone would reboot.
If a message is displayed then it's most likely a hardware issue. If the phone restarts without warnings then disabling air gesture options and smart screen options along with disabling a few samsung apps temporary solved the matter, therefore being a software misbehave. It's not a permanent solution but until sammy releases a patch this could be a small fix.

I have the first scenario. What would actually cause this? Flashing wouldn't cause it, would it?

Mine did both loaded camera app then black screen with message after a few seconds "warning:camera failed" then one time the phone didn't reboot it simply froze until I force restarted it. I'm getting replacement tomorrow evening as I use my camera a lot when I don't have a dedicated camera with me

Incoming call ISSUE.

Hello guys. I have proble with my p7000 and incoming calls. Sometimes the incoming call just bug whole phone. I can't recieve the call and I have to put out the battery. It's really annoying. And also, I don't see who called me in call history. I've made factory reset, but it didn't help. Also I updated my firmware to the version 20150807 but this bug is still here.
Absolutely same problem has man on this video. /watch?v=c588Clm67ME
Please help me.
/Sorry for bad English/
I had the same issue, try the November update from Stock or the Miui rom (the new one, not the one created the day the phone was out), I didn't had the glitch with those 2. I'm trying to know from what that problem come from but I'm far from being an expert sadly. That problem is on all the stock roms except the first and the one from November. All the roms based on stock got that issue (even those based with the November update strangely !?) so I guess it's something related to the voltage or something...

Thank you. So do you think, that ROMs like cyanogenmod doesn't have this issue? I almost can't use my phone... Today it happened to me again, but not on incoming call, but on alarm clock. So it has to be something with sound/soundcar/voltage of reproductors or something like that.. I am not expert so I am not sure.

The best is to test it. First install TWRP then make a backup of your current rom then install that rom : http://bbs.elephone.hk/thread-8425-1-1.html#.VlyDufkvdhF and see if that problem occur again. Personally I had no issue with the November rom for the P7000 so I'm staying on that one for now, even the root doesn't mess up anything... If that occur with alarm that might be a problem with the sound board/card then I had the same issue, when I get a call, the sound was looping, screen staying black, had to or remove the battery or long long press on the power button.
Hope that will help you !
PS : The november rom is here : http://bbs.elephone.hk/thread-9111-1-1.html#.VlyFPPkvdhE but you need a working flashtool for that one (you need flashtool for a custom recovery too anyway).
solved - cant receive incoming calls 4g'
I know this is an old thread but I have just had this exact same problem and after WEEKS of googling and determination I have found the fix to this problem..
I'm posting it because as I was googling I found that there are still hundreds of people experiencing this today.
HERE IS THE SOLUTION!
Dial *#*#4636#*#* on your phone..
Then scroll down and you will see a small down arrow next to "Set proffered network type"
Choose LTE/GSM/CDMA Auto (prl)
Also, you might need to check one other thing.. On the same screen go to top right ":" drop down nav menu settings shortcut and "Select Radio band" - do this if the 1st change hasn't fixed your incoming calls problem.. You can experiment with AUS, AUS2 or Automatic etc and try again.
I was about to throw this new Elephone S3 back to China but it's all great now
Hope this helps someone

Though it would be nice to consolidate any issues we have or potential bugs as well as possible solutions in one place.
Here is what I have found in a little over 24 hours.
1. Can't change lock screen wallpaper. Changes just won't take.
2. In settings>security>smart lock>trusted paces everytime I tap on "add a trusted place" I get a pop up stating "Unfortunately, Google Play services has stopped"
3. There apears to be no direct way to block numbers from the dialer or contacts like on my Nexus 6P

+1 , i try and i get that error message and bugs i have came across so far are the follow :
1- Camera Freezes and Stops Working. (Way to fix that is Reboot Device)
2- The Adding "Trusted Places " under Smart Lock. (same as you)
3- Can't Enable ZTE Apps when they are Disabled (ZTE Music/Video/My Voice and probably more), i disabled the Music app by mistake thinking it was the Google one and the ENABLE was grey out, hated i had to Factory Reset to get it back.

Got mine at Best Buy two days ago.
Got mine at Best Buy two days ago.
I haven't played with the camera, so comment on possible issues. Will do so this weekend.
I also just noticed my wallpaper doesn't scroll (it scrolls fine on my Nexus 6P and LG G5).
Weak cell signal.
May security patch
Weak low light camera.
I'm sure those can be fixed to some extent with a software update.

Help about some features in different way on same phones

Hello,
my issues are on the same model n910-F Italy no brand.
I have 3 black notes 4. One, my main, is rooted, one is stock and the 3rd one is my husband phone which is stock too.
Yesterday they were given to me 2 new white same itv note 4 to setup. They weren't unboxed yet but they were bought in December 2015.
On one I setted all the settings same as my main phone.
I updated them from Lollipop to Marshmallow (the last N910FXXS1DQE1_N910FITV1DPL1_ITV)
Now the 2 phones are identical but they are different to the other 3 I have.
1) On the blacks when I tap the task manger (2 squares soft touch button) I can see all the opened apps and IF I CLICK ON THE APP ICON, I RECEIVE THE APP INFO but on the whites it doesn't happen.
How can I enable this feature also on the new white phones?
2) When I make an outgoing call with the old black phones on my last call appears a blank line and below not saved. I guess it's a protection to not being able to recall the last number automatically by, maybe, some malware. So on the new phones this feature doesn't appear. How can I enable it?
3) I have a very annoying issue on the rooted phone and also on one of the new phones.
When I make an outgoing call if the other part is busy I don't hear the long TOOO TOOOO TOOO but I hear a short 2 and the call ends.
This happens only on this phone. I also updated the form the the version before the last one (N910FXXS1DQC8_N910FITV1DPL1_ITV). So I tried without root and without recovery but it was the same.
I prefer not to have to make a wipe data so please give mean alternative solution if you have it.
Thanks in advance to all who would help me.
Sorry for my English.
Hello everybody.
No one can help me? :crying:
I found the solution of the point 3 by myself.
It's a firmware bug witch is not present for the last time in the version N910FXXS1DPK1_N910FITV1DPI1_ITV con Security Patch Level 2016-11-01. After it is.
If you chose the phone to recall automatically when it's busy on the other part the bug appears if no you can't notice it.
UP :crying:
UP ............
Could you upload some screenshots to understand more the issues?

Android Wear 2.0 Call Delay Answering on Phone and Watch Bluetooth Voice Call Enabled

There is a noticeable 10+ second delay when receiving a call and answering it on the phone and the setting "Play Phone Voice Call" on the watch is active. In my case this is with a Pixel 2 XL and Huawei Watch Sport 2. There is no fix for the issue at this time. If you are also having the same issue please send feedback and report the issue through android wear. Please read more about it and star the issue at the issue tracker below. Hopefuly this will get fixed soon. It makes the call feature on android wear basically unusable.
https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/71010564
This issue was reported back in December 2017. Some confirming that it was faulty even on Pixel 2/XL's launch back in October 2017.
There are about 300+ comments in the issue tracker. That just shows how bad this problem is turning into. Currently, the fix that Google released only works "sometimes". Since the same bevavior was happening to my Gear S3, I strongly believe that this has something to do with how they designed the Pixel 2 line. Hardware, software? Not sure. If you read the issue tracker, you would find that other Wear OS/Android watches are exhibiting the same behavior as well.
I did reach out to Google store's customer service and sighted the issue tracker. They are allowing me to return the phone even though it was purchased back in October. I'm still not ready to pull the trigger just yet. Pure Android is too good! If you're thinking about returning yours, note that they will keep offering an exchange but always insist of getting a refund!
Same here on ticwatch E with last updates + a nexus 6 updated to android pie . I start to think there's something wrong in stock android roms because most of the times this problem happens on pixel , nexus or one plus devices . My old lg g watch uograded via custom rom to wear os 2.0 is a little bit faster to react to calls ,even if it's not able to answer it on the watch, at least till September of the last year . Now it's a little bit slower but the call notification happens all the time and at least it's not starting to ring after 20 seconds till the end of the call when I just answered on my phone
I have the exact same problem. Pixel 2 XL and Huawei watch 2.
Hi,
Have found a sort of fix for this issue for my Ticwatch pro and S10+ set up.
Download CallApp Connect to phone and watch. Use a tasker profile (not my idea, got it from another forum) to wake the phone immediately when a call comes through and then calls appear within a few seconds. Still not ideal but much faster than waiting for the Wear OS stock app to wake up eventually and miss the call. Time to open changes depending on whether you use AO display or LCD, faster with AO.
Also dispalys a photo of caller if you have one which stock app misses also.
Downside is the app on phone is heavy on the ads/pay options and may just add a different annoyance to your life. For now I have choseen to continue using the stock phone app to find contacts and see how long i can ignore the ads!
I created a small app that would wake up the watch when there is an incomming call, its works by detecting an incomming call and tries to push multiple notifications to watch one after other to try to wake up the watch as soon as possible, and self clear the notifications once the watch is woken up. heres the link: https://gofile.io/d/7DIfyo
