Problem with Google's services? - ZTE Axon 7 Mini Questions & Answers

I just got the Axon Mini from china and for some reason it won't let me use any of the google applications.
I also can't create a google account because of this
I went to apkmirror and download newer versions of: Google account manager, google play services, google play store, and google services framework.
also tried a factory reset
Phone info:
Model Number: ZTE B2015
Android Version: 5.1.1
Android Security patch level: 2016-01-01
Kernel version: 3.10.49
MiFavor UI: 3.2
Build version: ZTE B2015FTV1.0.0B07
Any help or suggestions are appreciated, and it's a new phone so I'm not worried about losing anything

Hi Yosef,
it seems like you're in the wrong forum. As you state you have an Axon Mini and not an Axon 7 Mini. Sadly XDA Does not seem to have a Axon Mini Forum.
There seems to be some software and ROMs in the Axon Pro Forums for your Phone though.
Generally it is a really, really bad Idea to import a Chinese Phone. They generally come without Google Services and filled with Spyware:
https://www.cyberscoop.com/android-malware-china-huawei-zte-kryptowire-blu-products/
As this is also well known by Google and therefore the S
spyware phones are not supported. I believe your best bet is to install custom Firmware (if available) and have a fresh start.

[Q] Full AOSP on Mantra as Device Model

As the title suggets my Nexus 10 has the model name of Full AOSP on Mantra after being returned from Samsung support. This is causing issues with Google Updates, Google Play Services and Framework Updates, the error it gives is 'package file was not signed correctly'. Please help me as I have no idea what to do and before I sent it in it Said Model Name as Nexus 10. It is also having issues with Google hangouts and Google+ features

Hi,
Try downloading and installing a ROM from here: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
You seem to have an old AOSP or something like that, try installing the latest 4.3 ^^. (It requires unlocked BL AFAIK)
Good luck,

Android Pay - how to make it work

After reading around, it seems there are two major problems preventing many previous Google Wallet users from transitioning to Android Pay:
1. Google Play Services need to be updated (to 8.14+ I believe)
2. Stock rooted or custom ROM not passing the compatibility check "unable to verify device or software is Android compatible"
I've resolved issue #1 for myself by updating to the latest Banks GApps package which includes the Play Services update, but because I'm running CM12.1 I have no idea how to resolve problem #2. Has anyone else running CM or another ROM found a solution and successfully setup Pay?
It seems there is not a solution as of yet. If you are experiencing the same problem, please submit feedback to Google asking for custom ROMs to be supported. In the Pay app Settings > Help > Feedback.

[Huawei p8] Google products not working

I got my Huawei p8 from china having base version GRA-UL10C00B230. I have noticed that Google play store and other google products will not work all of a sudden. On click of google play store, just it will flash and go off. I came across few posts on internet and followed the same which involves clearing cache, uninstalling google play services updates etc.. but still problem is not solved.
Is there any better solution for this problem or should i remove the base ROM and install global customization version? please suggest.
Once i tried to remove the current ROM but there was some rooting issues.
Kindly suggest.

{GIUDE} HYDROGEN OS 3.0 [Oneplus 3/3T] Installation/ Quick guide

An update to the H2OS out after a long time. The alternative ROM for the OnePlus devices is now updated to the version 3.0. The Hydrogen OS is mostly designed for the Chinese variants of the Oneplus devices. However, the H2OS 3.0 can also be installed on a regular or international variant of the OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T. The ROM brings many new features.
As the Hydrogen OS is a firmware for the Chinese variant, it doesn’t come with the Google Apps pre-installed. You will need to install it separately. Fortunately, we already have a Google play store installed APK which can easily install the Google Play Services onto your Android device.

Will all the US bands be enabled with Hydrogen OS?
Hi, can anyone using a US OnePlus 3T confirm whether the US version of OnePlus 3T with Hydrogen OS will have the exact same bands enabled as the US version using Oxygen OS? I want to be as Google-free as possible and starting with a manufacturer-supported Google-free ROM like H2OS sounds like a good way to go.
I'm open to other ways to accomplish this but simpler is better for me. Finally moving away from Windows Phone, and yes I know, why would you want Android if you don't want Google? Answer, pathetically trying to cling to ownership of my personal data and can't afford the next best OEM privacy option, the iPhone (which isn't a great privacy option either). Thx!

I've been down this path too many times. It's doable but not easy. First, scrap H2OS since Playstore is preinstalled. I'd go with either a lineage based Rom or Freedom OS (OOS with the option to leave all google and OP Apps out on Installation). Just don't flash Gapps after the Rom.
But thats really the easy part. The hard part is the setup. First, you'd need to sideload at least a browser. Get the browser apk of your choice from a reputable source (xda labs is great. It even manages Updates for you). Depending on the apps you need, you'll need some playstore alternative. Some things can be had through xda-labs. If Open Source is your thing, f-droid is great too. Just don't download apk's from somewhere on the web. Your privacy might be more at risk than with google on it.
Also, get a vcard backup of your contacts (or run your own carddav server). Finally, some apps simply won't run without google framework (that's why it's back on my phone). For example "Bring", a shopping list, won't run without google framework. Don't ask me why. But i need that app. Just be prepared for some major inconveniences, and having to find workarounds... :good:
Thanks for the great input domsch1988. You've given me exactly the tips I need to get started. One question though. You mentioned Playstore is preinstalled on H2OS. I was under the impression the main difference between H2OS and OOS was H2OS's removal of all Google specific stuff to meet China's Google restrictions. I assumed that included Playstore. Are you sure it's in there? I only ask because I'd rather start with a OnePlus supported ROM if I can but if that's not the case I'll take the leap and go with one of the ROMs you suggest. Can you recommend a lineage-based ROM I can start with? And, do you have an opinion on microG as a Play framework replacement? It seems like a good idea in theory but the way it's implemented gives me some security concerns.

OP stated that PlayStore APK is preinstalled. I have not tried h2os, so can't say for sure. You could give it a try. And with root you can always uninstall system apps.
I never tried microg myself. For me it was always no g at all or the pico Gapps package.
As a lineage based ROM, on my note 4 resurrection remix was great. On the 3t I'm on stock oos, so not sure.
Play store or anything Google is not installed on H2OS
i am using it currently tried to go without play store and other apps for one day but couldn't deal with all the Chinese apps so, installed OOS although everything could have been installed on H2OS also.

Google swrvices and purevpn

Dear all,
I just bought a Huawei Nova in Shanghai (chinese version). It has 5.1 emui. But no google services. Ive tried to download and install them and gave all permissions but still not able to start. Also i did install purevpn apk but it is frozen again at the beginning. It is about android 7? How can i solve this problem? Best,
Probably it's the same story as with Xiaomi phones with Chinese ROMs. Google is banned in China that's what you cannot use it. Try to find official international ROM for your device and flash it.
Hiapp has a modified google play and google play services. It worked on my device in China on EMUI 4. Not sure why the apk is force closing. Do they have options to set up the vpn manually?
hank you but i do not want to flash a rom. i found out that purevpn app is freezing when i was trying to start hiapp's google play. after removing it, it works but slow (nothing to do here). but still sad about google play and other google services part.

I now run LineageOS on my phone, so I have flashed GApps. Before that I was on EMUI 4 and it seemed fine with HIapps google. There is a free VPN called zerovpn and I got that to work in most places (again I am also in China).
