If you need to download a firmware for your device over XperiFirm but dont know which one or want to make sure to download the right one;
you can follow these steps to check your customization number.
Open the dialler
Enter *#*#7378423#*#* and press dial
Tap on Service info
Tap on Software info
Look for Customization Version

For example, mine is a Hong Kong device with CDA 1305-2218.

Does this mean we must absolutly use firmware with the same CDA for a given phone ?
(I plan to export baseband from several ftf to try if one is better than another, because my LTE signal is bad where it was correct with Z2)

I can't make any comments about your plan but flashing FTF's from other CDA's is possible. I read that people who want to activate their fingerprint scanner in US are flashing UK based firmwares.

It's possible. I flashed RU firmware on my TH XZ Dual to update to 7.0 and everything works fine.

I had purchased a Xperia XZ from the UK last year when it first came out, and it never got proper service since day one. Sent for repair, still not working properly, no LTE or decent phone service. 1 out of 4 bars in the middle of city, should have full bars, and loses signal. I do not find my customization code above, it is 1305-2216 R2D. The phone does have the required LTE bands and everything according to the white book, as well as on the Sony website. Google searches aren't getting me answers as to whether this is the proper customization setting or not?

It's probably because you aren't able to use VoLTE so the you can't use E911 possibly, so they kick you off LTE just to be safe.

Late answer, but the list above is not complete with all customization codes. You need to check Xperifirm to find your device.

Later answer: and that code (1305-2216) is not present.
BTW I think he won't have that phone anymore...

SPV M3100 UTMS Indicator

I am wondering if my M3100 is on a UTMS Network. It is displaying the 3g and the little 3g. I am pretty sure this means the UTMS network but I wanted to make sure. My Downloads do seem to be BLAZING here in Nashville.
It should have a U in a small white box in the top bar if it is on the UMTS network.

I am getting speeds of 550, with only a single bar. I really hate when people open their mouth and don't know what they are talking about.
In my defence in Australia when you are on the Telstra UMTS network (Next G) you do get a U. I know this because I am getting one and have used one extensively in the shop.

Correct but all providers customize their ROMs
I know that they customize their ROMs. All I was doing was trying to do was help a fellow member and if you want to flame me go right ahead.
remind me not to try to help slimsaturn with any issues he has. Although it does seem that he has issues that cannot be resolved on this board.
Try anger management.
In Europe all unbranded TyTN's ie Hermes 200 have a U when on a UMTS or Super UMTS network irrespective of the telecom service provider & I would think this would be the same worldwide unless you have a network branded device who have installed their own rom.
Guest69 and scip01 I completely agree with your comments and I to will not be helping slimsaturn again and I remember when I was reading reviews of the Tytn they did have a U and that is why I said it. Thanks for saying something it took some guts.

My Tmobile Vario2 has the "3g" logo, but I'm sure it uses the UMTS and even the HSPDA.. I did came upon a registry modification done after a hard-reset where Tmobile changed the "U" into "3g".
If you do a hard reset ('clear storage') on the SPV M3100, then do a soft reset just after you press the screen to reset (you have 3 seconds!), this will stop all the Orange extras from installing and hence display 'U' instead of '3g'.

I'd like the 3G rather than the U; and I believe AKU3.0 fixes that by default now.

Hi Guys, I am with Telstra Australia and after playing with a couple of phone skins I found that the "U" had changed to a "3G".
I much prefer the "3G" and have looked through everything trying to figure out where the images are kept.
Is it an image file or a registry setting.
This is no big deal but would certainly like to change it if I could.
(If you install a T-Mobile skin it appeaers but disappears when you uninstall it and go back to the default phone skin)

Well, very complicated for me (involving quite low level hacking) with my limited knowledge, but achieveable.
However, I'll leave the question open a la Fermat because I'm sure someone's got a better solution.

New provider, strange new icon on top

Hi all!
I wanted to enjoy everything that my HD2 has to offer so today I made the switch to a provider, which offers me 1GB free traffic/month.
Great and all.. but, since I made that switch, a "1" is appearing on top, next to the connection status icons (on windows mobile).
I'm pretty sure it has something to do with my connection, because as soon as I toggle off "phone" at the wireless controls, it's gone.
Can anyone explain me what it actually means? And maybe, how I can get rid of it?

I think when the "1" is present, that means that your Line 1 is active. Same goes for other active Lines.
Atleast, with iWireless, that's the situation.
[iWireless also allows a Data Connection whilst on the phone too, so I'm assuming AT&T phones also have the "1".]
Okay, with the info you provided, i went off to scour the internet, and I found some information.
It seems indeed, that the number on top, indicates which line I'm using And, if i press the "#" on my keypad, I can switch from line 1 to line 2. This is called, alternative line service. All it does, is mapping two different phone numbers to your SIM card.
Now i'm just looking for a way to disable this, because, i don't have a second telephone number mapped to my SIM
So I was HALF way right. Pretty good guess.
I'll do some research and see if it's possible to disable the "Secondary" Line, though, I think it may be a SIM Function, not device... as you did say in your first post that you switched carriers... which means a new SIM.
As most people know, tampering with the SIM Card (Excluding your Contacts & Web Settings) can be a bad idea...

Did some research, and found out that it CAN be disabled but you have to speak to your provider about it.
The actual Service Name is called 2-in-1 Sim Service. See HERE for more info. Though that article is quite old, it seems many providers now support 2-in-1 Sim Service for Business customers that wish to have a Business Number AND a Personal Number all on one device.
I called my provider and asked about this service, and they said it is, in fact an optional service, but it's pre-configured on the SIM Card. At the moment, my provider only has one style of SIM.. so I can't remove my Secondary Line availability.
I recommend talking to your provider about the service to see if you can disable it.

S4 I9505 problem with 3G data network

Good afternoon, I havea problem with my mobile, S4 I9505, about three weeks ago began to turn off the network data (3G) ones or twice a day, with wifi works perfectly .. I realize that I spend some time without receive mails, or whatsapp, then turn off and back to activate the network data and there I get all messages .. when I see on the screen is going from 3G to H + besides that'll about device status and the Figure mobile network type umts or hspa+ good signal strength and status of mobile network shown in attached but nothing works using internet, even entering a page or update the weather widget ..
i Change rom, now put the free German but nothing .. be hardware problem? software?
I live in Argentina and my company is Claro, went perfect until three weeks ago, I put a chip from another company and just had the same problems as they do
if I can help I would greatly appreciate !!!

Wrong carrier name in Notification Bar

Hey,
I'm using OnePlus 2 with Oxygen OS 2.1.0 stock. I have a Vodafone SIM in slot 1 and an empty sim 2 slot.
I noticed the carrier name is wrongly displayed as Airtel instead of Vodafone IN.
Anybody else have this issue?
I had this issue with AT&T and T-Mobile. Both would say AT&T. That was when I had the T-Mobile in slot 1 and AT&T in slot 2. Switched the SIM cards and it displays properly now. Not sure why. Figured it was a software bug.
My phone does the same, instead of T-Mobile pl it shows polkom or something like that. And it's like that for every other carriers when I check in the settings. Factory resets didn't help so I just live with it. It's not a big deal.
Thanks Guys. Good to know I'm not the only person having this issue . Yes this looks like a bug. I thought yesterday update to Oxygenos 2.1.1 would fix it. But nevertheless hopefully somebody from oneplus is looking into this.

Do you guys, have a optable.db in /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/ ? Looks like one of the file necessary to get carriers names, but I do not find it on my phone.

1 thing I did noticed that, if I'm in different place (my workplace), it shows the correct carrier. Is this something to do with the Towers that are available in the area? If yes, then why it didn't become Roaming?
This appears to also happen if your phone switches to a band your mobile network uses a different provider for. I'm with 3UK and they use Orange's 2G network, so Orange appears if my phone drops to a 2G/GSM signal.

I said, when I am in my workplace, the carrier details is showing up correctly. Its just that I'm not able to figure out How..!

I documented 6 months ago the bug to OnePlus, and either they don't care nor they are incompetent ....
( This bug is one of the 1st reason that made me installed a Custom ROM ... )

[KB2005] No 5G or voice over wifi

hello,
my phone model: KB2005
Version: KB2005_11_C.33 Android 12
I can't have the option to activate 5G or voice over wifi. how can i solve this problem?
can I switch to the EU version to perhaps solve this problem?

Easy question: Have you tried to see if your city supports 4g because in my case I have an iPhone 12 and a Realme gt neo 2 and having a telephone contract with 5g, I still can't activate it today because my city does not support the type of connection

As you can see:
5G is not available everywhere, but we should be able to choose: 5G, 4G, 3G...
If your carrier is like mine, ATT, the phone is not on their supported list and is therefore not provisioned when it connects to the network
In reality the 5G option is not available even in my case, the fact is that 5G is automatically enabled as you enter a city that supports it, remember to have a device compatible with 5G

Hello, I used this trick to activate 5G: Download the ShortCut Maker application from PlayStore, Go to configuration/ configuration activities/ and search for network, open and click on "try this shortcut" this opens a menu where it says type of preferred network we enter and we choose a network that contains NR which is 5G.

I do. it is a thing. Ive also used QPST to make the appropriate edits. Essentially done everything I can except for forcing ATT to actually provision 5g to my phone even tho they've said they enabled the flag.
