Product Codes for Athene - Moto G4 Questions & Answers

Hello, humans!
I have a Moto G4 purchased in Brazil with the product code XT1626. I'm coming from a Moto G2 XT1068 and i was very careful to install specific ROMs to that model. However, i have noticed that some ROMs are "nonspecific" (example: XT1625 and XT1643)...
So how do I know which ones are compatible with my device?

Converting XT1625 to XT1622 (US to EU model)

Hi All,
I am planning to buy Moto g4 from amazon with prime exclusive which is listed as XT1625. I am planning to use the phone europe in the future and I will need to use LTE band 20 which is not included in XT1625. Does anyone knows if there is a workaround for this? such as flashing a XT1622 ROM will work on XT1625?
I appreciate any helpful answers!!
As far as I know, it's not possible.

What version of them the Moto G4 Plus do you have? I mean, XT1642, XT1643, XT1644 (there are different versions). Furthermore there's only one leaked soak test update file, which is eligible for several versions of G4 and G4 Plus, but not all of them!

Why don't you download the other file (that is for your Moto g4 plus) and flash that using stock recovery?

Potter vs xt1687

Sorry for the noob question but what is the difference between "potter" and "xt1687?" I searched but couldn't find anything conclusive about differences between potter, xt1685, xt1686, xt1687, xt1688, etc.
I just got an xt1687 from Amazon but it seems all the ROMs are for the "potter" variation. I'm trying to figure out what differences are so I can tell which ROMs will work or not work for my device.
Thanks for any help.
If you'd look at about phone in settings, you'd see your model number. Potter is the codename that was used by Lenovo for the Moto G5 plus. XT1687 is the official model number for the Moto G5 plus. Its the same phone.

So are all variants (xt1685, xt1686, xt1687, etc.) considered "potter?" Any ROM listed for use with potter will work regardless of RAM and storage sizes?

Yes, 'potter' is the device name for all Moto G5 Plus variants, for the "regular" Moto G5 it's 'cedric' and so on. Some issues do pop up for certain variants based on differences like having NFC/compass or not, but are usually minor and/or fixable.

Moto E4 version?

So I've purchased a Moto E4 off Sprint because the J7 sucks and the development looked the same to me, no ROM was different besides it's skin. but as I looked up ROMs and root for this phone, I keep getting the Moto E4 with the fingerprint scanner, not the model I have, which only has the Moto logo and no fingerprint scanner. What model do I search for for this phone? My system settings say it's the E4, and even the model number. But Google results all show a different model. Any help?

Look at your device hardware info. under about phone(settings)
their's a term SKU XT****.
search with these keywords "moto e4 verizon XT****"
ex: moto e4 mediatek SKU XT1760"

Thank you so much for replying. I have already tried this and I still get results for the Moto E4 with a fingerprint scanner. Is it possible that the ROMS and development for that phone are the same for this one?

development in case of Moto E4 series device's isn't same. if you consider installing file's of another variant of moto e4 this will brick your device.

Thanks anyways, but I found the issue. Turns out only the boost, metro and sprint variant don't include fingerprint scanners! ;-;

Yes, it is possible to install G4 plus roms in G4, without any problem. G4 / G4 plus has the same codename (athene).
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Yes, it works without any problem, I'm using a XT1644 firmware on a XT1622.
