Huawei Mate 9 Pro - Huawei Mate 9 Pro Questions & Answers

Recently, Tkkg1994 wrote a tutorial on "Unofficial TWRP for the Huawei Mate 9". My question: is it possible to apply this tutorial to Huawei Mate 9 PRO? (same chipset than Mate 9). Thks.

I think you can use it on mate 9 pro.......You can have a try.

Yes Twrp THAT VERSION WORKS
YES there is even a way to root , i did it myself..
after you unlock unloader, there is a tutorial how to do it ... (you get the unlock code from the huawei site...)
you install that unofficial version of twrp and since our device does not have a microsd extension the way that i did it since you can not access the file because the twrp not support encrypted os... so what you should do
is connect a usb type c to your device with phh's root the latest version , and then from the twrp install you install that file from the usb.
it works and i have root...
(there is a problem with toolbox tho.. but root is working...
someone here need to start a thread with rom collections..
good luck!:good:

Have been watching the TWRP-thread. I'm just waiting to see if things stabilise. We need a rom collection. I do not dare to start on rooting before I have a fastboot flashable stock recovery and all the other files.
PS. I have unlocked bootloader. Doing this is a bit dangerous as well. The automatic factory reset done when unlocking is prone to fail. I at least got a semi-bricked phone.
So for anyone not familiar with flashing in Android should stay far away at the moment.

HI..Wheres the tutorial for rooting mate 9 pro thx..

As Vacchia scrofa confirmed that mate 9 recovery works on mate 9 pro then flash that TWRP recovery and flash SuperSU.zip to root your android.

Waiting for latest mate 9 pro method. Appreciate your sharing If someone master has the guide.

the supersu is not working but the phh's root is working ...

Did the root work fully like no issue booting the phone?

libvidhance.so
Anyone with a Pro-version who can verify if the device include a libvidhance.so file in /lib and /lib64?

I just went through this ordeal. There is a lollipop version of dual recovery here . You need to flash the flashable version of it through recovery and it will give you write access. You are probably using a Kit Kat version of dual recovery that doesn't disable lollipop simlock.
many thanks for the quick response. can I get this recovery "TabZ2-lockeddualrecovery2.8.21-RELEASE.flashable.zip" for the sgp512 simple flash or something else must take place only before ... thanks:good:
You want 2.8.22 zip file. Flash in recovery. Done.

Not sure what version of firmware you are on, but you might need to downgrade to an older version, run NUTs or another method to flash a new recovery. I went back to a 17.x version and skipped all the setups at firstboot, enabled Developer tools, then USB debugging, allow apps to be installed, and all that nonsense, then I ran locked recovery install.bat.

[ZE550ML/ZE551ML] Bootloader unlock and relock tool

All you need is rooted ZF2 with stock boot and firmware.
Just connect it with ADB Debug enabled and run *.bat.
Also accept adb debug root access on phone screen.
Initial release by drdaeman (source).
Slightly modifed by Yoti (it's me) (source).
Tested on my own ZE551ML. Not tested on any ZE550ML.
upd#[email protected]: some minor issue in relock.bat, plz use this instead of.
upd#[email protected]: updated tools with fixed typo
Thank you.
Is it really possible to relock bootloader ?? As anyone tested this yet ?
how we are gonna know that bootloader is relock.is there a way to be sure about that.

If you can't flash a thirdparty recovery (TWRP, CVM), then your bootloader must be locked.
but what if unlocked with other method? relock is possible with this method?

I didnt flash raw. I unlock the bootloader using the unoficial version (a long time ago).
This didnt work for me the first time because i didnt root first (after installing the full version .97). I just use the one click root then this and works for me (or at least i can do OTA again i guess bootloader its locked).

Both of these are known to fail against this device, although I attempted to root with these to no effect.
Looks like the only sane way to root this device currently is via the pre-rooted option with Odin.

The LUA-U22 may be the 3G model, with the older chipset. That's why it may work. So far there is no known method to root the 4G version (LUA-L22).

Hello,Im quite new to this whole thing, but can I put android Pie on my device?

And thats about it. I cant really understant how to root my phone(. Its too compliated), and Im wondering if android pie is avaiable for this device. Thank you for your time.
The simple answer is No, Android P is not available for the Huawei P Smart and may never be, officially.
The complicated answer is that if you have an unlocked bootloader (which you would have had to do before Huawei restricted this practice) then it will be feasible in the future to flash a third party ROM which is based on Android P.

Android P is available unofficially. Just search for it on XDA, there are ones in the P8 Lite 2017 forum that will work on this device because we're all part of the hi6250 chipset family. There is also one for the Honor View 10 that works really well once you remove the assert lines from the updater-script file.
