Has anyone got wifi tethering working on amazon XT1625? - Moto G4 Questions & Answers

Has anyone been able to get wifi tethering working on the amazon xt1625? I believe usb/bluetooth tethering would work through foxfi although I haven't confirmed it yet.

Looks like it works with my verizon sim and ringplus (sprint sim), just not with freedompop (GSM sim).
Edit: freedompop gsm sim will work on foxfi usb tether via pdanet (not foxfi wifi, nor regular wifi/usb tether under settings). Kinda interesting.

Wifi Hotspot problem

My 3g data is on and every time I turn on my wireless hotspot tether my 3g disappear and my laptop connected to it says i have limited internet access..
sounds like a bug in the os. did you try USB or blutooth tethering?
I will try the hotspot on my phone and ipad and see if I get the same result.
Update: my hotspot worked fine. Maybe you service provider blocks it. Most do.
thx, usb works fine and I d/l Barnacle Wifi Tehter app and it works fine... something wrong with the sony one =)

Does it support connecting to Ad-Hoc networks?

Yes, I am talking about Ad-Hoc networks from tethering apps(ie Barnacle). Can the Nexus 7 connect to Ad-Hoc networks via tethering from another Android phone?
mine wont connect..i wont find the network.. i tried barnacle and open garden and a few others. any suggestions on how to get it to tether with my phone?

Just registered so I have a bit or searching to do.
I'm unable to connect my Original Droid (v2.2) to my N7 with Barnacle.
No problem connecting the 'Droid to my Mac laptop.
The only way I've been able to tether is to FoxFi on my phone and PDA net Tablet on the N7 with limited success.
play.google. com /store / apps/details?id=com.pdanet.tablet (remove spaces)
]
It only runs over Bluetooth.
I can access the web, my IMAP email accounts.
Can't run Pandora or my work Outlook.
I use Foxfi on my phone, and no special apps on my N7, over wifi. The Foxfi "network" pops right up on the N7.

I may be having issues because I'm running v2.2 on my phone.
N7 does not support ad hoc networks, they won't show up. Change the settings on your phone to infrastructure, and it works like a champ.

Is there a sure way to enable WiFi hotspot?

It seems like none of the apps out there (WiFi Tether, FoxFi and alike) work. Some seem to be able to start but no connection can be made.
Had anyone successfully ran SG4 in hotspot mode?

Not sure exactly what your asking for but: Hotspot Hack
I was looking for the app based solution. Thanks for the link, but that seems to be a bit risky.
My understanding is that JB has blocked FoxFi and it's kin. FoxFi's website has a chart to show which phones and OS levels it runs on. I did not expect it to run on my S4 and it does not. But PDANet+ (who has partnered with FoxFi now) does work for tethering. I was forced to use it for several hours yesterday when my cable was down and it worked great. But it's not wireless. and I did not try it via bluetooth, only wired.

Wifi Tethering bug (4.4.2) no root

I own XT1060 and I don't live in US. I bought this for the sake of having a world phone and when I found out that wifi tetheing locked by Verizon and bootloader cannot be unlocked I felt doomed.
Tried many things and found a bug/exploit, I do this in order and able to reproduce the result
1. Use Easy Tether root edition, and tried tethering
2. Use Foxfi, and tried wifi tethering, it will complain error, ignore it
3. Use PDA.net and turn on wifi tethering, it will complain error, ignore it, then turn on bluetooth tethering, then turn it off
4. REBOOT, the phone will complain about unknown sim, just press OK
then go to settings, tethering and VPN settings and turn on the wifi tethering and voila it works and no root needed.

Good job. Maybe someone can use this to obtain root? Lol!
Where did you find Easy Tether root edition? I tried this with the Easy Tether from the play store and it did not work. I also live in the US and use Verizon though.
can you explain more clearly?
Ditto...

Do you need to do this everytime we want to tether? Or do we only need to do it once?
Did it work for you?
Has anyone confirmed that this actually works on the Verizon network?
My XT1060 doesn't do an Entitlement check with other SIM cards. It only checks for a subscription with a Verizon SIM for me. When I use my T-Mobile SIM, I can enable Wifi tethering through the system without a 3rd party app. But once I put my Verizon SIM back in, it checks my account for tethering.
i just use easy tether pro, connected by USB, and it works great for me

I did this 3 times, sometimes when the tethering fail, I did it and i get wifi tether again. I have no idea yet what can make the wifi tether get protected again. It works in SmartFren network in Indonesia

I think the title of this thread should be updated to state that this only work for the Verizon model WHEN it's not on Verizon's network.

PDAnet/FoxFi Compatibility With Nougat 7.0 on LG G6

Does anyone know if PDAnet/Foxfi is working on the LG G6 running Android 7.0 Nougat?
Would someone with an activated LS993 mind testing FoxFii 2.19 with PDAnet 4.15?
Just need someone with an activated Sprint LS993 (LGG6) to test FoxFi 2.19 with Full version key. Just install both FoxFi apks on phone and install PDAnet on Windows 7. Test USB mode and bluetooth if possible.

Nope, doesn't work. It says I'm not subscribed to data tethering. This sucks

Can you try USB mode with a cable to see if that works?
Ran into this with the V20. PdaNet does not support wifi tethering with Nougat, and by their statements, it doesn't look like that's going to happen anytime soon, or ever. However, cable tethering does work (speeds may vary a little differently tho) and for devices that support it, Bluetooth tethering does also.
It wasn't until the V20 was rooted that I was able to get a regular wifi hotspot back, which of course rendered my PdaNet useless anyway.
Which wifi hotspot you used?

I was able to use the built-in hotspot, but only after rooting the phone which had it baked into the ROM to workaround the provisioning check. Without rooting though, the only option I had at the time, was to use PDANet while tethered via USB
