Official Mi Max Prime Global ROM has been updated to version 8.1.4.0 - Xiaomi Mi Max Guides, News, & Discussion

Official Mi Max Prime/Pro/Helium Global ROM has been updated to version 8.1.4.0.
Not much has changed from the previous MIUI Global ROM 8.0.3.0 (MBDMIDG).
Touch screen issues remain the same. It is seems audio characteristics have changed
somewhat in the new ROM (found it to be thinner sounding or having less bass
than in the previous ROM). Also, Android security patch level has been updated from
July 2016 to November 2016 (which is good since the number of Stagefright vulnerabilities
has been reduced from '4-critical, 27-high, 4-moderate vulnerabilities' (previous 8.0.3.0 ROM) to
'0-critical, 4-high, 1-moderate vulnerabilities [latest ROM version 8.1.4.0 (MBDMIDI)].

Did they try to lock down EDL mode in this update?
I heard some people talking about having to downgrade the bootloader to unbrick after they tried to update in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-max/how-to/guide-install-global-miui8-root-t3435594
I hope their not trying to lock down EDL, as that is the only way to unbrick if you have a locked bootloader.

Hi don brian,
Just updated to 8.1.4.0 and it looks like it contains the December security patch. According to Stagefright Detector 8.1.4.0 is now totally secure.
The previous global ROM, 8.1.3.0, had the November patch including the vulnerabilities you mentioned

Hi MikusP,
Where did you download the global hydrogen ROM 8.1.40 for 32GB Mi Max? The Official MIUI website still lists only the 8.1.3.0 MBCMIDI as the latest downloadable update for hydrogen global and 8.1.4.0 MBDMIDI for helium global (64GB/128GB Mi Max).

I OTA'd from 8.1.3.0. It was a 1.3GB download all completed on the handset itself. So, does that mean the 8.1.4.0 Helium has an older security patch than 8.1.4.0 Hydrogen? Weird!

Yes, the 8.1.4.0 helium has a November patch. Weird indeed!
Just checked again the official MIUI download site. There's a new global ROM update for the helium Mi Max - 8.1.6.0. This one has the Dec. 1, 2016 android patch level which has fixed all remaining Stagefright vulnerabilities.

SGS6 - June 2017 Security Patch - stock Nougat review

Hi guys,
I've created a review of the latest stock ROM for our SGS6, with the June security patches. Enjoy!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_6SjQRKIAc

About Oreo update

I brought mi A1 on 17 Jan 2018,android version is 7.1.2, security patch level is 6 Nov 2017, i checked for latest update but it showing 'your system is up to date' how I Wii get Oreo update and what time it will take for getting update
Seems like Xiaomi stopped the Oreo update due to bugs. Wait until its released again.
On the other hand, they might stopped the OTA all together.. I've seen august security patch with no update.

Q: Can I switch from Beta to Stable with Anti-Rollback?

When I'm running 8.9.6 china beta, can I flash the last stable release via Mi Flash Tool?
8.9.6 i newer than V9 last stable (I think 9.6.10).

MIUI version doesn't matter, what matters is the anti-rollback version of the rom you trying to install. If the anti-rollback version is equal to or greater than your current anti-rollback version, then it’s safe to flash.

So if the bootloader is locked, then stock recovery should stop the process from bricking our phones, in case the anti rollback version is lower, is that correct?

Stuck on Security Patch level 2017-04-01 running V10.2.2.0.MALMIXM (MIUI9)

Hello,
my Redmi 3S ist running V10.2.2.0.MALMIXM (MIUI9) and stuck on Security Patch level 2017-04-01, which means no Patches since 2 years.
As far as I understand, the support by Xiaomi was dropped in April 2019, so there should have been Security patches distributed by OTA.
What is the latest OTA you have seen?
Bye
No answer after almost 2 weeks
Come on: what is the latest patchlevel you are receiving on the original rom, please?
2017-04-01 was the last security update for redmi 3s, forget about getting any update now or in the future. You should move to custom roms for continuous security patch support.
OTA updates doesn't mean Security Patch update. Xiaomi updates MIUI and some features, that's all.
As said before, if you want security patch updates, only one solution: customs roms.
