UK price reduction -£100 - Pixel C General

64Gb down to £379.99 from £479.99 http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/computing/tablets-and-ereaders/tablets/google-pixel-c-10-2-tablet-64-gb-silver-10147260-pdt.html?istCompanyId=9a35962d-802d-4e67-9721-0a3328ca1f02&istItemId=xxiaqqrmlx&istBid=tztx

Just picked one up from Google with the same reduction.

Still to expensive. No wonder there is n0 development for it.

Price Premium of 32GB Model, comparison against competition, $ and £ prices

I have been waiting for the nexus 9 for over a year and was very happy with the outcome my issue is that the price premium for the 32GB model is too much. I have attached a comparison of the nexus's, ipads and tab s's.
I originally completed the comparision to see how the conversion between $ and £ was working out, which apparently is about $1.25 per £. This is in line with the competition, and makes sense bearing in mind the UKs higher VAT. I have to note that the conversion for the 32gb model was not as good ($1.20), so I compared the storage premium.
The new IPads jump from 16gb to 64gb for the same price that the nexus 9 jumps from 16gb to 32gb. This means that the cost of each extra GB for the nexus 9 is $5/£5 , whereas the ipads are $2.10/£1.67, which is less than half the price.
I am really annoyed at google for doing this, no way is 16GB of extra storage worth £80, but as the tablet has no expandable storage, I will have to pay the extra. If for £80 the storage jumped to 64GB like the IPads I would be a lot happier.
What do you guys think of the price difference of the models? Do you think there is any chance of google dropping the 32GB models price to make it more in line with Apple (I didn't think I would ever say that apple gives better value than google but that is the case).
I really think Google gone mad on pricing the Nexus line up this year. Most of the people bought Nexus Devices just b'coz of the competitive pricing.

good pricing, and because of the price, last years chips. to my understanding, the new devices use the new chips and if we don't get the annoying screen issues plaguing the N7.2 , will be worth it. I've already told them to take my money, even though I have very little of it, and swore I would not get one so soon due to the issue I have with my N7.2

a comparison of just ram specs alone is not enough. its like comparing cars just based on their trunk space alone . toss in chip (engine) and battery (gas tank) and a few other specs to make the comparison more realistic.

I know that the tablets all have different features. This was not meant to be a comparision of which tablet is the best value, I was just demonstrating how google has completely overpriced the 32GB model compared to the competition of which the IPad is the major one. The main point was the nexus 9 is the same price as the IPad mini 3 in the UK for the 16GB models but you can get the 64GB IPad mini 3 for the same price of the 32GB nexus 9.
So google should either bump the storage of the 32GB nexus 9 up to 64GB with no price increase or should knock £30-40 off the price to be more inline with its competitors. I have noticed that the price premium for the extra storage is not as much in the USA where the nexus 9 32GB is $20 cheaper than the IPad mini 3 64GB. I do not understand how there is $20 difference in the USA and no price difference in the UK.

Nexus 9
16GB - $399
32Gb - $479
New Fire HDX 8.9 Without Special Offers (With Special Offers)
16GB - $394 ($379)
32GB - $444 ($429)
64GB - $494 ($479)
IPad Air
16GB - $399
32GB - $449
IPad Air 2
16GB - $499
64GB - $599
Galaxy Tab S 10.5 (8.4)
16GB - $499 ($399)
32GB - $549 (N/A)
The Nexus 9, specifications wise is meant to compete with the iPad Air 2. For an extra $80, you got to 32 GB from 16 GB while on the iPad Air 2, you go to 64GB from 16GB, but the base price starts at $100 more. The selling point over the Fire HDX, is accessibility and freedom.
I didn't think of looking at amazon.
So apple, samsung and amazon all charge $50 for a storage increase from 16GB to 32GB, whereas google is charging $80.
I am very disappointed in google for this, why did they not do the same as everyone else and charge $50 for the storage increase, which would have made the 32GB nexus 9 $449.

Priv Price Revealed (It's not good news)

Carphone Warehouse are now taking pre-orders for the Blackberry Priv,
http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/phones/blackberry-priv
The bad news? £580 sim-free. (That's the equivalent of about $900 US)
If you ask me, Blackberry are pricing themselves out of the market. At minimum it's £100 overpriced in order to be competitive, especially when compared to something like the Nexus 6P. The maximum price for this should have been £450, and even then it would be a major uphill struggle to shift 5 million units.
I was so excited for this phone, but at that price I think my money would be better spent on a 6P.
I was waiting for this phone as the only option for Android, HW keyboard and decent specs.... but at this price I don't think it makes much sense. Heck even the corporate procurement officers will scratch their heads with such a price, even if the security is top notch. Common BB, get serious!
Settle down, guys. That's the European price and most likely includes VAT. Electronics are also more expensive in Europe. It'll most likely be $599 or $649 here.
MSRP $949 in Canada.

Expensive but I'm still getting one!
I need my physical keyboard back
I would think that depreciation value of this phone would be quite high due to BlackBerry current circumstances and market share. However I could be wrong, it could hold it's value because of being a niche product. If it's a hit then I could see them holding the same price for at least a year or more but if it's not then it might see the Amazon Fire phone slash and burn price method.
mobilesyrup article puts pricing at $799 CAN which puts a US price at more like $599
Apparently it was momentarily priced for $749 USD.
http://www.droid-life.com/2015/10/21/blackberry-priv-pre-orders-open-in-us-for-749-ship-november-16/
I'm wondering how much of that is actually BlackBerry and how much is CarphoneWarehouse. It wouldn't be the first time a device has been unpopular simply because of how and where it was marketed.
Preorder pricing has always been a little "stab in the dark" as far as I'm concerned, the only thing we can really do is wait. I'm really hoping the competition between retailers drives the price to a slightly saner number but I'm not holding my breath.
The Priv looks like an amazing device but £580 is a little rich for my blood.
I think it will probably similar priced as the galaxy S6+, perhaps slightly more.
This is first android edition from BlackBerry
after a while
the price will reduce like other phones

I'll be getting one. My caveat is I'm on T-Mo USA and need to wait for the wifi-calling compatible version.
I thought I read somewhere that it was going to be about $650-700 in the US.
EDIT: http://www.engadget.com/2015/10/23/blackberry-priv-pre-order-price/
899 CAD in Canada, which is a bit high for my taste. Not BlackBerry's fault though, would've been 799 where I would've bought it.
Although Rogers is doing 399/2yr or 799 outright.

Buying outright from Rogers and unlocking is cheaper in any case.
blackberry always overprices its devices, mostly people buy it to use it as a STATUS SYMBOL
Not necessarily. Passport was $699 at launch, still the same price for full off contract at Rogers, and you have to pay to unlock it. Bell and Telus both selling it for $750.
Canada works a bit backwards in this regard.
I was gonna get it until the price was revealed. I decided to go with the G4 and im glad i made the decision

I can't even remember the last time BB was a status symbol, at least in the US or Europe, however this is the first 'unique' Android phone in years, so you never know. I'm going to resist buying it as long as possible b/c the price will definitely drop on contract, but I don't know how long I'll be able to wait.

Market Price for Used?

Currently Google is selling the 128gb model 6p in the US for $649.00 (+tax + shipping). Is that a reduced price? I'm seeing multiple listings for used 128gb models, but all are for more than $649.00. Are these Swappa sellers hoping to find a sucker? Or has Google dropped the price for the holidays? I can't imagine why anyone would want to pay more for a used phone vs less for a new one with a warranty. Weird.
It would make a lot of sense in markets where the 6p is not available officially, but most likely these sellers are trying their luck and taking their time with selling them at a higher price to see what happens. Maybe the slight possibility that these phones might be out of stock in stores during the holidays in peek demand, might be something to look at.

Supply and demand my friend. Its relatively difficult for folks to get their hands on these phones.
That is the retail price, it hasn't been raised or lowered. The 5X on the other hand has gone down in price.

UK availability?

Hi has anyone got any news on when the Axon 7 will be available in the UK? I've got money burning a hole in my pocket and I've wanted this phone since it was announced back in May...
I've seen on Twitter that it could be a Q4 release in the UK but what does that mean? Sept, Oct, Nov??? I've also seen on Amazon.es (Spanish Amazon) that it is currently available for 449 euros. How come its not available in the UK if it is available to order from the Spanish Amazon site and possibly other EU sites?
Its been available in the USA since June hasn't it?
Also is there any confirmation on pricing because again amazon uk are selling it for £458!
https://www.amazon.co.uk/ZTE-Axon-7...TF8&qid=1473928341&sr=1-1&keywords=zte+axon+7
An astonishing mark up on the US price which is $399 if I'm not mistaken? Going on current exchange rates the Axon 7 should be about £300 but I've read it will be £359 but would love to know for sure...
I think only 60 were originally available in the UK, apparently it wasn't so much a sales drive as a pilot to be followed by a proper push - eventually...
The price difference is largely down to VAT, if you were to try to import one from the USA yourself (which isn't allowed, I've tried), it would be no cheaper.

Great, so the One Plus 3 is looking more attractive for UK customers right now because its already available and in stock and its for £329 which is £30 less than the Axon 7 how come both phones are $399 in the US??? - this makes no sense to me even taking VAT into account...
If only the OP3 had a 1440p screen, SD card slot, and front facing speakers...
ZTE are really messing up here IMO its almost like they don't want to sell the phone in the UK...

Also if only ZTE had half of OnePlus's distribution channels in the UK...
I was hoping to see the stock availability in the UK too, the 4GB+128GB version in particular, but it's very unlikely.
At least I can buy one during my China trip soon, the 4GB+128GB version only costs about 300 quid. I'd say that's a fair price to pay.

Despite being a 'pilot customer' and experiencing the often poor early software and non-existent support, and despite being a satisfied former OnePlus customer, I've no regrets in not getting the OnePlus 3 as the Axon 7 has such astonishing audio technology, both for recording and playback.
That phone on Amazon looks like a German import. I'd hang on for another week or so.

Pixel UK Discussion

Evening,
I've pre-ordered the Pixel 128gb in Quite Black (the blue wasn't available--waaah!) and an XL to test which is best for me. Estimated delivery 24-26th Oct.
How about you?
i preordered the 32gb in black, Oct 24, 2016 – Oct 26
i think i read somewhere blue is exclusive to the US
up on CPW with £50 play voucher and shipping by 20th! Damn you El goog
https://www.carphonewarehouse.com/google/pixel.html#!colour=silver&capacity=32GB&dealType=pm
Contracts are a bit steep!
Way way too expensive for me. :crying:
Looks like it will be the one plus 3 for me.
I'm still on my M7 which I bought for £480 when it was new.
So yeaaaah I was not prepared for these prices.
I'd probably pay £550 for a 128GB, 5" Pixel. But that's a full £150 less than what it currently is. I can't justify that, no way.
Guess I'll wait.

M7 here too. Really had my hopes up when rumours of an HTC Nexus started. Now the Pixel is here I can't justify the cost. There's nothing extraordinary and the real killer for me is the software update support hasn't been changed from the Nexus.
I pre ordered the Pixel 32gb then cancelled the order when my sanity kicked back in. I'm just going to keep my Nexus 6P for another year. I can live without google assistant and the pixel launcher. That being said I am really excited to see what google does with the pixel brand.
I ordered the Pixel 128GB in black from CPW - tried to order on the Google Store, but it broke (clicked to confirm purchase and it just looked at me like a demented labrador). Same price as a ludicrously expensive iPhone 7, but I wanted a 'pure android' phone with the latest updates, enough storage and wanted it to fit comfortably in my pocket - so either pay silly money or compromise on one of my three requirements.
Website initially indicated delivery date of October 20th, but showed October 21st when I ordered. Presumably at these prices there won't be the long waiting lists that there were for the 6P and the 5.
I was very disappointed to see that the pricing is inline with the Apple iPhone 7. Weird, as previous Google phones (Nexus) were priced considerably much lower. I wonder where the spike in price has come from? Google trying to be as greedy as Apple?

Massive price difference compared to the new Google Pixel!
The blue colour kinda looks a bit too plastic for my liking

This is XDA, I am sure your 6P will be able to get the Pixel Launcher and or Assistant. If you root it, in time you'll probably get the same Pixel experience on your 6P.
So So disappointed with the pixel phones and their prices, what was Google thinking?
Mine's on order from CPW. Delivery for 20th October. It was expensive but I figured if I didn't order it, every day I would waste time thinking about ordering it. I was like this with the Moto Z; ordered it, and then sent it back.
Thinking now though...would the Moto Z be a better phone in the end...hmmmm
I may have accidentally ordered one (Black 128GB) direct from the Google Store as I'm thinking the customer services will be better based on past experience if I get any problems.
I was torn between the Pixel and Pixel XL. Given I have a 6P the XL would have been the natural choice, however I don't think I can justify the extra cost (hard enough to justify as it is). Plenty of time to cancel/change my mind though
Same here @Azarin. 128gb in black.
The XL price was just a stretch too far, plus, I only have small hands
Ordered from Google, IMO the customer support is better than CPW. I have sent things back to google in the past without issue.
Soon I will be retiring my Honor 5x (which was a standby phone after my MotoX Style broke, and they couldn't repair it...long story..)
I've been hanging on to my HTC One M8 waiting on the new phones to be announced. The price is quite steep but is compounded by the raw deal for UK purchases.
The Pixel is 650 USD in the US which is just under 510GBP. In the US you get the DayDream Viewer chucked in as a sweetener - but not in the UK. If you want to buy that (once available) its an additional 69 GBP
So, UK price for the pack is 668GBP v 510 GBP for the same in the US......which seems to be completely taking the p!ss - 30% dearer...
I'm wondering if I should sensibly look at something else - Oneplus 3??

Op3 tempting but bigger than I really want.
I've pre-ordered on EE with an early upgrade, only a few days early.
Will this phone have loads of **** installed from EE or will this be just a google phone?
I hate it when carriers put their **** on it!
