Huawei Nova vs Asus Zenfone 3 ZE520KL - Huawei Nova/Nova Plus Questions & Answers

Hello guys, i would like to get one of this two smartphones, which one will you recomend and why ?
Thanks P.S. Sorry for the missing "e".

Zenfone, It has working TWRP i heard, plus ASUS is an english company so it's easier to contact them in case of problems

Nova Plus is the best phone i had til now...its FAST,lots of space....the only thing is when taking pics/vids with low lightning, images are too dark...but its supposed to be fixed with the coming nougat/emui5
its been 3-4 weeks in my hand now and no problems with what came in the phone originally...no bugs/force closing ect...
mine is surprisingly fast charging (though i heard some, having nova plus with slow charging problems...) and for what i do with it,the battery is running for a long period.
i dont know the zenfone at all and didnt check the specs but.... i REALLY like the Nova Plus

3- is there any notification lights when for exemple low battery? new mail?
4- battery? good enough?
5- for root and unlocking BL! is it risky? can instal custum roms even tht im on the last update( JB i think) or i have to root and unlock BL only when the tabel is runing on android 4 ?
6- the keyboard is it responsive? solid?
7- can it read any type of 32g memory card?
8- i already have a sony s tablet on Android 4 no rootable, is it worthy to change from sony S to asus Tf300? i like my sony; it has very good wifi strength; but i miss rooting hehe! and instaling Roms. and specialy the keyboard of the asus is really very good stuff!

6 which keyboard you mean? the dock? I dont use it. Use swiftkey from the market and its very good
7. some are good, some not.

I love my TF300T. Had stock Rom for less than 5 hours before i unlocked and flashed custom. Cant really complain on anything. But if I could time travel back, I would get the nexus.

why so the nexus? i think the pad is more better .....
mine picks up wifi great
alot better than my 7" Acer Iconia a100
i even pick up the neighbors house that live about a footballs field away
i bought two 32gb G.Skills micro SD class 10 cards from newegg
they work great, i have one in the tablet, and i have the other with the SD adapter in the keyboard docking station
battery seems pretty good, with the docking station its really good
and i removed the files that make the ota updates download automatically
i get a way better quadrant benchmark with stock ics than i did with stock jb
click "thanks" there on the bottom left, right below my post if i helped
thks for ur replies and +1 for u all ! thanks again!

1) Build quality is okay, it doesn't flex too much but your Sony has an overall sturdier build.
2) WiFi is excellent. I use it throughout my house and outside, no problems.
3) There is a notification light on the tablet, and on the dock. They light up when charging and low battery, etc. I'm sure it can be made to flash for other reasons (email, etc.) also.
4) Battery is very good on most kernels, ~7-8 hours without dock and an extra couple of hours when the dock is connected.
5) I have rooted and unlocked mine fine. I got it with 4.0.4 preloaded, then I updated using the OTA from Asus to Jellybean 4.1.1. Then I unlocked and rooted, now running cm10.1
6) The keyboard is good, I use it at school for taking notes in class and is fine. However it is more compact than full-size laptop keyboards and you may have to get used to it.
7) I have an 8gb micro-sd, but the tablet supports up to 32gb.. and I think even 64gb with mods? I'm not sure about this.
8) The TF300T will definitely feel like a faster tablet and you will enjoy the custom roms :good: but the stock experience isn't the best. The Sony tablet has a tegra 2 processor, and the TF300 has a tegra 3.. a pretty nice upgrade!
Hope I helped :cyclops:

It's not a notification light, it's just a charging indicator (orange when charging, green when done). You'll find it on the power button, so even if it can be used to notify of new events, it will be hard to see.

Redmi Note 2 - How was your experience?

Hi guys,
It's time for me to replace my old phone. I am not brand conscious but I would like to know from every day users of the phone about their experience and how they see it compared to mainstream offerings. My benchmark is, if it's as good as Note 3 or even S4 it's ok for me.
So how does it's
1) Batterly life : I heard it drains alot of battery even in standby, but how good/bad is it?
2) Screen quality
3) Sound and speaker quality: I read some people complain that it's speakers were very bad and if the phone is not close we may not hear it ring? I also read on the gsm arena review that with headphones the sound quality is very poor. I like to listen to audio books/ economist's e reader when I walk..
Can I install google apps?
Any chance we can get cyanogenmod for this phone in some time?
1) One - two days
2) Very good
3) Speaker are very loud
4) Yes you can install Google Apps
5) in some time but sure why not
Gesendet von meinem Redmi Note 2 mit Tapatalk
hey,
i'm in the same situation. I've read around a bit and some sites recommend to check if you have the original xiaomi rom or any other rom modified by the vendor you bought. For example check if the "Mi Remote App" is installed (should be there in the original) or if you have a strange version, i.e. "MIUI Version 66.66.77" does not exist officially.
B.
1) Batterly life : OS problem, now 1 day standby; 1 hr if you play games
2) Screen quality : Not bad, not made by SHARP, but today's technology is good enough
3) Sound and speaker quality: If you compare with S6 / G4 / Z3+, definitely Note2 sucks, it is not hi-fi or boombox, OK quality.
4) Can I install google apps? Yes, but not for noob who knows nothing about TWRP ZIP files
5) Any chance we can get cyanogenmod for this phone in some time? Probably no

Is there a patch? or a good stable alternate rom? I mean only 1 hour with games! that means like 2 hours watching movies etc.
Also: are the dimensions similar to any major smartphone? so I can buy case for body and screen.

1) Battery Life: 4 Hours On Screen Time and Idle drains nearly nothing (10h since last charge, 1h and 10min screen on and i have 72% left also over night with nothing turned off just lost 3%)
2) Screen Quality is good enough for me, some people say, that the black is more gray than black, but i dont think so
3) The speaker is very loud and the quality is quit good, especially for this price
4) Google Apps is no problem at all.
Great, thanks. One thing I haven't read is it's GPS system, they haven't compromised on that, h ave they? I use my gps alot

GPS works perfectly, often locks in just a couple of seconds.
Some people experience various sound glitches, especially without audio buffering adjustment. Does anyone have this problem or it's limited to specific rom versions?
Thanks.

Fix inside a building takes between 4 to 10 seconds. Outside nearly everytime 4 seconds. I don't think you will get something better.
I received my Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 , three days ago. In beginning i was happy after few hours of use, but time was passing and i discover many bad things. The battery drain so fast. Before i have Meizu Mx 5 which keep me battery 3 times more than this. Second thing, i cannot connect this phone to my car, even before i connect with xiaomi mi3, mi4i, meizu mx5, samsung, etc. This one is looking like is not compatible. The applications become sometimes stuck, I believe due RAMS. after i use cleaner, its ok. Now i will try to change the version . I have 66.77.33.00(LHMCNCH) stable. Somebody knows if is original version?
battery battery and again battery! no one say that display drain battery soo f** *fast that max screen on time is about 4 ours. theres no update that can solve that!
My phone came with a strange chinese rom 666.777
or something like that. Not stable. Lot of chinese menus etc.
Now i have installed latest Xiaomi.EU weekly.
A lot better. Easy to install with update app.
With the right software this phone is very good.
Thanks

In my opinion, the audio quality using headphones is fantastic! But i have the same problem with stand by time.. It sucks really bad.

That version is a bloatware-bundled Rom, flashed in the phones by the resellers, that works very very bad.
@adelix Please, download official version from http://en.miui.com (if you want only english language) or http://xiaomi.eu if you want also other languages. Our device codename is Hermes, remember to select correct file during the download.
Then rename the file update.zip, move it on Internal Memory, go to MiRecovery mode, wipe all data and select install from update.zip
If you want you can install a custom recovery like TWRP that is more smart
Every week (exept this week because of holidays in China) an update is released. So don't worry, the battery life will be increased, this phone has only a few weeks
Thank you for your advise. I have installed now xiaomi.eu_multi_hermes_5.9.24_v7-5.0 . The phone is completely changed now. Battery life increased and now i can connect my phone to the car by bluetooth . No more lags also. I start to love this phone.
It's horrible when a powerful hardware (i read somewhere that is in the top 10 of the most powerful phone at the moment) is wasted by terrible software modded by resellers to sell a multilanguage version. Much people don't know that this phone is sold with a strange firmware and that you have to change it in order to get it fully working... So bad..

I have the same rom, how did you install EU weekly rom? please enlighten me
if you are used to a SAMOLED screen almost all other screens pale in comparison.
that said, the new generation of IPS LCD screens are all quite good, even those used in Chinese phones.
i don't have a Redmi Note 2 (yet, it's on the way from china...) but we do have a Redmi 1s and a MI3 and the screens are ok.
I had Samsung Galaxy S1, S3, S4, Note 1, Note 4 and the screens are just amazing. the Note 4's screen is completely out of competition, there is absolutely nothing that comes even close.
otherwise i have to say that the Xiaomi phones are incredible value for money, even with the reseller markups.

Hi
As i understand 5.9.24 is the latest.
You vill find it here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=40163
I used the updater (ota App) found in the crappy unstable "stock" rom (full of bloat, that came with the phone).
Codename for our phone is "Hermes"
Use button up on right side in update app to choose the zip file you downloaded.
Remember you have to go to security ( its an app, did not find it in settings ) to allow root.
Thanks

Honor 6x Review/HandsOn. Chinese Version.

Hey there,
I just received my Huawei Honor 6X last week, and i am writing this to post my opinion on this device so you guys can get a good idea about the phone, as there is only scarce information about the hands on experience and functioning of the device.
I bough the Grey coloured 3GB32Gb variant, from UAE's online shipping jadopado. At 899AED~240USD~15000Rs
https://india.jadopado.com/product/JM00329911/huawei-honor-6x-dual-sim-64gb-4g-lte-smartphone
And this seller is by far the best seller i have ever come across. So helpful that he was 24/7 available through whatsapp, double checked my phone for me, even cleared my doubts on EMUI, and created videos to guide me through EMUI:highfive:
As you can see only the 4GB/64Gb variant is shown as available, contact the seller and they will guide you to buy the 3gb variant.
I really like the phone, its sleek aluminium-clad and really slippery. The UI has a learning curve, after that its alright.
Model Number: BLN-AL10.
Disclaimer: i have only used the phone for 2 days.. These are just my opinions..
Camera:
Talking about the camera, its good #decent, not superbtastic!! Main camera is 12mp+2mp, while the front camera is 8mp
It takes good to great pictures.. I have attached some pictures..
Pretty decent in medium low light.
Autofocus in video shooting isn't spot on.
The bokeh effect(dual camera) is good, but i dont think we'll use it often.
Performance
Performance is good, will be better in EMUI 5 i hope so..
Battery
The battery has been great so far, mainly due to huawei's excellent software which handles battery management. And there is ultra power saving mode.. I'm getting around 6 hours sot as of now, will have to use for a week or two to get the correct idea.
Call Quality
Call quality has been good so far.. Using BSNL and Jio..
And in Reliance Jio (india) i am facing network signal being lost and other issues, i think its mainly due to Jio's fault, as most of my other friends also has it..
LTE CAT 6 option for faster connectivity
It has VoLTE optionin settings, but still have problems in calling from stock dialer (JIO- India), it'll get fixed through an update i hope so.. I have emailed Huawei about this issue.
Fingerprint
Finger scanner is spot on.
Speaker
Speaker is loud, but its only a single down firing one. And while watching videos we can easily block the speakers accidentally when cupping the phone.
Display
Display is great, quality is good But the viewing angles are not that good, but its not at all noticeable..
Benchmarks: (3GB/32GB version)

Me as well, is satisfied with it. Requested it from a friend who bought it from China. I got the 4GB / 64GB variant on gold color.
For it's price, what more could you ask for? I love it's performance, camera, GPS.
the only downfall i can say is it's speaker. it's only coming out from the bottom right side. but no problem with headphones.
you say you're having problem with signal after restarting it. Though i don't have that kind of problem. I did not make any benchmark yet, maybe in the future.
this might be my phone for the next 2years. It will not be outdated.
heard there would be updates to Nougat on this model. hopeful! ^_^

The phone lags a lot (ch rom at least). Switching, opening tabs, etc). Overall animations stutter a lot. I hope some developers find it in their hearts to help our poor souls and release a rom with all the xiaomi junk removed.
Are you using global ROM or EU?

I've the 3/32GB global/EU version. It's the worst new phone I've bought ever when it comes to performance. It's just a week old and I've installed the apps that I had on the Note 5 before. Everything is more laggy than with my old 5. I'm really frustrated, because it seems to work fine for others.

Damn, maybe there's something wrong with the software then. Maybe unlock bootloader and flash fastboot ROM of your choice?

Xioami.eu miui rom? Not the model version itself. If u are not familiar with it and I feel like many aren't, Eu rom is like a debloated stock rom and less buggy across all xiaomi phones compared to the stock global/China rom it ships with. U should also use 3rd party apps like fluid navigation gesture on the playstore for no stutter instead of miui's full screen gesture from settings. A lot of xiaomi phones can be a way better experience this way even on miui until custom roms are out. Global version for more bands+EU rom instead of global/China+apps like fluid navigation, Google cam, dolby/viper etc. Let me know if it helps

Hardware and cost is good but chinese software is probably the worst part about buying a phone that has trouble getting bootloader unlocked. Xiaomi and oneplus seem to have an advantage with that over most of the other companies even though xiaomi makes u wait forever at least it's still possible

Thanks for all the tips man! Sure it helps! I can't wait till Friday for the 360 hours of waiting to be up. I will right away install EU rom, and as you said, it already is a much more fluid experience, but even after that I will install the fluid navigation gesture as you suggested, and also a different launcher.
One thing though, I am crazy about better sound and with stock MIUI there is no way to 'tweak' Bluetooth sound (EQ, better, bass, control base frequency, etc). I used to have a Note 8 I gave to my uncle which had a crazy amount of tweaks that made me much more satisfied with Bluetooth sound even though we all know it is just 'average sound'.
Do you know which vyper4android mod works best for the redmi note 7? Can I still something similar? have you tried any? Or is it just a universal one?

low touch latency on redmi note 7

I wonder do anyone else face this problem?
When i scroll through things, it seem to lag behind a bit. I also tried to compare it with other phones and this phone seem to have a much higher touch latency than the others.
Anyone facing similar issues on this phone?
I have the EEA version of the phone and nope, no troubles at all and the touch is so responsive and smooth ?
The same problems here, Global version.
same here, global variant RN7

Mine 4/64
Same problem. Very frustrating. RN 7 global version, 4/64gb
Yes, me too. Especially annoying when typing - keyboard is very laggy and driving me crazy.
I had the same feeling on my old crappy Mi A2 Lite. It was much better after switching to a custom Kernel (Butterfly Kernel).
Now I have the 128GB Global RN7 and touch responsiveness feels just fine. No problems at all.
what MIUI version you guys use?
some people who use miui 10.3.5 global rom have possible same problem with yours

What miui version are you on?
So far, my Global Version 3 day old RN7 on 10.3.5 doesn't seem to have bad touch latency.
Was nervous about that considering this phone is my first Xiaomi device.
So far so good.
Have you all tried using the old Touch Screen Booster app? Not sure if the apk is still on the Play store.
Try the app if you can. It fixes a lot of touch sensitive issues without root.
Won't make your phones touch response iPhone level smooth but it will fix whatever ailments you're having
I have the RN7 Global and not facing any of the problems people comment about the phone... No lags, no video rec problems, no battery drain, none of all...
My guess: We would face palm us hard if we knew what apps some people install...

Man... Sorry to hear.
Is the app the one that's got the neon green color icon?
If that doesn't work your digitizer could be defective or the update to 10.3.5 could have altered how your touch input functions.
If that's the case, you could also try both touch screen repair and touch screen calibration apps.
Unlike SGS, they're both paid apps in the app store that should help improve your touch response without root.
I used both on my honor 8 and can vouch they improve touch latency response on our phones

I also tried those and they say my original latency is around 47 ms, which is quite okay by this number, but it just doesn't really feel right. Everytime i scroll something, it just seem to lag behind quite a bit unlike other phones. Just tapping on things seems really fine though, no delay for that. And i also went to the store today and tested the demo there. I found out that the demo also have a similar problem. Can i conclude that this problem is not a defect for my phone?

Not sure.
1. Are you also on MIUI ver 10.3.5?
2. Was your touch response ever working fine beforehand and the latest update broke it?
3. What other phones are you comparing the RN7's touch response with?
For me I'll answer:
1. Yes... But I find then touch response the same vs the prior version of MIUI that was on my phone right before it updated to 10.3.5
2. See my response to #1
3. I'm comparing the touch to:
IPhone 6s(which is still the fastest touch response to date), Honor 8 which was great but with the apps above, touch latency/response improved and Galaxy S9+.
I find Redmi Note 7 is slower than our iPhone 6S, close to my Honor 8 with the apps mentioned in the previous post and on par with the S9+ I played with in store.
I found that bizzare since AMOLED screens typically have faster touch response vs IPS/LCD etc.
What are you guys seeing?
