I had a Sony Xperia Z3+ and when it was pure stock I would get 3-4 hours but that was with a disadvantage, I had to tailer myself to not game or use it heavily as it had the notorious SD810 and would easily hit 80°c while browsing and playing simple games. When a kernel came out SOT didn't improve much just user ex and heat. So yeah this 3T tops it in all my main areas sound, camera and can use it however I feel. :highfive:

First charge.

I haven't done anything, using dark theme's where possible but other than that it's just my daily usage but constantly. Today been using it on YouTube, Tidal streaming, browsing and playing pinout. Sitting at 25% 6H 48M SoT. I f**king love this phone. Just wait till I root and get the tweaks back on

Did you even use your phone? I bet you just enabled so the screen doesnt turn off and placed it on desk.. Thats unfair if you did that as the cpu is running on low mhz all the time

Some people get good battery on every device and some people always get bad battery. I always get great battery on all my phones and this one is no exception. I've hit 10, 11, and 12 hours screen on time and have not done anything to save battery.

I believe you tho, 3400mah is not a small battery plus you posted a lot of stats /graphs and details about your battery usage

Yeah because I come on XDA for attention
Temperature changes wouldn't happen if it was having a holiday on a desk? Or high constant WiFi data if I wasn't streaming music.

People do a lot of stuff here just to get likes xD

I get 7-8 hours sot, using my 3T as any other phone.

I used to get aswell 7-8h on the Oneplus One, constantly on WiFi (with LTE it was worse, 5h SoT). Mainly using chrome, tapatalk, flipboard. (no games).
Now on the 3T its pretty the same (7-8h SoT on WiFi).
ofc games will drain it alot more. its depending on usage.
you also get different results when ure on Enterprise WiFis (high dtim interval, authentication system, etc.), then your WiFi could consume much(!) more battery.
at my work, even 4G takes less power than WiFi. While at home, wifi takes nearly nothing (8h idle on wifi = 1-2% max. drain)

Pretty good battery here. Getting 7 hrs most times although my s7 edge exynos would give me somewhere from 5 hrs to 6.5 hrs sot, O3T SOT is amazing.

This sounds too good to be true. The best i've had is this:
I know it could have lasted a while longer but thats when i had to charge it for the night and i highly doubt i could have stretched that anywhere near 40 hours the way i use my phone. This is with persiansown's 925 btw

Sort of... 3G uses less power than WiFi in some ways, and more in others...
In general, WiFi uses less for data because it is faster and thus spends less time fully charged up. But 3G uses less power when charged, but at slower speeds, so it ends up using more... ie, WiFi uses, say, 3power x 1sec=3 where as 3G uses 2power x 2sec=4.

That is a sticky at the top of this forum, read the first post it has a chart showing what uses what.

3% screen usage? Did you even use it at all? next time can you include the usage for each of the items listed in the list? would be helpful for comparisons
40 hours only?
I reached 3 days with this kernel meaning 72h and yes I used wifi,market,camera,sms... but all in light to moderate use.
My N1 is 5 weeks old so perhaps the battery cycles are beginning to make it last more too.
The minimum battery I have now is 48h when using ''Men's health'' app for an hour (lot of screen usage) while at body building.
I wonder if GPS will eat battery too fast

Are you sure you only used it for a 30 minute voice call? There's definitely something fishy there, it isn't normal behavior. If you have 3G on and you're in a place with bad reception a lot, or you have screen on (especially with max brightness), it can take up a lot of battery.
Install something like Spare Parts from the market which can show you battery usage history and use it to check whether you have any rogue apps running. If there's nothing suspicious there, you probably have a faulty battery. Any games using the rotation sensor even when they should be closed take up a lot of battery.

Well I'm in Manhattan, NY. Even though my signal is very strong outside(-51dBm) while in door its around -90dBm to 111dBm. SO I guess that could be a slight cause. I have it my phone on "gsm auto(PRL)" which has help. I also have the brightness on AUTO and everything else I do with this phone like texting, reading and the occasional browsing does not pass 20min. So a total of hour.
Now even after a fresh charge I loose 10% in 5hrs without every turning the screen on. This my second swap and I have 3 batteries. They all do the same thing. I just installed Spare Parts, lets see how this goes.
I have original stock rom unlocked
and currently it's been on 18 hours and I still have 77% battery left!

Looking forward to this release! At work I have a hard time charging my phone. Getting notifications all day and being able to use the phone normally is great but I am work for over 8 hours. If I can click a widget and reduce battery drain while I am not using it....awesome! I can always press the widget to restore when I want to view back to normal. I can see how this would be useless to most, but this gives me the ability to use the phone for that 8 hours and not have the phone die before I get home.
I dont get why anyone would trade a great looking for screen for a unicolor one just for one more day of battery life.....
EPIC FAIL.................
Terrible idea. Why don't we just buy 5 year old blackberries...They have great battery life.
Yeah, this is really dumb.

But if filters are posible why can't we change the colors by ourself (reduce the saturation for some who don't like it)... Sounds plausible after seeing this hack, love to see an APK or ROm which have included this... Some Days battery hold for hours and hours, other day my max is 8/9 hours (heavy usage )

well you would get that battery life if your degrading your cpu to Hero standards, lollol
Im overclocking on CM6's standard pershoot .34 kernel and im getting a day always, i take it off charge at 8am and when i get home around 7pm its at about 20-30 percent... And that is proper heavy use, I watch video's on the way to work, mp3, browsing, the phone is actually an extension of my bod lol
I think this is the norm if you want to have the super phone you paid for, and not underclock it and undervolt it into T-mobile pulse territory, lol
JD
Those replying this is stupid need not bother in this thread any long I guess.
For me, usually my battery lasts long enough, but at the same time, the time I might need it would be I've finished my work day and just found I'm not going home to charge it but need to go elsewhere, or like yesterday I had to stay at work and my N1 was needed, but I couldn't charge. When you realise you need to stretch your battery life, you want to know what you should change to extend it. This is just another of those options. It will be useful to have for emergencies.
I for one would like to see this added as an option. As stated in certain cases it could be very useful to be able to use the phone with screen on and lower the battery drain.

I know why my battery drains. I know what apps I am running and I can keep track of all that. I have chosen all my own apps and run what I want/need during that 8 hours. No work around other than turning off those apps. What is the point then? Keep my battery lasting longer but not enjoy the phone and all its purposes? I could always just turn my phone off. No apps running then. Like I said, this would not apply to very many users out there, but not all users are in my situation.

If you have the RGB multipliers on the voodoo app to full and brightness on full you will get 2:30 mins lollol, found that out at uni yesterday;P
But that was heavy usage as well But i could see everything on the screen in direct bright sunshine)
Biggest killers are things like powerAMP(but worth it), virus scanners, anything you have syncing under 1 hour...

3g data is a big one. You can switch the phone to 2g when your not using the internet or sending and receiving pictures. YouTube / videos, and music are the main killers. If you limit the use and use SETCPU to underclock the phones processor then you'd be fine.
I normally get about 14-15 hours from moderate use with 3g data, GPS setting and auto brightness all on. In my opinion that is excellent especially considering what the phone can do.

what? i get 24 hours+ with 3G (HSDPA) on all day. this is only true depending on your location, if you're in a place with weak 3G signal, then yes it'll drain.. but that applies to anything. if you have weak service, it'll stress more on the radio causing more battery to be used.
SetCPU: Profiles will cause phone to reboot/shut down etc etc. All sorts of problems can happen. And OP said he's not rooted so this is not an option.
My brightness is set to 0.00%

no one ever said heavy use.. moderate use, i could go on for 24 hours+ easily.
its not "bull****" all you have to do is:
A) Apps with syncing (reduce them to 2 hours+ rather than every 10min/30m/1hour)
B) USE BLACK WALLPAPERS! this is a must. white on the Nexus S (or any Super AMOLED screen) is absolutely kryptonite
C) Flash a custom ROM + Netarchy's 1.3.0.2 CFS Kernel. (This is a must as well)
D) GPS/WiFi/BT off.
E) Possibly recalibrate your battery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1031531 Attached is your proof. NSCollab is pretty much CM7 + some minor modifications.
Now can y'all stop being disrespectful? We're not here to say our battery lasts over 24 hours+ just to mess with your head and make you feel bad. It's the truth. You just need to do these little small things to get the best out of your battery.

technically speaking the phone can last several days in standby
Push email/gmail on 3g kills the battery pretty fast.
Push email (exchange) + push gmail on 3g destroys the battery
So if you "push" sync anything (email, twitter, latitude etc) on 3g, you can simply forget about a decent battery life.

Just because you haven't been able to achieve it doesn't mean people are lying to you. I have a thread about my battery life lasting 24hrs+ and I still had 16% when I put it on the charger. And that was with 2.5 hrs of calling, the screen on for a couple hours, syncing, facebooking, video recording and uploading, and some other things. Maybe you should take a look at that thread and see what you can do differently instead of being disrespectful.
In case you have not try this, you can try disable Location service from 'Location & Security' settings. Turn off both 'Use wireless networks' and 'Use GPS satellites'.
This worked for me.

It's a combination of all of the above.... location and push email (other than gmail..I have my work email updating every hour) and bright colored screens are the 3 killers I found...and obviously staying on 3G adds to it.. I can last a good 17-19 hours on mostly 2G (maybe 3G when downloading heavy stuff), with just above average use... that number is good enough for me...charging overnight is all I need.. I also have weatherbug updating every 2 hours...
oh and make sure u don't have that init bug... using OS monitor, check if /init keeps fluctuating...if so, check the debug mode in your settings,.. always have the box checked and you will notice a huge difference
funny how people freak out when someone has done something that they perceive as unachievable... just like when android was ported to the HD2 XD everyone that saw mine was like WTF!? now its all normal and expected @[email protected]
but just as everyone has been mentioning, there are ways to get 24+ hours of battery life, its just all the small things that make a difference =)

Shocking battery life

yes well after I wiped everything to re install mikfroyo .4.62 to fix an error I kept getting something surprising happened.
At 6 am I unit my device each day. Now it is 11 pm and I had 49 percent left. That is with about 70 messages, internet browsing l, reading some questionablecontent comic, reading the articles on CNET, two calls. Bluetooth on for 3 hours, 3 short phone calls. Reading xda using this app. Sendong a few mms, and photo downloads.
Now Idk wtf happening to get this battery life but it is amazing.
I also use the throttle tweak, netarchy toatmods.4.3.4 more havs, battery increment fix, and have never gotten anywhere close to this kind of battery life.... ever....
Just thought it was amazing
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
First, you can never judge battery life until you have ran a rom for a few days. THe first few days will always be a lot better or a lot worse. Second, did you wipe battery stats? Or run the Battery Calibration app? If you didnt, you could be getting a false reading, and while your phone says 40 percent, it may be more like 10, and your phone could die any time.
Yes I did the full large techniques.and reset battey stats everytime I flash. and I have ran this donbefore as in I had an issue that I had to re flash the Rom. Nothing is different except I wiped everything this time LOL. I know the whole Rom and battery thing jot my first time flashing not the last.

when i was running cm 6.1.2, after calibrating everything and tweaking all my settings just right, on full juice that was about right. the phone sleep was awesome. I would go about 30-35 hours, but with light surfing, texting here/there and phone calls. maybe -maybe some gps but that usually lessoned my hours. under heavy usage i would get 18 hours or so. ...i miss that cm 7 doesn't seem to be anywhere near that.
I averaged 1day 9hrs on CM7...with 3 hours of playing emulators and some calls, ect.
And lol at the "questionable content comics."

It's just the cynic in me. But whenever I've seen people post ridiculous battery life like this with a stock battery, I immediately discredit it unless I see a picture of the battery usage.
And almost every time I've seen someone post the pics trying to "prove" their amazing battery life, they either
a) claimed to use a stock battery but were actually using an extended one (people went back through their posts and saw that they had extended
or
b) they had almost no display usage

Well first off, I don't blame you for being skeptical, cuz I used to be too, untill I started getting it. And second, I won't say something unless I can back it up.
Setup:
Rom: CM7, latest nightly
Kernel : Tiamat 4.0.2 / 3.3.7 [both are the best, in my opinion, 4.0.0 breaks cameras, stay away from it.]
Undervolt: Viperboy's bsm -100mv extreme / bsm v2
I don't use setcpu or juice defender.

Well that is true but this is my first time. It is the same exact Rom I just had to re flash. And been running for three days now. It is shocking me to. When I get home I will try to get a screebshot of the batter stats to prove the off charge time and battery usage stats..

Look, if you can't keep track of time, that's your problem. I can well keep track of time and have fixed my phone to suite my needs, and able to get 3 hours of emulator play; if you device fails to perform to that task, not my problem. I'm here to provide information and share my stats, as everyone else he does. If you feel the need to post ignorant degraded posts because you may not believe something, then you sir are ignorant. I won't be putting anymore effort into this, so deuces.
How good a single person's battery life is irrelevant. Consistent results among the majority of users is what is needed. The Droid Charge needs to come to Sprint so we can get a day of heavy use easily.

Well I can definitely tell you're not trying to bash, you literally are doing it. Just cause you're not trying hard (or at all) to do it doesn't mean that you aren't doing it.

I will not have bickering over battery lifes or outrages claims on this topic..
It is unneeded,
It's really fascinating to me how some people can get over 24 hours of battery life
on the Evo. I don't think I have bad battery life while my phone lasts about 7 hours, but that's at pretty moderate use. Maybe if I just left my phone alone I can get over 24 hours, but what would be the point of that? Just my thought, everyone uses their phone differently so everyone is going to have different battery life.
And its true that the EVO 3D has a bigger battery, but it also has dual core processor and 3D among other things, so I don't think the results will differ much.
Poor signal strength = short battery life.

I believe the newer processor & graphics chipset use less power than those in the Evo 4G so there could be a decent gain in up time.

It seems that many people talking about battery life forget about the effects signal strength, especially if you have several services syncing data in the background.
Personally I find signal strength to be the largest variable in my battery life, not just on the Supersonic but on a Rhodium and a Kaiser as well. I have a horrible signal at my home (no carrier has a decent signal at my home) and with light usage my battery will be dead in 6-8 hours. When I am at work where I get an excellent signal I can spend 2-3 hours on the phone, and receive and review dozens of email and only use about 15% of my battery.
The moral of the story is that the same phone on the same rom with the same settings and usage can perform drastically different in different areas.

FHD+ or WQHD+

Hi S10+ owners,
My current screen resolution is FHD+. Wanted to change that to WQHD+.. before that wanted to ask you guys if anyone experiencing any noticeable battery drainage? especially when the phone is in idle state/screensaver mode?
Thanks

You should check your deep sleep percentagebif you are having a battery problems. Cause most of the time the s10 exynos does enter into deep sleep even while idle.
I easily get 10h+ Sot at 1440p.
I remember reading that running at fullhd+ will only give you about 30 min of extra battery life a day, I think the health of your eyes is more important, higher definition reduces eye strain and it definitely looks way better when gaming.
10 hours?
How do you manage that? I thought I was doing good with 7 or so. I have it WQHD with brightness set to just below the warning mark.
Anyways, the way I see it, if the resolution is there, I'm gonna use it. No point in having it not to use it. As long as my battery gets me through the day, which it has done easily since I got, with heavy use as well, then I'm happy.

I have very strict app management habits and whenever anything goes out of order it gets uninstalled forever.
The "worst" screenshot was taken at 17%, half the time on LTE and max brightness, the best was during a more relaxing day and ended at 3%
I'm going another full battery run today, 2h Sot and still at 88% battery so far, this time I uninstalled Nova and Sesame to see how OneUI Home stands against them.

Care to share more in depth on this? I havent even really been on my phone today and i'm at 80% with an hour of SOT

for long time i used FHD+ then switched to WQHD+ and i dont see any difference in battery life (if there is any its not a deal breaker)

Would you like an in depth guide on how to optimise this phone for battery life?
I was thinking about making one completely dedicated to this device, no generic android crap, there is a lot of potential.

Yeah I think you would get a lot of people interested in something like this. I am happy to get 5-7 hours of SOT, would be awesome to get even more. I have all my location settings turned off for every app basically so dunno where else to start really after that

There's negligable battery difference between FHD and WQHD+. But there is definitely a difference in visual quality. You should definitely use WQHD+.
As for those who are saying they get x hours SOT. You can't compare with others. It's different for everyone. It depends on a massive number of factors. How good a cell reception you get, brightness, what you have enabled (wifi, bluetooth, NFC etc), AOD, what apps are running, what apps you use, what you use the phone for during the day, was the phone used for long period or intermittent use.
It's silly to ry to compare or match others. Just be happy with your own use, otherwise you'll spend more time trying to get more SOT, than you will just actually using and enjoying the phone.

Does wifi affects battery? is it better to use 4G or Wifi for longer battery lifetime?

I guess that depends on the quality of your connection. If your reception is not very good at home your radio might be really busy getting a proper signal.

Wifi will use less battery if both have a good signal, to answer your question
