Got an official security update after 1.5 years. - Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 General

This morning, I turned it on and found that there was a security update. I thought Samsung had completely abandoned it and was going to disable automatic update check.
Perhaps I hoped too much. I was hoping that the version would go up from 5.0.2 to 5.1, but the version remained the same. The only changes I have found are
1. Security Patch Level is now 2016-11-01
2. System Panel does not show process names any more.
Well, at least they have not completely abandoned it yet.... or have they?

No update here, but if true, that's quite a positive surprise!

this is amazing news. Maybe we will get an upgrade to marshmallow? :crying:
Not complaining too much as battery life is still amazing on stock.

World peace is more likely than that.

I thought it came out Q1 2014? It's barely 3 years old! Samsung is known for amazing software updates right?
/end sarcasm.
LMAO. World peace IS probably more likely than us receiving an official marshmallow update.

LOL
I love my pro but I am very skeptical about an update of any sort at this date

I just got this myself

Just got this update too. 243.38 MB. The update includes 'security enhancements' and 'device stability improvements'

March 19th OTA update
I just got an OTA update on March 19th, 2017. Bestill my heart...
Software updated P905VVRSBPL1
Android 5.1.1

^Me too. 63,55 MB! Seems to be a security patch.

My two tablets just received about 60MB updates. Installing now
Edit: both security updates with weird names

Hello how you get this update on my lte p905,i'm still on 5.02

The security update doesn't change the Android version. Try Smart Switch or the sammobile website!

P600 - Kitkat is rolling out in Germany

Ha! And it only took 5 months until the first 4.4 update in the US was released.
Don't know which version it is yet, but the update has 579 MB. I'm currently downloading it and will report the version as soon as I have installed it.
Something went wrong I downloaded the file and tried to install it, but after the Reset it said that the Firmware update could not be installed, I should try with PC (Kies). I connected to Kies but no new firmware was found. I tried to update OTA again, but it said that the newest firmware is already installed (it's still the old one)
I don't know if Samsung removed the OTA update again or my tablet has some issues. I'll wait for other German users to report.
No problem here, even after restart no problems.....

I actually can't believe we have it in the UK!!
Cheers for letting me know @thomlh ... I have auto updates off incase its a duff update as I suffered problems with the last S3 update before they went back and stopped coz the S3 updates had loads of issues. I was stuck with a paper weight for a week.
Is it running smoothly?
P.s. create a new thread for UK update as I dont want to take credit for telling people - that way we can talk about any issues with the update for UK users.
I tried the update a second time this morning and now it worked. Great!

V20e-SEA-XX| New nougat update for the h860 (Singapore)

You can download the update now through LG Bridge, if you prefer the kdz file you can download it from here
The update was released on the 28/4/17
Android Security Patch level is April 1, 2017
Kernel 3.18.31
Size: 2.64gb
Now you would think that an update that would be as heavy as 2.64GB would be the glorious long awaited nougat 7.1.2, but think again :^)

Nope haha this is for the Singapore device! not the taiwan!
it is somewhat theoretically POSSIBLE to still be able to flash it on your Taiwan, but I wouldnt do that if I were you, you'd might just brick your phone!
TBH the signapore firmwares SUCK and have an incredible battery drain, I think you better off flashing the Honk Kong one on your phone, just make sure to see if someone were able to successfully flash it on their Taiwan device!

OTA received for US unlocked s8+

Received Oreo OTA with march security update. Anyone else got it?
I don't believe that's Oreo. I have an unlocked S8+. I got the OTA a couple days ago; the size is 1353.14 MB.
I've read nothing but negative things about this OTA. I'm not going to install it, but then what happens to security updates that come after this?

If you say so, but this is my Oreo notification. Notice it says it's the Oreo update, which the screenshot of the first poster's does not, and it is a much larger download:

Its Oreo, look at the version number, it's the same. The size varies, I was upgrading from oreo beta to full oreo. I believe you are updating from nougat, that why your download size is much bigger.

Oreo update!

Oreo is being pushed out in the UK, to unlocked phones (BTU, im pretty sure) the past day, is it possible for us to flash one of their firmwares on our phones? Or we have to wait for the update to roll out here?

The model that is being updated is the sm-g935f. It runs on a Exynos processor, but your sm-g935v runs on a snapdragon processor. Unfortunately, we have to wait.

My G935V got the update notification yesterday. You may want to try a force update to see if it will send you the oreo update.
NM it was just that 7.0 patch sorry if i got people excited, the google results were saying oreo.

My Phone Cannot fetch new updates

Hello,
I have Samsung Galaxy S10+ unlocked which I purchased in March-2019.
It is not able to update to latest version of software. The last update it got was in April-2019.
After that it does not get any new updates. I downloaded SmartSwitch App, in hopes that it will update the software, but it also says the software update is current.
I contacted Samsung Customer care, they told me Factory Reset the phone. Which i don't want to do.
Is there any other way i Can force my phone to get the latest update?
Here are the screenshots of the phone.

You can use Frija and odin to manually update without root or wipe. You should find the threads located in discussion forum on the S10plus.
Did you ever do a manual software update or have software done at an official samsung authorized store or repair center?

Thank You Darkat. I used your method and was able to update it to the latest version.
I have one question, will it in future receive updates from Samsung or no?
Thanks

I assume that it would, my update came from my carrier, not Samsung. I did the initial jump in December to Android 10, i received Jan update, my Dec Build was the same as what my carrier released.
