U dont have to root. Go to settings, storage and format SD as internal memory. It works, I tested it and reverse it back because it was to f.... slow!!! I try it with 32Gb class4 card, and i belive you must have class10 Card . Check first what class do you have.

Unfortunately the format option only has the "format as portable storage option"...no option to format as internal?

Problem with xoom MZ604

Hi guys.
Bought a S/H xoom wifi 32gb yesterday (UK) and I have a few issues with it.
When I go into recover (3e) and I try to apply update from SD card (trying to root with root file from this site) , the system doesnt "see" the SD card, tried a 512mb and an 8gb card, formatted in FAT & FAT32, it just says it failed to mount SD card.
The SD card works fine in the OS (4.0.4) , I can read and write to the card, but recovery doesnt see it. Any ideas? or is the another way I can root it so I can put jellybean on it? Any help appreciated.

What asus build version have you installed? Is a version number like 12.4.5.22
Had you inserted a micro sd when trying to backup?

Yes, it was inside as I booted to recovery mode.
I tried backing up with a micro sd and without one but gives the same error. The sd card us fine since the phone can read it and store stuff.
Try by changing microsd, using a formatted fat32 of min 2gb

Which one did you use? I used xposed-v67-sdk21 to install via flashing and it bricked the device. Good thing I had a back up.
Edit: Found one that worked!!

No. First I inserted sd card but unfortunately it was corrupted so I had to remove it. Since phone wasn't accepting the SD card it never gave me option to set it as internal or portable storage. Internal was unavailable from the beginning itself however internal storage is accessible in Stock, beta 5 firmware . I also tried to re flash but no success.

Format SD Card from PC. then use it again.
I recommended use a faster (XC or HC) SD Card.(Class 10) for better performance.

Bcoz.... Flashing a ROM means install a new OS on the system(device). It format partitions and install whole OS on it.
Also boot time takes longer than usually for first time.

Hi,
I faced the same problem as you.
The solution that worked for me is...
You can set up the device's internal in settings-->Storage and USB
For the Card do this...
Go to the developers options and enable root access and local terminal.
Open the terminal app and type
su
Click to collapse
and hit enter. Allow root access.
Type
sm list-disks
Click to collapse
You should see the disk's name i.e. SD card. If you don't see it. Format your card as FAT32 from PC first and then try.
Now type
sm set-force-adoptable true
Click to collapse
Wait for it... Now there should be a card ready to be set up in the notification bar.

SM-J320F Setting External SD card as Internal

Hi all,
I'm new to smartphones and this is my first phone . I'm trying to sent external SD card as internal storage. Issue is that phone has only 8GB of ROM and by default 3.2 is System and 3.5 is Used space. So there is just a tiny space left on the internal memory. Android version is 5.1.1. I have rooted it with TWRP 3.0.2-0 and SuperSU. SD card is Kingstone SDca3/32GBn0557-004A00LF.
I have been reading a lot of tuturials to make external memory internal with no luck. I have tried adb tools, formating it with Mini Tool Partition Wizard-DroidThunder, a2sd, Link2SD, etc... I'm also OK with installing custom ROMs that will enable me to make internal memory of my SD card.
Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks xD.

I was able to install RR 8.5.8 with Android 7.1, SD card is formated as internal storage. It's OK for now, but still when I go to storage internal SD and external appear as to separate cards. I have migrated all the stuff to external. Some app. do not have option to move to external SD card. Both cards are appearing as separate units. I have seen this tutorial https://www.androidpit.com/how-to-format-microsd-cards-as-internal-storage. It appears that both cards are seen as one by the Android. This is exactly what I want. I have been trying this article with no joy. Can some one please explain me that exactly I need to do? Thanks XD!
hello there i am also interested in getting this done for a friend...would love to know your results so far as of what little i know about spreadtrum devices they are notoriously hard to work with and tend to brick quite often.. @1Igrach if you could post your results regarding this issue it would be much appreciated thank you
