Nobody has to get that done. It's already done. Fastboot OEM unlock unlocks the bootloader. And root with SuperSu or phh superuser. All we really need is TWRP.

lol u r correct, i forgot about that, i guess just have to wait on a TWRP then.

TWRP is actually waiting on you.
Join #twrp and you'll have it. (see signature for link, or click here)
Basically, we don't have the crypto libraries needed for decrypt because OnePlus hasn't made 3T firmware available yet.
I want you to install a half-working build of TWRP and guide you through making a full firmware flashing backup so I can use that to complete support.
Hop, skip, get to it!
(and no, you will get nothing good out of waiting for someone else to step up)
PS. if you post here saying you will come if no one else does, all you're doing is stopping other people from assisting
Update 1:42 AM EST: no one's showed up yet so I can only assume not many people have received their device yet. i'm gonna take a nap now and i'll be back on in ~10 hours... so about 12 PM EST maybe later. you won't find me online before then. (that's 5 PM UTC+0)

You need to be registered, you can join #jcadduonoisawesome or just /msg jcadduono hi I'll be awake for the next 20 minutes I guess.
You could also just choose a name you want, type /ns register <password> <email address>, then click link in email and be able to join any channel on IRC you like.
No risk.

nope, you can probably also just make a rooted boot.img to flash with fastboot but why bother when twrp is much easier?

I was thinking, is it possible to do 'fastboot update supersu.zip' first, then backup all the partition first before doing anything. At a minimum you should be able to backup the recovery and rom partition so you can't screw up too bad, since there is no ROM image and official TWRP at the moment.

thanks to @dustin_b twrp is almost complete, I have backup images stored at https://build.nethunter.com/misc/oneplus3T/partitions/ for now which should work through fastboot flash (100% stock, untouched, all dd copies)
should have a public TWRP image up in an hour or 2

I hope that we will see CM14.1 in a week or two. Oxygen OS is a mess full of security bugs.

Cool so root and twrp tonight

Bump for this!
We really need a recovery for A700F, we already have root thanks to ShinySide, but without Recovery there's no chance for custom ROMS.
I would have developed/ported it by myself but I haven't found any guide how to do it and I don't have the sufficient knowledge.

You're wrong, as long as you have root you can install custom roms with Flashfire, in fact it does most things a custom recovery can including backups.
If I get time I'll knock up a build of twrp.
What build is this device running at the moment, is it bootloader unlocked and is it Exynos or qualcomm?
I require someone to upload their recovery.img from the stock firmware.
Note: I don't have this device so a decent tester is required who doesn't mess about.

Thats not a problem I just need to adjust the resolution.
It works OK apart from that, backups etc?
Can you check adb works. Load ADB, Connect your device and type ADB DEVICES. See if your device is detected.
What's your time zone? I'm UK so it's around 1.00pm now, won't be home until 7pm ish.
Will you be available for more testing?

So i am sitting at around 3:22 pm on Athens time-zone and the unfortunate thing is that i will be leaving home by 7pm and be returning by 10:30pm (School stuff :/ ) so we can work after i am home ,that'd be around 8:30 for your time-zone. Everything seems usable , I am installing as i am typing, the adb services along with SDK. Will update when i get it up and running. Cheers

What is needed to port / build TWRP?

I'm not a Dev. (I wish i was one) but what to we need to build or port TWRP to our devices?
I manage to capture this screen while trying to figure out why i wasn't able to flash the boot_OTA from @jkuczera thread and i don't know if this can help. It has the " RECOVERY FileSystem Table ".

The TWRP team cannot afford to buy every device made. However, TWRP is fully open source, so you may begin the porting process by using the compile guide at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32965365
Although you may be able to compile it, testing is another matter. You will need a stock recovery image to revert to when your TWRP doesn't work properly.
I have received a request and will begin porting it today, I'll need someone with an unlocked bootloader to join #twrp between 1 pm and 2 am EST for testing.
I'm still having trouble finding stock firmware, however. I may be able to get around this, I'll also see about making a full factory firmware fastboot flashable.

How To Root easily without any kind of Tools and installing OTAs - beginner's Guide.

Hello,
my aim here is to sort out things easily for beginner's, hence I made a detailed video on How To Root and Unlock Bootloader using TWRP and Magisk with the help of ADB drivers and Magisk.
which is,
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot flash recovery xxx.img
flash the TWRP and Magisk, you have a rooted device.
I have made a detailed Video, check it out,
Links are provided in the description and I will be updating it.
TWRP Credits to @eng.stk
Magisk Credits to @topjohnwu
while updating your ROM,
Flash the FULL ROM ZIP
Wipe Dalvik Cache and Cache
Flash Masgik
to be on the safer side, reboot.
backup stock kernel
flash the custom kernel
you will continue to get the OTAs but in FULL ZIPs, not in Incremental Updates.
ROMs are updated here - https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...-5t-mirrors-official-oxygen-os-t3708099/page5

Nice video. Perhaps the phone portions could zoom in a little more, but you mention in the video links but I didn't see them. It would be helpful in your first post to have the links to adb/fb, recommended twrp, and magisk. That will save N00b from hunting around for the drivers and packages. Also when I make videos I tend to stay away from version numbers because they are always changing, that is why it's easier to update in the post, unless you expect to keep updating the video. HTH

Flash GSI Roms on Razer Phone 2!

While looking around and trying to compile TWRP and getting errors doing so, I have finall come accross a solution as to how to get GSI roms to boot, it seems we needed special flash instructions and im eve gonna test some other things later. But without further do, here are the instructions!
Step 1: Go here and read instructions CAREFULLY! "https://www.xda-developers.com/flash-generic-system-image-project-treble-device/"
Step 2: We need special flash instructions so flash this command. "fastboot --disable-verity --disable-verification flash vbmeta vbmeta.img" (Special flashing instructions here https://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...18&postcount=2)
Step 3: if it doesnt work, try again. I am currently booting into Phh-Treble.
Step 4: Rejoice as we can now get away from stock!

Will do, rooting is fairly easy. is the att version? or global. i have the att version but flashed the global version stock rom.
I believe its the global version. I don't have att network.

what you want to do is downlaod the stock rom, unzup it to desktop. copy your boot.img to your phone. download magisk manager from the xda thread. install the manager and then patch the boot.img. reboot the phone and you'll see it in your downlads. copy that to your stock rom folder (you'll need adb and fastboot files). run the command "fastboot flash boot boot.img" and youre rooted. but at this current time root is kinda pointless.
also... be sure to check out the root guide first. forgot you need to unlock bootloader and critical.

I'm kind of a noob in this regard. Can I PM you to get further Details on the rooting?
"but at this current time root is kinda pointless."
Also your right about this. There's currently no effective use for it right now. But there will soon be more in the future for the phone i believe. I think more people are starting to communicate and experiment with the RP2

Moto G Pure - XT2163-4 root?

Moto G Pure - XT2163-4 root? is there a root out there? thx
Yes. I have the rooted Magisk boot for that very model (attached here). You'll need to be familiar with ADB and fastboot. First step is to go to Motorola Account to Verify with device ID and get Unlock token. Then after receiving the unlock key follow the instructions in your email and then reboot to bootloader and flash the boot.img that I'll upload onto here.
Hey is this moto g pure XT2163-4 is this the Canadian version? Rectus? I think?
It seems like Pure can be rooted but no one reports putting a new ROM on it yet ... I think. What is the benefit of rooting it in this case? I'm pretty new to this ... is it to have more de-bloating options?

Here is the android 12 patched magisk boot img for X2163-4 only! Just make sure your BL is unlocked before flashing this with fastboot
so i got a buddy who has this device and he's having issues with magisk for some reson on 12, anyone else having this issue? I also have an initial twrp done up if anyone is interested. I still gotta fix mtp but it boots and touch is working for his djn novatek screen. I'm attaching a TEST Build of TWRP for you guys. I also have rebuilt the super image and it boots so I'll be cramming some GSI in there at some point. I can be reached live on my Android Telegram group for more in depth coverage of this device as I pry won't post here again

It booted fine, but the notch blocks the clock out and the touch doesn't work on mine, same model "XT2163-4" and on Dec 2022 security patch
And also, what type of issues you mean by, if flashing issues, I didn't had any flashing magisk patched boot.img to it, so far it's working, will post back if I run into any issues

Is it the XT2163-4? If bootloader is unlocked, there should be on somewhere with the rom that contains the boot.img for you to patch it via magisk and flash it

For the unfortunate people with the Tracfone model and can't unlock the bootloader, I will be trying to find the testing points for the phone to access the bootrom so I can use MTK Client to unlock the bootloader and root the phone. I'll update you guys when I find it.
