Beta Test: B109SP01 Downgrade, Simplified method. - Huawei Mate 9 Guides, News, & Discussion

I have simplified the downgrade method to B109SP01 very greatly. I hope that some of you who wish to downgrade can test this method. I will keep this method available temporarily until I have confirmed whether it works. Please see post 2 for instructions.

To downgrade from any version to B109SP01 with Google framework.
MAKE SURE YOU FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS EXACTLY! I CANNOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR BRICKED DEVICES!
Step 1: Go to the admin settings of your wifi router. Find the WAN DNS Server setting, and set it to 133.130.88.119 Connect to your wifi with a phone or computer, and try to access http://query.hicloud.com:80/ in a browser. If it says Successful. Please proceed. you know your DNS settings are correct.
Step 2:
--THIS IS TRICKY SO READ CAREFULLY!--
Plug the USB cable from your phone to your computer.
**MAKE SURE THE USB CABLE STAYS PLUGGED IN TO YOUR COMPUTER**
On your phone, go to Settings, Advanced Settings, Backup & Reset, Factory data reset. When the factory data reset finishes, you will need to hold the volume up key as the phone reboots, to get directly into eRecovery mode.
Step 3:
You are now in eRecovery mode. Choose to download and restore the phone. If your network settings are correct, you will see the version is MHA-AL00C00B106 which the eRecovery is downloading. If you see MHA-AL00C00B109SP01, please cancel the update, do a factory restore again, and try the update again. If you see anything else as the version, something is wrong with your DNS settings, or with my server.
Step 4:
Once the MHA-AL00C00B106 download has completed, it will install.
** VERY IMPORTANT. WHEN THE INSTALL IS FINISHED, YOU MUST HOLD THE VOLUME UP KEY TO GET BACK INTO eRECOVERY. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO BOOT B106!! **
It is EXTREMELY important you watch your phone when the recovery finishes. The phone will reboot automatically. Make sure you are holding the volume up key when this automatic reboot happens to go immediately back to eRecovery. If you are not, your phone will temporarily boot loop and you will have to go back to B125 and start over.
** AGAIN, HOLD THE VOLUME UP KEY WHEN THE RESTORE IS FINISHING SO IT REBOOTS INTO eRECOVERY MODE. VERY IMPORTANT **
Step 5: You are back in eRecovery mode. Great! Now, when you check for the recovery version, it will show B109SP01. If it shows B106, please cancel and reboot back to eRecovery and try again. If it shows anything else, something is wrong with your DNS settings, or with my server. The B109SP01 download is much smaller than the B106 download, and it will finish in a few moments. When it's finished, you can boot up your phone, and it will be on B109SP01!
Step 6: Go to the HiApp store, and get Google Play. Congratulations, you are finished!
If you fail: Reset your wifi router's DNS settings, and run eRecovery to install B125 (or B115, depending on your current version). Then, please try again from the beginning.
In conclusion: If you would like to donate to my research, please send me a PM. Feel free to click thanks button too! If anyone has a linux/bsd server they will let me use for this, please PM me. Also, if you speak another language, you can translate these instructions to help make the solution world-wide.
---------------------------------------------------
Update: Some people have had issues with bootlooping/failed install. Here are some other things that you should be aware of which might help you avoid this problem.
1. If you cancel the update half-way through, you must go to recovery and wipe before you try again. Try your hardest NOT to cancel the update half-way through, even if download is slow. This is the cause of most problems, I think.
2. Before you flash each version, make sure you wipe. I'm not sure if it's necessary, but it might help to wipe between installing B106 and installing B109SP01.
3. When you wipe, make sure to wipe both system AND cache. Do both. Every time you wipe.
4. When you first wipe from the settings menu in B125 (not the recovery. Make sure it's from the settings menu), do not let the phone boot up regularly. Make sure you boot DIRECTLY to recovery (to wipe cache and wipe again for good measure) then to eRecovery, without booting into the system. It writes files on boot-up, and these files are a potential cause of failure.
We have confirmed similar success and similar failures on the 128G model and the 64G model, so it would be reasonable to think this method will work on all MHA-AL00C00 models.
Edit:
We have now confirmed success on ALL Mate 9 Chinese variants (32GB, 64GB, 128GB).
Edit:
A note to everyone: my server will not be around forever. Somewhere around December 1, I will be taking down the server (it's needed for other purposes). If you want to downgrade, please do it within the next few days. If anyone wants to keep it going on their own server, give me SSH access to a linux server with a static IP where you can let me have port 5 and port 80, and I'll move it somewhere else. I see this as a successful test/proof of concept for flashing the Mate 9. There are still many more mysteries with the Mate 9 to unlock (how in the hell can we flash from SD card, for example!) and I will continue working on them when I have time. Get in touch with me via private message if you either want to donate a server, or want to pay for a new server.

Hi,duraaraa, I've translated this instruction into Chinese and posted on Chinese forum.
Here is the link: http://club.huawei.com/thread-11341553-1-1.html

Anyone use this method to downgrade a 4+64 device?
Someone posted that there's a problem.

I can only report success with a 128G/6G MHA-AL00 model. That's the only model I have. It's worth trying with any model, but I have your report and one other report of issues with the 64GB model. Since I don't have that model, I can't tell you exactly what to do. But I hope that you can continue trying and figure out a way.

Guys this procedure work! I've pleasure to work with @duraaraa this days on hangout and I can assure you that this guy sleep only 1/2 hours for night to achieve this result. My pleasure to have match a so great guy that work together without blind is knowledge

Some suggestions now.
Please read all steps and remove all your ID on phone. For example fingerprints. I suggest also to use normal recovery (from phone off push only volume up until usb cable in your pc) and make all wipe (factory reset+cache. Second and third button)
We are here for help us. I'm working on twrp as soon as Huawei give us unlock key for bootloader we'll have working twrp

thank you for your GREAT work!

I have two successful confirmed downgrades. One from 125, one from 115. Both are 6G 128G devices. I have also two unsuccessful people with 4G 64G devices. I'm working with them to try again, and hopefully we will have more results soon.

Yes. I downgraded from 125 myself. It's possible to downgrade from any version. The problem is, in some cases, after downgrading there is a boot loop. I believe the reason is that the old data (fingerprints, hicloud account) were not correctly wiped, and it's a security measure. But I can't be sure because I don't have anything but the 128G/6G version.

Please don't use any OTA updates. When you use the eRecovery, it will show you the version number. Any OTA updates is just a side-effect of hijacking huawei server.

We have another confirmed success with 64GB. This time, the person did a wipe after installing B106 and before installing B109SP01. So if you have trouble, please try it.

[Q] Enter your password?

so one day i turn on my tablet running lightspeed 1.0.7 and it asks me for a password. I thought it was my little brother playing a joke on me so i just factory reset it using CWM...... it boots up and asks me for a password AGAIN, after the factory reset. So i wiped all data, formatted evereything possible, and reflashed the ROM. AND IT STILL ASKS FOR A PASSWORD!!!! what gives? how do i fix this?
EDIT: I have used cwm to restore a backup of the stock ROM and it still asks for a password..... what the heck is this? PLEASE help
where is asking you for the password at..
Did you encrypt your tablet.
i think at the password screen keep trying and it will eventually ask for your google account information.. then let you in... .
if not my only thoughts is you will have to flash a total Stock decryped acer rom. one that updates the bootloader . as a few of the major updates have done..
but im guessing from my memory of people asking this in the past...
you will not get alot of help bypassing a password on here .. as to be honest who really knows if its your tablet or not...
that is why the google account verification is there..
no i didnt encrypt it.... its asking for the password when it boots up. I have seen a few threads on other forums with people that have xooms and transformers having the same issue.
Ok, so in that case, what do i need to do to be able to send this tablet to Acer? i am (was) rooted and i have thor's recovery installed. Is there a way to undo the stuff that voids the warranty?
and where can i find one of those full stock acer roms that update the bootloader? i guess one of those is worth a shot
ok so I tried to go back to stock using the unbrick method 2 here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1276227
and no luck. still asks for a password
and I also called Acer and they told me I will most likely be without my tablet for 2-3 WEEKS! and also Acer does not provide a box or pay for shipping for warranty repairs? really? I would really like a solution, if anyone can help me, please do. thank you

Thanks Timmy, I'll try this as soon as i get home to my sister's computer. hopefully it works!
ok so i am about to try this, but step one is to turn on USB debugging, what if i cant get to the setting menu to turn debugging on?
EDIT: so it seems that I will not be able to use this method because the software upgrade utility isnt able to recognize the tablet, because usb debugging is not enabled, and i can not enable it because the tablet is asking me for a password. i am stuck
any other solutions?
EDIT2: It is actually the computer that is not able to recognize the tablet. the drivers install, but when i connect the tablet via USB, it says the device drivers could not be installed
Not sure if this is what I experienced. My daughter's new A500 did an OTA update which apparently did not complete correctly. Tried to reboot after but would not. Did some browsing on this site and others and tried some things but no luck. Finally got various versions of update.zip and put them on an SD and did the power and volume - combo. I think after the first one I got the little android guy and the enter your password screen. Searched on a resolution to that but nothing. After a couple of more update.zip tries I got a version of 3.01 and ran that. Still got the android guy with the enter your password screen. Wanted to avoid returning it to K-mart where I got it new on Thanksgiving for $219. I knew they didn't have a replacement in stock and wouldn't be able to get another one for that price. Then I did the power and volume + combo with rocking the screen orientation toggle 2 times to reset the cache/data. Success - no password screen! It rebooted and went into the tablet setup process. I am not sure if it was that particular update.zip. I am thinking if I had did the clear the cache thingy after loading the initial update.zip it would have been ok. So my daughter's tablet has 3.01 on it now and seems to working fine. I am tempted to try a later release just to get to 3.1 but I don't want to risk horking it up. I haven't seen any notices for an OTA from Acer so that surprises me.
This is the password screen I'm talking about. Is that what happened to you?

Yea I tried that password. And all others I could have set...... but I know that I did not set any passwords on my tablet so I think its a glitch. I have been doing research and I have seen many people with this problem. Maybe its a honeycomb thing?

This will fix your issue (hopefully):
FACTORY RESET WITHOUT LOGON
ACER A500
1. Power Down
2. Make sure the Screen orientation is off (slide to left while landscape mode)
3. Hold down the right volume key (Volume up (+)).
4. Hold down the Power Button.
5. When it buzzes let go of the power but keep hold of the volume up button (+)
rock the screen orientation switch quickly back and forth once.
6. Should say :
Erasing Userdata....
Erasing Cache...
http://www.hard-reset.com/ for additional information
If this does NOT work then you will have to flash it using your USB Serial number and a paperclip. You use the paperclip and power button to put the tablet into fastboot, then you can flash it. Guarantee you it works, you just need your serial number.
TimmyDean, thank you for your response. I left town for about four days so when i get back home i will try those things.
Also, you mentioned using a paperclip and flashing it from fastboot using my serial number.... is that the same method you linked me to before? if not, is there a thread with instructions on how to do that? thanks for your help, man.
"This is the password screen I'm talking about. Is that what happened to you?"
Bwassef, yes that is the screen I was getting until I did the procedure that timmyDean described in post #12.
Good Luck.
@timmyDean - With all due respect to you I think you should give the correct recognition and acknowledgement for the "Tip" you quote to the originator i.e. the Developer "Sc2k" (of "ItsMagic" fame), who first published this tip in the thread "Acer Iconia A500 > Iconia A500 General > "[TIP] Wipe without using recovery". He published this on 20th June 2011 which is some six and a half months ago.

With all due respect never read it, I got it from ACER when I called them last year when an employee forgot their password. They faxed it to me, I scan it in if you'd like to see the original fax.
Secondly, I apologize if it was posted earlier I never searched for it here and assumed that since someone was asking that they were asking because it wasn't posted.
So, I give credit to ACER tech support and any others that may have posted here before me and shall post here forever after and/or any other site that may have already posted it or will be posting it including all social media networks such as Twitter and Facebook but not limited to such. All oral and written communications, anyone that used smoke signals, sign-language, or any form of communications present and/or past; thank you all and everyone.
Thanks to all,

[Flashtool] How to flash the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact with stock ROM [Flashtool]

Over the past couple of days, I have been experiencing various issues with flashtool. Using the internets help and many hours of my time I managed to fix most of these problems that occurred for me. Although there are hundreds of Flashtool step by step instructions, I thought it would be best for an updated and more in depth on what you should be aware of first before clicking "Flash".
Firstly, I do not take responsibility for any device broken or damaged since there is ALWAYS a minute chance of your device bricking.
Lets start, shall we?
Things Needed
Z5 Compact
Original Cable (or any cable actually that is working and can transfer files)
Flashtool 0.9.22.3
Sony Xperia Z5 Compact Stock Rom
Okay to start off.. Yes, this should work with other phones however I am not providing the stock roms for those, it takes a simple google search to find them ie. "Sony Xperia Z5 Stock Rom ftf"
You don't need the latest stock rom either since you can update once the phone is setup depending on if you have access to OTA updates (Over the Air).
Step 1.
Download flashtool if you haven't already. If you have an older version of flashtool, uninstall it and make sure all old files are gone for good and also be sure the new one is fully installed. I prefer to use the magnet link on the website (for torrents) since using uploaded.net takes forever.
Step 2a.
If you're on Windows 8/8.1/10 then please take note to this specific paragraph, any other OS skip to 2b Windows 8/8.1 like to have its security tight, so they block you from installing drivers with unsigned certificates to "keep your computer from harm" but just go ahead and follow the instructions to allow your computer install these drivers. If the drivers aren't installed correctly, then you won't be flashing anything today Okay, go to Settings>General and then click on 'Restart Now' under 'Advanced Startup'.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
This will restart your PC. It will then take you to a screen that gives you various options. On Windows 8 you will see 'Troubleshoot' and on Windows 8.1 you will see 'Start-up Settings'. Select either that appears. This will take you to another page that will ask to restart windows in order to use some advanced startup features, just click 'Restart'. If it already takes you to the page without restart, or if your computer just restarted and you're getting the options of what to select, make sure you select 'Disable driver signature enforcement'.
Your computer should now restart with driver signature enforcement disabled. Now, go ahead and carry on with the instructions in 2b!
Step 2b.
Navigate to the 'drivers' folder where you installed Flashtool. If you cant remember where you installed it, the default directory should be in "C:\Flashtool". Open 'Flashtool-drivers.exe' and install:
Flashmode Drivers
Fastboot Drivers
Z5 Compact Device Driver (Or whatever your device is)
Now we have successfully installed the drivers for flashtool and our device!
Step 3.
Find the stock rom you downloaded, copy and paste it into your firmwares folder in flashtool. For me, this is in "C:\Users\Matty\.flashTool\firmwares". People have been saying to delete the folders inside the firmwares folder, do not do this as the flash might not work.
Step 4.
Note
If you're running 64bit, I recommend you to not use Flashtool64.exe at first, just use the standard 'Flashtool.exe'. If you dont get an icon on your desktop from the setup, just navigate to the folder in the directory you installed it in, then right click and click send to desktop so you can access it easy
Step 5.
Open Flashtool from your newly created shortcut on your desktop. Click the Flash icon, then click Flashmode, then hit Ok. Click your Firmware on the left to start off with. You might have to hit the firmware dropdown until it gets to the actual firmware like so:
If you want to remove all your data, where it says Wipe, hit all the boxes. (APPS_LOG, DIAG, SSD, USERDATA). Then click Flash. You will now see "Preparing files for flashing" on your screen. Be very patient, and in the meantime, turn your phone off ready to enter Flashmode. Make sure your phone is switched off and NOT plugged.
When you see this box come up on your computer, It's probably time to connect the USB to your computer, and enter flashmode on your phone.
Plug the USB into your computer
(TRY USB 2.0 FIRST, SOME REASON NO USB 3.0 PORT WORKED FOR ME+MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAD PROBLEMS WITH USB 3.0 I.E loader.sin errors)
Entering Flash Mode
Hold the Volume Down button and plug the USB cable from your computer into your phone. You should hear the Windows noise it makes to say the device is connected to the PC. If any extra drivers are needed to complete the flash it could take longer for the flash to start. You should then see a constant green light in the top right of your device, gently put it somewhere without unplugging the charger and let Flashtool do the hard work
Step 6.
Leave the device for no longer than 30 minutes. However, if you're unsure be safe and leave it for a full hour, go out have a nice brew, do a tap and dance and come back and it should be done. The only reason it would get stuck is because you unplugged the phone during the Flash, or if the cable somewhat died throughout the operation. If so, repeat the instructions in hope your device will be as good as new
Flashtool will now let you know when it is done. It will say "Flashing finished, please uplug and start your phone."
If it says that, hooray! You have successfully flashed your phone with stock rom!
If not and you get an error before it even wants to flash, or throughout the process you get an error, post it below and I'll take a look. I'm not very good but I know quite a few errors.
END OF TUTORIAL
I just thought I'd help the community out in a way that I can, since I'm bad at like everything else lol.
Peace folks :highfive: :cyclops:
Great write-up! I know it probably would have helped me months ago for something like this to exist. For anyone coming here for info, it also took me three PC's before I found one that played well with flash tool. Also if you ever get a failure, reboot PC, phone, and try again. Persistence pays off.

The firmware folder is not detected by Flashtool although I have put it in the correct folder...
I have tried hundred of times, i just dont understand
you dont need unlock bootloader for stock kernel\rom right?
If you want to upgrade you better use Xperia companion.
If you want to downgrade and use FlashTool and if you have a problem you better have unlocked bootloader.

hi, can i do this on Z5C Docomo (SO-02H)?
also can i flash global rom on that...?
Hey guys.
I have a Z5 Compact (E5823) that's stuck on android version 5.1.1. It never shows any available updates in the Software Update screen. I'd like to get it on 6.0 in the least just for the better permissions system it contains.
In searching for a way to update it, naturally I found this page and all the helpful info it contains. I've never been steered wrong by XDA in the past. I've always found information on this site helpful, and it works.
I've downloaded Flashtool.
I've followed all of the instruction for installation, including the annoying driver installation process for Windows 8.1.
I've downloaded multiple firmwares from Xperifirm.
I can get everything happening, and it looks to work when looking at the Flashtool screen. It says it's complete (just like the little image at the bottom of the initial post).
Nothing seems to have happened to the phone. I boot it back up and it's still running the same old 5.1.1. Flashtool runs through it's process very fast, as in a few seconds, not the half an hour suggested.
The phone came from Hong Kong as far as I can tell. It may have been a refubished phone, I can't be sure. I'm trying to get the Customised AU version 6.0 software on it.
What am I doing wrong? I don't know what else to try, and it's annoying me. PLEASE HELP.
Thanks. Paul.

You better ask your question in the Z5 section, you're more likely to have answers and it's the same process (sorry I don't remember guq I did at the time I had the phone).

Any idea where I can find a good copy of version 9.18.5?
Hey,
I'm experiencing an issue with Flashtool.
Last weekend I successfully rooted my Z5C with the "How to root Z5C - the new, less painful way"-guide.
Finally the Z5C was flashed with Nougat (Customized DE) and rooted with Magisk (rooted with SuperSU first, but then switched to Magisk), even with working TA partition.
After reading that the Australian Stock ROM doesn't have battery drain issues, I tried flashing that one. Unluckily I'm always getting the following error:
17/059/2019 18:59:25 - ERROR - Processing of system.sin finished with errors.
17/059/2019 18:59:25 - INFO - Ending flash session
17/059/2019 18:59:25 - ERROR - ERR_SEVERITY="MINOR";ERR_CODE="0017";ERR_DYNAMIC="80090012";
Now I can't boot my phone and TWRP seems to be gone too, so I can't restore the backup I did beforehand.
Any idea how to fix this error?
EDIT:
If anyone wonders: I managed to make it work by downloading the firmware again and using a different USB-cable on a different USB-port. Can't say which of those things exactly helped.

[Thread Deprecated] Unbrick your device/Revert to Stock-A complete guide

[Update as of May 23, 2020] - Thread no longer active and all download links are invalid
A brief history - A few weeks ago, i got fed up of EMUI and all the bloat. EMUI has a bunch of very useful features but i did miss the AOSP look and feel, root advantages. So, i tried magisk and couldn't get it to work with EMUI(pre 15.4 version). So i switched to Open krin 8.1 AOSP. Used it for a few days but it was too much of a sacrifice (VOLTE and Camera) and occasional buggyness for me to live with.
During this adventure, i found myself (multiple times) with a bricked device (A critical brick with FRP on aswell!).
After a lot of struggle(Specially to find working download links), i'm making this thread, to help fellow users like me.
Before we get started,
This is tested on my device but may not necessarily work with yours! I'm not responsible for any loss/damage/whatever caused because of the information in this thread.
Note 0 : Do not Quote the entire post!!
Note 1 : This guide will be updated as and when necessary.
Note 2 : These methods are only tested on Honor 8 Pro - Indian Variant(DUK-L09-C675)
Note 3 : This guide assumes the bootloader is unlocked.
Note 4 : Do text if you need any clarification on any step!

Let's get started.
Reboot your device into bootloader mode.
How? Method 11. Shut down the phone.
2. Hold the volume down button and connect the usb cable connected to your PC.Method 2 (If device is boot looping)1. Press and hold power button untill phone reboots.
2. Hold volume up key to boot to e-recovery.
3. Click shutdown.
4. Now follow Method 1.
Now that you are in bootloader mode,
You may find yourself in one of these three conditions
Condition 1. You read Phone unlock , FRP unlock ( Hurray !! This is the easiest to recover from.)
Condition 2. You read Phone unlock , FRP Lock AND you have TWRP flashed and working. ( Phew , there is still hope!)
Condition 3. You read Phone unlock , FRP Lock AND you have STOCK recovery! (Not sure how you got here, but this method is not tested by me.) (Please text if someone is stuck in this situation. I Will think of something if needed)(Guide is not yet updated with instructions on how to do this yet!)
Steps to recover from condition 1
1. Download stock rom files and stock rom flasher(from here) ( I have updated files for indian version.
Please get the version appropriate to your location.)
2. Extract files into a folder and transfer them to an exteral SD or USB OTG(If you can get it to work. I
Couldn't get my OTG to be detected) and insert it into your phone.
3. Reboot to recovery.
How? 1. Shutdown the deive(Look above for instructions, if needed.)
2. Hold volume up and then simultaniously press the power key. 4. In TWRP, erase everything except micro-sd/otg.
5. Reboot the device into recovery.
6. Flash the zip with the file name "FlashThisZip-DUK_FullOTA_ROM_flasher".
7. Done ! You should now be on Stock Indian oreo rom 8.0.0.323
8. (Optional) Relock bootloader (Check other guids please.)
Steps to recover from condition 2
1. Download and extract the twrp recovery files i made. ( You may use any stock emui (all partition)
backups you have made!
2. Transer the TWRP folder to External SD / OTG and insert it into the phone.
3. Reboot to recovery.
How? 1. Shutdown the deive(Look above for instructions, if needed.)
2. Hold volume up and then simultaniously press the power key. 4. In TWRP, erase everything except micro-sd/otg.
5. Restore the backup.
6. Done !!! To flash full stock fresh rom, read on.
7. (Optional) Boot up the phone, head into settings, enable developer options and enable OEM unlock.
8. (Optional) Now, simply follow steps from Condition 1(which is above!)
Guide is still under construction. I got this out as soon as i can to help anyone who is stuck. Please ignore any typos(They will be fixed when i find time to make this guide better).
All the best :good: :fingers-crossed:

Hi, Thanks for the guide.
However, I'm in deep shi*. I'm currently stuck in bootloop, I'm even unable to get to e-recovery. I'm able to get to fastboot though. Even though, I read PHONE Locked and FRP Unlock. What options do I have? I got my bootloader unlock code from EMUI but when I try to unlock bootloader, it says that the password is incorrect..

Hey,
While i was messing around with my H8P bootloader, i noticed an additional 's' in my password ! Probably while saving it would have got added.
I recommend cross checking if you're actually using the right password. (To the extent that you go through the request process again! Recommend doing this and taking screenshots as after a few days, you will no longer be able to request codes anymore!).
Also, post the error you get while trying to unlock the bootloader.

Hi,
Eventually I had to pay 15€ for DC Phoenix to be able to flash my Honor. Absolutely nothing helped and none of C434 firmwares worked on C900B131 rollback package, therefore I had to flash C636B130. I received an update to B360 which worked just fine. Then B380 update came which is a nightmare that bricks our phones and the reason I bricked my Honor 8 the first time (back in October of 2017). I had to reflash it through DC Phoenix once again. Later on I tried to move from B360 to B389 which bricked my phone AGAIN. So I am staying on B360 which, I think, works just fine. It is sad that I am unable to get the latest firmware updates but it is what it is. Although I really hate the notification on my Settings icon which informs to update the phone. I disabled all the Updater notifications and so on but it is still there.
I like Honor 8 and I've been always recomending it to everyone but as of now I doubt I'll ever buy Huawei phone again.

DC Phoenix always to the rescue. Unfortunately , this is the sad state of Huawei/Honor . Your device should be fixed free , because of Honors fault. Now that they're also not giving out unlock codes after a month , it's a direct screw you to all the advanced users. There's no predicting how this gamble will play out for them. I'm also not going to recommend Huawei /Honor to any advanced users . One plus has my money. However , Huaweis midrangers and just about OK for regular use.

First thing, go to developer options and enable oem unlocking.. DO NOT FLASH/ DO ANYTHING BEFORE THIS STEP. Then you'll be on condition 1 so you can follow those steps.

Bootloader and frp unlock are different and are independent of each other.Turn on your internet/connect to one and then try oem unlocking. Also, share the screenshot of the oem unlock screen.

Sprint has released Pie for S8 and S8+, flashing worked perfectly on my AT&T S8+

Hey guys I just got done flashing the G955USQU5DSC1 Android Pie Firmware that Sprint released for the S8/S8+ (and Note 8). The steps are below if you want to do it It's your risk and since we just had the first US carrier push the Pie update the others should be close behind but if you want it now this works perfectly. At least it did for me and for a few others I saw on reddit. I was able to do so without wiping my phone either, no data loss at all. Everything is working perfect, AT&T bootscreen, Wi-Fi calling, VOLTE etc.
Step 1: First off download and install the Samsung USB Drivers for Mobile Phones https://developer.samsung.com/galaxy/others/android-usb-driver-for-windows if you don't have them installed already (reboot after installing them) Use "SamFirm" to download the Sprint Firmware (no throttled download speed like most sites etc) I used v0.3.6 https://bit.ly/2Gso6QQ
Step 2: Launch "SamFirm" (I set the Auto/Manual check box to Auto) and input your model number (Settings>About Phone) or SM-G950U for S8 and SM-G955U for S8+
Step 3: In the "Region" field of "SamFirm" application put in "SPR" for Sprint, and click "Check Update". When you're ready to download it should look like this (G-950U for S8 instead of S8+) When you click download it will ask where to save the Firmware, I just saved to my Downloads folder.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Step 4: Once the Firmware download and decryption process is complete you can close "SamFirm". Go to where you told the app to download the firmware, right click it and click extract. Now it's time to use ODIN. At this point if you just want to be extra safe I would use Samsung SmartSwitch app on your phone to create a backup of your phone either to your MicroSD card (easiest) or to your PC. This will backup App /w app data, home screen layout, settings, documents, music (not needed if on your SD card) etc. But I didn't loose any data or have a reset when I did this.
Step 5: Download and open ODIN, I used ODIN 3 v3.13.1. Do the usual of clicking BL/AP/CP etc. then point ODIN to that file of the Firmware that is inside the folder you extracted (ODIN will take a second to scan each file as you add it, just wait for it to finish). For CSC make sure you select CSC do NOT select HOME CSC. If you select HOME CSC it will wipe your data/reset your phone. Also do not select the USERDATA file. Leave USERDATA blank in ODIN (at least for AT&T and Verizon users who this guide is for).
Step 6: Boot your device into download mode. Power off your S8/S8+, then press power and hold power, volume down, and bixby button at the same time. You should very quickly get a blue screen, release the buttons. The screen will say press volume up to continue, do so. Now plug your S8/S8+ into your PC. ODIN should show a blue square under ID:COM like in the previous photo. If ODIN looks the same as my screen shot while you're in Download mode you're ready to go. Now just hit start and wait for the process to complete fully. When it dose finish your phone will reboot and ODIN will show a green square with the word "PASS".
It may take a bit longer than normal for your phone to boot this first time. Also the first time my S8+ rebooted I wound up in the recovery menu, but simply hit the power button since the first selected item is "reboot phone" and the power button is the select button. If you get some white text at the bottom saying its doing something just wait for it to finish and when you get the reboot option hit the power button. That's it. After that my S8+ booted up just fine (this boot may be a bit longer as well but only this time) and I was at the lock screen. All my apps still installed, settings the same etc etc. Just like getting the update OTA.
Ive got an unlocked ATT S8+ and appear to be running into an issue when I fill in the info and select auto.

You have to choose SPR for CSC code because ATT does not have a pie rom for SM-955u
I flashed it yesterday without any issues over the drl7 beta. Process took 15-20 mins but work like a champ after booting up!
Please read this instructions
Just finished flashing on galaxy s8 SM-G950u unlocked Verizon.it worked like a magic for me .BUT faced some issues like :
* after downloading firmware using samfrim error was crc not match please redownload file.
-Solution: download firmware without crc check option.
*after download and decryption. Trying to extract the downloaded file error msg ( file is corrupted)

Theres no benefit, it's the 9.0 pie rom update. If u tried the beta versions, it's the same except some
bug fixes. The branded ROMs are all the same, they Just add their own bloatware and other BS but other than that snapdragon rom is the same but are different than exynos rom versions.
Perfect guide.
Thank you very much! I use your guide and was able to flash without wiping any of my data!
omg THANK YOU!
So im doing something wrong, or the files just wont work for my version.
I've placed my device into Downloading Mode with two methods, using adb and the volume down, Bixby, and power button. But for some reason it appears to fail while connecting. Thoughts?
Here it is from these guys using google drive.

Huawei P9 lite not starting

Hi, this is my first post here so Hello everyone!
I tried to root P9 lite using below steps:
1. Get unlock code from DC-unlocker.
2. "fastboot oem unlock XXXXXXX..."
3. Phone was reset to factory default sow raw Android 7 was installed.
4. "fastboot boot twrp-3.1.1-0-eva.img" was not working (unknown or forbidden command, don't remember exact message)
5. fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.1.1-0-eva.img
6. After restart with recovery mode still Marshmallow recovery was running so I assumed flash failed.
7. I tried several time put other versions (twrp-3.0.2-0-eva and twrp-3.1.0-0-eva) but if I remember well last one was again installing twrp-3.1.1-0-eva again.
8. As that didn't helped I decided to give up and restore phone to previous state so locked bootloader using SRKToolHuawei-STABLE-V1.3-20160619
9. System restarted and restored to factory default and after running I saw message informing that password is needed to unlock mass storage (or mass memory). There was no onscreen keyboard so no possibility to type anything.
10. Restarted in recovery mode (volume up + power) and tried to recover system from Marshmallow recovery option (using WiFi) but it didn't helped.
11. During next restart I accidentally hold both volume up, down with power so phone tried probably to install system from SSD, but as there was no UPDATE.APP it just stopped at 5%. I left it as it is and after some time (around 5min) phone restarted.
12. Now after restart I see only info that "Your device is booting now...". All key combinations are causing phone restart and same message.
Please advise if there is anything what I can do now.
Will appreciate any help.
After discharging the battery phone started responding properly.
With connected USB cable, volume down and power buttons fastboot&rescue mode is working.
Phone unlocked
FRP unlocked
There is still EMUI recovery in place.
So looks like recovery partition was not replaced and bootloader was not locked again.
I can't tell what is in bootloader now.
System is cleared and can't reinstall it using Marshmallow recovery as it is probably end of maintenance.
My goal is to recover system now and I don't want to root it anymore.
How should I proceed?

Hello,
it seemed that android 7 was your latest working OS.
Can you confirm it ?
If yes what was you complete firmware ?
(example: VNS-L31C432B418/VNS-L21C185B392, etc...)
note: 'EVA' stuff is for P9 variant, not P9 lite..
that's why you f***ed your phone...
Thank you Dadditz for your reply.

It was 7 installed there for sure. And this is VNZ-L21.
Probably latest possible firmware version but can't be sure about this.
Can it be somehow checked now (guess not but not losing hope )?

I took TWRP from here: twrp.me/huawei/huaweip9.html
When I look at devices list there is not P9 lite here: twrp.me/Devices/Huawei/
Which one should I use then?
P.S. sorry for no links or pictures but as new here I can't add them for now.
EDIT: I found TWRP in SRKToolHuawei-STABLE-V1.3-20160619\recovery\p9\p9.zip\twrpp9mm.img.
Guess I should load this one.

I don't think firmware can be checked now...
Firmware may depend on where you live...
If you live in Europe it can be a branded one
(ex. vodafone: VNS-L21C02B345/6) or unbranded one(VNS-L21C432B505/6).
You cannot flash one of them if you have the other one.
You have to flash an OEMinfo file...
Anyhow you may try a factory reset first and let's hope it will restore the device.
Boot your phone with vol+and power till the e-recovery appear,
do the reset and report back how it went.
P.S.: P9 lite doesn't have an OFFICIAL TWRP.
Available unofficial versions can be founded searching into P9 lite XDA threads.
P.S.2 : A LITTLE SARCASM...
When you tinker with the phone you're not cooking
a plate of spaghetti with tomato sauce.
As you can see bricks are beyond the corner... and not always they can be solved...
Generally it is always better to ask before do, specially
if you don't know what you're doing ... but ... yes,
phone is yours and you can do anything you want...

I don't have such option in Huawei eRecovery, only 3 below:
Download latest version and recovery
Reboot
Shutdown
When I used first option and connected trough WiFi I got error "Getting package info failed".
I tried that several times previous days but today this phone again surprised me.
After over 24 hours with discharged battery it became even more responsive (or maybe I just treated it different today).
Today I tried Huawei eRecovery again, it tried to download latest version trough WiFi and "Getting package info failed".
After restart I saw recovery wizard.
Went trough it and I got 7.0 working.
There was no screen keyboard but after recovering backup from HiSuite keyboard is was installed.
I'm also missing some other default android applications like file explorer, mirror, voice recorder, calc.
I'm wondering if it wasn't corrupted during my activities (eg "fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.1.1-0-eva.img").

I fully agree with you.
I was searching for many instruction how to do it properly and my mistake was that I stopped fallowing them at point where I tried to installed manually TWRP.
My general conclusion is that even if system was recovered I'm not sure if everything will be ok.
I was totally surprised how my phone reacted during last days so still everything may happen.
I see also some corruption in restored system as some apps are missing.
Any advise how this could be cleaned?
Maybe I should install this system again from some trusted package like from below topic?

No, this recovery isn't for nougat (android 7) version.
If you want, you can flash the one you find into HassanMirza01 TWRP thread.
Do not use 3.2.1, instead choose the 3.1.1-1 version, it's the most stable one.

Dude,
system can be fully recovered, especially now you're sure about
your latest firmware...
There was a thread with a list of stock apps, but it's been closed
because links are dead...
First thing, eliminate all safeties (fingerprints/pattern/pin)(you can add at the end of process)
You should try to reinstall your current firmware using Firmware Finder app,
download it from the big G store. Use dns/vpn method
and choose VNS-L21C22B383 FULLOTA-MF.
Also all info are inside the app. Using this method
the bootloader will be relocked.
If you wont succeed then i can tell you how to use twrp recovery
providing your stock full firmware.
Cheers

I fallowed instructions and choose first VNS-L21C22B383 FULLOTA-MF from the top (each version appear 2 times on this list).
Tried downloading trough DNS but got below message.
"Due to changes in the data exchange protocol between the Huawei server and the device, this function stopped its correct operation, but still works on older software that allows you to upgrade to one of the latest software if it has not already been done."
I tried with all FullOTA-MF versions on the list and same situation for all.
Because no other option I choose Download from last section (Other) and now I have 3 files on my phone:
update.zip
public/update_data_full_public.zip
VNS-L21_polkomtel_pl/update_full_VNS-L21_polkomtel_pl.zip
Should I install them manually?
If yes then how?

I'm pretty sure you done everything correct,
but before attempt using the TWRP it's better if you
try again using Firmware Finder this way...

3 - tap on your firmware;
4 - select the one with fullota-mf;

7 - you should have an 'availability of firmware' popup, tap ok;
8 - go back and tap 'get update through dns';
9 - a popup 'alert' you already faced will apper, tap ok;
10 - a new popup 'select dns method' will appear, tap 'auto',
then tap run vpn service and 'accept' the new connection request popup;
11 - you should now have the running vpn service in the notification panel...;
12 - minimize Firmware Finder;
13 - open settings > tap system updater,
you should find the VNS-L21C22B383 update (check multiple times);
14 - tap on it do download and apply the update;
15 - when the download reach 5%, stop the vpn service and continue doing the process...

Yep, it's clear the firmware is completely f***ed...
Tomorrow i will tell you how to use TWRP
and completely restore the device.
@JimiLincoln
You can restore the exact same rom you had on your smartphone ...
(I'm not sure, it seems it's a sort of firmware branded by vodafone)
but if I can afford, if it were you
i would install the European non-brand version (C432),
without bloatware and should also have the most updated security patch.
Is the phone single or dual sim?
Also, let me know if you want to have all stocks or
have the bootloader unlocked for future manipulations ...

You must use a twrp to rebrand your phone.
Download and flash the one i suggested you (3.1.1-1 by HassanMirza01)
When you done, come back for the files and the guide...
TWRP 3.1.1-1 For P9 Lite by HassanMirza01 installed.
I can enter it only by holding Power + Vol Up without USB connected.
When I hold Power + Vol Up with USB connected Huawei eRecovery is launched.

Ok, i will post a list of file you have to download:
1 - HuRUpdater04.zip file (will do the job);
2 - L21C432OEMinfo.zip file (dual sim);
THE FIRMWARE:
3 - update.zip ;
4 - update_data_full_public.zip ;
5 - update_full_VNS-L21_hw_eu.zip ;
Let file 3 the same name, rename file 4 from
update_data_full_public TO update_data_public,
rename file 5 from update_full_VNS-L21_hw_eu TO update_all_hw.
Names must mandatory match the ones I wrote to you, otherwise it won't work.
This is the procedure:
Use your PC, make a folder and rename it L21C432B506.
Copy files 3-4-5 (renamed) and HuRUpdater04.zip file into that folder.
(if you want you can keep the TWRP copying the .img file into that folder too).
Copy the folder into the SD.
Copy the OEMinfo file wherever you want into the SD.
Put the SD into the device...
Reboot into recovery and format DATA
(wipe>advanced wipe>tick data and tap format in the bottom right> type 'yes').
Reboot again recovery and wipe everything except SD
(wipe>advanced wipe>tick everything except sd).
Go in main menu, tap install, find and select OEMinfo file, let it flash...
When finished go in main menu and select REBOOT then Bootloader.
Once booted, connect the phone to your PC and
unlock again the bootloader. (quickly disconnect it from PC)
Device should automatically reboot into the recovery otherwise you can do
holding vol + and power button.
Now tap install, find your L21C432B506 folder,
select (only) HuRUpdater04.zip file and let it flash...
Your device should reboot into the system correctly,
if not (if passes over 15 mins) reboot into the e-recovery and
do a factory reset + wipe cache.
Done !!
Hello Dadditz,

Only bothering thing is message that device was unlocked and can't be trusted.
I will keep this for now as it may be useful at some point.
Many thanks Dadditz for your great help!!!
I will probably come back to this topic when my wife will have new phone, so I will play more with this P9 lite, customize system and learn more.

Amazing polite guy,
i was very pleased to be able to help you, obviously, for what I know ...
It's not a big deal to have that 'annoying' message at boot.
Re-lock the bootloader is the only way to remove it.
You have more than one method:
Flash a previous version of your current firmware
and use Firmware Finder to update to the latest;
or wait untill a new version of your current firmware comes out
and use Firmware Finder to update to;
or use fastboot commands but it's seriously risky;
Keep it as is..

i have a similar problem BUT i can't restart my p9 lite in recovery mode. I tried vol+ & power; vol - & power; vol +, vol - & pwer; only power. The result is always the same: "your device as been unlocked and can't be trusted....... Your device is booting now....". I try also to wait to descharge battery. After descharging, when i connect usb cable to recharge, the smartphone wake on with the same message..... Someone can help me?

Amazing polite guy,
i was very pleased to be able to help you, obviously, for what I know ...
It's not a big deal to have that 'annoying' message at boot.
Re-lock the bootloader is the only way to remove it.
You have more than one method:
Flash a previous version of your current firmware
and use Firmware Finder to update to the latest;
or wait untill a new version of your current firmware comes out
and use Firmware Finder to update to;
or use fastboot commands but it's seriously risky;
Keep it as is..

Hello Dadditz,
thank you for your warm words.
I can only comment that still being polite is much easier than spending your private time on helping stranger
Also thanks for warning about locking bootloader by fastboot.
