Device trees and Kernal sources released - OnePlus 3T Guides, News, & Discussion

https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/...and-kernel-sources-for-the-oneplus-3t.473810/
Hopefully this being out so quickly allows devs to port/make ROMs fairly quickly. I read great things about FreedomOS and wanted to try it out, but I'll likely be stock rooted for a while just so I don't have to wipe/reinstall.

Yeah once I get my new PC I'm going to learn how to build ROMs and kernels. Got a Xperia and Moto g to mess with so some practice and headaches I hope to one day be good enough to get some out for this.

Did anyone already extract the prop. files using the extract script?

Does this mean that the camera can be ported to custom ROMs?

This is what I'm most interested in seeing happen before I place my order.

Yes this indeed will boost some custom development support at XDA. However I have a question. Is it possible to port over the battery capacity read code to the one plus 3
this video
shows that the batteries are swappable hardware wise but we need software to actually read the proper capacity
Any dev can help with this?. It would be really helpful to OP3 owners.

I know that. Like I said that video shows if someone just swaps the battery there wouldn't be a problem for the OP3 as it shows up as a 3000mah battery.
From what else I see the power IC and motherboard are nearly identical. This is a DIY project. For people who want a Lil more oomph from their phone

Well battery consumption and capacity is set in an overlay (power_profile.xml) that is used when building android. So for custom roms, it is easy to change that value

Why we see Zero customs roms for op3t? Op3 had cm unnoficial same day that start the shell

Adoption of the 3T is going to be slower because some devs already have the OP3 and have stated they would not develop for the 3T. Some are waiting to receive their devices as well. Besides, you don't know what's being worked on behind the scenes. Be patient or you can build it for us.
Sent from my OnePlus3T using XDA Labs

Yeah lot's of people still waiting on their device plus a lot more will receive one over the Christmas period. Another note in my opinion is 7.0+ is a inch away so heavy development on current 6.0+ is sort of pointless, but great at the same time to let developer's get a "feel" for the device.

ROMs for LG G4

LG G4 has been out for the same amount of time the Galaxy s6, yet the S6 has endless amounts of custom ROMs and all kind of tweaks, while our ROM forum sections are virtually empty. May someone colaborate on what the problem is? Because thats the only thing keeping me from buying this phone. Thank you.

I think people prefer to unlock it with an unofficial method (without losing warranty?) like happened for root

Sure, not losing warranty is a big advantage over the official method; but on the other hand Knox and the sure loss of warranty didn't stop the S6 development (or any other Samsung's)...

take it the wrong way... The stock Rom is very good. All we need is root to have full control of it.
Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk
Problem is still, that only 2 variants can be unlocked or are unlocked per default: H815 EU Open Market version and the TMo G4 in the US (I don't know if EU and RoW TMo G4s are unlocked by default.), so you have only a very limited (1-2%) userbase with unlocked bootloaders around. And only a few of them are here.

Right, but IMHO, samsung community is much bigger than lg ones. But hey, the g4 is my first lg (coming from a s3) im pretty sure you know much more than me (about lg devs etc..)

...and it doesn't look very promising for all the other G4 variants! Autobot n friends haven't had any progress from what I've been reading.
I love the 5.5" inch size factor and have my eyes on the S6 Plus which will probably have a 1.6 gazillions dev's swarming to it! To bad the Nexus 2015 is only going to be 5.2" which is the same size as my 3 year old G2.

I only had Samsung and LG devices since I bought my first Android phone. From what I can read here and there HTC and Samsung have the best third party development support, and coming from a Note 4 I can confirm about Samsung.
Last year I followed the G3 development, Bump and CyanogenMod.
The G3 needed an alternative to the stock ROM, mostly because it had several LAG problems, and we had it after months.
I only had this phone three days now, but from what I can see we don't exactly NEED an alternative, as we have the latest main release of Android and runs great, little LAG and we need just a few little fixes... Having root let us customize as much as possible without losing, for example, manual camera mode.
All the new sammies don't have an sdcard slot which is a huge NO for me. As for the G4 devs, don't forget we are in August meaning 90% of the xda devs are on vacations, the G4 would have new breakthrough in root and roms in September.
It's too bad to see the G4 so good in many things but hurt by LG because of locked bootloader.
I hate HTC to not make a 5.5 or 5.7" flagship

Have faith there are several devs actively working on getting CM running, once that happens I suspect the flood gates will open. But the Samsung dev community is much bigger than that of LGs, been watching it for years and LG never seems to have the same volume as Samsung. Though most of the ROMs around for Samsung devices are just kit hen builds, only very few actual custom built ones.
Do not try to absolve me by some quirk of quantum mechanics.
I would love to try CM or AOSP on here. But without an unlocked bootloader, would it be possible to flash?

Samsung will never have cm based roms. Dev community is way smaller than it used to be during s3 days. I think g3 last year had more devs working.

If they can boot with the stock kernel/ramdisk (boot.img), we should be able to flash a modified version (that doesn't touch the boot.img on the device) via flashfire.

Well the Release Date of the Galaxy S6 was the 1st of March while the LG G4 was released on the 29th of April and really available was the LG G4 in June...
...having said that - No, the LG G4 is by no means out as long as the Galaxy S6 is.
And the bootloader seems to be harder to unlock than the S6 bootloader.
...and the G4 was released with Android 5.1 while the S6 was released with 5.0.2 where more exploits exist...
Well we have to wait a while and when a bootloader unlock will be widely available, we will see a rom development explosion.
But one without immediately loosing warranty by directly sending your IMEI to LG...
Greetings

No so they can only build for the unlocked version at present. If your looking for a custom ROM and hacking get the version that can be. Always one of the Rings I look for in a new device.

all the s6 really has is tweaked touchwiz roms no aosp cm or nothing
I also unlock bootloader just to have TWRP custom recovery...
I am having great time with my LG but I am a little disappointed for not having options to install a custom Rom as there are not...
But I think it is a matter of time for the devs to create some...
This device has many possibilities and many things that need to fix

Note 4 & Manual Camera features

I have recently got Note 4 910G. Though I was going to get LG G4, I chose Note 4 due to being familiar with Touchwiz and also using S health app. But the G4 camera is something I sorely miss on Note 4.
So since Lollipop allows manual camera controls, What do you think will we likely see Manual camera controls on Note 4 in future updates (Like in S5 etc). Or is there any custom rom that has these features already??
You will continue to get modified kitkat camera app. No manual mode no 720p slow MO nothing. And for me it's a wrong decision choosing note 4 over g4. Return it if you can and take LG g4 and install s health on it
BTW I only used LG g4 international and it was über. I don't know about carrier specific versions.

Yeah me too also the new camera app, new touchwiz, themes etc... [emoji2] but I think it's normal that they hold these features from a marginally old phone. It's what I would do if I would Samsung, to make customers bug new devices so I can profit. The bad thing is, my device is exynos so no 3rd party development over here.

Except its NOT a marginally old phone. It was thier FLAGSHIP until few months back!! Hey, there's some cool rom in Exynos too. I was a big fan of Wanam light rom on S4 and the sixperience rom looks cool too.
Well I don't like custom roms except cyanogenmod. Because there is always something broken in other stock customized roms so I tend to stay away from them. There is word going around cyanogenmod will support exynos, but we will see.
Good luck with your device mate.

The future of OPT

Is oneplus gonna release the source for the finger print scanner? Is that why that development is lacking for this phone? I'm really regretting my purchase. Kinda let down.. I'm late to the game but was just reading that some devs sold their devices! Uugh. Anyone interested in a new OPT?
post deleted
Oneplus will not release its Lollipop fingerprint scanner code. Instead Carl said they will switch to standard Google Fingerprint API on Marshmallow.
What is the point of this thread imho oneplus said they will use a standard API for the fingerprint sensor.
I think we just have to wait.
The oneplus 2 is a well build phone and oos is not the best os i agree but hey just buy a Samsung with touchwizz?

He is a well known kernel developer here in OPT and he developed his reputation over the development and support of over 5 devices.
Not sure what to expect but it sorta give us hope that maybe stock oxygen kernel in marshmallow and forward would be baked better

MIUI Interest

Just wondering how interested people are in getting a CM12 based MIUI rom for our X Play. I'm not saying I would be doing it as I don't have the skill however I think it would be amazing to have. Add to the variety we already have.
I would have bought a Redmi but it doesn't support LTE on O2 UK

+1 MIUI
Nah, I'd love to have MIUI on the MXP too, but I don't think someone wants to spend the time and energy building it. It might happen in the future, but I doubt it'll be before we have official support for CM (which might never happen)
I just dont like MIUI. I feel like its animations and skin dont go along with Material Design. Coming from Redmi Note 2
I dont think so.

Keep your Nougat expectations in check guys

Just because they have a cm14 branch does not mean they have found out the solution. They are just preparing. If you try and build with the cm 14 tree you will still face issues.

It is not google! it is qualcomm !! doesn't want to add support drivers to Vulkan API, to make people buy new devices, killing support to many devices ! no wonder why Samsung is trying to move to Exynos !! and i guess that is what my next phone is going to have. #Noqualcomm

Well, we could. I doubt it would do much, as this is very much a business move and CAF (CodeAuroraForum - AKA, the open source part of qualcomm) pretty much have their minds set on it. It sucks that this happens, but they'd rather make money :/

i just want to point out about LG G3 LTE-A or F460 which have the same chip as Nexus 6.. i have one but because lack of custom rom.. i choose to keep using my F400L which using SD801.. i'll understand if they drop support for normal G3 because SD801 is pretty old but for G3-A, why not gives it another update because the Nexus 6 which have SD805 is upgradable to Android 7, why not G3-A? it have SD805 too..
