Not pro but plus this is different model on Qualcomm 652 processor

Bump. I want to port TWRP, but I need root to extract necessary data from the device.

I think the twrp from the other thread works. I was talking to a user in there who went through the steps on the new tab, it is the 4GBram 64GBrom version? He got as far as flashing supersu.zip and he said that resulted in bootloop.

If flashing SuperSU results in a bootloop, then TWRP isn't compiled correctly for this device. TWRP may boot, but the partition table seems to be wrong.
Because there are currently no factory images available, I would strongly discourage anyone to flash anything without having a working backup of the system partition.
Also, the Yoga Tab 3 Plus has 3 GB of RAM. We are talking about different devices here.

Have you tried the twrp from that thread?

This exploit works to spawn a limited, temporary root shell in ADB!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-x-performance/how-to/dirtycow-temp-root-t3503918

Did you know? There is a complete song by Britney Spears (Cinderella) on each Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Plus. There is a lot of chinese test-software left on the system, and the song is used by a Run-In test, accessable via ADB shell:
Code:
$ am start -n com.tools.runin/.MainActivity
Just press the chinese button and the complete song will play - extremely loudly. Beware!
I will investigate further. Maybe there is something hidden in these chinese apps that helps us to root the device.

Anyone knows? I've tried with kingroot but doesn't work.

Found this link: http://rootoreviews.com/root-Lenovo-Yoga-Tab-3-Plus-install-twrp-custom-recovery
But I couldn't located TWRP for YOGA TAB 3 plus, so I am not sure if this is working. BTW, I'm in China currently, so the internet is limited as well....maybe I'll try it after I leave China.

anyone has tried this ?
I saw as well link Ashili said, but I didn't try it. I just tried with kingroot but doesn't work. I like the tablet but without root it's no for me I'm thinking about to sell it.

This product just released few months, I think it is worth to wait for root. The Link was for tab 2 not tab 3, that's why I couldn't sure if it is working, also TWRP is still not available yet.

on the lenovo homepage you can download the source code (bootloader and linux kernel) for this device.
This might help?

I have bought the Yoga Tab 3 Plus (LTE version) as well, and will want to test if someone needs it
OEM unlock seems pretty easy, "just" missing TWRP and SuperSu
EDIT: OEM unlock is super easy. 'adb reboot bootloader' + 'fastboot oem unlock-go' (will wipe your device)
Is the TWRP very different from device to device?

i have this device too. YT-X703F Wifi version. crying out for ROOT for months.
and i tried several root methods all failed. like Kingroot or Kingoroot.
and i do not advise you to try some methods ALREADY in Google search result using some specific TWRP and unknown apk . i studied the articles. they are just replace the model-----one article guide for all devices. follow that will cause severe damage.
and i hope the right root methods for YT-X703F come ....(cry...

How do I go about requesting a proper forum for this device?

That's true, I unlock this tablet few days ago and just found no TWRP or Root, and my tablet is coming from China, I can either root it out or flash ROW ROM for google play store installation; still, neither one is available so far.

I'm thinking about to sell the tablet, really I need root for some apps.

Aside from lack of root (so far), how are people's experiences with this tablet? Is everyone having the audio sync issues?

Hi all, I've been browsing since yesterday about rooting Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro, however there was little that could be found. And in this point I'm not even sure whether it is possible.
Does someone have experience with rooting this particular phone. I will appreciate any advice.

ROOT on Lollipop is actually possible, russian guide HERE.
Every game I tried worked flawlessly. I don't think I have ever had any problems with that. Also resolution change (to 1080p) helped with FPS. I think 1440p is for Adreno 330 too much.
Hi, how is it possible to change the resolution? Thanks.
i used the lenovo companion app and it shows that i'm rooted. but when i installed the supersu, either via playstore of twrp, it keep asking me to update binary. Any idea what i can do? thanks.

After pressing update? Still keeps asking? I just flashed latest SuperSU (2.46 i think) in twrp and everything works fine.
yes it tries to update then say not successful. needs to reboot. but then the same after rebooting. not sure if it's because i don't have root. i did manage to install twrp and can reboot into twrp.
Then flash latest SuperSU zip in twrp. I don't see a reason why it shouldn't work
hi bro, i tried that, and it really didn't work. I'm also puzzled. downloaded v2.46 from the supersu website and flashed via twrp. the message is successful. but when i open up, it still prompts me to update binary. sigh.

Do you have ROW or chinese version ? Kingroot mobile or destop version ?
I have a chinese model and after lollipop update Gapps not working [ tried a lot of GMsinstaller in vain ] , if you can help me with detailed steps please, I think only after root I can change pemission to gapps in order to work. Tried download and install directly on the phone kingroot v4.5.0.722 and is not working [I am not unlocked the bootloder yet , I am afraid not to brick the phone ].

look dude... i'll be super honest with you. In no android planet will you be able to root your device if you keep a locked bootloader. Get it unlocked first. Does your device have ''fastboot''? because everything will have to start with that.

There are dozens of devices rootable with those one-click generic apps like KingoRoot or Towelroot etc... which doesn't need unlocked bootloader, or even adb/fastboot. Ofc you won't be able to flash custom recovery (via fastboot) and things like that, but essentialy you'll end up with SuperSU installed along with su binary (that's the point of rooting the device, right?).
Before Lollipop firmware update our device was possible to root via those one-click apps.

Honestly to say you are right. I dont know why i was being rogue with you. I think what i should hav said was '' in no android planet would you want to root your device with a locked bootloader''. Reasons being no Nandroid backup restore method.. neither via recovery nor via fastboot image flashing method. Of course taking nandroid backup will be possible e.g using Online Nandroid app, onandroid executable scripts e.t.c. Besides unlocking bootloader only clears your user data. We all know rooting is not a disaster but a window to disaster #BRICK. Think about it.

Kindly provide details of your android version. I mean you could have used some OTA update. Additional information like processor type could be helpful. You could b using an international variant.

Anyway download pdanet for pc... Install it. Have usb debugging on. Check that on developer options on your device. Connect your device to pc then run pdanet to install the necessary driver. (You could also download and use "adb drivers installer.exe for pc as an alternative".
Check your phone screen to confirm the debug promp.
Download iRoot English version for pc.
Install it and run.
Connect your phone with the usb debug still on.
Once your device is detected and name displayed. A button "Root" will appear. Click on it and your phone will reboot if rooting successful.

Anyone know how to Root ASUS Zenpad 10 (Z300C)?

Hello,
Does anyone know how to root the new ASUS Zenpad 10?
I tried the method for the Zenpad S, Kingo app, DingDong app and Towelroot app none have worked.
Any ideas on how to root this tablet are appreciated! Thanks in advance!
Specs
OS: 5.0 (Lollipop)
CPU: Intel Atom x3-C3200 Quad-Core, 64bit
What about iRoot? Looks like it might have worked for other Intel Atom x3 tablets.

any luck ? I just got one yesterday
Actually, I am with ^, I am wondering if some people are having luck with this tablet. I was thinking about using root for some gaming reasons, but towel root isn't working and there isn't anything like nexus root toolkit, so I think that I am going to screw up the tablet if I do it the old fashioned way because I don't have much knowledge in that area and don't want to mess up my brand new tablet without good reason.
I can't get fastboot working... I can boot into fastboot mode but my PC does not detect it (adb works fine). Tried on Ubuntu 15.10 64 bit and Windows 10 (10240) 64 bit.

I tried all the four T options, but nothing..recovery choice doesn't matter, if bootloader doesn't accept the flash commands..
Note that I tried also the standard command "fastboot own unlock", just to see if bootloader is unlockable..Fastboot seems to accept the command, but after reboot bootloader still locked.
I tried rooting the device using adb too..the problem is located into the default.prop file, where some parameters don't allow adb to retain or gain root permissions. Those parameters are:
ro.secure=1, which forces adbd daemon to drop its permissions to the standard (shell) user, even if it always starts as super user at the beginning (while if to.secure is set to 0, it allows the adbd daemon to retain root permissions after starting);
ro.debuggable=0, which doesn't allow adb to gain root in production builds using the command "adb root" (if ro.debuggable is set to 1, it allows adb to gain root permission and the subsequent procedure for pushing the su binaries.
No luck at all..neither using the "one click root" tools, like kingo and similars, of course. I'm trying to find some tricks for rooting this baby, I'll update you guys with news, if I find something
Oh, btw, I missed to underline that I'm trying to find a method which doesn't force me to unpack the entire firmware, extract and unpack ramdisk, extract and rewrite the default.prop file, and then repack the whole stuff just to make adb working with root permissions..it is possible, but I consider it as the LAST chance (I'll do it though, if I won't find other ways)

I still have not found any way to root
Recently bought Zenpad 10 z300c from China and it has all the chinese apps that i don't want. Nowadays everything is using Google Services and for some reason i can't get it to work, they always crash. So im also looking for way to root it. There is no way to change the firmware without root from CN to WW right? My tablet also goes to fasboot but windows 7 can't find it.

Samsung Galaxy J3 (SM-J320P) Virgin Mobile (or any carrier) Support???

Wondering if anyone in the know has heard of any development going on for this device? I recently bought one and it's not a bad phone for the price, but I've seen absolutely -nothing- on it anywhere online for the most part. It's barely root-able with what I've been able to find, and no custom recovery or really anything custom has popped up that I've seen.
Not sure if it's just that it's been only a few months since the phone came out, or if it's just not that great a phone. I upgraded from an HTC Desire 510 to this, and it was heavily customized/rooted/etc, and I want so badly to get back to where I was with it on this phone I cant stand it!
I also want to root my Galaxy J3! I just want to root it so I can use AdAway and Titanium Backup.

Right now rooting isn't the problem so much as keeping root. Because apparently the colonel has protection and will remove root whenever you reboot. That means things that require root on boot like backups, Xposed and a lot of other things won't work for us until someone complies a kernel with root protection removed. You can do some debloating and possibly the AdAway but that's about it right now.
*kernel. Damn voice to text.
That sucks. I upgraded from an LG Volt and I was able to do a whole bunch of stuff on it. The J3 is still very new, so hopefully development will happen soon.
I just got this phone if there is anything i can do to help move this along let me know. I have the virgin mobile one.

I guess that would depend on what you have experience with and what you can do. Thus-far root has been able to be achieved with Kingroot, though it wont stick through a power cycle (reboot/power off/etc), and using any of the methods available (at least that I'm aware of, only found two legitimate ones) to replace Kingroot with SuperSU (to facilitate having root stick past the reboot hopefully) causes a soft-brick every time forcing a re-flash of stock firmware through Odin.
At the very least make your voice heard, if nothing else hopefully more popularity will come this devices way and we'll see some development for it. My roommate is considering writing something for it, but it is a long process working solo, so anyone who has experience working with kernels or editing stock rom/writing custom roms feels up to helping out, shoot me a message and I'll get it over to him. He's a fairly experienced programmer and picks up what he doesn't already know pretty quickly.
Got one recently too. Would also appreciate any more information on rooting.

I know this is an old thread, just making my rounds looking for anything on the J3 myself (SM-J320P Boost, Virgin, etc...) and have found TWRP & permanent root with Chainfire's SuperSU (system-less though). Everything is great except a lag issue with supersu. There is an exposed by wanum that works as well. Only app that has root issue so far is ES File Explorer. If anyone is still looking hope this helps.

Hi, guys! I understand it was an old thread, but I was referred here from Reddit. I have a Galaxy J3 (SM-J3109) purchased in Mainland China (Service provider is China Telecom). I rooted it with Kingo Root. Kingo Root stated that it successfully rooted the device, but the phone OS had given me warnings about unauthorized access to the device or something.
One week later (I did *not* reflash the phone nor install any applications after I rooted the phone) I found the phone stuck in an annoying bootloop. The device status is still "official" and the Knox counter is still set at 0x0.
Now that it's bootlooping I'd like to know if it's possible to take the applications and files off the phone before I factory reset it. It's not looking hopeful as I read similar threads from 2012 saying that once other Android devices bootloop, getting stuff off of them is impossible. I tried using ADB to take data off the phone (while Odin3 was detecting it being connected to the PC) but ADB doesn't detect the phone. Should I try a different cable?

Best advice would be to try flashing the stock firmware with odin. That shouldn't delete any of your data and will usually fix a bootloop. You can Google your phones stock firmware and see if you can download it.

Thank you so much! I tried using Odin to flash a software update and it worked perfectly. The phone is back up and running and all of the files are still there!
Right now i have TWRP 3.0.2 with supersu and i havent lost root yet also had no problem switching between backups, xposed working fine and also overclock too with setcpu, im currently running 5.1.1 using j320FN but TWRP was from j320F, i will put up links to the files if any of you are willing to try its up to you.
TWRP flash through odin : http://www.mediafire.com/download/blk7qa90vs6wik3/TWRP_3.0.2-0_SM-J320F.tar.tar
Supersu flash through recovery then update through playstore then install busybox after through playstore : http://www.mediafire.com/download/cpv2c71cp11x41f/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.76-20160630161323.zip
Remember to turn on usb debugging and turn on oem unlock before flashing recovery, also if you manage to get recovery press they grey box on the right to change language to english. Hope this might help somebody on here because we really need full root for everyone.

Is there a twrp for ZTE Maven 3 (z835)?

I've been searching the forums and internet for a while, but I cant seem to find any twrp that is specifically for the ZTE Maven 3 (z835). I have very little knowledge about this, and I really do not need a new paperweight. I already got the developer options, I know about the OEM unlocking and was looking at another option that I believe might be relevant which is "USB debugging," I feel like that would be important to activate to once I begin the steps of getting twrp installed because it allows file sharing between the device and computer. Ultimately, my goal is to root this phone if that becomes possible, but in the past I've bricked an Alcatel Ideal while messing around with my newly found power since I had no clue what I was really doing (I successfully got the root on that phone, tried flashing SuperSU without clearing the dalvik cache first and soft-bricked it) I wasn't able to fix that since I didn't have a custom recovery installed, that is why Id like to get twrp on this ZTE so if I make a mistake in the future it wont leave me without a phone.

Just found a method for unlocking the bootloader and that seems very simple if it goes as planned, Installing the twrp after that is what I'm unsure of now

He was just trolling. Nobody has figured out an unlock for the bootloader for ZTE Maven 3 (Z835) yet. I really would like to figure out a root method, as it's a great quality device for such a low price. Seriously lacking in storage though, which is where a root would really come in clutch for this devices popularity. I hope at least a TWRP is available soon.
Unlocking the bootloader is in the developer options menu.

Not sure what you're talking about Triforce. Unlocking the bootloader is a standard, supported feature of this device.
1) Go to About -> Build in the Settings menu.
2) Tap until you unlock Developer options in Settings.
3) Go into Developer options.
4) Enable OEM unlocking.
There really isn't anything to "figure out" here as far as the bootloader is concerned.
Now, TWRP, root, and SIM unlock, those would be useful to figure out.

If you had this phone you would know our struggles I have already done these steps and have used adb reboot bootloader and adb reboot recovery and selected reboot to bootloader which has not worked and the device does not work with fastboot commands and I don't think it has the feature to do so.

Beginner Tutorial - Unlock Bootloader + TWRP + Root

Hi everyone, I just want to share this tutorial for someone like me (NEWBIE, NOOB, BEGINNER, ZERO KNOWLEDGE).
ALL CREDITS TO THE RIGHTFUL OWNER.
PRE-REQUISITES
- Laptop
- Applications, .img files (https://mega.nz/file/igphSCTD#OybJo9t1zwvJ0bdbAcN2BCqxWXAfHdhk3JFB4_5xkVc)
- Your Nubia Phone
ENSURE THAT:
- You installed the application and driver (Minimal ADB and Fastboot & the driver from your Nubia phone).
- You updated your OS in the latest version.
- You UNLOCK the developer option (setting>>about phone>>tap 7x the build number) and you switch ON the OEM unlocking & USB Debugging.
- You approved the RSA request in your RM5G
NUBIA RED MAGIC 5G UNLOCK BOOTLOADER
1. Connect your Nubia in laptop, in your laptop, open Minimal ADB and Fastboot and type the following:
a. adb reboot bootloader
b. fastboot oem nubia_unlock NUBIA_NX659J
c. fastboot flash recovery recovery-TWRP-3.4.1B-0324-NUBIA_REDMAGIC_5G-CN-wzsx150.img
d. fastboot flash vbmeta vbmeta_BL_skip.img
e. fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
f. fastboot flash parameter parameter.img
2. Go to your RM5G, select reboot to recovery
3. It will reboot in TWRP twice, in the 2nd reboot it will stay in TWRP, change the language to English and select the keep read only.
4. Go to WIPE option, then select FORMAT DATA, type yes
5. Press home button, then go to REBOOT, select REBOOT to RECOVERY
NUBIA RED MAGIC 5G ROOTING PROCEDURE
6. Go to ADVANCED, below there are list, select INSTALL ROOT.
7. Reboot your RM5G.
At first, my RM5G restart twice, I was afraid that it was bootloop, the 3rd boots, it booted up and its rooted already.
Also, when I first registered my Finger Print, it’s malfunctioning, so I just deleted the OLD FP , register NEW FP and it works like a charm.
Now, I managed to flash the wonderful kernel of @mslezak.

Great job bro !
Note for those that don't know how to enable developer options - go to settings, about phone, click build number 7x. It should take you right to the Developer Options menu. Nice clear concise guide by the way! Glad someone wrote a simpler one than the one I wrote initially, only so many hours in the day.

Thanks for mentioning the dev. option. All credit to all of you guys who made this possible.
I've been trying for days to download the MEGA zip, but no matter what I do it always stays on 0% and gives me an error. I tried on different browsers, on different computers, and using the desktop app, I even tried with the mobile app with no luck. Could someone please share a mirror or another link, please?
Nevermind, I was finally able to download the file, my solution was to use chrome instead of firefox and close every window except the mega one... I left it like that for a couple of hours and it finally downloaded it.
Possibly a stupid question, but are there any downsides to this other than the risk of bricking?

Its a normal troubleshooting, if its not working to other browser, try another one, great to hear that you managed, happy rooting.

Thanks but this isn't what I meant, I was thinking more so of apps not working due to root detection. Banking apps or others?

You can hide the Magisk (setting/select the apps/then hide magisk) so it will not detect that you are rooted.

Hi,
2 questions. First of all, does this method work for all of the 5G phones? As in the European version etc. And second of all, will the phone brick if you update it via OTA, or do we need to do this method every time?

Hi, see attached. You have to rename the Magisk after selecting in pic. # 1.
You can find the FP calibration procedure here in XDA.
Ty ?
Hi Guys, first of all thanks for awesome tutorial. Got it rooted and enjoying the perks. However, some issues do exist. 1. The phone has detected a new update v4.09. Will the root be deactivated if I update the system? Second question, my banking app is detecting the root and does not want to start. I did set magisk manager to hide it from the app and restarted the phone even, but no luck the app still sees the root. Any solution for it? Thanks all
hello I would like to know how to put it back original? bootloader, Root ... thank you

1. If you updated your RM5G before rooting, its bug, ignore it.
2. Mine is working as i showed in the photo above (ANB)
