Missed thumb touches - LeEco Le Pro3 Questions & Answers

This is a strange one to me. I've noticed the phone missing touches when I touch the menu or share buttons with my thumb as those menus won't open and respond. Sometimes it will work properly 10x in a row, sometimes touches are missed 10x in a row. I have show touches enabled in the developer options so I can also see touches being missed that way too. The strange part is this doesn't happen when I use my finger, it properly registers touches in those locations every time. Has anybody else noticed this? Can anyone provide insight as to why this would be?

Hey, I noticed this aswell... Tried with multitouchtester, but everything looked Fine...

The top right of the screen always used to give me trouble too.

Yeah, this issue pretty annoying to me, but at least there appears to be a workaround. I am wondering if this could be due to a firmware issue and if it could be fixed with an update?

To me, it is the top left corner. It is not severe but it is there.
Coming from Nexus 5x which had same problem after an ROM update, I hope it gets fixed in future update as in the case of N5X.

Not getting this issue at all. Running on 58.019S

HD2 oudside in the cold.

I tested out the HD2 outside in below freezing temps, and it really had a tough time registering my finger presses. It took about 5 minutes, before it could register properly... Anyone experience these issues?
Yes, and the wind keeps pressing things which makes it almost useless. I'm hoping some of the hints here on how to make it less sensitive will help but I haven't tried it yet.
I've noticed the "ghost" pressing (the screen registered a LOT of presses when my fingers were nowhere near the screen) of the screen too. I also contacted HTC support on the issue, and they said it was not a known problem.
So, again, I'd suggest that if you're experiencing issues with the screen in cold temperatures (finger touches not registering, "ghost pressing" etc.), let HTC know about it!
i got that kind of ghost typing too. pretty funny to watch but annoying when you see its deleting mails, answering sms or calls people ... will contact htc as well to let them know.
Confirmed here too. Though I thought it was caused by constant rain/snow here in Moscow, which fell directly on the screen when the ghost tapping occured.
Yeah I get the ghost tapping but only after i've been in a call and hang up, it then starts doing all sorts of things by itself normally ending up with dialling someone!! :/
I dunno about the ghost-typing but isn't it a common fact that capacitive screens don't work well with low temperatures?
That's a capacitive touch-panel "Feature" . HTC can't do anything about it (besides lowering the screen sensitivity).
edit: Umiss beat me to it lol
you can lower the screen sensitivity either by installing the new 1.48 rom or using the cab from the hints and tweaks thread in opening couple of posts. Should help.

touch screen issues

Anyone else having their touch screen stop working property until they have to reboot? It's like it gets way off on where I'm actually clicking.
I have experienced that, but only after I had flashed the modaco rom. I basically returned to stock firmware this morning and am having to re-root my phone...
I have had a couple of occasions where it doesnt seem to respond correctly.
For me its like it looses the calibration, seemed to noticed it when the device is tilted horizontally.
reboot sorts it, only happened once or twice though.
If the phone is in your hand, make sure your other fingers aren't curling over the screen around the edges to much.
I noticed this happening, and backed my fingers off around the edge of the screen and it started working fine immediately.
I think the screen is just extra sensitive.
Curious if that helps.

I read somewhere (maybe on this forum even) that non-multi-touch systems have this problem. Have the same issue with my HTC Magic, but after a while you learn of a way to use the device single-handed while not touching the screen.
I dont know if this helps or not but I have no idea what you guys are talking about

The calibration problem (the screen registers a wrong spot than where you touched) comes up if you try to use a non-multi-touch phone single-handedly, so part of your palm (between the thumb and index fingers) touches the edge of the touch screen. Especially if you are trying to reach a top area of the screen while holding the phone with just that hand, likely some part of the palm touches the bottom of the screen.
If you want to try having the problem, you can touch the edge of the screen with a finger and try to click a link with another. It won't register the right spot.
Supposedly the problem should go away as soon as you lift that body part up from the screen.... so I don't know if this helps the OP or not.

does not look like its happening all the time. Ran few tests and still can't duplicate the problem in order to find the cause. so far this happened about 3-4 times on my phone.
i hope this gets resolved soon and that its not the touchscreen issue.

I've had this exact thing happen to me a few times. I notice the tip of a finger on the edge of the screen, move it, then it works fine right after. Sometimes happens with the base of my thumb hitting the bottom left corner too.
Just make sure you're not accidentally touching any of the touch area and it'll work fine.

I have had this same issue on my G1 as well a N1. This problem only happens from time to time, as happes with stock ROMs and custom ROMs.
For the N1, I was initial pulling the battery; however, I have found that if I hold the power button down (don't let go) and then touch the screen to unlock or power if off.
I have a friend with the Eris who was having the same problem; Verizon released a patch earlier in the week that seems to have solved the problem for him.

You can perform a soft reset on the Nexus One by holding volume down, the trackball, and pressing the Power button on top. A half second later, your phone will reboot.
I am also having these touch screen problems, and I can confirm I am not touching any other part of the screen to have it interfere with the non-touch-screen interface. I been testing with what people has been saying on here with having any other part of the screen being pressed, so I have been testing it out and I can say its a different response then what I'm experiencing.
Here is what is going on with my nexus one:
1) it happens at random times (my device is on my table and I am pressing buttons with one finger)
2) it only affects the bottom-left portion of the screen when it happens, touching everywhere else is fine
3) it thinks I'm pressing an area around the soft keys, an example is if I press 'A' it thinks I press either the '?123' or the 'back' button, same if I press 'd' it thinks I'm pressing the 'menu' button.
I can conclude that since not all nexus one owners has this problem it is a device issue, which what is going on is probably the same as if someone was accidentally pressing a part of the screen, but it could be part of the device is assembled incorrect or deformed. The physical form of my phone is off on the right side, I can feel the gray plastic part next to the black border next to the right of the screen is a little more raised then the left side.
But there is my experience with whats going on to me and my two cents.
Ive had this a little bit on my device as well, but I think it's a software issue since it went away when I pressed the home button.
edit:
Also it has happened exclusively in Dolphin browser
here too
Sporadically, it happens with my N1 as well. When pointing at the middle of the screen (in a list for example), the input registers 2 cm below my fingertip. Rebooting fixes this temporarily but it is annoying.
A SW update could perhaps cure this behaviour?

I just had this happen for the first time, all my presses were registering way below where i was touching, tilting into landscape in an app then back to portrait fixed it for me.
So now it happened to me too. I have the Nexus One for almost two weeks and I never had the unresponsive touchscreen. Of course I noticed that the center of the softbuttons is shifted upwards and that they don't register very well in the middle where they should and I had the problem before that the sms text input box didin't registered in the center so that the keyboard wasn't popping out but that is all only a problem of adjustment. Today in the morning after my phone was on standby over night I put in the charger to charge it and I got an email with pictures. I scrolled through the email and all of a sudden the screen became totally unresponsive. I tried to scroll and the screen registered at a complete different place. All of a sudden the email was gone because the phone registered the delete button even though I never pressed it. I could close the gmail program but I had a hard time to scroll between the home screens and the live wallpaper became unresponsive too. I decided to do a restart but I had a hard time to press the shutting down button because it was unresponsive too. This all happened not after heavily usage of the phone but after maybe 1 minute usage.
I am sure that I didn't touch another part of the screen when this occured because I realized before already that the screen becomes wacky if you touch it at two different places (lack of multitouch, so stupid to disable it). I hope that this is a software issue too. I can live at the moment with the 3G problem because it doesn't stop me from using the phone. The unresponsive touchscreen scares me more because because it becomes completely unusable.
i've noticed this with low battery. Twice its happened to me, the first time was when i first recieved the handset. and secondly was this morning when my phone was off with no battery again.
anybody want to leave their battery to empty out and try test if this is correct?
I've had this happen a few times in the ten days i've had the phone. I always make sure I'm not double dipping on the screen, and its easy to do since it will exhibit this behavior for a few minutes.
In my experience battery level has no effect on it.
A reboot always fixes the issue.
I figure it's software based.

Touchscreen (or phone?) stuttering, missing input

So, I'm having a problem with the touchscreen on my Blade occasionally losing my input. It's like it stops taking input for a fraction of a second, and then resumes. This leads to involuntarily selecting options in menus when I'm just trying to scroll through them, dropping icons I'm moving, etc. It also results in the screen not responding to single presses every now and then. If I press the exact same spot half a second later, it will respond.
I've used Touch Test to verify this, and there I can see the same thing happening. When continuously dragging my finger across the screen, every now and then there is a small "skip", and the line which shows how I've moved my finger disappears and a new one is started.
I'm not sure if the issue is actually with the touchscreen or digitizer, or if it's with the phone/system itself. I've noticed that pretty much any app/game I run on it seems to stutter/skip every now and then, even ones that don't use the touchscreen at all (and that run perfectly smooth except for these small stutters).
Thoughts? Is this a common issue, or is it my phone?
(Running stock 2.1)
Same problem, find anything on it?
I have this same issue and it quite literally makes the phone unusable. Is there any thing that can be done to resolve it? Or do I need to start looking for a new phone.

Horizontal multi-touch issues

I am experiencing a horizontal multi-touch issue.
If my fingers are closer together than I'd say half an inch and pretty much anything except for straight up and down on the screen in portrait mode, it either doesn't recognize it as two touches or it jumps quickly between the fingers as if you're tapping.
Anyone else experiencing this? Most notable when trying to expand/collapse a notification SMS or email. Extremely noticeable in touch test applications.
Bump/Update.
Posted about it over on Reddit and a number of users responded saying they can re-create the problem. I suppose it might not be the worst thing in the world, I just have to double-swipe on notifications and other things with my fingers farther apart.
Hopefully it is just software and will be fixed in an update, but ah well.

Touch Screen Unresponsive

I don't expect there's much that can be done if the hardware is to blame. This reminds me of my Galaxy S3 -- so it's a problem that everyone else fixed ages ago. When I touch the touchscreen, very very often, it doesn't register that touch at all. Sometimes you get a delayed response. This leads to all kinds of fun where you tap the screen again at the same moment that PH-1 responds to your first touch, so it applies your second tap to whatever is going to come up on the screen a half second later.
Does anyone know if this can be fixed by firmware updates or is this a hardware issue?
same here! my huawei honor 8 is much faster
Touch Screen unresponsive is a hardware issue. I had the same problem with my HTC U11 until it was replaced. Essential phone does not have this issue assuming screen is working properly.
Sent from my Pixel XL using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Touchscreen responsiveness, having to tap more than once for the screen to register a touch and awful light bleed caused me to send it back. But it was from the first batch that were manufactured. No issues on my U11, but I bought it in early August.
Confirming u installed the most recent OTA (NMI64C)? Because that fixed my touch issues.

Yep that's what I currently have. I think the phone found that update on its own a few days ago. Touch issues seem to be hit or miss and maybe less frequent since that update. We'll see how it goes from here.
touch unresposive is due too thermal trottling or like me the launcher stock.
Solved with Evie launcher
Using a different launcher and such didn't help me out, unfortunately. Besides the tap issues, scrolling through a web page in any browser or with apps was extremely slow and laggy. My PH-1 was already being returned, so I couldn't test the latest software update they pushed out. But my device also had some horrible light bleed all along the left and right edges.
No light bleed here. But [email protected], the responsiveness of this touch screen is worse than any other phone I've had. And the new software update hasn't helped at all!...
Same issue!
I too am having touch screen issues. Today, I was on the phone and went to go back to the screen and the screen stays black. I tried everything including pressing the power button and I got no response from the phone whatsoever. The only thing that finally worked was to press the power button and the volume down button and hold them at the same time to shut my phone off after the call already ended. In addition to that issue , I also use Swipe to type and when I do so it often skips over letters and types words that I am not even trying to type . It should be mentioned that I'm a very experienced swipe user and I have not had this problem with my S7 Edge or my Wellington . Also, I should mention that I have the most recent OTA. Also, has anyone else noticed that the camera shutter has a serious delay in it even with the Google camera mod?
I've noticed my touch screen freaking out sometimes. It has more to do with the screen having too many prints on it. Guess it's a bit too sensitive. I wipe the phone screen off and it's fine. Doesn't happen very often. I have one of the latest batches, pure white.
Already looked into this?
Sensitivity:
1. Tap on the "Settings" icon on the home screen.
2. Tap "Language and Input".
3. Scroll to the very bottom of these settings and tap "Pointer Speed".
4. Increase the slider to make the touch screen more sensitive and easier to tap. Decrease the slider to make your touch screen less sensitive and more difficult to tap.
5. Tap "OK" and then experiment with the results.
Essential Support still working on that and they send me this instructions for now.
I think it makes the user experience better.

Same.

Early on I got the black screen that required a power hold reboot, since moving to Oreo I've not seen that

Had it on both versions to be honest, but hoping it's getting resolved as time goes on!
Just got mine..same thing but...
My screen was doing fine until i installed "All in one gestures". I was messing around with side gestures and this caused the screen to be non-responsive. I un-installed the app, reinstalled it and set it up differently and now it is fine.
I hope this helps.

This helped me. I have mine set at approximately 3/4 and I'm happy one day in. Seems to work great now. I would still like smoother scrolling though. Thanks a million.
I was also having trouble with Android Pay and then found a post about the NFC being located near the bottom of the phone as opposed to the top as on my Nexus 6p.
With these problems fixed I'm completely pleased with this phone.
ugh! Flashed back to stock on 7.1.1/NMJ32F/436 as that is how my phone came, and now I have no touchscreen after re-boot?!?!?! any advice? Please?
Thanks,
DJ
