Nougat beta - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Guides, News, & Discuss

Since I keep getting PM's about the link for the zip, I have put it back up.
(Currently not working)
Nougat beta for SM-G930T:

This is zip was different attempt at pulling. Still wouldn't flash for me:

You can't flash this with odin. It's a update zip, you need to use recovery.

You can install via ADB. I think you jsut place it were adb is installed on your pc.
So usually platform-tools, I'm not sure.
http://androiding.how/how-to-install-ota-updates-manually-using-recovery-and-adb-sideload/
Skip the irrelevant parts, lol. As you already have the zip.

I've got my card as Adoptable Storage so installing from sdcard didn't work. Tried installing from adb sideload and got "Footer is wrong. Signature verification failed."

Did you Rename it as ota.zip when doing adb sidleoad install?

Ah, no. Left it as update.zip. I'll give it another shot. Standby (oh I did confirm md5sums as correct)

Also getting footer is wrong, tried both ADB sideload and installing from SD.

This I why I waites before I did it myself. I didn't want to loose the original copy. I uploaded the one form my wife's sprint edge and it was corrupted and I had to restore her phone. Caused some grief for people.

It's telling me the archive is corrupt. Will try to re-download..

When you did sideload did you rename it to ota.zip? What method did you try for sdcard install? Did you create a fota folder and place it in it as update.zip?

If no one gets this to work don't freak out. I'll contact someone who can give us hand. I still have the original in the /data/fota folder. The md5 checksum I posted was from the copy. As I couldn't get it for the original. I didn't install superuser, jsut the eng_boot

And failed again. Same errors. Confirmed md5sums again and same errors regarding footer and signature verification. This is also a total stock phone, never rooted or customized.

Yep, just put them both on /sdcard/ and flash away.
It tells you at the end of the post what order to do them in:
The three updates can be flashed at the same time (I mean without rebooting between the flashes), just flash it in this order: base system, root then addons and reboot

Just tried this, installation started and then stalled half way through. A few seconds later is aborted. Heres what it said:
E: No space left on device
E: Error writing BOOT
E: Failure at line 72

Installation aborted
Is this simply a case of me needing to free up space on my phones memory?
Any help would be wicked.

I receive the exact same error unfortunately... I've tried going from tock FRF50 as well as Cyanogen 5.0.8 with no avail.
Decided to try fastboot to run "fastboot erase boot" and see if I could get any luck there, but I was met with another problem:
"erasing 'boot'... FAILED (remote: not allowed)"
May I ask what is the function of replacing the boot.img in the root update.zip? Aren't su and Superuser.apk sufficient for root?
I was on FRF85B, invisible root!
I applied the three files in the order suggested, boom it works like a charm.
I see no visible changes, but Froyo rocks!

I see recovery-from-boot.p and install-recovery.sh in there, I'm worried about replacing those files with my bootloader still locked.
Can I just manually delete those files from the zip and then install?

edit: works fine.
Thanks!!!! Updated straight away....wouldn't know what to do updating wise without your versions of the Roms!!
I have been having the same problem when installations are flashing boot.img for awhile now. That said, the installation gave me the same error, I flashed the other two files, and it appears to be working okay. The only thing I can't do is use ADB, which isn't as much of a big deal for me.
What I LOVE about this flash is that it's using the Cyanogen kernel which has the audio values tweaked for louder earpiece volume, something that was a huge problem with Froyo. I'm much happier with this fixed now.
Am I understanding this correctly,
I'm running stock unrooted FRF91,
If I flash the second update.zip file I will be rooted and then flash the third update.zip file I will be rocking the cyanogenmod 6.0 kernel?
Eager to try, but a bit apprehensive.

Okay guys so this is what is happening.
I have twrp 2.6.3,2
I am in a bootloop. I keep going to the recovery
I have ADB running and can push any zip files to it
I have tried pushing a version of paranoid to it.
Upon trying to flash i get this error:
error excuting updater binary in zip '/sdcard/pa.zip'
error flashing zip '/sdcard/pa.zip
So something is wrong with the binary?

There is now I had made one earlier today for my new N6Shamu rom which uses the LYZ28J as a base. I de-odexed it as well. While I was making the rom, I edited the kernel so it does not force encrypt. Try this flashable zip and let me know how you get on.

Not sure if these two posts are related and I'm probably doing something wrong trying to apply this update. I am stock rooted with the MultiROM version of TWRP 2.8.7. When I go into ADB Sideload, ADB loses the connection so I can't sideload. I just updated to Windows 10 Pro too, so I don't know if that is related either.
These are the commands I used after I connected my phone:
adb devices (works)
adb reboot recovery (works)
In TWRP - Advanced, then ADB Sideload (works)
Swipe to Start Sideload (connection lost)
Cancel (connection restored)
Any tips or help to get this installed would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same issue. I found this somewhere and it worked:
From a command prompt (administrator):
adb devices and be sure it shows your device serial number.
adb reboot recovery
Use the Power button and Volume + button to get past the green droid with the red sign.
Unplug the usb cord from the PC and then plug it back in.
In W10, go to Device Manager.
Find your phone under Other Devices with a Yellow !.
Right click on it and choose "Update Driver Software"
Choose "Browse my computer", then "Let me pick from a list."
If you see categories, select "Android Device", then select "Android ADB Interface".
The driver will install and adb sideload should proceed with the update.
What a PITA but it worked.

Can we get a Step by Step to update to 27?

So my scenario.
I'm on the unlocked B20_boot Build. Rooted. TWRP.
What files are needed to upgrade to B27?
What are the step by step?
I have read through the different threads, but it is confusing at times and rather not make a mistake. It would probably benefit multiple people.
Cheers!
I'm in the same boat. I downgraded to B20 and cannot get the .up file provided recognized in recovery to flash. Using the system updater just puts me right back on B20_Boot. Just using the twrp backup does not flash the B27 firmware.

Correct. Is there any way to update to Beta 3 without losing data from rooted beta 2.

I currently on Oreo Beta 2, but my phone is rooted. Is there any way to update to Beta 3 and root again without losing all my data? I'm a bit of a noob to both rooting and android. Is there a way to back it all up and just import it back in or something? Thanks in advance. :good:

You don't even have to sideload it if you're using the factory zip. Just flash it like you would any other ROM in TWRP.
But it's an successful way...
We all know that different methods possible...

I don't know if it makes a difference (don't see why it would), but I renamed it OB3 before I put it on my phone's storage.
Spotmark, I was able to flash the update from the essential website via twrp. Everything else went smoothly after that and I am now back in and rooted. All the data is here as well.
Thank you for your help.
